Valeros The Free |
Valeros, as a pregen, has weapon focus (Longsword). It would not be optimal for him to take the spear given that. Could he use it? Sure. But it'd be a 'wash' mechanically.
"We almost done with the keg? If so, we can just leave the empty here? We're going to have to come back to pack up the lab anyway, right?"
Ray Hogan |
"Well, where would someone hide the best treasures? Behind a big pit, or hidden behind a secret door. Since the door is no longer a secret, and the pit is more difficult to circumvent, I vote for the secret door."
Creat the Cheat |

I don't know. Have you ever thrown a longsword? And there's +1 damage to consider.
Valeros The Free |
"Let's check that door behind us and make a clean sweep in that direction. That way we don't get any rude surprises when we're trying to navigate the pit? Remember, how we got down here was via secret doors?"
Since no one seems to want the spear, Valeros will take it and tie it to his pack just in case someone needs it.
For clarity, vote for secret door and anything in the 'southeast corner' before moving 'northward'
Tanna Giantsmite |
Tanna smiles politely as the other older members decide which way to go, happy to be adventuring at all.
I'm good with whatever direction we go... up just seems to be returning to the beginning...
Tyranius Stormbringer |
Tyranius awaits Valeros to open the secret door and pass through. He places his falchion back in its scabard.
GM Andrew |
Valeros opens the secret door, and there is a very long hallway visible from the door. Strangely enough, there's also four skeletons there with shortbows. They turn to attack. Looks like they might be dropping their bows! Looks like they were expecting company from down the hallway, but not really from this direction!

How about the stairs?
That is another option I missed. I'll take it (especially since it is short).
You head up the stairs that lead up 60 ft. to another secret door that you are on the other side of (the theme of this dungeon).
Upon opening the secret door, you find yourself to what looks like outside of the crypt and back in the catacombs. Seems you have found another exit from the crypt that maybe the church doesn't even know about.
Tyranius Stormbringer |
Tyranius holds forth the chime of opening. Seems we don't need to hold back any further.
Tyranius moves to the southern door. Let's see what is in here.
Laeowynne Faelandalan |
"What pray-tell are you all chattering about?" Laeowynne asks the others and they get the sense he does not do well in stressful situations nor does he understand the levity of small talk...
Valeros The Free |
If resting is an option without ending the mission, I say we take advantage of that, but be ready to go HFS dump healing on Val if the door to the south sucks. And let's put Creat up there to check for traps, just in case?
GM Andrew |
I'm not "that kind" of GM to not let a party rest during a full length module (I hate that myself honestly)... especially a 1-2, and even more especially with a way to get back to the city really easily. And with that, people can make purchases in town or use Prestige in town, since it's Kaer Maga and is gigantic. May not want to rest all the time though. The Pharasmites are worried!
Valeros The Free |
"It helps a great deal, thank you. Drink?" Valeros will pull out a keg and offer it to Tanna And the rest of the party, if desired before fortifying himself and heading to the 'south' door.
Thank you.
