PFS CORE-G Sangre |
off to Kendra's
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
No, no,...
Gravleon draws his weapon and shield gives a small prayer to the light and runs into the house
"Kendra Speak to us girl say your fine and this worrying is for not"
casting Shield of faith
GM Engleaktig |
Before Sharien expends her scroll (Because the GM has been leading the party on long enough...), she can hear Kendra's voice out back. She's singing!
You head out back in a panic, there she is gardening! Whew! She's a bit surprised to see you. "Oh! Welcome back! You're earlier than I expected. Does that mean things went well? These fresh vegetables will be delicious tonight for dinner. Isn't it a beautiful day? I oppened all the doors and windows to air out the house." She beams at you all. "Come. Let me feed you before you head off to the town meeting."
Assuming you agree, she makes your food and apologizes for startling you when you tell her about the Restlands. The weather takes another nasty turn. That's Ravengro for you. If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes; it'll change.
Before you can finish your meal it gets dark and stormy. (Because bad tropes are cool.) Then, there's a knock on the door. Kendra stands up and heads towards the door: "I wonder who that could be..."
Sharien Oakfoot |
"Kendra! You scared us half to death! We saw these footprints... Grog said they led here..." Sharien is a bit out of breath from shock, having trouble forming her sentences well.
Faria Quorothe |
Faria sighs in relief as they happen upon the woman in happy spirits. She smiles at Kendra, quite ecstatic they didn't find a more horrible scene. "Yes, ma'am, fresh veggies always improve a meal. I think we can stay and sup with you for a time."
Going back to the others, "The tracks must have split off and we just got spooked. I think we should go back to the Restlands and start looking for another trail."
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
Gravleon puts away his weapons and looks around for anything out of place
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
"you might be right sorry for the excitement, but before we leave Kendra did you leave the front door open..."
GM Engleaktig |
Gravleon doesn't see anything out of place. As she heads towards the front door to answer it, she responds, "Yes, I left the door open. It was so nice and warm earlier that I wanted to air out the place. Let the fresh air in."
At that moment, Gravleon and Faria get a similar feeling to when they used the spirit planchette. The weather gets visibly darker. And exactly 13 thunderclaps crash in rapid succession.
The knocking on the door gets louder and more urgent. Just as Kendra's hand is an inch away from the doorknob, the door flies inward with a SMASH!
There are three figures on the other side of the door. (Knowledge religion to know more about them.) One of them, you could swear, looks like Professor Petros Lorrimor!
Other Enemy Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Other Enemy Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Blackheath Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Grog Init: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
Sharien Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
The professor's clawed hand lashes out and leaves a deep gash in Kendra's shoulder. She starts to scream but the sound is immediately stifled as she becomes paralyzed! Tears fill her eyes.
Claw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18, Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Kendra Fort Save: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Blackheath, Gravleon, and Faria are up! (No map needed, you're all within 20 feet of Kendra--easily within one move to any of the three enemies.)
Faria Quorothe |
Kn Religion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 Sigh...these rolls...why do I even bother?
Faria moves forward, unsure of what the things are that just attacked Kendra. She puts herself right next to the Lorrimor woman, her brows furrowing as she presents her holy symbol.
Channel to harm undead: 1d6 ⇒ 2
"Pharasma, help your servant to destroy these foul mockeries of life!"
Blackheath |
Blackheath rushes forward and, drawing his sword, attacks the shortest of the three...
Arcane strike with longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
Gravleon moves with Faria intent on protecting Kendra
"by the light of dawn i tell thee to be burned from my sight"
K{religion}: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Channel pos dc{15}Undead do not add their channel resistance to their saves: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
dose subject of study work for spells? if so add +1 to damage
GM Engleaktig |
Yes, that campaign trait works for all damage rolls.
Blackheath misses with his attack, but Gravleon hurts the undead.
Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8, Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12, Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
"Petros" 9 HP damage, Ghoul2 9 HP damage, Ghoul3 6 HP damage
Since Blackheath came up to them, one of the ghouls will attempt a full attack.
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15, Miss!
