Reporting in.
I don't have enough information about your setting to really tie my character to it. Can you give me a breif summery of which of the "black ten" I'm related to, and what that means? Also, regarding your spoiler in the other thread-
I'd like to know at least one character in the group, preferably more, and I'd rather the relationship wasn't advisarial. Can that be arranged?

Well, let's not plan on pvp quite yet. Although I'd be interested to see smites/day compared to summons/day - could be fun.
Oh, I played around with a bit of my equipment today after I realized I forgot to buy a components pouch - found a bit more pocket change without sacrificing too much, so I'm happy.
Cyne Lar |
East coast, y'all. I'm here.
I think I will just go with the simple route this time. Cyne is a member of the militia, and doesn't have any special ties with big organizations. Cyne doesn't openly deny any religion, but he doesn't really care about the Silent. He is a true realist, and applies himself to self-improvement rather than any cause. He is motivated to work for the militia due to the prospect of trying out his skills in serious combat and perhaps make a few connections.

Sorry about not getting back sooner had the joys of going clothes shopping to contend with :P
I will sort out everyone's questions when I get the chance :)
Any changes can be made until we get down to actually playing.
I was thinking that Killjoy, Grogan and Cyne could each know one another if that was ok. (More details to follow)
So this will give linkage to Grogan and probably Killjoy aswell.
Will try and get more up as soon as possible. Only put the spoilers in to prevent a word wall of death ;)

When we are in combat I was thinking:
I would roll initiative for everyone (If thats ok). Then create the initiative list for example:
- Killjoy
- Groden
- Senadyne
- Blob Monster 1
- Adam
- Cyne
- Blob Monster 2
- Ialo
So now if there are more than one player next to each other in the initiative order then they can take their turn whenever.
For example: Senadyne could go first then Killjoy then Groden. Then Blob Monster 1 would go.
This will help to speed things up and give a mini bonus to proactive posters.
Make sense? :D

Well, if you do that, it's almost the same as party initiative. Those with high init go first, but after the first round, it's just the same as party-monsters-party-mosters. There's nothing wrong with that, of course. It's how I run some of my games. I think that the system you suggesting will work as long as everyone is comfortable with posting a future move here and there. I'm comfortable with whatever works the best for you.
Ialo Darkfang |
My backstory seems good and unless you feel he needs more of a connection I think its fine. Btw how long has he been working for the voice?
I type to much. xP

When it comes to init. I find it best to to do PC group and Monster group. Depending on the rolls it etheir the monsters 1st or the PCs. No one has to wait on anything unless they want to.
Killjoy |
Whatever you think is best. Cyne has the right of it. If you're doing group init for the monsters then it only matters in round one.
Basically we just need to know who acts before the monsters and who acts after when combat starts. After round one it's just a round-robin.

Groden's storyline ideas:

Tarkish, I'm going to try to be gentle here, but I'm not sure I can and still get across what I need to convey.
Play By Post games are about writing. Lots and lots of writing. It doesn't matter how creative and interested you are if you don't have the writing skills to present your ideas.
I'm sure if this were a regular tabletop game it wouldn't be a problem that you have a hard time with spelling and grammar, but in this format, that's all we get to see.
You might not feel it's fair to say no to you just because you can't write well, but it would also not be fair to the other ten of us to have to play with someone who simply can't play the game at the same level we can. People who haven't finished growing don't make it onto NBA teams. It doesn't mean they can't enjoy basketball, it just means that when coaches make their picks, they pick people based on what they can do right now, not what they might be able to do someday.
So my advice to you is to practice. Take English classes and pay attention. Write on your own and let other people critique it.
Then come back here and present yourself to these forums again. I bet things go better for you.
Unfortunately, right now, we just can't use you.

I'm happy knowing someone (or several people), or not. I've played loners, and I've played with characters as close as a sibling - it all works out as far as I can tell.
On the topic of initiative: I'm happy with whatever system you want. If you go with a party initiative though, I'll likely change feats from Improved Initiative to something a bit more useful - I just wanted a bit of a bump since I'm not using Dex with this character.
Senadyne Deepblood |
I have one question about my Eidolon, do post his attacks or will the DM do that? I don't mind either way, just want to know.
GM-Hairy |
Tarkish I think Killjoy sums it up perfectly. I am not trying to be nasty when I say this but you really need to improve your spelling and grammar. You have interesting Ideas it is just difficult to understand what you are trying to say.
Try using word which will highlight grammar and spelling mistakes. Google Chrome also has a built in spell checker. You don't have to be perfect just improve a little.
Thank you for applying I am really sorry for not been able to accept you.
GM-Hairy |
Hmm well if Tierce doesn't mind we could just steal his way of doing initiative because that does roll things along very quickly.
I am not sure how you work it out but I am assuming that you take the average of PC initiative and Monster initiative then add them to a 1d20 die.
So Adam feel free to change feats.
Senadyne: I normally just let my party take care of Eidolon's that they control so I think it will still remain easier if you did your Eidolon move within your post if that's all right.
Ialo: That should be fine as long as no one gets jealous ;) Maybe a year doing small tasks, this will be your first big job :)
Gameplay up for dotting power :) Let me know when you guys feel confident to start and I will begin.
Adam Korsin |
Tomorrow works then.
Don't let the LG tag sway you too much, I'm going to try not to play lawful stupid so much as a naive idealist, at least to start. I figure Adam is young, from a good family, and without too many life experiences of his own yet so starting the game with some rose tinted glasses makes sense.
GM-Hairy |
I apologise Killjoy still getting my bearings a bit never PbP GMed before and Its a lot different to RL in my opinion.
Had a busy day today but I promise to get more information to you tomorrow. I wouldn't want to start with not everyone happy. Sorry again.
Is there any more details that anyone would like to know before we start.
Killjoy |
Kaleb, This link might help you.
Also, familiarize yourself with the coding formats in the spoiler beneath the reply box. Use the Discussion thread here to try things out. Feel free to ask questions, there's a few veterans here who I'm sure are willing to help.
