I will be on vacation from Monday through Friday. I am not sure how my posting will go, so feel free to bot me as needed.

you know....
thats a fair point.
yeah.
Open to the group: let me know if youre ok with a drow in the group. Technically, you all are the balanced coin, so, in game, it would be up to you to choose who accompanies you...
to give the group a heads up with what i was thinking with jambreth
My thinking was, once we have a PC Rogue, i was going to have jambreth say to the group "i cant do this. i cannot continue on. " He would either leave the group and head back to the well by himself, or the group would accompany him.
if the group accompanies him, then meeting the new player would happen in the yawning portal.
if the group decides to let him walk, then theyd come across the new player elsewhere in the dungeons.

Vondal doesn't mind the drow. Most are quite kinky, but the godling's been outvoted before...
Ceirn
I think going back up makes sense to find someone. Trusting someone down here seems less likely. We should just push to get back in as soon as possible. We haven't even found the goblins yet!
As for the drow question. I care more that the character will work with the group then anything else, but if others would prefer to not have a drow/generally evil or distrusted race, I am fine with supporting that.
Gaelden the Lost
I have no issue with a drow joining us, so long as it makes sense and steps are taken to explain why they are with us.
As for someone joining, I think that the easiest way to do this is to say that we sent word for someone we already know and have worked with to meet up with us. That way the new character joins us just as we are heading down into the depths and we don't lose any more time.
RIZZENMAGNUS
i have an idea. you guys dont have to do it, but i wanted to put it out there for you all to consider.
With the party going back to the yawning portal, how about we invite the potential new recruits to hop onto the in game thread and you guys RP choosing a replacement for jambreth?
If you dont want to do that, and just want to get back into undermountain, then thats fine as well, and i'll just pick and we carry on.
Vondal "Silvertongue" Goldbeard
The first option sound fun, but I'll yield to the majority.
Gaelden the Lost
Eh…might not be fun for those not chosen.
Ceirn
I am good with it. If they do not want to do it with the idea they might not make it in, then they do not have to.
Gaelden the Lost
Thinking it over, I'd vote against doing interviews. In RL time, it will take a long, long, long time. It also means that people who aren't chosen have time to RP and get attached to characters that they will end up not using, and that feels mean to me.
So I'd vote for just choosing someone. Pick a date that recruitment ends, and we can PM the GM our thoughts, with him picking whomever he feels fits best for the story he plans to tell with us.
Ceirn
Gaelden's suggestion is the one that will most likely lead to us delving.

Welcome to hellig and simon
So, the way i see it, both hellig and simon know each other, and were part of a group (Nehlsons raiders). You parted ways in a violent manner when the group decided to take a job with the zhent. The job was raiding small villages in the high north to capture villagers to become slaves. This fight happened up around luskan.
I'll let you two come up with a story as how you ended up in the yawning portal in waterdeep.
Gaelden the Lost
Welcome!
Simon Severant
Excellent, thank you for the selection folks!
@ Hellig, looks like based on your background you were a bit of a loner, I'll assume until you agreed to join Nehlsons Raiders as per the DM.
My background had me joining and leaving mercenary companies over time (I left the names out for the DM to fill in as he wishes) as Simon was from the south originally.
Perhaps I could have traveled North with Nehlsons Raiders and decided to stay with them to pick up extra skills and coin instead of heading to Waterdeep/Undermountain directly as my original background stated.
That's where the group picked you up in and around Luskan. We met and stayed with the group for a while when they were taking regular old MurderHobo jobs. As the DM said, we parted ways as I don't think either of us based on Alignments have any desire to do dirty work for the Zhents.
My character has had the desire to explore Undermountain for a few years, perhaps I talked your character into traveling south with him? (Luskan is rough and with the mercenary company there I doubt we would want to stay anyway).
Let me know what you think.
Simon Severant
The Red Lady’s blessing upon you all. May your every stratagem be surprising to your enemies.
That works for me, Simon.
Excellent!
I have a post to toss in to Gameplay then.

Welcome to the game!

Thanks for joining us!

done
as a heads up to the new players, i have a seperate discord server set up for us to chat on. i like to use it to alert players of when i post. plus, it is a great way to get a hold of me and talk to me about offline topics that pertain to the game, or even a place to post jokes about random stuff. Kolaiah just posted a rather humorous minotaur joke, very nice..
Storyteller Shadow
Appreciate the invite but I have despised Discord since being forced to use it to run my table top game circa COVID and it always gave me problems. My table top players still joke about my borderline roid rage responses to this weekly dilemma.
I am content to wait on Paizo and post when posted to :-)

Ceirn will let anyone who wants to go ahead of him do so. If someone wants to be in the rear, he will move up as well.
My suggestion for the marching order is:
5 ft order
Simon
Vondal
Koliah
Hellig
Astrillith
Gaelden the Lost
Ceirn
10 ft order
Simon & Vondal
Koliah & Hellig
Astrillith & Gaelden the Lost

5' Order, OK for me.
10' Order, I know this is a bit different as there is custom, but I'd like to be 10' in front of Vondal. If I find traps (especially because my character has a spider-sense to do so even passively) i'd like to keep just a bit ahead so if anything goes wrong in disarming, only I get hit with the trap effect.
Ceirn
If Simon is going to walk ahead, then we can fill in some. So it would look like:
Simon
Vondal/Kolaiah
Hellig/ Gaeldan
Astrillith & Ceirn
I would like to be within 30 ft of the action if possible.

Can you put the figure on the map?
Storyteller Shadow
Can you put the figure on the map?
It's on a secondary map, below the dungeon map :-)
Took me a minute then I remembered that Rizzen posted that at some point there was a second map.
Ceirn
Excellent. Thanks for pointing that out. I wanted to make sure we were still at that corner.

Getting a procedure today, I'll post up tonight or tomorrow if I'm not feeling up to it tonight

Vondal's player is having computer issues at home but can try to sneak a post in at work when he can. Otherwise, it's slow going on his phone.
