GM Aram Zey |
Torrag: it is vulnerable to cold, can create a cloud of smoke and fire around it that deals 1d6 fire damage to adjacent living creatures each round and explodes in a 30ft radius fireball when destroyed.
Torrag, Van and twitter pound the blast shadow with magic, Hakime sends two arrows past that fly unimpeded through the smoke, and Blan reduces the blinded skeleton to bone powder.
The blast shadow follows Torrag and attacks 1d2 ⇒ 2 Blan again with its sharp flaming claws.

damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1d6 + 1d8 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (8) + 2 + (6) + (3) + 2 - 3 = 18

The first strike misses but the second one gets Blan deep in the gut, and the smoke and fire around it continue to burn both Blan and Torrag.
The other skeleton keeps chasing Hakime.
attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 - 1 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8
It strikes Hakime in the side, drawing alot of blood, though not enough to be life-threatening yet.

Torrag, Van and Blan, state your actions please.
Blanmieux |
Hakime, you are still in range of the fireball! Van! Torrag! Run! You are not gonna survive this if it explode. I can.
Wait a minute. Twitter just need to attack from a distance.
[B]Nevermind. Run for it!["B]
withdraw. Fatigued
Torrag and Van only have 20ft move speeds, so I don't think we can outrun them. On the other hand, if Torrag has a pit spell and we drop the blast shadow into a pit, I could drop crap on it from above until it blows up, and the pit could contain the blast.
If it makes its reflex save, we may need Blan to bull rush it into the pit, but he's going to be in deep trouble if he falls in as well.
Torrag Grimm |
Torrag will move and cast Create Pit under the Blast Shadow.
Reflex DC 18. Pit is 30' deep.
GM Aram Zey |
This could change some of the later actions, so let's see what happens from Torrag's action first.
ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Torrag creates a pit under the blast shadow and sends it dropping 30ft to the bottom.
3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6) = 12
You see the blast shadow disappear into the pit. Moments later, a blast of flame erupts from the pit, but fortunately none of you are close enough to the explosion to suffer any damage.

Twitter, I assume you will redirect your attack at the last skeleton? Good idea btw.
Hakime, you can decide if you still want to withdraw or change your action.
Still need actions from Blan and Van.
Hakime |
Hakime will (still) withdraw, but draw her wand out as she moves away, looking to see which way Blan will go, hoping he follows her close enough she can heal him next round.
Van Potter |
Van uses a charge off his wand of Magic Missile to fire a force bolt at the skeletal champion, then moves out the line of sight of the creature.
MM Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
GM Aram Zey |
Twitter and Van hammer the skeletal champion with magic, and Blan finishes it off with an actual hammer.
Post-combat, you take a moment to tend to your wounded and track down one of the instances of Kreighton Shaine to report your findings about the Sky Key Vault's likely location.
"Indeed! I see that where a direct application of magical might failed us, your cleverness and ingenuity has pulled us through. Well done! There are a few Pathfinders I know who have talents in summoning and excavation magics, and will gather them here to begin making a path to the Sky Key Vault. But that will do us no good as long as the anchors remain! If we do not find enough anchors and sever their tethers to this time, we will all perish. I passed a few of them on my way here and can give you their locations and a brief description."
"One had a remarkably Azlanti appearance, and were she not garbed as a Harbinger I would have thought her native to this time. In any event, she was speaking to some of the locals like she was one of them, which either makes her a very convincing actor or mentally disturbed by the magics suffusing her being."
"Another was sitting by a table at a park, flipping over Harrow cards as if doing a Harrowing. I actually saw him several times, always at the same place, flipping over cards, as if he could not stop performing harrowings, or perhaps he was unable to accept what he saw."
"The last was a rather handsome young man, also with Azlanti features, but unlike the woman this guy was strutting around like a peacock, talking down to the locals as if he believed he was some kind of dignitary. And if you ask me, he didn't seem all that bright."

It is now time to find those anchors! Some of them you may be able to talk to, some of them you will have to fight. Which is which? Which will you choose?

1. The Wannabe Azlanti
2. The Harrowed One
3. The Delusional One

As the battle ends, Van consumes the potion of Cure Moderate Wounds given to him earlier by Shaine.
CMW Healing: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4) + 3 = 11
He then finishes healing by using his wand of Infernal Healing and waiting a minute.
"All of those people sound pretty nuts, but I think we should talk to the guy who acts like a peacock. If we act subservient to him, we can probably talk him down without having to fight him."
Consuming a level 1 spell slot to replenish 1 arcane reservoir point.

