Beldak may have found something important!

I'd like to have the rest of the characters sort of "check in" with a post, just so we all know we are on the same page (we are all in the Black Village) before I post again

Dwarf (AC 19, HP 13, Str +5, Dex +1, Con +3, Int +0, Wis +1, Chr -2)

made my suggestion already

Male, old, old, Male

Yes, I'd like to hear from Alder and Duglin, before we proceed...

Next Stop, the entrance to the Dungeon

A Twist

Kobolds, and the Dwarven Island of Baylor

Kobolds to not occur in the original module, so for fun I was going to throw this into our campaign, it will be significant, SOON!

Kobolds are not considered monsters on the Island of Baylor, and a history of cooperation and harmony exists between the Dwarven people and the Kobolds.

Kobolds are normally found in caves, not too deep within the ground. They are considered expert miners, competent smiths and have a strong magical tradition (their villages are often lead by a group of Cavern druids). It is said that the Kobolds speak to the departed spirits of Dragons (and each community of Kobolds is dedicated to one such spirit, the Kobolds speak of this spirit not in terms of worship, but more in terms of a guarding, guiding watchful “head of the family”). The only real trouble associated with Kobolds is their complete lack of a serious nature, and they are often described as “far out,” “lost in their own imaginations,” or simply, “kooky.” They can be difficult to deal with, but are always willing to trade (they delight in dried fruits, sweet candies, and cakes, as these are difficult to come by in their natural environments). Kobolds can fashion masterwork weapons and armor (of the finest metals) but are turned off by the idea of working with wood, this tends to make the weapons they do manufacture a bit heavier than normal (all Kobold made weapons are 25% heavier than the listed weight).

It is considered rude, to Kobold culture, to be a guest of a Kobold Hovel and not partake in a meal, this is often another place where relations are awkward, as Kobold food, though not bad tasting, is usually heavily spiced, and served extremely hot.

Male, old, old, Male

Alder has graciously dropped out of this adventure. I will make the necessary corrections to the game, and get us up to speed

Male, old, old, Male

Haarold and Duglin, any chance I could get you two to fill in the class/level section of the alias to match the other characters, in style/format that is?

Dwarf (AC 19, HP 13, Str +5, Dex +1, Con +3, Int +0, Wis +1, Chr -2)

done

Male WLock 1, HP: 11, AC: 13, PassPerc 11 // STR+0, DEX +2, CON+3, INT+2, WIS*+1, CHA*+3 Warlock 1

Checking in since it had been awhile. Looking forward to the answers from the kobold.

Male, old, old, Male

Yes, I was celebrating my Birthday yesterday. Sorry for being away at a really bad time. The Kobold will respond today, and if we can get this little scene out of the way we will be headed toward the Dungeon in the next day or two.

Thanks for the patience everyone.

Male Tiefling Rogue/1

Cheers on surviving another year and good luck with the nwxt one.

Male, old, old, Male

none of my games got updated this weekend, I'm shooting for tomorrow, after I digest all the birthday cake I've consumed...

Male Tiefling Rogue/1

Sounds good. Enjoying birthdays are nothing to apologize for.

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

Skeletons and gobs... if ever I wish i had slotted magic missile....

Male Tiefling Rogue/1

Haha sounds fun. Can't wait to join in!

Male, old, old, Male

We may have lost a couple of payers over the weekend, let,s hope they check in tomorrow, and head downstairs

Male WLock 1, HP: 11, AC: 13, PassPerc 11 // STR+0, DEX +2, CON+3, INT+2, WIS*+1, CHA*+3 Warlock 1

I'm fine with heading downstairs, if that's what we want to do. Are we getting lunch with the kobs? That would seem to save on rations.

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

I think in the least we can get more information from the kobs if not some XP defending them or ourselves. Maybe even save or gain resource materials too. Also, we have two dwarves with us (I hope still) and it seems an appropriate choice to delve for a back door to the palace.

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

Terq: the last time stamp said "Saturday morning .... 12:20pm" I just wanted to know where we stood with time actually for exploring / resting purposes.

Male, old, old, Male

well, it's still 12:20pm, actually not morning anymore so I goofed that didn't I. Benny has offered the Kobold Hollow Hovel as a place to rest, and there is a new Player to join the group as soon as the party enters the hovel, so you will have about 6 to 7 hours of daylight left on Saturday.

Male Tiefling Rogue/1

Yep, just a waiting.

Male WLock 1, HP: 11, AC: 13, PassPerc 11 // STR+0, DEX +2, CON+3, INT+2, WIS*+1, CHA*+3 Warlock 1

Clearly Hennet cannot speak normally. He must screw something up in order to roll well.

Male, old, old, Male

Benny has indicated he will try to take care of the pony and the cart is hidden in the rubble.

What will you do now?

Male, old, old, Male

Kairon - welcome to the game! check out the tab at the bottom of the page that says, "how to format your text"

Male Tiefling Rogue/1

Thank you. I did check it out and tried to fix accordingly. How do you write the blue passages for rolls? I do apologize for any future posts I might accidentally write in past tense. I will try not to, but I write all my novels in past tense.

