Amnur, never having run into giant ants before, has trouble keeping the scorn off his face, but he always has to ask himself, What would Torag do?. Wanting to help be still feeling the urge to be crafty he says, "For a price break we'll send those ants back to... their antill!"
Where's the cream filling!? Wait, I mean... where's the entrance?

Brayden Green |

So go get them... lol. I'm waiting. :)

Being the first one down, Oriandor decides to take care of some other business quickly and sneaks into the document room, rommaging through the papers for shipping records.
Not knowing what the heck skill check I need, here's the three I think that would cover it. Also on the assumption that there aren't actually any ants that snuck in there after all or inbetween the entrance (assuming from area 1) and the document room!

Lauranna nodded her assent, followed by "Of course we will trade our services for yours. Guardsmen are fine, but it takes skill with steel and magic to deter a persistent foe. Does your housekeeper have a supply of this lotion on hand?"
See what I did there? ;-)
Intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Lauranna made her way down to the basement with the others, bardiche in hand.

Stuffing the last of the mystery meat into her mouth and wiping her hands on her leg, she looks over at the others a moment. "Sure. I'll pitch in," she answers around a mouthful of food. Looking around for someplace to drop the greasy stick. With a shrug, she sets it down on a nearby box and hurries to catch up with Lauranna.
When she reaches the human woman, she quietly asks, "Want me to take the point?" She pulls her bow from her shoulders and with a well practiced move, steps through it and sets the string in place before pulling her leg back. "Standard routine? I find 'em, you kill 'em, just no mushrooms this time."

Brayden Green |

Thanks Lauranna.
She gives you a huge bag of the stuff. It reeks.

Brayden Green |

Oriandor. You find some interesting stuff in there. ;) Lady Morilla will definitely appreciate one of the documents you were able to stash.

Stuffing the documents into his backpack, Oriandor slinks out of the document room and waits for the others before stepping into the room with the others, acting like he was there all the time.
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
"Everyone's almost here, Amnur, want to lead the charge?"
Bah, waste of a 20!

Flori gets her weapons back and loads her crossbow, then casts mage armor on herself. (AC 16)
I don't know much about ants. One of us should be ready with the ant-repellent. Maybe we can hold them at bay with it and get the entrance sealed. How hard can it be?
She gets close to Amnur and Oriandor. I can give one of you a little boost on your first attack. it's not much, but it's better than nothing.

Brayden Green |

Sneaky, sneaky!
Oriandor didn't see any ants in his sneaking around. He did hear some clicking and shuffling (room #2) however.
As you descend the stairs and assemble yourselves into the first room (position yourselves how you want to be.)
After the humidity above, the stark dryness of the basement stands out as unsettling, almost as unsettling as the acrid smell and constant, methodical clicking emanating from the darkness. The remains of bags and crates lie scattered across the floor amid a sea of grayish dust.

Drawing his heavy flail, Amnur grins like it's his birthday at Oriandors suggestion, but suggests a slight change. He makes one palm flat, and starts drawing imaginary positions on it as he describes his idea, "Well, I dunno what be going to be where, so how about we clog the doorway? Me on the east side, and Lauranna or someone tougher than her on the west, out of the way of those who aren't chucking sticks and stones. They can't be that smart for critters and will probably come after us. If they don't then wade on in. That work?" Amnur positions himself according to his plan, but keeps his eyes to the others to see if they suggest anything different.
That making sense? Kind of a pincer movement. If they try to get through to the 'ranged' folks, Lauranna and I will have AoO's, and we won't be in the way to create soft cover. Open to other ideas. **EDIT**: I moved our pieces on the map to reflect my idea. Sorry for touching yoru pieces but seemed easiest way to illustrate. Move them back or whatever if you want.

![]() |

Using his tail (well hidden under his cloak), Oriandor grabs a small rod from his backpack.
"I appreciate if the armored folk step in first; I need someone to help distract them bugs if I'm going to hit their weak points."
As soon as either Amnor or Lauranna head inside, Oriandor will use his wand of Shield upon himself then enter.

![]() |

Setting an arrow to her bow, Shilyn looks over at Amnur. "You get me killed and I'll never speak to you again my friend," she says softly, a hit of humor in her eye.

![]() |

He gives her a very innocent looks, Who me!? and makes sure everyone's ready, gives a silent three count to Laruanna and opens the door.
Basically I'm stating Amnurs readiness, if there's stuff to say or do, this isn't to railroad that, thus his 'makes sure everyones's ready' statment. This also hinges on Lauranna being ok with the plan. As for the lotion, I think we don't apply it yet, just maybe someone can test it in combat? See how the ants react to it?

I summon forth a few balls of light to ensure the room is illuminated. Dancing Lights hovering by the door and ready to go in and shed light for our archers.

Post combat action in spoilerific fashion, with anything that you say to the companions outside of spoilers (so that it is showing. I don't want to take communication away from you doing it this way.) IF you are saying "By balrog's Hammer I will have you, or something like that, just keep it in the spoiler." but "Make sure to attack them with X, they are vulnerable to X" is completely acceptable. Also, in the case of the latter, always check with me to see if your character would know that information (knowledge rolls). (Unfortunately, having Bestiary 1 2 and 3 memorized back to front isn't going to help you if your character wouldn't know it :P )
We will resolve round 1 later tonight (7-8pm ish MST), and start round 2 then. We will conclude round 2 at noon tomorrow. As always, if you are done sooner, and I am readily available, we will complete sooner. I will bot if I see 4 responses.

