Crowe - Iconic Character |
I cannot move my icon so please do so for me.
Crowe charges towards the obese man.
Charge, To hit: +7 BAB, + 3 Furious Earthbreaker, +1 Weapon focus, +6 Strength 23, -0 power attack & furious focus: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 17 + 2 = 25
Damage: + 3 Furious Earthbreaker (two handed), +9 Strength 23, +6 power attack : 3d6 + 18 ⇒ (2, 3, 3) + 18 = 26
DM Elan Morin |
@Crowe: you can't see the fat man inside the fog. Besides it is so thick it impedes charging through
Crowe - Iconic Character |
Crowe walks forward up to the fog and cats burning hands.
Burning hands, 15 ft cone , Reflex DC 13 half, electric damage : 5d4 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 2, 2) = 16
DM Elan Morin |
Relex Save Naroth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Crowe discharges a vast amount of electricity in front of himself and is gratified by a grunt of pain coming from inside the fog cloud, followed by some sort of chanting...
Round 02/03 - Bold may act

Warpac -12hp
Barm -16hp

Mutahir Hashem |
Mutahir walks up to the edge of the cloud and holds up his blade.
FOUL SERVANT OF RUNES! YOUR DEATH IS UPON YOU!
He then proceeds to utter words of blasphemy against the goddess Lissala that even the holy aligned against her Warpac is forced to blink in shock.
Intimidate, Word of Law, Lissala followers: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Ugh, embarrassing roll
Max, lyrakien familiar of Vybus |
C'mon Max, you got this...
Max takes a deep breath, centering herself, and again attempts to activate the scroll
UMD DC23: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38
aiming the gust of wind at the fog.
So the fog should be dispersed at the start of Max's next turn
Vybus Abbin |
Warpac |
Warpac moves into the cloud and takes a swing at where he hears the man's voice coming from. If out of reach he throws the dwarven double waraxe at him (which has returning on it).
Not sure how it works to throw an item without the throwing ability. I actually thought it had the throwing ability when I had him take the returning weapon spell! Perhaps it works as an improvised weapon? And I'm not sure how it damage is done, particularly in when you throw in enlargement as I think items shrink when thrown. Let's just hope he's within swinging range.Note: I would have had him cast the spell on his starknife had I known!
To hit Dwarven Double Waraxe: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Damage: 2d8 + 3d6 + 13 ⇒ (1, 8) + (6, 5, 6) + 13 = 39
Vicious feedback damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Miss chance from concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 39
Barm |
Barm moves into the cloud and try to hit.
to hit: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
damage: 2d8 + 12 ⇒ (6, 5) + 12 = 23
concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 89
Crowe - Iconic Character |
Crowe slowly walks forward and tries to see where the man is hiding!
Perception to pinpoint square : 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
I believe the DC is 20 to locate an invisible being’s square.
If he is able to locate the square he attacks.
Low is good 1, high is good 2 : 1d2 ⇒ 2
Concealment : 1d100 ⇒ 53
To hit: +7 BAB, + 3 Furious Earthbreaker, +1 Weapon focus, +6 Strength 23, -0 power attack & furious focus: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32
Damage: + 3 Furious Earthbreaker (two handed), +9 Strength 23, +6 power attack : 3d6 + 18 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 18 = 22
DM Elan Morin |
@Vybus: Max needs to make a DC 5 Wisdom check to avoid a scroll mishap
@Crowe: in my games low is always good when it comes to a percentile roll
Tak moves closer to the fog while Nail releases a burst of energy meant to strengthen its allies.
Mutahir fails to impress the hidden wizard.
Max tries again to dispell the fog while her master prepares to cast a spell.
Barm approaches through the fog... but the fat man is flying out of his weapon's reach and unfortunately the same is true for Warpac and Crowe both.
He's flying 10 feet off the ground. You'd normally be able to hit him if you were adjacent to his square but from that distance you have not enough reach despite being large
The obese man completes his spell and suddenly a big tiger complete with reddish fur and smell of sulfur materializes between Tak and Vybus...
Claw 01 vs Tak: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 → Damage roll: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 → Grab: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Claw 02 vs Tak: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 → Damage roll: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 → Grab: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
Bite vs Vybus: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 → Damage roll: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13 → Grab: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32
Vybus avoids a vicious bite from the newly summoned feline while Tak suffers two claw strikes before being grappled by the creature.
Meanwhile the obese man vanishes entirely from your sight!
Those who could see him (Barm apparently) can roll spellcraft to determine what he did

