Good morning everyone. Here we go... Welcome back Vari :) Amnur *really* doesn't like wenches, huh?

As you emerge from the Azlanti complex, you find complete chaos. Ensuing All along the palisade wall, Pathfinders and camp workers are trying desperately to hold off the horde of charau-ka outside the walls. Wave after wave of rocks, sticks, and even the camp’s own garbage are flying over the walls at regular intervals. Somewhere back in the jungle, that same deafening roar echoes across at the valley.

What now?

So to recap a bit, we're surrounded by charau-ka, we have an odd, ancient, stone thing with unknown magical properties. Obviously throwing ourselves into the defense on the walls might help to some small degree, but I'm thinking that's not our primary objective. The ancient magic stuff seems to be the key. What else have we found? A large stone sphere without an obvious entry point... Can someone remind me of the rest?

Amnur looks at the chaos, "By Torag's Beard" and instinctively whips his waraxe into his hand, looking ready to charge the nearest wall and leap into the fray. He stalls, remembering the object just recovered and looks around, "Hmm, I'm feeling we should charge but we do have this fancy stone... Any thoughts how to use it?"

I feel it's important to commit to something, like hating wenches, or acting like he hates wenches. ;)

Seeing all the carnage about him, Oriandor raises his fist yelling, "You damn dirty apes!"[/b] and draws out his wand of shield with his tail.

Turning to the dwarf behind him, the tiefling shakes his head while unsteathing his weapon. "Do whatever you're gonna do quickly, for there's glory and monkeys out there, although we only get the former if we take care of the latter!"

Amnur obliges, loath to sheath his weapon, but aware enough that a magic solution should be considered before throwing himself into battle. He takes the box back out and starts moving around the site, visiting the sphere and other places of potential signifigance. He pays attention to any reaction from the stone or his surroundings to see if there's a reaction, and asks the others to do the same. "Lets see if this durn'ed things of any use to us." he says as he walks.

EDIT:In dividing his attention between the device and his surroundings, he fails to pay adequate attention to either one, smacking his nose into several posts (causing him to put on his helm and lower his visor, further reducing his ability to see clearly), tripping over mounds of dirt and piles of gear half a dozen times, and falling headlong into at least three trenches with a loud clanging of armor and arms... as well as a litany of dwarvish cursing.

With a giggle at the thought of Amnur getting himself in deep crap, as an old adventurer used to tell them, she holds out her free hand for the runed box.

A bruised and dirty Amnur hands over the box with little reluctance, muttering dark things at it in a low voice.

Pausing for a moment, Shilyn wipes the dirt off the box with her sleeve. "A whole lot of blood shed for this box.. wonder what it does," she wonders aloud tracing a rune with her fingertip.

After you have had a moment to take in the scene, a large boulder flies out of the nearby jungle and smashes a hole in the palisade wall, creating a breach (see area B2).

Soon after, a boiling mass of shrieking charau-ka charge the breach, while behind them stomps a huge mass of a gorilla man with 4 arms, roaring. The moment it appears, the device starts vibrating and glows, elevating slightly.

Shilyn falls unconscious, but is breathing steadily.

Shilyn:
You are completely aware of yourself and you now know how the operations of one of those ancient monoliths works. It is activated and ready for your command.

Not sure how 'aware' she is of herself and her current situation.. but to play into it and her background.. Shilyn is vaguely aware of hitting the ground, her hand still clutching the box. Suddenly, she finds herself as a child, in front of her mother as the older woman says, "Now you try." Shilyn begins to mumble words that would summon a bolt of shadow as her mother had done. Careful intoning of the words.. yet.. once again, nothing.

She feels her hand tingle with the power of the cube as its wisdom of the monolith begins to fill her mind.. Words just spoken come to her lips again and she sees her mother smiling as they flow.. I can do this..

As the vision of her mother fades, Shilyn begins to concentrate on one of the monoliths. In her mind's eye, she sees the huge thing and begins to call to it. "Come..defend," she tells it silently, or so she hopes. [b]"Gah, if I'm talking outloud in this condition, everyone's going to think I'm nuts.. and I'll have a lot of explaining to do which I have no explaination for.."[/i] she muses.

Pulling an image of the apes in her mind, she focuses on the monolith again. "Kill these things." not even sure this will work given her current state.

Knowing how to drive and actually driving can be a bit different.. especially when you're unconcious. Ladies and gentlemen, do not try this at home.. this is being done by a trained, sleeping professional rogue.

Amnur turns at the sound of the crashing boulders and the roaring ape-demons. Then Shi collapses and Amnurs head whips around in all directions, "What happened!? Is she hurt?" he asks, even as he stoops quickly to inspect her limp form.

