Hey, check out this thing! Orion walks up and almost grabs a kukri sitting on the sole body of the statue that didn't attack them. But then a vision of the whole place exploding as a result of a trap goes quickly through his head. **SHUDDER**
Hey Shi, can you come do that "squinty eye" thing over here, and make sure that this thing doesn't have an alarm of some sort?

![]() |

Amnur steps over to observe the squinty-eyed process, and speaks as he leans in for a good look, most likely hampering Shi's own investigation with his squat body, "Yeah, and then there's a door to the east I'd like checked out next please."

![]() |

Hearing Amnur and Orion's requests for her skills, Shilyn walks over. "Oh, yah.. sure," she says with a feigned indignant voice, "I see how it is.. Y'all just like me 'cuz I'm useful. And um.. I don't have squinty eyes.. they're beautifully almond shaped thank you very much."
With a grin, she handles each request in turn.
spot for Orion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Convinced it's safe, she gives him a thumbs up and walks over to the door. "Of course, I'm amazed you remembered to let me check before you do that dwarfy thing to it." She gives the dwarf a pat on the shoulder in passing.
spot for Orion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
"Yup, looks clear. You can now proceed to go all dwarf on the door. hah!"

Nice, I like the disclaimer.
Orion takes the kukri, ready to jump in any given direction if needs be.
Supposing nothing out of the ordinary happens he will look at it, and then give it to the dwarf and rogue for inspection.
Hey, this thing has a shiny jewel on it... That means it is dwarvish, right?

![]() |

Amnur claps Shi on the shoulder, "Thanks Shi, always knew I could count on you for the squinty-eyed stuff!" and shoves open the door.

![]() |

Varian watches and listens to the banter between the others and grins. He stands behind Amnur as the dwarf opens the door, looking out for any trouble beyond the door.

Drawing her rapier, Shilyn bounces it in her hand a couple times and smiles at its more familiar feel. "Ok boys and girls, let's see what's behind door number two," she says quietly as she steps past Amnur and into the room beyond.
Her eyes in motion, she tries to keep her steps light as she enters and takes a step to the right, staying close to the wall.

As you approach the door, the reasons for being wary are obvious; once an exotic piece of wood with a frosted glass window at the top, the glass is shattered on the floor and the door itself battered repeatedly with dents. Within the room, several desks lie overturned, papers in disarray, and chairs smashed to kidnling. A sturdy steel cabinet sits against the back wall, its doors much battered and dented like the door you just entered. The mist here roils near the floor and ceiling, creating a strange patch of visibility stretching from knee-height to a few feat overhead. The smoky tendrils flow up and down the walls unnaturally and savage visages swirl to life, fanged mouths agape, before dissolving into mist once more.
Ie, you have all disembarked from the creepy train. Welcome to Creepyville. Population: you?

"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call.. the Twilight Zone."

![]() |

"This just get's better and better. What this place needs is a good scrubbing I think, and a few more torches, then it could be quite cozy!" says the dwarf as he enters. "What a mess, something had quite the tantrum in here." He'll move around the room, glancing at a few papers and sliding open a few cabinet drawers. "Anyone see anything useful?"
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Amnur as you walk into the room, looking at papers, nothing seems to catch your eyes as you scan through the mist for something of importance. As he steps up, he feels some wetness on his booted foot. Waving the mist away, the partially dismembered corpse of what appears to be a museum worker lies only 5 feet away. Amnur tightens the grip on his axe and only makes out, "Oh Sh-" before a powerful thud slams him from above; Shilyn is not alone and is also assaulted with a maddening screech being the only forwarning to the attack.

From ceiling-charge slam @ Flat-footed Amnur: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage on hit: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
While the surprise blow bounces harmless off of Amnur's hard head (and helmet), Shilyn takes the sucker punch head-on. They (and Varian as he approaches the room) see a pair of crazed looking humans, covered in blood on their hands, barely grunting out words of "more... more". They suspiciously eye the scarves on Shilyn and Amnur and begin to make swiping motions to yank them off!
Finally, everyone (even those not in the room) can hear muffled screaming in the office room; Shilyn and Amnur can tell it's coming from the steel cabinet in the back.

Crazed Man 2
Flori
Orion

And just to head things off, the first crazed man, seeing Amnur as a giant can of dwarf tuna with the scarf as the tab, steps over to flank the stonelord and take protective wrap!
Amnur, you will get an Attack of Opportunity against this (it's a Steal Combat Maneuver)
Steal @ Amnur's Scarf: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
@Amnur: Unless you finish this guy off in 1 hit, you'll have to make a Will save as mist now invades your now exposed nostrils and mouth.

