The combined attacks of Gaxus and Jules are more then the pirate can handle and he drops to the floor again..this time it's not the grease that's making the deck slippery..but a pool of his blood.
(Just to check...does anyone have a way to heal? I sort of hand waved healing Ryuchi before we started this encounter assuming someone would be able to do it..but now I'm starting to wonder)
The crewmembers have a rapier each, the captain has a masterwork scimitar, a crossbow, a tanglefoot bag, a potion (magical) and a ruby medallion that looks like it's worth something.
Now that the fighting is calmed down you can hear some commotion coming from the docks it seems that someone has alerted the authorities and they will get here within a few minutes to see what is going on.
You do a quick search of the ship and fine another note in the captain's quarters.
As well as a hidden trap door (that takes a while to find, but you manage in the end)that leads down to a place that is used for keeping slaves, there are a few there who seem to be magically influenced at the moment..they all seem to think that they are departing to distant lands where crowds already await their debut performances.
(Just need to know if you are going to stick around to talk to the guards or if you make yourselves scares. And what your plans are after that)

"I think we should stick around and talk to the guards. These people need help. What do you guys think?
Of course if we do we may also be warning the spider."
Ryuchi |
Dispanding quickly might be more convenient. Ryuchi suggests, but his sense of lawfulness prevails Then again. These men were fould slavers, subjugating the people of the town. Their crimes must be brought to light!
Revvy Bitterleaf |
I think you mean to stick around to talk to the guards?
They arrive and you manage to convince them that you are not doing anything wrong here and are investigating a slave trade. After seeing the slaves they start to take care of them. They look a bit suspicious of you, but allow you to continue on your way when you explain that you are collecting evidence to bring to court.
To speed things up a bit..you basically found all the evidence there is in the scenario..so now it's time to go to present your evidence during the speech and out the spider, unless someone can think of something more they wish to do
Graxus |
Of course Tywin does, he looks out for his companions.
"We can exact our justice if we want." Graxus laughs
Revvy Bitterleaf |
(If you want to do something between now and the legislative meeting let me know..otherwise we can assume you guys get a decent night rest and start with a new day - so new spells and heal your level in hps)
If you guys could give me a list of what you are going to bring as evidence (for example..you can bring one of the captives yourselves as opposed or bring one of the guards along who can testify..as opposed of just saying that the guards have custody of some formerly captive slaves ..which will need to checked and takes time..so it has less impact. It still works..just has less impact) and in which order you are going to present it (game mechanically you need to present your evidence with a diplomacy check modified by the impact the evidence has and you need to make X successful checks) then we can proceed from there.
The special legislative meeting that Dorianna Ouidda herself called to order begins promptly at 9 a.m. on the third day after you've started your investigation. Many of the most prominent politicians in Andoran are in attendance, and rumors fly about the crowd outside the palace of the Grand Council that the Supreme Elect, Codwin the I of Augustana, may even make an appearance to hear Ouidda’s oration.
You are permitted into the upper balcony of the legislative chamber where you find several seats in the front row, overlooking the main floor. After the routine opening remarks from a court bailiff, Ouidda takes the floor and flies almost immediately into an embittered and passionate speech about the Pathfinder scourge within
Almas.
(feel free to interrupt her at any time and present your evidence)
Jules Stonecutter |
We also have the guy tried up at the shop. If he is frightened enough we could get him to talk. We definally should bring both the guard and a slave with us as witness.
Jules Stonecutter |
Jules looks at the others
"I think Liriel is our best chance to charm the audience at this meeting. I think she should cover these points
We heard that Jarovar was up to something so we followed him to the Captive audience.
When he returned we entered his business and told him we knew what he
was up to, but we didn't
He claimed he was not told what was in the wagon but heard muffled sounds and realized it was slaves
Jarovar admitted being part of a slave trade he moved the goods in a wagon from the Captive Audience to the ship called Sailswift
We entered the Captive Audience and talk to the person we thought was Senlokto Boraminder. After talking to him for awhile he suddenly attacked us.
We found the body of the real Senlokto with these two notes. One is a deed to the theater and the other was a message.
We also found several enscrolled actors
Traveled to ship as we neared it we were once again attacked. Defended ourselves and found this note from the captian chambers and more slaves locked in the hold.
did I miss anything?"
Sorry for the long post. I wanted to make sure I didn't forget anything
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Looks fine by me..I've seen much, much longer
If this is what you agree on it comes down to the following points that you need to roll diplomacy for (in order proposed by Jules):
Janovar
note 1
papers
Senlokto's body
note 2
Slaves
(Mechanically you'll get bonuses to the next check depending on the impact the evidence makes but I'll add those in later, so if someone (Liriel?) could roll diplo checks I will tally the results. Also you can get a rp bonus..so if you want to post/make a good story instead of just plain rolling dice..go for it)
Liriel Mistbourne |

After the big fight... sadly, the not bad Senlokto was found not living any more... poor Senlokto... he had papers on him! See?!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
"Finally, we went to a ship, i like ships, they rely on the winds! I like winds... Any way, so we went there and wow... wouldn't you know... the captain of the friendly ship was not so friendly like the ship... but we caqptured him, and fed him to the friendly ship! I don't know what the friendly ship did after we fed him to her, but it was friendly!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Tywin-RK |
Can Tywin try to assist? or is this a one man show? In which case I think Liriel has some fine rolls :)
Revvy Bitterleaf |
It's not necessary to assist, I would have posted results already..but I had some computer problems which took a few hours to fix. At this tier you only need 3 success and you made 2 even without any of the bonuses you get from the evidence..with those you make all of them
As Liriel presents the evidence you managed to collect you can see the council members listen and as evidence upon evidence piles up you can see the horror on their faces as they realize what Dorianna as been up to.
When Janavor makes his speech some of them seem horrified that such human trafficking takes places in their town..but they believe what's being said (+4 on all next rolls)
You can see some nervous twitches on faces at each additional piece of information that is presented
(+4 bonus from the signed pieces of paper, +3 each for both notes)
The body also brings looks of outrage to their faces (+5 bonus)
Then after the testimony from some of the former slaves really hits home (+6 on all next rolls) the chamber bursts into chaos, and the president of ceremonies bangs his gavel, demanding order.
Bailiffs move in to take Ouidda into custody while the Council investigates this matter further.
The authorities have Ouidda escorted out of the courtroom by two guards. The legislature thanks you for your service to the city
as the guards do this. When the meeting is adjourned shortly thereafter, the Council members recess to their respective chambers. As you exit the legislative hall, they notice a crowd amassing in a side hallway around the bodies of the two guards who left with Ouidda and a trail of bloody footprints leading toward her private
office and quarters. A bailiff sounds the alarm, calling for more guards and asking you to pursue Ouidda so she doesn’t destroy any evidence in her office.
Each member of the People’s Council, while considered a citizen by the law, is granted the lifestyle of the aristocracy they replaced by their position alone. When the People’s Council is not in session in the palace, they often lounge in their personal chambers, which typically contain the same opulent decor that graced the rooms
when the palace served different purposes. Ouidda’s chambers are no different, and here she uses the relative privacy to orchestrate many of her most sinister criminal plans, far from the actual operations in the alleys and docks of Almas.
(I'll assume you'll give chase)
Double doors lead into this large, opulently decorated room, a holdover from the palace’s former use as home to Andoran’s now defunct aristocracy. Intricately woven rugs cover the hardwood floor, and plushly upholstered furniture graces two distinct sections of the room. Bookshelves line the walls of the eastern half, while a small wetbar and decorative tables fill the western portion.
The room appears to be empty.
