Lorelei will want 100 gold pieces to silver a weapon, and have it done before morning, if you want to have two weapons done she will triple the price, and still finish on time.
Or, She will ask for the hide from a Rust Monster, a common monster found in the mountain.
Next game post will be the morning, and the party setting out for the Palace.

Hmm yeah, I thought more than one weapon would be a stretch and still wasn't sure on the cost. I don't think we have the time or the means to go crawling through the mountain haphazardly looking for a rust monster.
Sup to everyone else though.

A little roleplay? That basically means you switched from dungeoncrawl to sandbox style. XD
Quite possibly NOT what you meant, since the clue-gathering has us possibly going through a Duergar city instead of the other way around.
A Dungeon Crawl can have a little role play, can't it?
Yeah, see that's always my problem - I get it in my head that I can just do a dungeon crawl, then I don't force anyone to not role play, I play along and start making things up, and then the whole thing bogs down
I hope I didn't put anyone off with my comments. I hope everyone is still interested in getting to the Dungeon. And I will get us to the Dungeon entrance tomorrow,
Thanks
Oh, and it really looks like we lost Duglin

Stealth is rolled when you are trying to "Hide". It is considered an action, and there must be some cover available to do so. There is a box that describes it in the rules under Dexterity in the Using Abilities section of the book.

Generic Dungeon Master |

"Hide" is an action, as Anders says, or do you mean to ask, "How do I roll dice here?"
use this format {dice=I'm gonna hide now!}d20+5{/dice}
only use regular brackets instead of fancy ones so it looks like this
I'm gonna hide now!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
when you post it. Also don't forget to post two rolls if you have Adv. or Dis. on the roll
Okay?

Generic Dungeon Master |

Okay - Kairon please note that on your Alias, and deduct the appropriate gold pieces
Any Character may make an Intelligence Nature Ability Check, the DC to lean this clue is 15 (you can apply your proficiency, if you are proficient in this skill)

Secret Doors, Perception and Investigation
I suppose this is another House Rule, as I have been giving this a lot of thought.
Normally you cannot find a Secret Door with a Passive Perception Check (A special rule for Elves and Half-Elves would apply, but we don't have one of those right now). If your character want to "Search for a Secret Door," I feel that there are two options
Perception - Your character scans an area quickly, trying to take in any abnormality. The DC is will typically be 20, and little to no time will be deducted from the adventure. This sort of check can be applied to anything up to a 40 foot by 40 foot area.
Investigation - Your character selects a specific area of wall, floor, or ceiling and examines it in detail. This takes ten minutes (1 Turn) for an area up to 100 square feet (a 10 foot x 10 foot section of wall). The DC to find a Secret Door or other hidden object using this method is 10+DL (where DL is the Dungeon level)
A Dwarf Using Investigation to search for Secret Doors in Stone Walls may add double her proficiency bonus to the check (you are considered Proficient in Investigations regarding Stonework).

I was awaiting action, being squishy and all... I could attempt to intimidate or persuade them out of hiding with a bit of Goblin speak but beyond that I've got 2 tough guys in my field of view and we're heading into a crowded store room. Thus, waiting to act.

okay, but if Haarold also makes the same claim, I will impose disadvantage on both of your attacks as you run into each other trying to be the first one to get to the Goblin, how's that? Or you can, as players, come up with a plan that avoids this possibility, allowing Anders to sprint forward in a rage, while Haarold moves around in a more calculated fashion. I guess what I am suggesting is that we treat this like a game, like we are sitting at a table and the players should probably get to know each other and talk about what they are going to do to be successful as a group

Anders Buckman |

That has some difficulties in a situation where we do not have a map to come up with a calculated strategy for the approach. Also, considering we have initiative established as a group already due to the house rule, we do not know the order of our attacks. This means that you are going to have the first poster go first. That should not give rise to a disadvantage on the part of any player's attack, in my opinion.

Generic Dungeon Master |

Well it really doesn't matter, after all, as what I am reaching for is probably unobtainable, and it looks like we've lost a couple players already. So, we will go with your attack as posted.
Also, in this situation, you don't need a map as it was sort of stated very simply that it would be bad if both Haarold and Anders both tried to rush the one Goblin, and that I only asked for you guys to talk about what you were going to do with each other (again, desperately trying to get players to develop a stake in each other's characters, but *sigh*)
Also, Also, as I said the combat would be mostly "abstract" the set up here, with Anders and Haarold both opening the door at the same time, I sort of thought it lent itself to the probability of the two characters thinking that they would charge right in at the same time, even seeing the confined path ahead of them and both thinking "I'll get there first" and the only way to avoid that would be actually talking to each other about how to avoid that.
Maybe I'm just feeling grumpy today
nevermind. Onward to glory!
Anders has slain the first monster! I'll post soon and send a few Private messages off to the others to see if they are coming back

Anders Buckman |

I understand, and I have played with a similar house rule on initiative, and I was not really fond of the approach at that time. Also, a barbarian opening a door and seeing a goblin standing there is not really an ideal situation for a detailed conversation. Just trying to stay in character.
I hope that everyone has not given up the thread.
