Fiona renews her hex on Gwen, granting her some additional magical protection, then nervously watches as they begin to traverse the mosaic.
Ward hex on Gwen, +2 to AC and to saving throws until hit or fails a saving throw.

Urbar nods and throws his plan overboard. He makes his way over the coffins, slow and steady. He holds his sword at the ready.
Urbar jumps at the coffin and tries to block it from opening with all his strength.
"Gwen! help me!"
Str check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

![]() |

Gwen nods to Fiona and Tereze before following Urbar across the coffins. She will be prepared to immediately leap onto any coffin that starts to open.
Strength Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Urbar and Gwendallyn climbs onto and over the first sarcophagus without any issues. They carefully proceed to climb onto the second sarcophagus when...
...nothing happens, and they reach the descending ladder. Everyone else is able to follow them without any difficulties arising. The are no weird sounds or other scary thingies coming from below, so you descend the ladder.
Near the east wall of this oval chamber is an altar, the front side of which is carved to resemble a winged eye. A chalice and a small leather-bound book sit atop the altar.

![]() |

Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Hmmm something about that altar looks familiar, but I can't place it.

![]() |
Fiona looks at the altar for a few moments, then moves closer to examine the book more closely without touching it. She also glances at the chalice but pays less attention to it.

![]() |

Urbar has a look of relief as he sheaths his swords again. He waits for the group to identify the altar, in the meanwhile he takes a look around to see if he sees anything else of interest.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

![]() |

Locke's attention is drawn more by the peculiar altar.
"A winged eye, can't say i've seen one of those before."
Tereze, you can take 10 on knowledge checks, thus passing it. ;)
"Maybe someone can get a feel of whether the chalice and tome are magical. The mosaic was after all, a trap."

![]() |

I thought for some reason that you couldn't take 10 on knowlege rolls. Thanks for teaching me something new.
Tereze snaps her fingers.
Now I remember, that altar is dedicated to The missing god: Aroden!

![]() |
Fiona examines the tome, slightly disappointed that it is not something more special. "This would be a fitting place for a shrine to a missing god. I wonder who comes here for worship."

![]() |

You can Take 10 on any Knowledge skill unless in combat. The bard skill that allows them to Take 10 on knowledge skills specifically calls out combat, which is where a lot of the confusion comes in, I believe.

![]() |

Ery slurps his tea, listening to the conversation at hand.
"Isn't humanity's token god dead?" he asks behind his cup.

![]() |

Gwen speaks up finally. "Or missing, vanished, silent..." She shrugs. "No one really knows what happened." She looks at the tome. "I imagine this book would fetch quite the price to a collector or even the Aroden clergy."

![]() |

You could take ze chalace too. It serves nobody collecting dust down here.

![]() |

Tereze casts Detect magic on the book and goblet.
If neither are magic she opens the book to read it.

![]() |

Waiting, Ery sips his tea once again.
"Best I let you guys handle this one. I'd feel...silly if I triggered an ambush."

![]() |

Urbar silently waits for the group to decide if they risk touching the book.
It's most likely a trap, seeing the dragon we just passed...

StephNyan |

Tereze doesn't detect any magic and opens the book. It turns out to be an antique tome of prayer for devotees of the Last Azlanti, and like the gold chalice it will probably sell for a fair amount of coin.
With nothing else to discover or do in this room, you push open the double doors leading north. The floor of this great, domed chamber has a coppery metallic sheen, save for three mosaics of blue dragons made of polished blue glass. Chiseled into the north wall is an inscription, and the air smells slightly of ozone.

![]() |
Fiona sniffs the air. "As far as we know, these mosaics might have traps as well. 'Tis a shame to mix such beautiful mosaics and lethal traps that prevent most people of ever seeing them." She then proceeds to look around for evidence of any traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
I guess there's no way to reach the inscription without passing through the room and on the mosaics, right?

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Tereze looks carefully over the room.
Be careful, just because it was a trap on ze mosaic last time does not mean it will be ze same zis time.
Then as the others look at the room Tereze walks back to the altar and offers a prayer to the missing God.
Spirits of all zat is good and right.
Help us walk surely zough zis night.
Let no harm fall on zose who seek and strive
As into zese traps zey do dive.

![]() |

Gwen tenses at the mention of another magical trap. "Sure could use old Vicard right about now. Wonder what that old stick in the mud is up to these days? How do we proceed?"