Male, old, old, Male

No worries! We are a relaxed bunc here. All the different posting varieties are explained in that tab, you can come to this thread and play around with the formats to see how it works

I'll respond to Beldaks questions after a while to give the other players a chance to post first

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

All the available text formatting codes are in the "Show" button beneath the text window.

Replace { } with [ ] and rolls can be made like {dice=skill, attack}1d20+modifier{/dice} any other blue text is just out of character type which is {ooc} out of character {/ooc}

Write however you want! Our DM himself is writing in first person in another camp right now!

Male, old, old, Male

not only does the Generic Dungeon Master, in the guise of other characters, often post in the first person, occasionally he will talk about himself in the third person

Male Tiefling Rogue/1

I did post a reply about being called a Dragonborn and introducing... it will take me a moment to get used to posting but I shall do my best. My thanks for all the help.

Barbarian/3; HP: 38/38; AC: 15; Perception: +2; Rage 3/3 per Day, 10/10 Rounds; HD 3/3; Inspiration 1/1

NP...welcome aboard!

Male Tiefling Rogue/1

Thank you. I look forward to this game.

Male Tiefling Rogue/1

It's funny that I think about it, Kairon's staying with Kobolds and I don't have him knowing draconic...

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

Semantics!

Male, old, old, Male

I really don't think they would notice...

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

How many ranks do you have in Surfer?

Male Tiefling Rogue/1

Ah too hopped up on fun juice

Male, old, old, Male

The party of adventurers can talk among themselves, ask questions of the kobolds, and when they are ready, we'll call that the end of the day.

When the next day dawns, you should have a plan for getting to the entrance to the Palace as quickly as possible.

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

I would like to explore the kobold caves farther. Specifically looking for an underground entrance, or passage up the mountain that leads in to the castle without using the front door?

If that's unreasonable or there aren't any jewels (diamond worth 50gp) or other potential spell components laying around then I'm ok with resting.

Male, old, old, Male

The Kobolds do not have any Diamonds worth 50 gp, they would provide you with an opportunity to buy diamonds worth less, and other small lower cost gems and jewels.

A simple question about the extents of the Hovel, and if there is an access to the palace from them should get you the information you are looking for.

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

Never ending dungeon crawl!!!! <8D

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

Would I have knowledge of the importance of silvered weapons in this particular setting??

Male, old, old, Male

It is common knowledge, no roll required, that Silvered* weapons are particularly effective in fighting some types of monsters.

*an Intelligence Ability Skill Check roll of 10+ will allow your character to recall one fact about a Silvered weapon, and for each number rolled >11 one additional fact is known, up to six facts

Silvered Weapons Facts:
11+ = Silvered weapons are made of the finest steel, and then inlaid or coated with fine silver, 12+ Silvered Weapons are effective in dealing damage to monsters of the “were” family, 13+ Silvered Weapons are difficult to find, as the special skill required to bond the Silver to the steel is not widely known, 14+ kobolds know the secret of making Silvered weapons, 15+ some undead monsters are said to be afraid of Silvered weapons, even when they are not particularly harmed by them, 15+ it is rumored that Vampires do not heal wounds caused by Silvered Weapons

Note: Knowing these “facts” should not be taken to mean that what you know is the truth.

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

We off the rails yet or is this reasonable? Currently expecting to get Haarold's axe silvered over night.

Male, old, old, Male

we've been off the rails for a while now.

I original envisioned the game starting with the party standing at the entrance to the dungeon, but then thought a little role play of getting the group to know each other wouldn't be a bad thing

A little…sheesh

But it’s all good, sort of, we’ve seem to have lost one player already, so I’m glad I stuck to recruiting six characters. I just hope we don’t lose another.

We can move ahead to the Dungeon as soon as everyone is ready, and don’t think I am pressuring anyone to stop doing what they are doing.

It’s your game and mine, so play it as you want to and I’ll just hang on for the ride.

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

Hahahaha which dungeon? Castle entrance? or Kobold hovel?

Male, old, old, Male

There was no Kobold Hovel, originally, I just threw it in to give the players a base to retreat to that was close to the dungeon, I really need to stop improvising

Stick to the script you crazy old fool!

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

Oh lawd... OK, I don't mind fast forwarding to the front door in the morning unless you plan on throwing a 300xp skeletal ambush at us overnight.

Male, old, old, Male

I was just being flippant, by all means, please keep doing whatever you want your character to do to be prepared before entering the palace, that way when you are slaughtered by the goblins, ehem, I mean ready to beat a hasty retreat, you’ll know you did everything you could to prepare.

Wiz1 HP 9/9 AC:13 PassPerc 14 // Str+1, Dex+3, Con+3, Int*+5, Wis*+4, Chr+1 XP: 34 HD: 1/1d6

Slaughtered or running? You must be thinking of another party!

Barbarian/3; HP: 38/38; AC: 15; Perception: +2; Rage 3/3 per Day, 10/10 Rounds; HD 3/3; Inspiration 1/1

Ok, then let's head to the front door. After getting the weapons silvered, I am ready.