@GM mishaps only can occur if the caster is using the scroll in the traditional way (spell is on their class spell list) but is a lower caster level than the scroll and fails to make the caster level check to activate it.
If the user meets all the requirements noted above, and her caster level is at least equal to the spell's caster level, she can automatically activate the spell without a check. If she meets all three requirements but her own caster level is lower than the scroll spell's caster level, then she has to make a caster level check (DC = scroll's caster level + 1) to cast the spell successfully. If she fails, she must make a DC 5 Wisdom check to avoid a mishap (see Scroll Mishaps). A natural roll of 1 always fails, whatever the modifiers. Activating a scroll is a standard action (or the spell's casting time, whichever is longer) and it provokes attacks of opportunity exactly as casting a spell does.
Mishaps are only a thing with UMD when you’re trying to ”activate blindly” which is different than “use a scroll”. Either way, she didn’t fail her UMD check.
Vybus, seeing the tiger appear out of nowhere, suspects it was summoned and casts dispel magic on it to try to end the spell that conjured the creature.
Since it is currently grappling and can't make attacks of opportunity I won't bother casting defensively
caster level check to dispel (DC=11+ spell’s caster level): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Vybus then takes out a scroll of See Invisibility and says to his familiar, ”Max, please come use this scroll and try to locate that rotund mage who seems to have disappeared.”
Max, lyrakien familiar of Vybus |
Max flies 5 feet over to Vybus and takes the scroll of See Invisibility and attempts to activate it.
5’ step (fly), move action to take the scroll, standard action Use Magic Device
UMD DC23: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
DM Elan Morin |
Warpac: unfortunately solid fog prevents any kind of ranged attack that is not a ray, otherwise you would have hit
Warpac's throws his waraxe at the flying and obscured figure but the thick fog causes the weapon to just fall on the floor.
Mutahir wounds the summoned tiger just before Vybus dispells it out of existance while Max uses a scroll to see the invisible... but it appears there's nothinbg to be seen in the room anymore!
Out of combat for now
Warpac |
Warpac's axe flies back to his hand and he exclaims,
"Now where did that bugger get off to?"
Warpac, is sorely tempted to throw his axe and the chancel, but stuffs his frustration down deep and starts searching the room without another word.
DM Elan Morin |
You feel sure something is amiss here...
DM Elan Morin |
Site back... let's hope it stays that way. Vybus understands the fat man probably teleported somewhere near. How do you plan to search for him?
Vybus Abbin |
”Fatso teleported, but probably not far. Max should be able to detect him…”
Warpac |
"We should be able to find him eventually. First we should check out this building and ask the others, then I figure out best bet is down that tunnel we saw earlier after looking for signs of his passage."
Tak is good a tracking. He should be able to tell, I hope.
DM Elan Morin |
Once you reach the entrance room you notice the Shoanti have moved away from the door to the north.
"All of a sudden it started to smell terribly in the vicinity of the door they explain"
Don't forget to move yoursleves on the map
Warpac |
Warpac moves next to the door and listens.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Crowe - Iconic Character |
Crowe follows Warpac as fast as possible.
Crowe - Iconic Character |
”Warpac, can you please use my wand on yourself and the other injured?“
I assume you do. ;-) 0 charges remaining after the below 11 uses.
CLW 3 charges Warpac: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5, 3) + 3 = 12
CLW 5 charges Tak: 5d8 + 5 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 8, 1) + 5 = 25
CLW 3 charges Barm : 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (6, 1, 7) + 3 = 17
Warpac |
Warpac was at -1, not -12, because of the channel he did on Sat, Aug 11, 2018, 09:16 pm. Do not waste the CLW charges. Also, due to the Fey Foundling feat he gets a bonus of 2 HP healed from each CLW so he would have been fully healed after 2 of your charges if he had been at -12. He heals up really fast.
DM Elan Morin |
Ok, moving on...
As Warpac opens the door, disgusting greenish vapours come flooding out of it...
The cloud is so thick you can't see through it but you don't suffer any other negative effect yet. Do you enter into the room?
Warpac |
Warpac gives the others a chance to react first. He's not headed in right away.
Instead he's going to use a pearl of power to restore a divine favor spell. He should have done that before getting to the door, but I forgot.
I think I'll also have him pull out some air crystals.
Mutahir Hashem |
Mutahir frowns at the noxious air.
I don't suppose someone has something to get rid of that gas? I won't be of much use in there...
He twitches his hand over his sword, clearly annoyed and frustrated at the wizard's maneuvering.
Vybus Abbin |
”I should be able to take care of that cloud of vapor.”
Vybus quickly references his spellbook, then recites an arcane incantation. A severe blast of wind shoots from his hands at the noxious cloud.
Spend an arcane pool point to use Quick Study and swap prepared Create Pit spell for Gust of Wind; cast it at the cloud. (if that would initiate combat, that’ll be my first action)
DM Elan Morin |
Nail knows the cloud is (was) the result of a sStinking Cloud spell.
Vybus promptly dispells the cloud.
@Vybus: How many arcane pool points left?
As the cloud disappears the darkness of the room greets you again... but this time something else is waiting for you inside...
Those of you who can see in darkness notice another tiger standing near the flying wizard...