Amnur tries to remove the box from her grasp as he checks Shi for injuries.

Not trying to steal the keys (box), just seemed something a person semi-aware of mystical things would do.

The four-armed gorilla, looks to be about fifteen feet tall and causes the ground to shake with each step. It intelligently scans his troops on the other side of the camp near the breach and roars at them, causing the ape-men to devolve into a frenzy.

New map updated. The other pathfinders in the camp are hobbling over to defend the breach. The large ape wipes them away with one sweep of his hand. A few lie broken on the ground, and others get up for more.

Amnur, you are unable to get the box away from her. You all notice a huge Monolith that walks towards the breach, pausing to bow at you all with a huge flourish, and giving Amnur the finger as it walks past you all.

Amnur, eyes wide in surprise, absentmindedly returns the salute of the monolith. Coming back to himself his battle senses take over, pushing distractions out, "Someone with range keep an eye on Shi!" and charges north as fast as his stubby legs will carry him (which isn't far) and shouting his family battle-cry in challenge, ROANOOOOCCKKKK!!".

Varian, torn between protecting Shi and moving to defend the wall, finally succumbs to the need to make a decision. Seeing Mylvy has Shi well protected for now, he moves toward the nearest apeman, and extends a greatsword from his hands, ready to strike the nearest foe.

Shilyn mentally shrugs her shoulders, "Oops, sorry Amnur," she says to herself and mentally giggles. Feeling the power of the cube flowing through her, she turns her concentration to smashing apes as her still unconscious form lays on the ground next to Mylv.

Juliet runs up clearly wondering at the huge statue walking through her camp...

Finally, she just points at the huge statue walking towards the breach, hips swaying, as it swipes groups of ape men away with its huge paws and then blows them kisses as they bounce and land in heaps.

The large 4 armed ape creature notices it too, and roars loudly and beats its 4 arms across its large chest and charges the large statue with hate blazing in its eyes.

Shilyn watches as the monolith bats away ape men as if they were cornhusk dolls and gives a mental grin. "You want some of this big one? Ok, you're on!" she muses willing the golem to grab one of the apes and hurl it at the four-armed one while breathing a cloud of gas in front of the charging ape. "Distract, weaken, and kill."

Round 1:

Oriandor turns his head to see the giant statue moving towards them. He steps out of the way, quickly analyzing it before breathing a sigh of relief as it mocks Amnur in the way only their fellow half-elf would to a paladin.

Swiping the wand from his tail, Oriandor casts a protective ward upon himself before moving to follow up with the dwarf while yelling, "Get back you damn, dirty apes!".

Oriandor casts shield for +4 shield AC for 10 rounds, stowing the wand as a swift action and using a move action to get near Amnur.

I think that we have everyone.

Both groups seem mesmerized as they watch the two huge entities rush towards each other and collide. You see the (male) statue blow a kiss towards the monster, and a thick noxious gas spreads forward to meet the monster rushing forward.

Fort Save: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18

Edit: Wow... the DC for that save is 19. That was amazing luck.

The monster seems to be in such a hurry to combat the statue that he doesn't notice the gas, and breathes deeply into it. It chokes and falls to its knees trying to regain its breath, still out of reach of the statue. It regains its composure, but rises considerably less composed than it once was. CON loss: 1d4 ⇒ 2 Monster takes 26 damage, and must make a CON save each round for the next 4 rounds.

The monster rages and slams the monolith with 4 powerful fists

claw attack: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (13) + 24 = 37 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Coming back to himself his battle senses take over, pushing distractions out, "Someone with range keep an eye on Shi!" and charges north as fast as his stubby legs will carry him (which isn't far) and shouting his family battle-cry in challenge, ROANOOOOCCKKKK!!".

Oriandor turns his head to see the giant statue moving towards them. He steps out of the way, quickly analyzing it before breathing a sigh of relief as it mocks Amnur in the way only their fellow half-elf would to a paladin.
Swiping the wand from his tail, Oriandor casts a protective ward upon himself before moving to follow up with the dwarf while yelling, "Get back you damn, dirty apes!".

Oriandor casts shield for +4 shield AC for 10 rounds, stowing the wand as a swift action and using a move action to get near Amnur.

The bow and gesture tells mylvie all she needs to know, a grin splits her face and I maintain my position.

Oh, Shi, well done.

Varian, torn between protecting Shi and moving to defend the wall, finally succumbs to the need to make a decision. Seeing Mylvy has Shi well protected for now, he moves toward the nearest apeman, and extends a greatsword from his hands, ready to strike the nearest foe.

Upon getting hurt or seeing their compatriots hurt, the Ape men go into a shrieking frenzy, that seems to make them act a little quicker and possibly more reckless.