"Alright, I concur... let's talk to him first. I can probably help with that, though I'm sure someone else might want to take the lead."
Torrag Grimm |
Torrag thanks Hakime for the heals, I'll take a charge off my wand, and follows the group to peacock man.
GM Aram Zey |
The instance of Kreighton Shaine leads you past a few blocks of buildings to where the man he described is. As described, the man is rather handsome and does look like one of the locals, but is dressed in the robes of the Harbingers and is emanating the same green energy as the dome that encases the bubble of time that you are in.
He smiles when he sees you and spreads his arms in a welcoming and magnanimous (to him) gesture.
"Ah, who do we have here? More plebs come to prostrate themselves before the grandson of Aroden? Ah the work of a demi-god never ends, I see. Alright then, what tributes and petitions do you have to present before me?" he asks genially as he invites you to kneel before him in worship.
"Say...this guy ain't playing with a full deck, is he? Hmm... I got an idea. Just keep him occupied, don't do anything threatening, don't do anything to piss him off, just humour him for awhile," Twitter chirps as she ducks into the pouch at Hakky's side. Lights flash from within the pouch for a moment as she pokes her head out and chirps as softly as she can.
"Hear me, oh my grandson. Hear the voice of Aroden! These people are here to bring my voice to you. The green energy that surrounds you is part of a remnant of Tar-Baphon's power, sent from him to harm my progeny. It may appear to be a gift, but in fact it will corrupt those who seek to cling to it or use it. These agents of mine come with a warning - recant that magic! Purge it by your will!"
bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
GM Aram Zey |
1d3 ⇒ 1
"Grandfather? I... I don't know...." the strange man mutters as Twitter does her thing. There is another flash of green energy from the dome above that comes crashing down on the ground before you. When the green glow fades, you see that a large ochre pool of gel has been left on the ground. It quivers a little before beginning to flow slowly towards you.
"Ah! I see! A test! If you truly were sent by my grandfather, and the green energies are truly from Tar-Baphon, then you should have no trouble defeating this creature. If you win, I shall relinquish this magic, hmm?"
The delusional fool sits himself by the fountain in the plaza and gestures towards you, inviting you to prove yourself to him.

Torrag Grimm |
Know Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Immunities, Resistances?
GM Aram Zey |
This is perhaps the largest ochre jelly you have ever seen. Immune to: electricity, mind-affecting effects, ooze traits, slashing and piercing damage.
Torrag Grimm |
Torrag will retrieve and throw his last bead at it (a little behind it so it only gets the jelly).
"Immune to electricity, slashing, or piercing damage. I'd keep my distance if I were you."
Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 3) = 10 (Reflex DC 14 for half)
Van Potter |
Knowledge (dungeoneering) for more questions: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
If that gives Van a question, I want to know special abilities.
Not liking his chances against oozes of unusual size, Van retreats 20 feet and fires a wand generated Magic Missile at the monster. He also takes a brief moment to recall anything else important about ochre jellies that might be helpful.
MM damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Hakime |
Hakime stays back and sighs, curses that she STILL hasn't bought blunt arrows... "I REALLY need to get some blunt arrows... "
knowledge dungeoneering: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Special attacks, or if Van got that, I'll ask for movement speeds.
"At least it doesn't self-heal. Or at least I don't think it does..." Twitter mutters as she shoots a green ray at the ooze.
attack roll: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
damage roll: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
GM Mars |
Pathfinders have found and uncovered the Sky Key Vault. It is there that the Sky Key—the Society’s ticket home—awaits. However, the dome of green energy remains strong, suggesting that too many Harbinger spellcasters are still anchoring the Society in this time period.
GMs, it is now possible to gain Vault successes. Map is also updated.
GM Aram Zey |
Van has no idea what this thing is. Twitter, like Torrag, knows it is a prodigiously-sized ochre jelly. It secretes a digestive acid that only attacks flesh and it is adept at grabbing and constricting its targets with its pseudopod slams (slam has acid damage, grab and constrict).
ref: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (16) - 3 = 13
Much like your Blan, the ooze is large, slow and easy to hit, but can soak a lot of damage. Your spells hit the ooze to full effect, but it does not seem to be slowing down. Fortunately it was never quick to begin with.
Round 1
Van
Hakime
Twitter
Torrag
Blan
Giant ochre jelly - 14hp
Need actions from Blan, and then the ooze will act.
Blanmieux |
Really Torrag you should have wait for us to that we slash this . Anyways we just have to walk and the other spell caster would hit. That is the safe plan.
Blanmieux takes his light hammer and throws to the jelly.
1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 2 = 24 why it is not with my scythe!!!!
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
confirmation: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 - 2 = 18
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
GM Aram Zey |
Blan flings his hammer at the ooze and strikes it dead center. However, lacking a discernable anatomy, his perfectly-aimed strike does no more than a normal strike. Ooze traits - immune to critical hits.
Torrag looks at Blan backs away from the ooze, running past him. He looks back to the ooze, and suddenly realizes that the front-line has moved, and he is now the frontline. He barely has a moment to mutter a curse before the ooze flows towards him and flicks a goopey pseudopod limb at him.
slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
pain: 2d6 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 + (1) = 12
grab: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 This right here is true luckiness.
Against all odds, the ooze flails wildly to no effect, completely missing the dwarven wizard.
Round 2
Van