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24, Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Blackheath Fort Save vs Bite Paralysis: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Blackheath Fort Save vs Bite Disease: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Blackheath Fort Save vs Claw Paralysis: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
The undead enemy bites and tears at Blackheath's warm flesh. Blood runs freely down his neck and chest as the bard is heavily wounded and also paralyzed! He takes comfort, though, in knowing that he just saved Kendra's life.
Blackheath Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Faria Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Gravleon Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Sharien is up!
Grog half-orc |
pre rolling my attack
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
1d12 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Grog appears dismayed as his axe misses as the ghouls attack his comrades.
Arrgh...Damm undead! Hold still!
Sharien Oakfoot |
"Blackheath!"
Sharien pulls out a scroll of protection from evil as she moves forward, then casts it and touches Blackheath's back (she would maneuver herself so as to not be adjacent to any of the ghouls, obviously).
+2 AC and saves against these monstrosities for Blackheath.
GM Engleaktig |
The third ghoul moves forward and strikes Grog with a claw:
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24, Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
He attempts to retaliate, but misses.
ROUND 2
"Petros" moves forward to Gravleon and paralyzes him:
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20, Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Thankfully, Gravleon, your holy symbol is already out. You do not need to move in order to channel.
The party is in a bad way; Kendra, Blackheath, and Gravleon are all paralyzed!
Blackheath, Gravleon, and Faria are up next! Get 'em!!!
Faria Quorothe |
Knowing her limitations, melee-wise, Faria believes the party's best chance lays in doing as much damage to the creatures as she can.
Her brows remain furrowed in concentration as she again calls upon The Lady of Graves' aid, knowing it will be the only thing that saves the group from the terrible hunger of these beasts.

Dang! Sorry guys. :-(
Faria and Gravleon channel. Though their enemies look pretty ragged, they still stand.
"Petros" 15 HP damage, Ghoul2 15 HP damage, Ghoul3 10 HP damage
The remaining two ghouls will work to collect Kendra and take her away. So, the rest of the party (Sharien and Grog) may act.
Blackheath |
Blackheath thinks of many rude words while paralyzed.
Sharien Oakfoot |
"STOP, FIENDS!!"
Sharien pulls out a scroll of burning hands and reads it.
fire: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Sharien tosses a bolt of acid at "Petros".
ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
acid: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Faria Quorothe |
Faria breathes a sigh of relief, going to check on her paralyzed companions. Once their bodies are again their own, she checks on the corpse of Professor Lorrimor, trying to ensure if it is indeed the late Professor.
"Let's get Kendra back inside. This has been troubling enough for her, methinks."
GM Engleaktig |
Yes, this is Petros Lorrimor. If you go to his plot in the Restlands, you'll find that his grave has been recently disturbed.
The footsteps that "met" the tracks of the three missing townsfolk came from his grave. This means that there's still one out there. And the town meeting is supposed to happen soon...
Oh, and it's also dark and stormy out.
Faria Quorothe |
The priestess grits her teeth in frustration, turning to her companions. "We need to check and see which villager is missing, and go check on the Professor's plot in the Restlands. Blackheath has a way with words. Let him go calm the townfolk while we figure out what happened to our missing villager."
She shakes her head, the sheer amount of bad luck turning against them overwhelming.
Sharien Oakfoot |
Sharien lays a hand on Faria's shoulders. "At least we are alive, my friend. That could have gone much worse. Can you check over our companions and make sure no one has caught that awful ghoul fever?"
Faria Quorothe |
Faria nods to Sharien, turning and looking her companions over for the telltale signs of ghoul fever.
Heal Grog: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Heal Blackheath: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Heal Kendra: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Heal Gravleon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Blackheath |
"I will go where you think best."
Faria Quorothe |
Alrighty, sounds good. I'd like to re-inter the good Professor before we go, and perhaps identify the bodies of the ghoul/villagers. Otherwise, I'm good to forward to the meeting.
