Faria Quorothe |
Faria's brow furrows as they continue to hear the queer tapping, but otherwise she remains calm, taking her place in the back as they make their way down the steps. She pulls out her holy symbol of Pharasma, holding it in her off hand as she draws her dagger.
GM Engleaktig |
Zorra opens the next door.
There's no "next door" unless you're heading back out of the crypt.
____________________________________________________________Assuming the party continues forward, Zorra leads them down a flight of steps. It seems like the clicking / scraping / whatever sound is all around them now, getting louder!
As soon as Zorra's foot touches down at the bottom of the stairs, two creatures crawl out of the cracks in the ceiling of the crypt. They land on two of you and attack!
Which two: 1d5 ⇒ 5, 1d4 ⇒ 4 (Faria and Sharien)
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5, Miss!
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11, Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2, Sharien Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
One of these creepy crawlies (Knowledge Nature) tries to bite Faria, but its mandibles sink into her backpack instead of her flesh.
The other bites Sharien. This one finds her sweet, soft flesh, and injects a vile fluid into her shoulder. She takes 2 HP of damage, and, through a strong sense of perseverance, she fights off the effect of the injected substance!
____________________________________________________________
This is round 1.
Grog: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Poshment: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Sharien: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Zorra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Enemy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Enemy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Zorra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Faria: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Poshment: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Sharien: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Grog: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Enemy (2): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
____________________________________________________________
One of the creepy crawlies tries to bite again.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8, Miss!
The party is up!
Faria Quorothe |
Faria resists the urge to scream as the thing lunges at her, thankfully missing. Seeing another of the creatures on Sharien, she lashes out with her dagger, hoping those in front of her will take care of the creature trying to attack the priestess.
Dagger: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Can't see the map at the moment. Please move me 5', if available.
Sharien Oakfoot |
Sharien DOES scream as the creature bites her. She takes a step back from it, pulls a scroll from her belt, and reads it. A gout of fire spouts from her outstretched hand, washing over the two bugs? I assume?.
burning hands: 1d4 ⇒ 3
DC 11 Reflex save for half. Stupid scrolls.
GM Engleaktig |
Yep. They're some kinda bugs. With about a hundred legs each. And they're medium sized.
Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20, Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
The critters are slightly singed by Sharien's attack (1 HP damage, each). Her scream echoes in the crypt for much longer than one would expect from a stone structure. The fog seems to creep down the stairs just a little...
Zorra
Faria: Melee attack
Poshment
Sharien: Burning Hands
Grog
Enemy (2): 1 HP damage
This is still round 1.
Zorra, Poshment, and Grog are up!
Grog half orc |
on my turn, Attack #1 or 5' to 2 if one is dead. if 1 drops 5' step next to #2
attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
know nature to identify bugs: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Zorra |
Zorra moves up to the giant centipede and smashes it with her light mace.
light mace: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 151d6 ⇒ 1
GM Engleaktig |
Because of the placement of her allies, any movement that Zorra makes to hit the enemy will provoke an attack of opportunity. So, we'll say that she tries to Acrobatics into position: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16.
She successfully moves into place and successfully connects with her mace.
The centipede lashes out one last time: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15, Miss!
Then it tries to flee. Grog, Poshment, and Zorra get to make attacks of opportunity, if they wish.
Zorra |
I would like to make an attack of opportunity.
light mace: 1d20 ⇒ 131d6 ⇒ 1
GM Engleaktig |
Okie dokie. The party follows the faint line of tracks to a single large sarcophagus that sits in the deepest part of the crypt.
Searching around, there's nothing else here but the sarcophagus. You do continue to hear skittering / scraping in the cracks within the structure. The fog seems to take one step down the stairs.
Poshment Galier |
Poshment will look a round and then wipe the side of the blade of his long sword on his pants. "Well what do we have here" he says looking at the sarcophagus. He will try to determine if anyone's remains are in it.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Not really sure which roll fits.
GM Engleaktig |
Nothing seems out of the ordinary--other than the emptiness here. You eventually notice that you can lift the lid of the sarcophagus rather easily.
- four sun rods
- six flasks of holy water
- 10 really nice arrows (+1 arrows)
- 5 even nicer arrows (+1 ghost touch arrows)
- two +1 undead bane arrows
- five potions of cure light wounds
- two potions of lesser restoration
- a scroll of detect undead
- two scrolls of hide from undead
- a scroll of protection from evil
- and a thin darkwood case decorated with an image of a scarab with a single eye glaring from its back
(This is the same design that appears on the cover of the book back in the chest from Petros.)
