Quiella takes the time to don her plate mail, then looks about for other holes in the defenses.
only 4 minutes to don plate mail! With a few minutes to remove and stow other equipment that leaves almost the full hour. Any suggestions?

Coco measures the wind direction and speed as the group collaborates loading the catapult.
Once the siege weapon is ready he makes a gesture "Turn it a bit to that direction. Tense it up to this mark" he then delivers the action to activate the catapult.
Catapult attack (K. engineering+BAB): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29
After the first shot Coco calculates the deviation of the weapon and guides the group to correct the angle and direction of the shot.
Catapult attack (K. engineering+BAB): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (14) + 22 = 36
Seeing the good effect he repeats the process for the next two shots.
Catapult attack (K. engineering+BAB): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (10) + 22 = 32
Catapult attack (K. engineering+BAB): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (3) + 22 = 25
But in the last shot the wind changes slightly making the catapult not that much devastating.

GM Harker |

Coco and the catapult team fire four makeshift projectiles over the course of a minute at the approaching invaders, hitting the mass of people each time. The strikes manage to take out a number of the forces, while the rest scatter out enough to make any additional ranged attack relatively pointless. However, a good number of torches still approach the house, each snuffing out as they get within arrow distance of the manor.
Let me know if you have any other preparation that you want to do over the 50 minutes you have left. Otherwise, please go to map and place your icons where you would like to located when the invaders reach the manor. Please remember that the ground floor is the top map, while the upper floor is below it. Combat will start on Sunday or Monday.

A7 is the top of the lighthouse? How much view do I have down to the ground from the top? Like would I be able to fire unobstructed?

GM Harker |

Yes, A7 is the top of the lighthouse. We'll say you can see and fire at everything around except 20 feet on the west side of the house, nor 20 feet on the northwest and southeast (starting from the edge of the door to A1) due to the second floor of the house being in the way. So, it's a fairly good spot to act as sniper, but the doors to the house are barricaded if you need to make it inside later.

![]() |

Vailis sets himself up in the second floor where he can see the main entrance. He thanks Coco for his great services and explains him the half-elf will dismiss him to summon creatures as soon as combat starts.
Apparently I do not have edit perms in the map

![]() |

One more thing... can we take that barrel of oil and pour it over the ground, about 100 feet away from the house? In the area that the advancing group is likely to cross? That could be lit with a thrown torch or mabye a fire arrow from Halkale?

![]() |

"Ew! Ew! Fire!", gulps the excitable elf. "Let's make a fire trap with the oil!". Mel then explains his idea to the others and sets about making it happen.
I've placed Mel's icon on the second floor by a window. He sets up a few flaming arrows to spring the trap.

![]() |

it would probably be better if Halkale did it, but I didn't want to put words into his mouth. If he does not post saying that he will do it before you are ready to move on, then yes, Mel will do it.

Well I suppose it would be a good idea for me to buy some "special" arrows for times such as these.
"I s-s-suppose I c-c-could m-m-make up a f-f-fire arrow." Halkale says.
I gotta couple of silver arrows that I typically don't use, do I need a roll?

Valik, will drink a potion of Mage Armor as the army gets closer (within a minute of combat if possible?). Beforehand Valik will move the chair to be in front of the window as an extra inconvenience to anyone trying to come in through the window.
After moving some furniture, Valik will wait until the torches are closer, then drink a potion to better protect himself mage armor After drinking it, he waits near the top of the stairs near the unprotected window in case the enemy tries to come through there.

if Mel wants to put the catapult on the lighthouse, we could swap that barricade back downstairs and Quiella could stand guard in the lighthouse with someone else that can see well past 30'
I think we decided not to barricade the lighthouse so we could use it for this kind of strategic thing

GM Harker |

The small invading force finally makes its way to the outskirts of the house, its number decimated by the earlier catapult attacks made from the house. The size of the force dwindles even more as more men get hobbled by Halkale's traps in the area around the house, and some of the less perceptive wander right into the large puddle of oil that a well-placed fire arrow promptly ignites.
The blazing fire and the screams of the burning enemy serve as a signal that the battle to protect the home has begun. One of the enemy flies out into the dark mist and out of the line fire, while four more men approach the house, three moving to the front with portable rams, while another makes for the east side. Shadows of more men flicker further away from the house, using the smoke and weather to hide their positions.
Okay, so remember the top map is the first floor, so I'll be positioning the enemy around there as the combat begins. They are all humans carrying either portable rams or a battleaxe.
If you are on the first floor, I'll assume that Vailis tells you what's going on outside by yelling through one of the murderholes.

Ophelia and Valik remain in the main hall in case the invaders try to infiltrate that area. Delaying them both.
Two men rush for the front door and try to break down the door with a portable ram. Fortunately, the barricaded door withstands the first strike.
Another man moves to a barricaded window at the front of house, avoiding stepping on any caltrops. He then proceeds to use his ax to break through the window and chop some wood out of its barricade. Barricade took some damage, still intact.
A fourth man moves to the east side of the house and tries to climb up to the second floor, but has trouble pulling himself up the slippery walls. He's still on the ground.

