Jules attempts to talk to them again.
"Could you talk a little slower I didnt understand you. Do you know where they monsters went?"

Graxes and Tywin watch the creatures flutter about but are unable to make anything out of their movements.
Annoyed Graxus says "As they cant speak. Give them paper to write answers on or ask yes and no answerable questions. "

Sora Dawntide |
Sora looks up at the creatures, thinking.
"tell me little ones, are there any other people like us in here? Is there anyone else trapped in here? Are there any more of the green skins around? Could you show us where?"
up enough to post once.
Jules Stonecutter |
Jules thinks for a minute then stands in the middle of the room.
"If there is something in this room we should find please move to my right if not please move to my left."
Jules waits until they move then says
"Is there something you want us to do in this room. Yes move to the right of me no move to my left."
Revvy Bitterleaf |
(if they can't give a clear yes/no answer it might be because they don't know)
At Sora's first question they wobble around a bit and start to make sounds(You would need sense motive for this one)
At her second question they move a bit from side to side and tumble around (again sense motive needed)
The same goes for her third question.
At the last question the point towards the north and shake their heads.
As Jules starts to talk to them they look at her with puzzled looks and then hover where they are.
(They have no idea if you should or shouldn't find anything in this room)
At Jules next question they wobble a bit from side to side..then move a tiny bit to the left.

Revvy Bitterleaf |
Jules can't make heads or tails of most of what they are trying to say but at Sora's question if there are more greenskins around (I think Hobgoblins are sort of orange actually) Jules is able to make out that they were attacked by hobgoblins and that they think that most of them left into the catacombs under the city..but that a few of them remain here.
(You've found most of them already..and the rest are outside this scope of the scenario..there's just what ever is left in the north part now)
Jules Stonecutter |
let finish cleaning this floor out then go down stairs. Unless you want to go somewhere else"
Revvy Bitterleaf |
(For completeness sake I'll assume you explore the rest of the tower you are in now first)
The middle floor (area 7b) contains the library’s most valuable tomes. It is especially rich in books about devil-binding and the history of magical constructs, including homunculi.
The uppermost floor (area 7c) contains Telfyr’s home, including both his office (a small marble table and a bookcase filled with tomes detailing the creation of homunculi and other constructs) and, hidden behind several tapestries depicting Aroden and Iomedae, his richly appointed bedchamber. The neatly made bed lies beside a nightstand stacked with several well-thumbed volumes of the Pathfinder Chronicles, with bookmarks flagging some of the more titillating passages.
You then leave through the door to the north to further explore this level before going down (unless someone objects to Jules suggestion).
You pass through another series meeting rooms and guest chambers similar to what you already encountered on the east side. Just without a hidden area this time and no hobgoblins.
Before you get to a door that leads to the most northern part of the cathedral.
It's not locked and you don't detect any traps on it.
(Just let me know if you want to open it, or back track and go down..or do something else)
Graxus |
Might as well finish this floor off first. That is what I expect the group to do anyway
Graxus listens at the door.

As you open the door you see;
A soft blue glow fills this room, emanating from the stained glass windows lining three of its walls, each depicting a godlike figure in a different city. Frescoes of angels lifting Aroden to the sky cover the ceiling.
Despite its obvious design as a chapel, the room itself has no religious trappings. Instead of pews, the remnants of a large wooden table and a dozen chairs fill the chamber. Much of their wood has been cannibalized to create a makeshift wooden gallows across the chamber’s eastern end.
In the room is a muscular hobgoblin wearing a breastplate and wielding a spiked chain who seems to be beating on a tied-up human lying on the floor.
There's a trio of bound humans (2 male, 1 female) tied to the gallows...they are standing on a bench at the moment.

As soon as he notices you opening the door the hobgoblin kicks the benches out from underneath the 3 humans. They are now dangling from the nooses around their necks and their heads are already starting to turn a tiny bit purple as they try to grasp for air.
He then wields his spiked chain as he moves towards you, stopping in the middle of the room.
"You will never get them back alive!"