Poshment Galier |
Peshmont will try identifying the scarab with the eye. He won't touch the box but being that its a reoccurring symbol he wants to know if he can place it.
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16
Knowlege Local: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20giving this a shot to see if it might be a local organization...kind of doubt it but worth a shot.
Faria Quorothe |
Faria will accept the darkwood case from Poshment once he tries to identify it, and will open it, hoping it can shed some light on things.
Any takers for keeping track of loot?
GM Engleaktig |
Poshment will try identifying the scarab with the eye.
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16
Knowlege Local: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Poshment looks at the design and tries to think back to his lessons about religion and lessons about the surrounding region. But he cannot come up with what this thing might be.
____________________________________________________________Any takers for keeping track of loot?
Here is a loot spreadsheet. There's a tab for player info and a tab for loot info. You all have the ability to edit it.
____________________________________________________________Faria will accept the darkwood case from Poshment once he tries to identify it, and will open it, hoping it can shed some light on things.
The darkwood case is worth 50 gp, and contains several objects:
- a spirit board (Basically, this is a ouija board.)
- a brass spirit planchette (The pointy thing you move on a ouija spirit board.)
- four iron and glass vials containing tiny, churning clouds of vapor (You might need to bring these to Father Grimburrow to identify, though you're welcome to roll Spellcraft checks yourselves.)
The vials sit in velvet-lined indentations to the left of the spirit board and planchette, along with a couple of empty indentations.
Faria Quorothe |
That loot sheet looks great. Thanks!
Faria's brow furrows as she inspects the contents inside the case. The spirit board and accoutrements are known to her, but she is certainly wary of them, while the flasks are completely foreign. She hands the case to Sharien, hoping she can shed some light.
Faria Quorothe |
"Yes, let us get back. It's been a long day." The priestess sighs wearily. Upon their exit, she tries to seal the door or at least close it the best she can, again making the spiral blessing on her chest before turning back to Ravengro.
Faria Quorothe |
Faria approaches Kendra, an expression of sympathy on her face. "I apologize for us leaving you, Kendra. Our little trip gathered much of use, thanks to your father."
She squats by her side, putting her hand on the woman's shoulder. "There is no shame in tears. Grief is a natural part of the life cycle. If you want to talk about your father, or just need a shoulder to cry on, I will be here." She smiles weakly, then leaves the woman to her friends, retiring to her room (assuming she has been assigned a room).
Sharien Oakfoot |
"Do not worry, my friend. We will continue learning facts about what really happened with your father, until the truth is known." Sharien gives Kendra a quick hug, then heads to her own room to retire.
Zorra |
Not knowing what to say or do, Zorra simply nods at Kendra and takes her leave.
Faria Quorothe |
Faria wakes up the next morning feeling quite refreshed after having slept in a decent bed for the first time in quite a while. She stretches and dresses, then goes to meet with the others who have already risen.
"What do we want to look into today, friends? Seems we have almost a month to wait things out here, might as well be productive. Sharien, do you think you could look at these flasks and try to figure out what they do?" The priestess indicates the four tubes with the writhing smoke.
Poshment Galier |
Poshment wakes with a bit of a start and it takes him a moment to figure out where he is. After a few deep breaths he realizes he's back home and the events of the day before come back to him. A sadness starts to fill him but he pushes that down and begins to dress.
As he emerges down stairs he is properly dressed and his hair has been brushed out and thrown back into a loose poneytail. He looks at Faria and smiles "Morning Mrs. Quorothe" he says greeting her warmly.
GM Engleaktig |
When Poshment awakes, Kendra isn't there. (Kendra didn't sleep all night.) When everyone wakes up, she has a heaping pile-o-breakfast ready for them. Pancakes, waffles, bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast, syrup, sausages, oatmeal, milk, juice, fruit, etc. To prepare this much food, she must have started before the crack of dawn.
She looks drawn. There are circles under her eyes. Despite, that, she greets every party member with a smile and serves you breakfast.
Faria Quorothe |
"You shouldn't worry about that. We can fend for ourselves, but appreciate the effort you are putting forth. Now that we've all gotten some rest, what do we want to tackle today?"
