Phil Tucker's Beyond the Mountains of Madness (Inactive)

Game Master Phil Tucker

This is the tale of the Starkweather-Moore Expedition of 1933 which bravely - and foolishly - seeks to finish what the Miskatonic University Antarctic Expedition began three years before.

I've usually seen them get to it within a day or two, but it doesn't matter until you want to do things like edit the Campaign Info tab.

Male exiled Cossack

What is common knowledge of Pabodie Expedition? I assume its known that several members died, but I'm guessing that it is not widely known how they died?

The following documents contain what the world knows about the Pabodie Expedition:

Apparently you need to grant permission for access?

Sorry about that. Here are links that should work for everybody:

Thanks...that worked

Hey guys, I've noticed a slackening in posting speed. That's fine, but does it indicate a lessening of interest? Is this game slowly lurching toward dissolution? If you guys are no longer quite as interested, we can simply fold this game and move onto greener pastures.

Apologies - I'm ready to go as soon as it's September in the game. I assumed you'd let us know.

Female Human Spoiled Debutante

Yeah. I'm ready too. Might be spending too much time on set-up of the adventure. Let's get into it. PbP is slow by nature anyway.

OK, great! So we're going to move forward to September 5th. That is, of course, if your characters don't do anything between the interview and that date. If you're all good to jump to Sept 5th, I'll post tomorrow and we'll get things moving.

I'm good to jump forward too.

Going to be switching from my PC alias to my DM alias henceforth.

And the campaign has officially been handed over to you...it just switched to the new title.

Oops! I stopped checking because I thought this was dead in the water. Can I still join back in?

Absolutely! We'll just say you had a similar interview to the others. Feel free to post in the current thread describing your arrival at the hotel. I'm currently waiting for all players to post before responding, so your timing is excellent.

What do you think, guys? Other campaigns observe a 24 or 48 hour rule where if the players don't post, the GM keeps on trucking without them. This is one incredibly long campaign. Shall I keep moving things along?

Definitely...I'm running a different CoC campaign (Masks of Nyarlathotep using Savage Worlds Rules in case anyone is interested, wink, wink) on the boards and I hold pretty strictly to the post once a day rule (M-F not weekends). We started with 6 investigators that all posted everyday and are now down to 2 or 3 that post daily but the others still post as they can. Moving forward everyday has allowed the investigators to finish NYC in about 6 weeks.

Agreed. Keep it moving.

Hey guys, been under the weather this weekend, regular posting should resume tomorrow (with a little luck).

No worries, get better soon!

My apologies, but I'm going to have to drastically reduce the time I spend with online games for the foreseeable future. Due to an upcoming wedding, and several personal issues, I am unable to continue to efficiently post in the majority of my games. I appreciate the opportunity to game with each of you, and hope that life will eventually allow me to return to more of the games.

Again Sorry, and thanks.

Steve

Sorry guys, but I'm going to step down as ST for this game. A combination of its sheer epic scope, the dwindling size of the group, and the way that the first third is so very ST narrative intensive makes me realize that while I might have wanted to take a shot at this as a player, I'm not up to making it work as an ST.

My apologies! In particular to Aubster, who has been quick to reply and whose enthusiasm convinced me to keep trying even as my own enthusiasm was dwindling. I wish I'd had a better idea of what this campaign entailed before I raised people's hopes, but I think it best to bow out now before we all invest much more time in this endeavor.

Best of luck to everybody in finding more active and exciting games, and I hope to game with you in other PBP's!

Thanks for giving it a go Phil. I'm sorry I wasn't better at helping keep up the momentum and hope to have a chance to play with you all again in a different campaign.

Hey Phil - thanks for giving it a go. It's difficult to run a non-Pathfinder game on Pazio's site (which makes perfect sense).

I do want to extend an invitation to you all to join a CoC campaign I am running called the 'Masks of Nyarlathotep' which is a Lovecraftian exercise in horror and mystery. I am using the Savage Worlds rules for the campaign which I promise are easy to learn. We started with 6 investigators but 2 dropped for conflicts with real life.

Here's a link if you're interested in taking a look Masks of Nyarlathotep

Thanks for the invite Aubster. I just got accepted into a new game that looks like it could be a little intense on the time commitment so I think I had better pass. Keep me in mind for anything in the future though. I'd love to get playing some CoC one of these days and eventually hope to run Horror on the Orient Express.