![]() |

Perception for traps: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Urbar feels the tension inside him build.
Nothing so far but a ghost and a trap...

![]() |

"I'm sure he's fine, Gwen. Not like you, of course, but fine like he's doing his thing happily in the s%+% stained road of the puddles."
He smirked lightly.
"So... Nothing we can do about the mosaic...so how do we proceed?"
He asks but his eyes look over the trap deeply considering a variety options...some of which may be less than good.

StephNyan |

@Fiona: There's not, but let's say it's big enough so you can read it:
You don't see any traps. The inscription on the far wall reads "Baesterogh, Alamitatus, and Vernegash-each dragon slain by Lady
Tula of Belhaim and the Slayers of Nazilli, Battle of Blue Note Hill, 3668 AR."
You were by the way able to read the previous inscription at the center of the red mosaic dragon once you got a better angle to look at it: "Red Azramo - Give the Dragon Her Due."

![]() |
"My mother used to tell me stories about dragons, a long time ago," Fiona falls silent for a moment, lost in memories. "Dragon breath is one of their most powerful weapons, and each of them has a different kind. Some dragons breath poison, others ice. Red dragons breath fire, which corresponds to the fire trap in the previous room. This room has blue dragons, which breath lightning, on its mosaics. And there does seem to be a faint scent of ozone here. I might be wrong, but would rather not risk anybody getting electrocuted."

![]() |

Is it possible to not step on the mosaic and get to the doors? Looks like you could avoid the blue.
"I see nothing, but the previous room, combined with the text, tells me that we are in for more traps. Any one of you know what lays ahead? "
urbar says as he looks for a way around the mosaic.

![]() |

Fiona said zese might be lightning. Right? Zat is ze air element.

![]() |

"Whew...This is going to hurt...I can feel it."
Ery suggests as he readies himself to step on a tile.
"I choose....this one! Ah-ha! Ery the Brave!"

![]() |

Urbar blinks in surprise as Ery is still unharmed.
"You think it takes a moment to charge maybe?"
He follows the elf and stands next to him on the tiles, to see if it has any effect at all for someone heavier.

![]() |

"Being that I'm not mulch... Or compost... Lets get a moving."
He says, hoping to the next tile. Attempting to avoid the blue mosciac...as he fears being zapped.
Acro-jump-tics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5
"Huh...I've offended my heritage slightly." He sighs, realizing he jumps like a gimp human child.

![]() |

Tereze looks on nervously.
Ery, be careful.....

![]() |

"Is that not my middle name?"
he laughs

![]() |

"Huh... Are we being too careful again?" He double taps the blue tiles.
"Hey, Urbar, Muscles...wanna open a door? my frial arms couldn't handle such a task."
He slips on his cup, realizing its empty. He raises a brow peering into the emptiness of the cup with a disdain.
"When we get back, I'm buy...hiring, I'm hiring a tea maker."

![]() |

Urbar shrugs and walks over to the eastern door and gives it a yank.
"Seems safe enough."

StephNyan |

The door to the east was supposed to be a secret door only noticeable with a DC 30 Perception check. I did a bit of a poor job covering its presence... So, uh, it's less visible now and I've moved Urbar over to yank the west door instead.
Urbar moves past Eryzule and walks over to the west door. He gives the handle a yank and discovers the door's locked.
Nothing happens, still. Then after a few seconds...
Electricity: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4) = 10
Ref Ery: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Ref Urbar: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
...a blast of electricity surges through the copper floor. Urbar and Eryzule receive a shock, but both of them react fast enough to leap up and avoid some of the damage.
Both are dealt 5 electricity damage.

![]() |

Tereze grimaces as her hair starts flying in all directions and she jerks her her leg is a reaction.
ouch! Please be careful!
Ery and Urbar heal 5 and Tereze takes 10 damage.

![]() |

Urbar looks throroughly shocked as the door seems to have been the trigger this time. He looks to the group for a solution to this problem.

![]() |

Having shielding his face, Ery was sure he had been shocked...but no wounds were present.
"What the he- Oh! This is Tereze's doing, right? My first time. That's Great!" He looks to Tereze with a smile and wave.
"So...a door eh? Magi-trap... If only we could destroy the door... Or someone could open it with style... Darn...how could we possibly proceed now? I fonly our masked Locke-Smith-" Ery paused at the pun during his sarcastic rant, his lips curling to a smile with a hand firmly planting upon his forehead. [b]"...Heh, Puns."