LOL love the picture on the map!
AoO on Man 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 161d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Amnur swings his axe reflexively as the lunatic moves to flank him, plenty of power behind the blow.
Amnur jerks his head away from the grasping lunatic, and tries to focus against the (possibly) encroaching mists. He's a bit too slow, and the scarf is pulled away, oozing mists rushing into his lungs as he pulls in the labored breaths of combat. His whole body stills for a half-second as the mist works its way in... when finally he sneezes explosively! The mists forcibly ejected and Amnur shrugging it off as the nuisance that it is, "Bloody mists clearing out my sinuses!" Expecting Varian or Shi will move to flank the foe to his north, he stays put. Whipping his arm down he chops down sharply at the crazy man attacking him. Man 1 if he's alive still, Man 2 if he's the only target, obviously. :)

As the mist tries to work itself into your mind and body, your natural dwarven resilience, coupled with the numerous rounds of alcohol at the inn earlier this evening, is too much for it to handle and it is expulsed from your body.
Ie: you smoked, but did not inhale. Also, at this point on, you are immune to the mist as it finds you and your beard too intimidating.
Amnur's swing holds true and cuts deeply into the crazed man. However, even the force of his swing is not enough to stop the madness controlling him and with a two-handed yank, Amnur's scarf is ripped off. The mist swirls into his mouth, but with an alcohol and snot-laced sneeze, it is violently and disgustingly evacuated from his body.
Amnur, smiling at his apparent immunity to monkey madness, swings his axe once again, cutting into the same unarmored man with ease; even a second blow is not enough to bring him down, though.
The other crazed man, seeing Amnur breath easily in the mist-tainted environment, howls out some warcries and assaults the dwarf.
Flanked Slam @ Amnur: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage on a hit: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
In shock that the unarmed lunatic is still alive after two powerful blows, Amnur's guard is let down for just an instant: one maniac opposite him takes advantage of and slams a fist into dwarven beard and face.
Because it was posted in order, figured I might as well put in the extra flavorful battle text now and save me trouble for the round recap. Now, it is PC time! Let's see some damage!

Close, but on the dot Shilyn; the raving man is too busy wailing on Amnur and just realizes your intentions when you slip behind him.
If Guy one is still up by your initiative Shilyn, you'll get the flanking sneak attack against him; otherwise I'll try to put you as best I can within flank-ability. :)

![]() |

I didn't realize Varian would get aoo'd if he moved into flank - so he just moved into the room, will flank next round with a 5' step if the opponent is still up. So adjust my attack roll down by 2 (from 18 to 16)... hope that hits!

![]() |

Varian has no acrobatics skill, so probably not something he'd even attempt

![]() |

Yah Varian! Shi did it.. you gonna let a girl beat you? hahah
Now you see why Brayden doesn't trust Shi.. she's an instigator :)

![]() |

lol, yeah, gonna let a girl beat me... after all, this is Shi's forte - sneakiness and agility - not mine... maybe I'll take a couple of rogue levels later to get some acrobatics and stealth :)

Finally, Amnur yells out towards the back of the office, "Don't worry, Cabinet-Dweller! Help has arrived!". This in turn gets a reply: "No! No! They're mad! MAD! They ripped poor Milgen to shreds! Oh why did I show up early today... *sob sob*"
The other crazed man, seeing Amnur breath easily in the mist-tainted environment, howls out some warcries and assaults the dwarf. In shock that the unarmed lunatic is still alive after two powerful blows, Amnur's guard is let down for just an instant: one maniac opposite him takes advantage of and slams a fist into dwarven beard and face.
Flori moves up to the aasimar, channeling the very essence of rage and concentrates it into the palm of her half-orcish hand. With an oddly calm look on her face, she taps Varian before he moves into the room, his muscles spasming with temporary vigor.
Orion then immediately runs up, firing an arrow at the first target he sees. I'm going to make a new roll for this because from your position, you'd only get a single shot off.
Orion PBS arrow @ Crazy guy 2: 1d20 + 6 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 - 4 + 1 = 20
Damage on hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
The raving mongrel turns towards the door where Orion plucked an arrow from behind Varian who slips into the room, and trying to maneuver for a flank with Amnur, but stopping to take caution after seeing the dwarf with his scarf ripped off; he becomes very protective of his own, ready to strike at anything that tries to snag it. "Shi, careful of your scarf, they are trying to take them, make us vulnerable to the mists, whatever that might do." The aasimar then forms a greatsword from his flesh and strikes at the foe attacking Amnur from behind Without the Acrobatics, you wouldn't be able to a position to strike at Amnur's primary target. The blow easily connects and the crazed man is limping from his injuries, but shows no signs of stopping.
Wincing in pain after being slammed against the wall, Shilyn watches as the two crazed men claw at Amnur's face. Temporarily given a respite, Shilyn proceeds to try and drive her rapier through the closest one... and by slipping behind the foe who was focused on Amnur's scarf, she manages to slip her rapier point behind the right shoulder blade.
Mylvwara moves up adjacent to Flori.
Round 1 Recap:
Surprise! Crazed Man 1 attacks Shi, is wounded for 3 damage.
Surprise! Crazed Man 2 attacks Amnur, misses.

