Trying to comprehend all of this Laeowynne blurts out rather haphazardly "So if I understand this then HE being Svilennius went mad from his desires and stole bodies from the crypt to continue his experiments and you have been islated down here for ages.... fascinating...oh excuse me if I offend."

"How much of the crypts have you explored, and could you give us a tour, perhaps? We're supposed to explore the entirety of them and deal with whoever is stealing the deceased from their resting place."
K: Religion(Untrained, on Pharasma's commonly known issues): 1d20 ⇒ 16
"Um, and... uh, not to put too fine a point on it, but it may not go very well for him or you given he's been trying to bring people back from the dead and Pharasma's really against that kind of thing, right? I mean, that's why they do all the temple stuff and watch over the dead, right?"
Tyranius Stormbringer

Tyranius thinks for a minute. I have no reason to destroy you. He grunts. Perhaps the Venture Captain can find a place and purpose for you among the Pathfinders?
| GM Andrew |
I apologize, but I am no adventurer. I have been sickly for a very long time and very much would like to live out my undeath more peacefully to make up for lost time, and also spend time researching a reversal. I could live in the Ankar-Te district here in Kaer Maga. They are very accepting of undead there.

"Surely we can ask... since ye seem to be, well... non-violent. Will ye tell tha tale of yer late husband to the priestess o' Pharsma up the top side, lettin' er know tha re-animations will cease?"

"Tanna, that'd be like an orc walking into a dwarf place tellin' folks that attacks are gonna stop. How far do you think an orc would get in those circumstances? Torag'd more than likely smite the unlucky devil himself, right?"
"Before we go about talkin' about turnin' folks in or not, we do need to get some rest and we do need t' figure out what all else is going on here, right?"
Tyranius Stormbringer

I highly doubt the Pharasman's above will take to kindly to you I am afraid. BUt the choice is still yours.
Tyranius shrugs his shoulders caring little either way. We should still find that place to rest if we are going to.
Creat the Cheat

Fine here. After she's gone, Creat tosses the place. He starts with any cabinets and takes 20 (2 minutes each search attempt) for 25 (26 for traps).

Does she tell us anything else about the crypts or doesn't she know? Other than that, give her a warning that she shouldn't come back here because that's going to go badly for her when the Pharasmins come down here...
| GM Andrew |
She tells you what she knows.
Back near my husband's lab, there is a staircase that you probably already found. That staircase leads to a hidden door to head back into the catacombs that the Pharasmans don't know about. My husband was smart enough to not steal any bodies in proximity to this exit so that they wouldn't suspect to look there. You can use it to exit this place, and I will also be using it to sneak my way out of here. The door is quite easy to spot from this side.
My husband and I also explored the crypt some. Through some secret doors to the west, there's a large room with 8 statues. We climbed up and went through the north doorway, and wound through some hallways. I think we were on the far north end of the crypt where we found a room with a very large pit, and something pretty scary crawled out of it. We left before we found out what it was. There was also a door with a Sihedron star to the west in the hallway. We didn't explore what was beyond.
She continues explaining areas of the crypt, all the rest of which you have already explored. This includes the large room you found, but she seems to only know about the secret door you found and all the passageways inbetween you took to get to where you are now. She also describes the room south of where you are where you fought the skeleton and zombie, and the hallway where you fought the four skeletons in close quarters.

Laeowynne stays out of the way of the rogue and just watches the man work in awe of his lack of ethics...'this would never happen at the university' the elf thinks to himself...

Tyranius gives the corpse woman his thanks as she leaves. Grabbing a fair bit of comfortable real estate he sets about to getting some deserved rest.

"Well, see ya around then." Creat moves to shake the woman's hand, realizes she's a zombie and turns it into a sort of lame salute. "Good luck with your future li- well, future."
I vote we run him through. If he's any good a this bringing stuff back from the dead then there should be no problem. If not, well then it will be valuable experience for him. Besides she didn't mention taking him, so finders keepers.

Tyranius moves to the alchemist and begins to bind the man and tosses him into the corner. We can return for him later. Strip him of everything on his body.
Laeowynne Faelandalan

Laeowynne is reading in his spellbook when the discussion concerning the alchemist occurs and hastily votes to bind the man without looking up from the pages.
| GM Andrew |
Alright, so seems like people are good with keeping him here bound for now and heading back. Will play off of that.
You head back into the catacombs using the separate exit. Esme follows you out into the catacombs with her two zombie companions for protection. She has a suitcase in hand.
She points to the fastest way to get out and back to the city, and says she will be taking the long way to avoid any Pharasmans. "I thank you for letting me go and for not outright killing my husband. I won't forget this!"
| GM Andrew |
"My order of business now is trying to reverse the zombie process, not make more!" With that, she nods to the party and heads out.
You make your way through the catacombs, but it's not long before you find yourself at the door from wence you entered. You head towards where you think the entrance was, until eventually you run across Valanthe, still inside the catacombs but busy with her works. She spots you and asks "Did you find anything? Did you find the culprit? Or do you need to go back?"
Valeros The Free

"We've explored about a quarter of the place, maybe a third if you're charitable, and found another exit to the place. No idea where it comes out in relation to town, we need to rest up and head back in for a more thorough investigation of the remainder. And we're pretty sure we've secured the culprit, but we want to be sure."
Confused to heck and gone here, if we were going to leave and find the main entrance and our contact, why didn't we take the bound and gagged fellow WITH us? Did I miss a post or something?
Laeowynne Faelandalan
|
someone posted we would turn the individual over to the Pharasmins so would we have not brought the bound man with us to give to them?
Creat the Cheat

Crap they'll think she's property, like museum exhibit.
"I know right? Right?" Creat says stepping forward and flexing like a marble statue model--only one with more of a slacker's pre-dad bod all covered in adventuring spelunker's gear. "It's pretty incredible isn't it? It's like I've got this crazy situation going on here."
bluff (distraction): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 ;)
| GM Andrew |
Wait... hold up. Let's get this under control real quick.
So, Esme decided to leave the party. There's no way she would come with you the way you would want to come out, so she waved farewell to the party. So, the body you have with you is the alchemist.
I think either way, the party is getting a rest, but since we gone this far to contact the contact, might as well finish out that RP.
Sorry for the confusion!

Valeros deposits the unconscious body of the really tough alchemist on the floor.
"So far, we've encountered this guy who seems to have some sort of thing for making undead. Based on an entrance we found that didn't seem to be guarded, it's a pretty safe bet that he's the one raiding the resting dead.
However, we don't know that for sure, so after we get some rest we'd like to continue our explorations just to make sure. Sound good?"
Tyranius Stormbringer
|
He had an entire lab that looked dedicated to experimenting on the dead down in the crypts. Tyranius adds to Valero's description.
| GM Andrew |
Valanthe looks him over. "Oh my. I recognize him. I didn't know him all that well but I remember that he got excommunicated from the church. Oh my indeed. Alchemical lab? Experimenting on dead? This doesn't bode well for him at all. We'd like to take him into custody. In the meantime, I'd still like you to clear out the place, but of course you are allowed to rest in the meantime. Hopefully the bodies will stop disappearing. We'll know tonight at least! I greatly appreciate your investigation!"