This brings back memories of the confirmation, we killed the big bad with 2 crits, one axe and one lance of Tywin :D

Jules moves in toward the victims.
I am taking a double move. I should be able to move around him without taking an aoo.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
K..order of things will mess this stuff up..since Liriel will have to move into the room to be able to shoot..which will block Tywin's charge path..but giving the nature of pbp let's just assume that you guys thought that one through first and communicated the order of actions.
Tywin and Graxus moves into the room and deal a lot of damage to the hobgoblin.
Then with an expertly shot arrow Liriel manages to open up a crack in the hobgoblins armor even further putting the hobgoblin down
Jules moves forward to help the dangling people
Jules can indeed move without an getting an AOO ..on the fact that the enemy is lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood
Jules with the help from the rest of you is able to cut the dangling humans down before they suffocate. After they regain their breaths they thank you profusely for saving them.
After thanking you for rescuing him, Brackett (the man who was on the floor) pulls himself tall and tells you that the great Osirian sage Amenopheus is in the city, and has been working with Brackett under cover as an inside agent among the local Shadow Lodge. He believes that the aged wizard is in great danger, quite possibly having been uncovered as a traitor by the local Shadow Lodge leader, a person known as the Spider, who Brackett suspects to be none other than a prominent member of the People’s Council named Dorianna Ouidda.
Finally, Brackett asks you to muffle the bells in case additional hobgoblin forces remain in the cathedral, as he had overheard Hagla’s plan for invasion while held captive, which rely on the bells being sounded as signal for the attack.
Graxus |
"Haha, excellently done Tywin. I will make a real killer out of you yet!" Graxus says proudly, while Tywin does not know how to take the compliment and stutters a quick "Tha.. thank you master."
Revvy Bitterleaf |
After you muffle the bells the hobgoblin invasion does not occur.
It's been a few days since you rescued some important people from the Cathedral and since you've proven to be reliable and decent in a fight (not to mention still around) you've been assembled again for another mission as follow-up to the events that you were a part of.
The cool ocean air of Almas is less forgiving than usual this early morning, leaving the streets empty even of vagrants.
As the moon showers its last ivory rays onto the cobblestone street and the tip of the sun begins to climb over the watery horizon, a lone figure slinks out from a nearby alleyway, pulling back its hood and revealing itself to be Venture-Captain Alissa Moldreserva, a dour expression emented to her face.
“It’s a shame we couldn’t have met at the lodge, but thanks to all the disappearances and political turmoil as of late, I’d say it’s best to keep a low profile for the time being, at least until things get sorted out. It’s bad enough that the good name of Pathfinders everywhere is being slandered by that treacherous group of villains, the ones who call themselves the Shadow Lodge—now the politicians are on our hides thanks to that damnable Ouidda.
“No doubt you’ve heard of her—Dorianna Ouidda, one of the representatives on the Peoples’ Council here in Almas. She showed up in Almas a few years back, and she’s been out to get the Society ever since. Her origins are damn-near untraceable by practical means; it took us this long to finally get to the bottom of the matter, and while it’s no secret she has it out for the Society, few know the truth behind the matter, which is what I’m here to tell you.
“We have it on good authority that Ouidda is none other than the Spider—the leader of the Shadow Lodge cell here in Almas—and that she’s been using her fellow cabalists to smear our name throughout the city. She’s trying to get the legitimate members of the Society either completely run out of Almas or completely under her thumb, but for what reason, we don’t yet know. We know she’s got some shady dealings in her past with
the slave trade, and we think she might be up to some of that business here in Almas too.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Venture-Captain Moldreserva explains that in just a few days’ time, Ouidda will be going up in front of the Council to make her most damaging speech yet, a speech which could obliterate the Society’s presence in Almas, if
not the whole nation of Andoran. The tricky part is, the Society doesn’t have enough proof of her association with the Shadow Lodge or the slave trade to get her disbarred yet.
That’s where you come in. Moldreserva orders you to uncover evidence of Ouidda’s foul business in Almas, whatever that may be, and to stop her from delivering her speech before the legislature at the palace of the Peoples’ Council the morning after next.
You will have to go around the city finding leads regarding the Spider; if you uncover nasty or criminal information about her, you’ll need to investigate further. The general public is not keen on Pathfinders since Ouidda started smearing the organization’s reputation, so she recommends that you find the clues you need as quickly as possible during the day and make the rest of your moves after dark so you don’t rouse too much suspicion

