The drake gives another trilling laugh, and this time answers in Taldane, revealing it understood everything that was being said to it before. "We'll see whose sleep becomes an endless nightmare when you meet my master!" He flies away, turning left at the end of the hallway to head south towards the large doorway.

I'm assuming you want to turn left to go north into the larger hallway there?

A long, broad hallway connects to a set of stairs leading down ahead of you. To your left, a second, narrower hallway leads back to the south. To the right, coiled in the eastern alcove is a statue of a large, cobra-like snake with a contemplative humanoid face, with a statue of a smaller, winged humanoid crouching below it. Parts of the statue have crumbled and fallen to the ground, though enough detail remains to see sadness in the snake-like creature’s stony eyes.

DC 20 Knowledge (dungeoneering):
The statue is of a race of naga known as a Guardian Naga. These creatures are usually benevolent and helpful.

You recognize this statue as a depiction of Slassalla, a guardian naga who acted as magical council to the Knights of Ozem during the Shining Crusade. Historians debate just how influential she was in persuading them to turn the Whispering Tyrant’s fortress into his prison.

The smaller statue is of a gargoyle. That's a little odd - gargoyles aren't usually good, so why would they place a statue of one in this place?

I've moved all those who said they were looking at the statues into the room.

As Amiri approaches the statue, the smaller one of the winged humanoid -- up close, it's more monstrous than it appeared at first, with horns and an tail -- suddenly springs to life and attacks! It leaps into the air, hovering with powerful flaps of its wings, and slashes across her face with razor-sharp claws. 7 damage to Amiri.

DC 15 Knowledge (nature):
This is a gargoyle, a monstrous humanoid with affinity to earth. Nearly all Monstrous Humanoids have darkvision. This one appears to have a touch of fiendish influence as well. With a higher check, you might recall information about resistances (damage, energy, or spell), special attacks, or other special abilities.

Prisim begins casting her spell. Daeron heals Seoni. Tallwun's stone misses, but Amiri's massive sword cuts into the Gargoyle's rocky flesh, causing even that creature to bleed somewhat, although somewhat less than a human would have given the power of the blow. Two Blades tries to take advantage, but finds his sword doing no damage, just as Daeron's arrows did.

Angry at being wounded, the creature leaps into the air and, from overhead, claws, bites, and gores the barbarian. 19 damage to Amiri. It is now hovering directly over Amiri's square, 5 feet up, by taking a 5-foot "step" using its fly speed.

DC 15 Knowledge (planes):
The otherworldly, fiendish nature of this gargoyle makes it somewhat resistant to weapons that are not good aligned, even if the weapon itself is magic.

The gargoyle is pushed out of the way by Amiri's sudden expansion, as the ceiling of the room is only 10 feet high. Forced into a corner, the gargoyle brandishes its claws and teeth, and winces in pain as an acid glob smacks into its chest.

I'm playing a pregen sorceress or I'd heal Amiri..(she's our best chance for killing this thing FYI) in my opinion..everyone who has access to a healing spell or wand should be Healing Amiri right now...I got lucky I did '7' dmg to the Gargoyle last round...I don't think anyone else has even hurt the beast..besides Amiri and Seoni.. again think it's in "our" interest to keep Amiri up...