Sigh... just when you have a plan, the paizo site decides to go to pieces...
Round 1 results
After throwing the doors wide, and not being rushed by anything with mandibles, Amnur peers inside. The two ants guarding the tunnel catching his full attention, "Lets get in there and seal that hole! ROANOCK!!" His battlecry ringing in the air, the dwarf charges in as fast as his stubby legs will carry him, his armor clanking and banging with the uncustomary dash. He seems to trust so much in his armor he sacrifices distance for readiness, as he doesn't even raise his weapon as he closes the gap to his foes.
Mylvwara steps into the room and directs her lights into the far corners, revealing two giant ants in the far corner, pincers twitching.
She waves her hand and a glowing aura surrounds her.
Flori touches Oriandor with touch of rage (+1 to hit, damage and will saves for 1 round). I'm applying your bonus to the next round, as you would have likely attacked knowing you got a bonus.
She then enters the room, ready to fire her crossbow.
She tells the tiefling, This will help a little, and he feels a familiar magic coarsing through him, strengthening him temporarily.
ANt#1 charges Amnur.
CHAAAARGE!!!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 The pincers can't pierce the armor, and the ant seems exposed in its maniacal lunge.
Lauranna charges into the room with Amnur, taking long strides and gripping the haft of her bardiche tightly. She readied herself for the fight, noting the ants' positioning and determined that none would get past her to the others.
Ori walks into the room after bringing out a wand and waving it. He has an aura much like Mylvie surrounding him.
[ooc]place token wherever you want, when ready within 30 feet.
Shrugging to herself, Shy slowly walks to the battle. "Someone has to try it, I guess... " and throws a smaller bag of the foul smelling lotion at the creature. It avoids the square that she hit it in, but doesn't seem to do much harm to it. More of an annoyance. Guess we just need to poke them, then. Get on your poker faces!
Ant #2 moves to Lauranna and tries to bite.
bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Misses.
End of round 1. No harm done. Round 2 begins and will resolve "2pm-ish" (giving you a little more time because of the Paizo lockout...) .
Let's squish some buggies!!!

Did the ant moving to bite Lauranna take a 5' step? If not, then she would have gotten an AoO. Remember, she has reach with that nasty Bardiche. The rolls for the AoO are in the previous post.
Lauranna sidesteps the ant and strikes with her cleaver of a blade.

I'm reminding you of so many things :P
"Thanks", replies Oriandor to Flori. The surge was alien to him, but he wasn't going to turn down its strength. He starts moving towards the now alone ant before hearing Amnur's cry. Hmm, at least it sounds like he has some tactican acumen. "On it.", is all he says as he moves past the dwarf and strikes at the ant from the south-east.
Attack on Ant1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage if it hits: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
And as a reminder and to follow your request, Oriandor currently has +4 Shield AC until Round 11

Brayden Green |

You are right, Lauranna. Thank you for reminding me of your 10' reach. I will keep that in mind the next time you get swarmed by enemies (and it will be soon ;) )
Your attack of opportunity/crit DEFINITELY made quick work of the ant.
RETCONNING
The ant moving towards Lauranna moves with intent to kill, but first must get past the defenses. Which it does not. Lauranna splits it in half with a mighty heave.
The second ant goes down in a flurry of action, with Mylvie shooting some green stuff at it, FLori hitting it in between the large bug eyes with a crossbow bolt, and then watching the two boys flailing around with their weapons after some neat tactical moves, Lauranna steps in to show them how it's really done, finishing off the other ant by slicing it in half.
two crits? Can someone check Lauranna's account to see if she has a dicebot hack active?
End of round 2. All nearby enemies dead, although their does appear to be some clicking coming from the tunnel. Not here yet, but readily approaching. Ants emit a danger pheremone that other ants pick up on when stressed. I'm surprised you didn't know that, Napoleon.
Nice job everyone.

![]() |

*Checking Lauranna's account....* "Looks clean!"
Amnur just grins in appreciation, watching the devastating work of the warrior woman, going so far as to sound a low whistle. "Nice work lass! But quick now, bring the lotion and lets get this hole plugged up!" The dwarf clanks to the hole, waving Shi over with the lotion.
Perception - How to close the tunnel: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Brayden Green |

Plugging up the hole... Not really much you can do. There is a crap load of dirt around the edge of the tunnel they were guarding, but that doesn't really seem like it will plug it. You do have a couple sacks of gooey stinky lotion, though.

![]() |

"Huh, remind me not to piss you off Lauranna.", sheathing his sword, glad that the initial threat ended quickly.
"Now, who's got this lotion stuff so we can keep them bugs at bay."

![]() |

So many lube jokes, so little desire to have my account blocked
"Get ready for a fight. Our erstwhile employer said the lotion deters bugs, but I doubt it'll do much for angry ones. If we can destroy the first wave of attackers, perhaps the bug lotion will buy the mill the time they need."
Lauranna moved over to the entrance of the tunnel, her bardiche held in position to sweep down on anything with more than two legs.

![]() |

Flori will keep her distance from the hole, but stand in front of it and try to use her 90' darkvision to see how close they are.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
She'll start to reload her crossbow, just in case she can get a shot.

Brayden Green |

I do, says Shilyn. It seemed to not like the area that the other bag exploded in. Did you see how quickly it backed away?
Ok. No more hints ;)
Since you asked... they don't seem to be anywhere close yet. You can't tell for sure, but even the tiefling and half elf can only hear the faintest of shufflings.

![]() |

The dwarf blushes under his helm, "I don't need ta be hearing any of yer dirty ontondras! Now quit foolin around and wipe that lotion over every inch 'o that hole!"
