Strange... combat occurred and yet I'm still standing...
Ha! :-)
__________(NEW MAP. This is room 13.) Here, the floor bears an inscription spiraling out from the pillar and written in Common. It reads: To the south you might take your ease, to rest and reflect on Kassen’s deeds. To the east lies the wheel, to open the gate. To the west is the resting place of Kassen, hero of the Fangwood. What would the party like to do?
Harrow Tatterhood
|
Harrow looks at the three corridors and the sign, unsure which way to go.
"Someone read sign and I make sure it say what you said," the half-orc requests.
We already rested above...I think we're probably good to continue on...that said, seems like resting place of Kassen might be good...

"I smell dead people..." Harrow whispers.
He very carefully moves into the room, wary of repeating the same scenario upstairs where the shadow drained his strength.
take 20 perception: 20 + 3 = 23

Harrow moves into the room, triggering the next combat. There are 4 undead of some kind laying in wait here. (Something seems different about these undead.)
Berosius: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Girion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Harrow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Lumnessa: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Tan'ia: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Red: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Orange: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Green: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Blue: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Orange: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Green: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Blue: 1d20 ⇒ 18
None of the undead were good at hiding. Harrow could smell where they were. So, no surprise round.
Lumnessa: 19
Orange: 19
Green: 18
Harrow: 17
Blue: 13
Girion: 9
Tan'ia: 8
Berosius: 6

Before the enemy can act, Arak and Lumnessa are up! This is round 1. (MAP)

What's going on n there!?!? Lumnessa calls from the back of the group.
Delay, I can't do anything right now.

The orange undead attacks Arak. The nagaji notices that this foul smelling thing has heaving, throbbing pustules all over it.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 , Ouch!
As the thing slams into Arak, some of the pustules erupt. The noxious goop inside gets on the Monk's skin.
Arak Fort Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 , Whew!
The monk's training keeps him calm as he feels the corruption sink into him. Thankfully, his oneness of mind and body stave off any ill effects... for now...
____________________________________________________________
The green undead steps forward to slam Harrow:
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 , Miss!
As it rears back to strike, one of the pustules in its feet bursts with a juicy POP! Even Lumnessa in the back can hear it. The undead thing slips in the goop a little and fails to connect with the half-orc.

Lumnessa comes our of delay and double moves--provoking from green as she passes by.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
One of green's pustules erupts on contact with Lumnessa's noggin.
Lumnessa Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 , Uh oh. :-(
The little gnome doesn't feel too good. Onset: 1d4 ⇒ 2

OUCH! My bad I didn't see your post until after I posted. I had meant to come off delay right after Arak before the Zombies.
Never mind I don't want to see anymore. Lumnessa wines from the corner.
GM Engleaktig
|
No worries. We can retcon that. I don't want to be that strict about the asynchronous nature of posting. :-) Especially since we composed our posts at nearly the same time.
Lumnessa comes out of delay just in time to see the raging combat between the undead horrors and her friends.

Orange: 19
Green: 18
Harrow: 17
Blue: 13
Girion: 9
Tan'ia: 8

Harrow, distracted by the gnome's time-shifting retcon effect, fails to injure his foe.
Blue moves over next to Arak.
Girion, Tan'ia, and Berosius are up! This is round 1. (MAP)

Sorry Harrow!
Thank you GM!
Girion, Son of Aroden
|
Girion moves forward past Harrow and the green zombie, cutting off the blue one from advancing. Assuming I don't get dropped by the AO... "Father, guide my sword!" he shouts, and slashes at the blue zombie.
Longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Ouch... guess Dad wasn't listening!

The Son of Aroden also just climbed atop a catacomb structure. I'm fine with it, if you are. Just realize you're not on the floor. I have outlined the catacombs in yellow on the map to make them more clear.
Also, here's a good representation of what you just climbed.
Girion, Son of Aroden
|
Hmm... no, climbing onto dead people isn't very respectful. Girion instead tries to bullrush the green zombie backwards (which will trigger an AO to replace the one I won't get for leaving threatened squares).
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Lumnessa: I had Aroden Reborn at my table at PaizoCon one year... great fun! I'm jealous.
GM Engleaktig
|
1d20 ⇒ 4 Woo hoo! Girion avoids the AoO and pushes green back! Do you wish to move along with your target?
The module implies treating the catacombs like walls: "The walls are skillfully carved with deep recesses where bodies might have once lain." The party entered combat right away, but it's obvious once you all have a moment to take a look around that this area has been set upon by tomb robbers. Furthermore, the undead attacking you are "too fresh." Perhaps this is what happens to tomb robbers?

"Oh, bother," says Berosius, more annoyed than terrified. "Does no one sanctify the ground before burying their dead?"
He hustles forward and reaches out a hand to grasp Lumnessa's, passing on the blessings of Milani.
wand of cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Boo!
GM Engleaktig

Yes please... can I push him farther, up a square to towards the top of the map?
Okie dokie. I've updated the map.
"Oh, bother," says Berosius, more annoyed than terrified. "Does no one sanctify the ground before burying their dead?"
He hustles forward and reaches out a hand to grasp Lumnessa's, passing on the blessings of Milani.
wand of cure light wounds Boo!
I think Arak is the only injured party member right now. We retcon'ed Lumnessa's damage.

Moved. You're only going to get 2 of the undead because of cover.

Ouch! Arak is slammed hard. Again, several pustules erupt and foul corruption makes contact with the Nagaji's scales: Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 (Uh oh!) Arak doesn't feel well: Onset: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Green attacks Girion: Slam+Flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9, Miss!

|
Why is it that the orange one got to attack me twice in the same round?
Apparently I'm cross-eyed and confused! :-) Sorry about that, Arak; my mistake. That should have been red's attack, not orange. I was trying to post in a quick moment between holiday activities. Since it was my error, no enemy hits any of the party.
This should be round 2.
Arak and Lumnessa are up. And Harrow will obliterate one of the undead on his turn--given his previous roll.
Arak Taral
|
No problem. Thanks GM :)
Arak tries his best to end the orange zombie threat!
Kama flurry 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 slashing
Kama flurry 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 slashing

Green attacks Girion: slam+flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10, Miss!
Harrow is up! (Taking the roll from last time, cuz I messed up initiative order... Uh.. Drat! Harrow isn't next to any enemies!)
Harrow, please take your turn. This is round 2. (MAP)
Girion, Son of Aroden
|
On Girion's turn, he will mock the green zombie: "You are powerless against a descendant of Aroden himself! May Pharasma turn a blind eye to the crimes you have committed after your first death!" He will then attack the green zombie with his longsword.
longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Green Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5, Fail
Red Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17, Succeed
Two of the enemy seem a bit more haggard in their appearance.
