Aakif’s non-hostile tone triggers something deep within the ettin’s angry brain. Its crimson eyes fade to their normal color for a moment, as it loudly but lucidly responds to its sister’s plea for help.

The ettin stabs the air with its enormous blade to emphasise the points it makes. “THE HALF-ORCS WANT US DEAD! GORGNAK’S PEOPLE WANT US DEAD! SEEMS EVEN FOREIGN STRANGERS … WANT … US … DEAD!!!”

The creature looks aggressively in the Pathfinders’ directions. “MAYBE IT A GOOD THING THAT THIS HAPPENED TO ME. FIGHTING FOR OUR LIFE MIGHT MAKE YOU REALIZE THE KIND OF WORLD WE LIVE IN ...”

Then an angry cherry-red light bursts from Pahg’s rune-scar sending crackling red plasma flowing about the ettin’s body. Its speed swiftly increases.

The black-haired ogre obliges his boss, advancing 30’ and throwing a javelin one-handed at Varg’s concealed position in the bushes. It then takes a fresh grip on its greatclub.

Have we shown the token from the troll chief? I am not sure if these were his buddies or his enemies. I was thinking these were in league with the other giants from the dam. Now totally confused...which usually leads to fight them now and talk later...but still waiting for diplomacy to have a chance

    The ettin takes off at a run, it’s angry half focussing on Fendahl. “IT PROBABLY YOUR IMAGINATION, VAHR! I DEFINITELY SEE A WILD ELF. WE GET THAT – NOT CHASE PHANTOMS.”

    In doing so, the creature unknowingly moves past the sharp invisible danger that is Varg.

    Varg:

    You may take an AoO on the ettin at your highest BAB + all the fruit EXCEPT you can’t use Furious Focus, so normal Power Attack penalties apply.

    As the ettin approaches the Lion Shaman, Pahg calls to the remaining ogre. “Kermit! You help me with elf!”

    Fendahl:
    Can you please resolve Kirrah’s ‘Defend’ action for me? I am thinking she would go before the ettin and green ogre, yeah?

    One minor thing, I have difficulty seeing how a large cat could easily get through the bushy terrain, without some kind of check. *Shrug* If you can come up with a creative solution – great!

    ALSO!! The ettin’s attack on Fendahl assumes Varg doesn’t drop it with his Attack of Opportunity.

    After the giant-kin attack, there is a deep rumbling from the hillside directly in front of the battlefield – not unlike the noises the Little Thunder dam was making before it collapsed. As the ROAR dies away, the rockface bursts laterally and two monstrosities emerge into the field from a hidden cavern. One appears to once have been an ogre, but it is somehow turned inside-out … Its partner has a similar appearance – but is even bigger!

    Zoot the blue-haired ogre sums up the feelings of his brethren in two syllables … “Uh – oh.”

    As Varg’s opportunistic strike misses the lumbering ettin, the big Ulfen notices the giant monstrosities exiting their ancient lair and does the unthinkable – he drops his greataxe!

    The hair rises on the back of his neck, as Cleaver succumbs to an emotion almost entirely new to him FEAR!

    Varg:
    You are affected by a fear effect, which has made you panicked.

    You drop your axe and spend this round fleeing from the creepy creatures at your top speed (double move).

    I was thinking trees would be difficult terrain so planning for half movement. If you think an acrobatics or strength/push check would be necessary, I can do that too. Cats are not as wide as they are long, so the image is deceptive. If easier, I will just keep her on Fendahl's turn as per a delay and say she spent a double move (like 1/4 speed) moving up? I am happy to take another Kirrah attack - even if a single bite if possible.

    Kirrah barrels through the underbrush without much grace, pushing through to get to the ogre that attacks Fendahl.

    I would wager you'd need See Invis or better to actually see him to Select him (since the target is a per-creature spell and not an area.) The periphery benefit is that nobody still has ever seen Varg succumb to fear, do ho ho. There's just this axe sitting here now...

    @ Aakif I think it’s reasonable to think that Varg would be making … fearful noises as he flees (which your PC would know is COMPLETELY out of character), so you could make the assumption that he is under a fear effect.

    This doesn’t really help you with pinpointing where the invisible Cleaver is though …

    I've hit maximum goon mode; Invis and family spells are dismissible. If Weiman can hear him running in the direction of the Not Fight, I can at least dismiss it so he's only one round away. Doops.

    The bushes he emerges from this round are close to where you are, Weiman.

    So I'd say dismissability is a possibility.

    Aand since I get 2 more targets at my lvl who have to be within 30ft of each other that leaves exactly 2 more targets, myself and Fendhal. +4 morale bonus vs fear effects for the 3 of us and Varg's fear effect is suppressed for 10 minutes

    Thanks for handling the fear, Brachus! Now the gm doesn't have to make on ruling on my shenanigans... You know, wizards have arcane focus, I think clerics should have divine focus!

    Brachus, not sure if you still have an extra remove fear...but if you can also reach Kirrah, it may be helpful. Since, you know, 1200# lions are easily spooked. :)