GM Engleaktig |
Cool. You put Petros back to rest. This time with a healthy dose of Holy water. Kendra will cover the expense. Father Grimburrow will schedule "random" acolyte patrols to ensure that he remains at rest. With Kenra's help, you identify Mac Guffin and Plot Hook. Narrative Device's whereabouts remain unknown.
For those who haven't played Carrion Crown before, the undead professor encounter is meant to be a zombie along with a skeleton, but that didn't make sense as an encounter for five characters at APL 2--especially with two clerics who can channel positive energy. LOL! Thankfully, this is an AP, and we can make changes.
GM Engleaktig |
I don't mind the occasional cakewalk. From time to time it's good to know just how powerful you are! :-) But, it didn't make sense in this context. You just don't have the same sense of urgency when one party member can end the encounter in a single round.
It's clear that something is afoot in Ranvengro! Any final preparations before the meeting?
PFS CORE-G Sangre |
hay i did not mind that fight at all loved it actually ^_^ we almost died!! any changes you feel you'll have to do you'll get no complaints from me
i will just use my channeling to heal us all ^-^
gravleon looks to the dark sky and holy energy pulses from him healing the party "Holy dawn i beseech thee burn away the taint from the dead that has wounded your servant and heal his companions"
Channel pos: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Channel pos: 1d6 ⇒ 6
"right then lets get to this gathering"
all out of channels for the day but every one heals 11 ^_^
GM Engleaktig |
As the magnitude of eerie events in Ravengro grows, the town's citizens have grown increasingly nervous and frightened. The town council called for a meeting at the town hall to discuss the citizens' fears and possible solutions—perhaps even sending a messenger to reach one of the larger neighboring cities for help...
When the meeting begins, the town hall is packed to standing room only, with over 60 villagers inside the building's central meeting room and many more gathered in the hall outside. Everyone demands solutions and shares reports of their own eerie encounters until the councilors enter the room and move up to the podium to address the crowd.
The mob grows quiet as Councilman Hearthmount begins to speak, assuring the citizens that they are looking into solutions.
The weather grows worse and worse outside as winds howl and the sound of rain beating down on the roof become harder. Oh, great! Now it's hailing!
The townsfolk stuck outside push their way inside to avoid the worst of the weather. Tensions are high. Everyone is uncomfortable. It's crowded. People are starting to yell.
What would the party like to do?
Blackheath |
"Were I a cultist, this would be a good chance to cause trouble," the clown whispers to his companions.
Blackheath scans the crowd and looks for anyone that might be acting suspicious. Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Wow. With that roll, expect Blackheath to tackle an innocent old woman and try to pull her "mask" off Scooby-Doo-style. Not quite an FBI profiler.
Faria Quorothe |
Faria also tries to spot anyone who seems to be instigating and trying to fan the flames of the villager's panic.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 Well, at least it's not a 1
Not having much luck, the priestess calls upon her Goddess for help. Clean, cool, holy energy drawn from the Lady of Graves goes out to infuse those around Faria. Minor cuts suddenly close, stubbed toes stop hurting, headaches abruptly cease.
The dark-haired woman smiles at those around her, putting up her hands and patting them downwards in a calming motion.
"Please, friends, calm down. These harsh words will serve no one any good. Let us wait out this storm, for it will surely pass. As all storms do. As dark, windy, and dismal as it gets, it always passes. This too, shall pass."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Seance Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Gravleon scans the crowd to see if there is anything the others have missed
"yes we must all calm ourselves lets not through blame but find the cause if it"
wow nice rolls ^_^
GM Engleaktig |
You feel the unmistakable tingle of magic around you. Someone (or something) is driving the townsfolk to fear--and perhaps even panic. Despite your best efforts, the level of fear in the room is rising.
I've placed you all in the room but I did not bother to place all 60 townsfolk in there. Suffice it to say that the crowd makes everything in here difficult terrain.
Faria Quorothe |
As quietly and unobtrusively as she can, Faria enacts a spell that will enable her to see magical dweomers, looking for a source of magical compulsion/fear.
Cast detect magic, sweeping it around room until I find an aura. Then will spend the three rounds to narrow down what and where it is.