Does Amnur also get an AoO on Crazy Man 2 as he's threatening? Perhaps maybe possibly almost....? Also, purloining is a great word. As is probity. and congarts. Ok I'm done.

![]() |

@Amnur: Huh, so it would. You may choose to use it on Crazy Man 1 since Crazy Man 2 just went down (and the same principle applies. Note, this is a lesson for the GM who thought that using combat maneuvers only triggered AoO's against the target. Whoops. Take him down Amnur!
Poor Crazy Man 2... he doesn't even get a chance to grab Varian's scarf as a quick sword to the head brings him down. As soon as he's rendered unconscious, a puff of silver mist escapes his body; in fact, the man looks calm for someone who's now bleeding out.

![]() |

Seeing the crazed man lurch for Shilyn's scarf and knowing that she doesn't have the fortitude to tell the mist No! No molestar!, Amnur swings his axe into the man, cracking several ribs and brings him down hard. As with the other lunatic, a puff of mist escapes from the body and rejoins with the mist of the floor. He looks smaller now that he's not trying to kill you, although the amount of blood spilling into the floor is alarming.
With the ravings of both men quieted, the only remaining constant sound is frantic screaming from the steel cabinet.

![]() |

Seeing the second crazy fall to Amnur's axe, Shilyn gives him a nod in thanks. Holding her rapier between her knees, she takes a moment to tie her scarf in place instead of just wrapping it around her head before griping her weapon once more.
"Figure, why make it easy for them eh?"
Sword in hand, she makes her way over to the cabinet, her eyes scanning the scattered papers as she goes.

Amnur, scarf still dangling, looks down at the men, "Ahhh, by Torags beard! Shaddup in there! We'll get ya out! Is yer face covered from the mists?" and leans down to try and stop the bleeding on first one, then the other. As he does so he looks to the others, "Best keep those scarves on, good call Mylvie. That white stuff tried to jump down inside me before I sneezed the junk out. To what end I don't know, but watching the stuff exit these two loonies, I'm thinking it'd do the same to us."

EDIT: Yikes! Lets hope a strength check isn't required! Have a great trip Shi!

The half-elf also finds an unusual 'cloth' made from what appears to be beaten bark. On it is a tag that says - "Tik Taan Idols acquisition - courtesy of Lugizar Trantos. There is writing on it, but it is undecipherable to the half-elf.
@Amnur: Both men are now stable. Neither one detects evil, but the mist radiates a minor evil demonic aura. Also, I'll need a Diplomacy check with a -2 penalty from you.

Varian reaches out and touches each man in turn, casting Stabilize on them, then starts dragging the recumbent bodies out of the mist into the other room, where they can lie without being reinfected by whatever is in the mist.
"If we can get the guy in the cabinet out safely, perhaps he can remove his friends out the front door for us and get them to some healing. Opening the steel cabinet from within, a blubbery man, red-eyed and teary faced, arguably from being trapped in the cabinet for so long and screaming bloody murder for over a minute straight. He looks down and sees the crippled bodies of the two formerly crazed men. "Poor Kadarnik and Yannis... what has this bloody-awful mist done to you... and Milgen!" He turns around and sees the ravaged body Amnur stepped upon, shaking his head at the site, before he starts cursing.
"Damn that Luzigar - I smelled something wrong with those hideous monkey-faced things as soon as that damned Pathfinder brought them out of his pack. I've a nose for trouble, I do! No one listens to me, though!"
@Amnur: All of the men, including the one who stepped out of the cabinet, are human.
Seeing the group of nonplussed adventurers who saved him, he runs to a desk and grabs two large sacks from a drawer. [b]"Oh yes, thank you, thank you for saving me! I'm Saldak, night cataloguist for the Blakros Museum."
Turning to Amnur, Saldak's jowls quiver as he contemplates about Sheg."Sheg... if you haven't found him, I hope the mist hasn't gotten 'em! From what I can tell, it turns you mad, empowering the body at a cost of your will to the Tik Taan demons. You don't want to see him like this!"