"My best suggestion is to ask around town."" answers Venture-Captain Moldreserva when Tywin asks his question. " In 2 days time she will be at the People's Court to deliver her speech...where she will be before then, I have no idea"
Jules spends 1d4 ⇒ 4 hours around town asking about the Spider but nobody feels like talking to her.
Game mechanically; It takes 1d4 hours to try to come up with a clue. you can follow clue to clue, try to find new clues or just go somewhere you want to go..you just have a 48 hour time limit. It takes a DC 20 skill check (Knoledge (Local) or Diplomacy (Gather Information) to find a clue. If you are Andoran (or I guess Liberty's Edge now and make that fact known the people you talk to are more inclined to help you out against the slavers and you get a +5 circumstance bonus)
After another 1d4 ⇒ 4 hours and with the help of Ryuchi Jules manages to find;
Audovini the Hungry, female Andoren beggar:
Traveling from city to city in Andoran, Audovini wound up in Almas some years ago and has been begging for food and money to get back on her feet ever since. She’s clearly lost most of her mind, and she’s known for being “not all there” by the people who live on her street.
"Council woman Quidda you say..I think I've heard something about her..but the rumbling from my belly is so loud I doubt you'd be able to hear what I'd tell you."
I can just give you the crunch..or we can roleplay each clue/location a bit if you guys want..up to you.

"I ain't going to turn down good coin. This old half-elf, goes by the name of Jarovar—a real stingy, nasty type—well, he’s just set up his investment establishment in Almas, but he refuses to subscribe to any of the merchant guilds in the city and he only deals with a few clients who get small contributions from him, one of whom is the Spider, I hear. Queerer still, he makes odd ventures out of his shop in the dead of night, well after closing.”..you sure you don't also have some food you could spare?"

Jules spend 1d4 ⇒ 3 hours trying to come up with a follow-up clue but ends up at Audovini again without getting any new information.
You actually need a DC 10 Knowledge (Local) check to get the location of Jarovar's shop, it's not part of the investigation so it doesn't take up hours..so let's assume that you asked for that with your second roll.
"Oh..you don't know where his shop is? Well since you've been nice enough to give me some food..if you take a left here..then take a right at the fountain..then keep walking straight. Look for a red door"
Tywin-RK |
As Jules look for information, Tywin also walks around and will look if he can't convince some locals to give him a clue as to the whereabouts of the Spider.

As Tywin asks some question around town he doesn't seem to be getting any answers he can get some use out of until Liriel points out;
Horianos Stichen, male Andoren lumberer, after some small talk he tells you that;
“Let’s just say I know someone who knows someone who says that one of the Spider’s cronies does odd jobs in the Mercantile District most nights. Around two hours past midnight, I hear, this skinny feller’s either on foot or with a carriage, and he’s up to some shady business, hauling loads of cargo from his shop to the docks.
Weirdest thing is, he goes to the docks with the carriage, but comes back without it.”

"That sounds like a good clue to start looking. Let's go there at that time." Graxus suggests.

Jules on her own doesn't find out any more clues..going to need 2 assists to come up with something new. Everyone ok with waiting and then following the man to his destination and following him back again? If so...what are you going to do after that? Go back to the Captive Audience? Go inside the man's shop and talk to him? Do something else?
Jules Stonecutter |
"You know we could just talk to him if you guys want to. I am not diplomatic but maybe some of you are."
