Cade, did you take the +1 AC bonus for my instructor boon? Just wanted to make sure you didn't forget about it...
GM Mjolbeard
Orophin beat me to the punch with that suggestion. Just put the adjusted AC in brackets or parentheses next to your normal AC.

Bartolomey, as the only ones not captivated, we should probably concentrate on the green harpy (she's the one singing) to try and free the others...or this may be a very short scenario...

@GM Mjolbeard: I'll be incommunicado from the wee hours of Tuesday morning through Friday afternoon. I'll be hiking/camping at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and there's no internet nor cell signals. I've asked Kelemur (aka Batpony) to bot Flyn for me and he has graciously agreed to; he has GM'ed Flyn for seven sessions or so and knows his tendencies and abilities as well as I do. I've also created a 'Bot Me' spoiler at the bottom of Flyn's profile page; it has most of his more commonly used rolls for cutting and pasting as needed...
I can post up until tonight. Y'all kick some butt and I should be able to check back in Friday afternoon/evening...
GM Mjolbeard
Sorry, very very busy time lately. I'm preparing for a cross-country move, which has also included an unusual amount of socializing for me in the evenings. Posting should be able to continue, but at a slower rate than usual. My apologies for the slackened pace.
GM Mjolbeard
It is indeed, Cade. Heading from Denver to Minneapolis. Frankly, I'm just grateful for the holiday weekend. My last day in my current job is Friday, and the first day at the new job is Tuesday. That day off might just be the only thing saving me from total whiplash. Haha!
Cade Greenleaf

Yikes, that's a serious change of environment. Minneapolis has a nice down town, but I wouldn't want to be there for the winter months. I wonder how many days it'll be before you hear about the juicy lucy burger...
Kelumur

I will be on a worktrip Tuesday to Thursday. I expect little to no post updates this time but will try my best to post once a day. Please bot me as necessary!
Flyndyngylyn

Hey GM, did you make it to Minneapolis OK? How was the first day on the new job?
GM Mjolbeard
Hiya folks!
Yup, made it okay to the Twin Cities, and the first day was great! Thanks, Flyn!
Now, back to business for you bunch of heroes.
A quick note for you all, make sure you refer back to the faction missions I posted at the beginning of the scenario. Several of you have already attempted some checks with those in mind, but the time wasn't quite right. Keep looking for opportunities to check off those missions though, as they are important for you if you want to obtain full prestige for this adventure!
GM Mjolbeard
Welcome back, Kelumur!
On that note, I'll be on another long drive over the next couple days. I should be back up and running on Sunday, but I probably won't get any further posts up until then.

Why do we have to do a faction mission? Was not that concept abandoned a few years ago?
Now we have this - LINK
Secondary Success Conditions Document for seasons 0-4
Flyndyngylyn

I think it's at the GM's discretion...I've played other earlier sessions where the GM opted to run with the faction missions...I've also played some earlier ones with the secondary conditions at the link you've posted. As for myself, I like the faction missions when they can fit neatly into a current faction's ideology, which I think they do here...gives the scenario a more personal feel...
GM Mjolbeard
That's a good question, Bartolomey. The only reason I can give you is the honest one: I was unaware of that document. ‾\_(ツ)_/‾
All of you have pretty much taken care of your faction goals at this point, or have plans to do so on the way out, so I'll keep it in there for now. Moving forward, though, I'll be glad to run with those new secondary success conditions, or at least state up front whether or not I'll be using the faction missions. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Thanks for running this, GM, it was a blast! That last fight was was intense there for a while...Tholrist was one tough sonofagun...
Oh, and I miscalculated my starting gold after my purchases...it should read 225 gp...

Well done everyone. That last encounter could have gone south real easy.
And a big thanks to the GM for the run. Season 4 is the Season of Hard Mode.

Great job everyone! We finally made it to the other side!
That last fight was honestly one of the best times I've had as a PbP GM so far, so thanks for allowing me to beat up on your characters a bit. What an NPC! His AC was 27 if you guys didn't figure that out by the end. The number of times you guys got up to a 26 and just missed was unreal!
Anyway, thank you all for playing and for your patience during my down periods. I'm glad we made it through. I plan to have your chronicles to you by tomorrow evening since I have all your day jobs (or lack thereof for the slackers out there) already accounted for.

Agreed, Orophin...when Flyn got blasted from both spells and was sickened and slowed and then Kelumur got knocked out and then paralyzed, I didn't have a warm fuzzy...but our teamwork was good. Kelumur was able to get in a solid wallop on Tholrist before he went down, Orophin was able to keep us standing with his healing and Arnold, Bartolomey, and Cade were able to keep Tholrist bottled up till Flyn was able to shake off the after-effects of the spells...
Yes, GM, that was an awesome last fight...even though the Boss dude had an affinity for blasting a certain Wood Elf! Thanks again!
Good job everyone, enjoyed playing with you all!
GM Mjolbeard
Honestly, the slowed condition that I was able to lay on you two and paralyzing Kelumur helped make that fight for me. It would have been over so much faster if not for that. I'm just glad I gave you guys something to get nervous about for a second. Heheh!
Arnold Perlstein

Yeah, that fight had me a bit worried! Nothing much bad happened to Arnold, though; he was late to the action and let everyone else get hurt. Were he not TN, the alignment spells would've made his day a lot worse. (The Friz has an awful Will save courtesy of Arnold's multiclassing, half his HP, and Evasion doesn't work against such magic.)
Either way, it was a fun scenario, and a lot happened! Thanks aplenty for running!

Thank you all for that great game!
One thing I learned from this one. I will never more play a high subtier game with a low subtier character. I felt totally useless in combat.
Thank you guys!
Kelumur

Yes thanks everyone! It was really a great experience all round, and had great fun being able to play with you all! Especially being able to be on the same table as Flyn this time!

I enjoyed it as well, Batpony...Kelumur and Flyn made a good scouting combo...hope we can do it again sometime!
GM Mjolbeard
As promised, here are your chronicles. Let me know if there are any issues with the chronicles or the reporting.
If there's nothing else, it's been a genuine pleasure playing with you folks! I'm looking forward to doing it again soon!

The pleasure was ours, GM! That was an excellent scenario...a most entertaining, and challenging, one to boot...thanks again for running it!
And my chronicle looks good, 'preciate it!
Orophin Telemnarn

Many thanks.
Back in town, Orophin wants to deliver a speach against Slavery.
(We started in Varissa, right, and I think a degree of slavery is still legal there)
oration DC21: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Indeed, fun was had! Chronicle looks right and everything.

The items (outside of the Core campaign and unique items) don't matter much these days. The short answer is if we play upper tier, you can use both upper and lower. If you play lower tier, just use lower.
But remember that you probably have access to the items anyway, it is just gated by your fame level.
GM Mjolbeard
Orophin is right about the rule in general, Cade. The items on the chronicle sheets basically just gives you "early access" to items you might not be allowed to purchase otherwise because of Fame restrictions. Normally, if the entire party were lower level like yourself and we had run the scenario in the low tier, the items in the upper tier would be crossed out, and you would not have access to them. However, because we ran the scenario in the high tier (albeit with the four player adjustment), you do qualify for the high tier items!
Now it's just up to you to pinch some pennies so you can purchase those really big ticket items!
