Arak Taral
|
Oh, if I can take a standard attack with the dagger I'll happily do so...
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The extra +1s may or may not be a magic dagger :)
Round 2:
Arak jumps to the other side of the flaming pit and stabs at the shadow!
Should just be a 5' step, maybe? But just in case...Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Girion, Son of Aroden
|
Girion casts cure light wounds from memory (not his wand), intentionally leaving himself open to draw the shadow's attention (and AO).
He grasps at the shadow with his free hand, hoping the positive energy destroys the thing.
melee touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Of course, great damage on a likely miss... :/
GM Engleaktig
|
@Arak: Yep. Let's call the party moving into position the "surprise round." Unfortunately, your first attack misses; your second attack hits! The shadow takes 2 HP of damage (11 HP total so far).
@Girion: You didn't include the flank, though that would still miss. You still have the charge in your hand.
AoO on Girion: Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 , Str Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 The Son of Aroden feels a little weaker.
The rest of the party is up! This is round 2.
Lumnessa Raziel
|
As Girion distracts the undead monster Lumnessa prepares to burn the shadow, but in a rare flash of wisdom decides that it in might not be a great an idea right now. Instead her eyse go wide and she whispers I'll show you real darkness... as she opens a rip in the fabric or reality.
Black Motes:
1d4 ⇒ 2 DC 15 to negate
FYI the shadow is not silenced for 1 round since i failed its save vs burning hands :)
Harrow Tatterhood
|
Harrow continues his rants. "Show new weak oracle powers! Haunt room and make things move! Make bad spirits go away!"
intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Girion, Son of Aroden
|
Girion staggers after the hit, somewhat surprised he was able to maintain his concentration as his life force was sucked out of him. Maybe they aren't that tough after all...
Suddenly he remembers why shadows are so dangerous! "If I fall, just run and leave my body behind! Anything slain by this monster will become like it!"
Berosius
|
Sounding more determined than his companions have ever heard him, Berosius says "Nobody dies on my watch!" through gritted teeth.
wand of cure light wounds plus flanking: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 = 241d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Critical Hit Confirmation: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 = 241d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
9 points. Will save for half (DC 11)
Berosius
|
"Oh my," says Berosius, face flushed with effort. "How sad. To be just the echo of someone who was once alive, but to know that you were no more than that. I... I think this is for the best."
Then the little oracle puts his wand away with an introspective air, considering how fragile life is.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
Harrow looks excited but disturbed.
"My oracle powers work! Bad spirit gone! Now we both haunted, and both weak and puny," he says to Berosius.
He looks around the room, still holding the key. "This open something..."
take 20 perception: 20 + 3 = 23
Arak Taral
|
Arak asks, "Are we ok? I know Harrow's strength is drained." Taking a moment to look at the dagger he retrieved from the fire, Arak has to peel it out of his hand where the flesh was seared. "You guys did a really great job against that wretched beast!"
Lumnessa Raziel
|
My Hero! Lumnessa cries as she gives Berosius a big hug. I wish I had a magic wand! The gnome then goes about the room pretending to fight some unseen menace, waving a make-believe wand like a sword.
GM Engleaktig
|
On the way back to Roldare's room, the party checks out the final door to the west. It's a one-way door. There's no way to open it at all from this side--short of breaking through it. Breaking through would be a loud, arduous, tiring effort.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
"Not sure how oracle break down door...how we get through now?" Harrow muses.
"Ask haunty spirits open from other side?" he asks.
GM Engleaktig
|
Most of you have played this already, but for the one or two who haven't, I wanted to give you a feel for the Crypt till this point. Here is a map of what you've covered so far. :-)
Harrow Tatterhood
|
Okay, so we can do stairs, too? 1st time on this for me...
"We try stairs then?" Harrow asks.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
Harrow moves to the door. "Oracle spirits, open door!" he yells loudly and repeatedly.
Assuming his new oracle powers don't work, he then does this...
Harrow weeps bitterly at the door and pounds both fists into it. In a fit of rage, he swings his nodachi weakly at the door.
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (10) - 2 = 8
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (10) - 2 = 8
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
He pauses to breathe heavily.
"AAAAAAHHHhhhahhhahahah!!!"
Then pounds some more.
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
"NNNNNNnnnnnn-ggggggggaaaHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
He kicks the door once with his foot, then swings again.
"Gaaaaaaahhhhh!!!"
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5
MW nodachi attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12 for damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
Regardless of how this turns out...
Harrow collapses in a bumbling heap on the floor.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
Harrow, flat on his back, finally regains some measure of composure.
"Harrow remember other door in big room we come in first. Maybe just go back there..."
Harrow hate being oracle...
Berosius
|
Berosius snaps his fingers as the memory comes back to him. "You're right, Harrow! There was another door there, wasn't there. On the right-hand side as we came in. We went left. Perhaps that is the only way forward now."
"See?" asks the halfling, cheerfully peering up at the half-orc. "Your oracle powers are working after all!"
GM Engleaktig
|
The door to the room at the West side of the Entrance Hall (Room 1) is locked. Though it seems to be less sturdy than the one-way door against which Harrow expended much fury.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
"Someone want to unlock door? Harrow's way not work very well...oracles puny," Harrow says.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
"Ohhh!!!" Harrow says with a smile. "Oracle powers make Harrow smart! Harrow has key!!!" he says as he removes the key from his pocket and tries the door.
Lumnessa Raziel
|
Lumnessa pats Harrow on the back reassuringly. I could try and burn it down. she offers thoughtfully.
Harrow Tatterhood
|
"Harrow have to do everything? Anyone want to try open door, or Harrow try Harrow's old way that he not very good at anymore?" the half-orc says.