Torrag
Blan
Giant ochre jelly - 20hp
Pathfinders act in round 2.
Torrag, you think the ooze has a 15ft reach. Watch the map.
Blanmieux |
Dm I think even the slam didn't work.
I have this strange idea. Do anybody have quaterstaff? this This is so easy to hit... I could do duelwielding.
If there were a way not being grab and have the opportunity to do this.
Hakime |
Hakime looks around a bit helplessly almost, til she spots something that might be usable as a club, at least for a few hits before it breaks... She picks it up, stashing her bow on her back and takes a couple of swings through the air to test the balance and adjust her grip for the least resistance to it's form. Then she approaches to stand at Blan's side, watching the ooze cautiously.
Torrag Grimm |
I'm pretty sure an "8" on the slam attack misses me, unless the modifiers are off on the roll.
That was a little too close.
Seeing Hakime looking for a weapon, Torrag will call out to him, Wait a second Hakime, I've got something for you."
Torrag will withdraw to avoid an AoO. In the process, he'll draw his warhammer as he moves and drop it at Hakime's feet as he passes by.
MW Warhammer
Van Potter |
Not wanting to be an appetizer for the ooze, Van retreats 20 feet and fires another wand generated Magic Missile at the creature.
MM Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
GM Aram Zey |
Hakime, you can pick up Torrag's hammer instead of finding an improvised weapon. Do you want to run back since Blan is running away, or will you stand between Torrag and the ooze?
Hakime |
Hakime will pick up the hammer and stand between Torrag and the ooze for now. No wizard should be left to shoulder the frontline.
She will take a defensive stance and stands ready to back up a little after making an attack, assuming Torrag backs up some.
GM Aram Zey |
Van and Twitter continue to shoot at the ooze with magic. Torrag pulls back and hands Hakime his hammer, and the paladin bravely stands her ground against the ooze while Blan grows feathers and a beak.
Sure enough, the ooze slides towards Hakime and slams her with a pseudopod.
slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
I continue to be amazed. My last 3 attack rolls were 2,1,3.
Serenrae herself smiles upon her paladin for her courage, and the paladin glows briefly with a golden light that cows even the mindless ooze and causes its attack to fall short. The time displacement however prevents even the goddess from further direct intervention, and the glow quickly fades.

Round 3. Pathfinders can act again.
Van Potter |
With his wand getting low on charges, Van switches to an Acid Splash cantrip that he fires at the ochre jelly.
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Hakime |
Hakime takes a swing at the ooze, then takes a step back.
to hit: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 = 15
dmg if hits: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
GM Aram Zey |
Hakime, it has a 15ft reach. You will need to move closer to attack in melee.
Torrag Grimm |
Torrag will use his ring and cast Flaming Sphere positioned on the back edge of the ooze.
Fire Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3) = 11
Reflex DC17 negates damage
Torrag will then move back 20'
If someone could move me, that'd be great. I'm on my phone so can't move myself. Thank you.
Hakime |
then never mind the attack, it will get an aoo if she moves closer, so instead she will back up, but remain between Torrag and the ooze.
