I'm really interested with this, but I've never played anything PFS before. I've played in some homebrew games, though. Would that make me a bad applicant or may I still apply?
Unless you've previously done something really egregious, it's difficult to be a bad applicant as such. On PFS - I will be figuring some of it out myself and everyone has to start somewhere.
Selection will come down to a number of things - I am looking for at least some of the group, probably preferably the majority, to have some track record, but inexperience is by no means a bar. The other likely consideration is party balance.

I'd like to pull myself out of this; while I'm certain it would be fun, and it seems like the early season stuff is the least popular (and thus less-often ran), and I think it would be cool to play them sequentially like this, I can't get into the spirit of the character. I feel like it would adversely affect my RP, and for a PbP format, I don't think that would work.

Xaaven was born and raised in Absalom. His parents worked as merchants in a store run by a retired Pathfinder. Virgil was a rogue and had freed his parents from slavery during one of his last missions. While Xaaven did as his parents asked and helped around the shop, he was fascinated by the stories from current and former Pathfinders. He decided at an early age that he wanted to travel the world in search of treasure. Virgil taught him how to pick locks (and pockets), disable traps, and how to protect himself. Xaaven honed his skills acting as security for the shop by watching patrons and even following thieves in order to re-acquire the goods they had stole. Eventually, Virgil introduced him to members of “The Exchange” where he would complete missions to further improve his skills. When his training was complete, he set off to become a Pathfinder.

Apologies to all, have been more offline than expected on this current trip. I'd like to assure everyone this isn't the normal case.
My normal procedure would be to contact the selected individuals directly and check availability before posting here, but this has run too late already.