The maps are all the same building. The top of the map is the first level of the house and lighthouse. The map in the middle is the second story of the house and lighthouse. The tiny map at the bottom is the top of the lighthouse. To make things easier to understand, I placed labels on the left hand side of the map.
So, if you look for A4 at the right top of the map, Halkale is 30 feet above that point and can currently fire on all four targets.

I was referring to this:

The dretch appears a bit confused and with desire to kill product of his angriness. Vailis points to the group in front of the house, he shouts to the dretch in Abyssal "They are my enemies! Nauseate those ones!"

Oh great the blind and stuttering folks are together...;) Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor movie comes to mind
"S-s-stay there. J-j-just a c-c-couple." Halkale says down to Quiella.

GM Harker |

Halkale, there was an error in the description on my part. When I typed southeast, I should have instead said 'southwest.' I'll put a red line on the map to indicate how far you can fire on the south side of the building.
From his perch up in the lighthouse, Halkale fires two arrows into the invader who tried to climb up the building.
Vailis summons a Dretch and orders him to nauseate the invaders. A terrible cloud of noxious gas erupts from the dretch and covers the front of the house. It's difficult to tell through the fog if the enemies are nauseated, however.
The front of the house is now obscured by a nauseating cloud. Visibility is limited to 5 feet within it, enemies can no longer be seen from outside the cloud. I'll keep them in the last place where you saw them.
Melufiuos lowers a rope and attempts to trick one of the invaders into using it. Unfortunately, it seems no one can see it currently through the obscuring fog.
Valik re-positions himself inside the house based on the enemy's position.
Quiella casts a divine protective spell and asks for guidance from her clearer sighted companions.

GM Harker |

My apologies for the delay in posting.
Ophelia remains vigilant in her position guarding the west half of the Great Hall. Delaying her again. The player has recent activity in other threads, I do not know what the issue is.
One of the invaders emerges from the stinking cloud and makes his way to the next barricaded window in the front west of the house, now carrying a battleaxe instead of a portable ram. With a yelp of pain, he apparently steps on one of the caltrops set up outside the window. Undeterred, he swings his weapon at the nearby barricade, but his form is sloppy and he doesn't seem to do any damage to the wood at all.
The black-hooded companion joins him near the window and looks up at the nearby rope, asking something in Tien to his companion. The other fellow just shrugs. The black-hooded man then proceeds to climb 15 feet up the building with the rope unless Melufiuos drops it first. Let me know your intentions, Mel. You can drop it as a free action.
The third man in the gas cloud decides not to fight a summoned outsider and makes his way swiftly to the west side of the house.
The ninja clothed fourth man opts to move further away from the Dretch as well, moving to the northeast door. He then assaults it with his battleaxe and chips some wood away.
A fifth man magically flies in from the cliffs and with his fists shatters the only unbarricaded first floor window on the northeast side of the house.
Currently, Halkale can only target the two enemies to the northeast of the map from his position in the lighthouse.

Both the first floor and second floor doors to the house from the lighthouse are barricaded on the inside, as per my understanding of Quiella's instruction during the preparation. If I misunderstood your intentions, please let me know.
Halkale takes out the man dressed in a ninja-esque outfit with his first arrow, then switches targets to the man flying above to cliffs and hits him as well.
Melufiuos fires an arrow at the man he dropped, but it only strikes the ground beside him.
Quiella adds to her magical protection as she waits for a battlefield assessment from Halkale.

Moving 20 feet, readying an action to cast forbid action (attack) on the first hostile figure to enter.

GM Harker |

I'm still a little unclear on what adjustments you had wanted to make, Quiella. At this point, I would not want to change any barricades on the first floor since the enemy has reacted based on those positions, but if you wanted to move or remove the barricade on the second floor door between the house and lighthouse, I'm fine with that. Let me know.
Quiella remains in position and stows away her wand.
Vailis' summoned Dretch moves through the fog until it comes to the prone invader on the ground. The summoner himself fires a bolt at the man trying to break into the window and successfully hits.
Ophelia and Valik maintain their positions in the Great Hall as they wait to see what happens next.
The invader with a mask on the west side of the house moves to the first door he finds and cuts out a bit of wood from his battleaxe. Although he does get hobbled by caltrops for his effort.
The invader in brown robes sees the Dretch at the end of the fog and the two men on the second floor with ranged weapons and decides to limp to the assumed safety of the west side of the manor.
The invader on the ground does not stand up, but rather attacks the demon from his prone position. Predictably, he does a poor job and the Dretch remains uninjured.
The man hovering at the window enters and Ophelia's readied spell goes off, but the enemy just shrugs off her command. He then flies over to the cleric and attempts to grapple her. Seemingly very well-versed in wrestling moves, the man easily puts Ophelia in a hold. Ophelia is grappled.
