Lumnessa Raziel
|
Ooooo! What is this stuff? Lumnessa starts rummaging thought the items on the table.
GM Engleaktig
|
Of particular interest to Lumnessa are two items; they both have a note with a symbol clearly meant to represent the Planes. They are labelled: "wand of magic missile (10 charges)" and "scroll of scorching ray."
Arak sees two items with notes clearly indicating the Nagaji. They are labelled "potion of owl’s wisdom" and "potion of cure light wounds."
It's like this for each and every character. There are notes clearly intended for you, individually.
Berosius: wand of cure light wounds (10 charges) and a scroll of lesser restoration.
Tan'ia: wand of cure light wounds (10 charges) and a scroll of lesser restoration.
Girion: potion of bear’s endurance and an oil of magic weapon.
Harrow: two potions of lesser restoration.
Arak Taral
|
Arak, suspicious, investigates the items before picking them up. T10+9=19 Satisfied they are safe, he will take them and place them in his adventure's sash. "Praise be to Irori."
Lumnessa Raziel
|
WOW! Lumnessa tucks the scroll away and they runs around the room with the wand going, PEW! PEW! at imaginary bad guys.
Berosius
|
Suspicion and curiosity wage a brief war in Berosius's mind. "Who do you suppose put these here?" he asks. "And how did they know our names? Someone from the town must have been here ahead of us. This feels more like some sort of gladiatorial competition all of a sudden. Do you think they're watching us right now?"
He peers about him, suspiciously.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
Harrow looks at all the packages and notes skeptically.
"What all this mean? Hey, a note say 'Harrow' on it! What else it say? Someone read it and I make sure you read it right..."
GM Engleaktig
|
Like the old Popeye cartoons, the notes meant for Harrow show pictures of him getting strong after he quaffs the potions. ;-P
Oh, what the heck...
Beneath the table there's also a basket full of pies. Real ones! Not illusory! One each: cherry (Arak), strawberry (Berosius), apple (Girion), rhubarb (Harrow), blueberry (Lumnessa), and gooseberry (Tan'ia).
The note for Tan'ia has little xoxoxo's on it from that guy in Kassen. So does the pie meant for her.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
"Hmmm...Harrow no like spinach," the half-orc says. "But would Harrow eat spinach if Harrow could not be puny pathetic oracle and get big muscles back?"
He answers is own question without a moment's hesitation by drinking both of the potion, then eating an entire pie (plus any that others don't finish).
"Not taste like spinach."
Not sure what the result is...since this could all be fake.

Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Harrow drinks the first potion. He gets 4 STR back! He eats some pie. He drinks the second potion. He gets another 4 STR back! Now he's only down 3 STR and both Tan'ia and Berosius have scrolls of lesser restoration.
The potions are real.
The pies are real.
The strength is real! :-D
Welcome back, Harrow.
Tan'ia
|
"Hey! This is from the town folks! This one for me is from the young man I will be moving in with when we get out of here!"
She hops off joyously, sits down, and nibbles on the pie.
Girion, Son of Aroden
|
"This town certainly expects a lot from their young people," Girion muses. "Even these gifts would may not assured survival. Although, clearly they did not finish their preparations." Girion picks up the potions and places them in his belt pouch.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
I had my strength as 7 after the drains, then we rested and I got two back. So 9+8 should be at 17, which is just down 1. If we don't think we'll be stat drained again, I wouldn't mind getting one of the scrolls used on me, but if we want to conserve those, I understand...
Harrow rejoices and flexes his muscles. "ALMOST back like before...I only have tiny part oracle still..." he smiles.
Lumnessa Raziel
|
Do we have to go back through the scary hallway? Lumnessa asks nervously once she realizes that they can't just hang out in this room till someone rescues them.
GM Engleaktig
|
Yes, there's a door in room 6 that you haven't been through, yet.
The party carefully backtracks to the key pool room. This door is locked, but the key from room 5 (where the shadow was) opens it.
A small stone bench sits in the center of this dusty chamber. On the far wall is a faded mural depicting the hero Kassen defeating the mercenaries at the entrance to this crypt, with his blade piercing the chest of the mercenary leader. These figures stand alone in the center of a scene of carnage, with dead villagers and mercenaries all around them.
Berosius
|
I think it might be wise to preserve our lesser restoration scrolls for now. It's a crypt. We could easily wind up needing them again.
"It'a alright, Lumnessa," says Berosius, cheerfully. "I won't let anything happen to you!"
GM Engleaktig
|
Berosius: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Girion: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
Harrow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Lumnessa: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
Tan'ia: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Sorry about the low rolls, guys.
Harrow is the only one to notice: the mural in this chamber is meant to show the final battle between Kassen and his foe. Both Kassen and the mercenary leader are wearing golden necklaces, each made up of a simple golden chain, from which hangs an oddly shaped medallion. While not identical, the amulets look similar.
Hmmm...
Remember, the founder of the town of Kassen, whose name was also Kassen, died defending the town against a band of mercenaries.
Lumnessa Raziel
|
They should name a town after me. Lumnessa sounds like a very nice place to live.
Berosius
|
"It does," agrees Berosius, nodding agreeably.
Turning his attention to the big human warrior and the tapestry, he continues. "Maybe those amulets are important," says Berosius. "Can you see any details, Girion?"
Harrow Tatterhood
|
Harrow looks at the mural. Though not usually one to notice things, he says "Maybe one more oracle thing, then I done with oracle. Amulets on both those guys. They look kind of the same. Maybe amulets important later on. Okay, I done saying so many words," he says.
The half-orc frowns, a look of perpetual impulsiveness returning to his face. "Where we go now? Down hall?" he asks.
pointing toward the south of room 7
Harrow Tatterhood

Now mostly back to full strength, Harrow confidently enters the room.
"Come out, monsters! Harrow here for you!" he yells.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Lumnessa Raziel

Lumnessa wants to be up front but knows that the others wouldn't go for it, so she stays in the back.
GM Engleaktig
|
OK. Harrow opens the door. A single pillar in the center of the room supports this wide, domed chamber. The pillar is surrounded by a pit, but a stone bridge crosses the pit on the south side. Dozens of arrows jut from holes in the pillar, facing every direction.
Feel free to move yourselves on the map.
What would the party like to do?
Girion, Son of Aroden
|
Girion enters the room (without pushing past everyone, but I've moving my icon to where I want to end up). He renews his halo of light, and carefully studies both the pillar and the rest of the room. He is particularly alert for shadows, as the last one scared the bejeesus out of him.
Lumnessa Raziel
|
Lumnessa moves into the room and looks around in awe, Neat!
Oh god we are all going to die :o
Harrow Tatterhood
|
"Wait reckless nome! Not even Harrow that crazy! You not want to be human pincushion, do you nome?"
Harrow remains in the entry to the room, carefully studying the walls for any traps that might be firing arrows at the pillar in the center.

take 20 perception
I don't think it's a stretch to say that the entire party is very, very, very suspicious of the pillar with all those arrows. Harrow notices that the arrows are all blunt. Though, from hos position at the room's doorway, it's hard for him to know more.
** spoiler omitted **
I hope not. But, thank you all for not metagaming this. :-D
Berosius and Tan'ia have yet to declare their actions. Then, I'll let you know what happens.
