"I was stilll talking to it! Why did you do that?", Alia shakes her head:"No, don't even tell me. I don't think I even want to know. Forget I asked. I'll be outside.", before moving back out to the place where Ed and Tamris had made camp before.
FYI: Alia is considering if you've been changed during your time of being dead. Maybe it was not a Fey Lord that sent you back, but rather some undead thing, or the lady in the mirror, or something else...and you're now covering up for it before we learn more...

"We made a plan, and that plan was to kill it. If you wanted the plan to change, you needed to give me a bit more warning."
"But it's pretty clear to me that he had nothing of value to say. Instead of bargaining for his unlife, he continued to crack wise."

It seems I overestimated your mental capabilities and will make sure to spell things out next time."
With a stomp, she turns just as quickly when she is finished, then moves on.
Just a bit emotional because you took matters in your own hands - no offense meant...as for dangers, we've been searching the place for a while already, I doubt there's any dangers left, especially not of the mindless sort :)

"It seems I overestimated your mental capabilities..."
Numalar frowns and his jaws clench.
"Do NOT insult me, child. You are far too cavalier with dangers that affect all of us. Who appointed you to speak for all of us, or decide to offer mercy on our behalf? That Thing was a creature of great power and dark evil, and there is no certainty at all that your sword would have struck home should it have tried something. Did you not hear Ed's warning?"
"You need to wake up from the fairyland you seem to live in. This is not a game*. You do not give a creature like that the chance to regain its strength."
* Yes, I know it's actually a game called Pathfinder. Numalar doesn't know that. :)
It's also noteworthy to mention that you posted an action trying to interfere with my burning hands and the GM resolved my action before I had the chance to see that you were trying to stop me from doing it. So try not to get too angry; I didn't even have the opportunity to hold back. When I posted my attack, the Thing had responded you your 'answer or die' question with a smartass joke. It was clear he wasn't going to give us anything and it seemed a good time to take him down.

Aware of the pride. As said, Alia harbors suspicions that you were trying to silence it before it could tell us more. Having died and come back plays into that.
I also feel compelled to note that when stomping off, I'll probably have heared it clearly until around "speak for all of us"...if you were shouting, maybe until "great power and dark evil"...because Alia will not stay and listen, or get drawn into an argument. She wants some alone time to ponder possible connections between what Ed said, what happened, and your death and resurrection. As such, she has no interest in discussing a point already rendered moot and much less interest in being lectured right now. Do feel free to hold a grudge but yeah, she's walking out on you while you rant.
@Not angry at all. But there's more of a mystery to be learned here, if only regarding what he had been set to guard or why. GM already hinted that it may become relevant sometime later, but Alia does not know that. ;) From her perspective, it was simply rash, and rude, by ignoring her intent...because she does not for a moment belief that you did not realize she was trying to learn more, wether that could have worked or not.
Ignoring the tirade from Numalar, Alia speeds up her pace, more hustling out than walking, only slowing a bit and releasing the tension in her muscles when the voice trailing off becomes too weak to understand.

"... Can't we all just get along?" she pleads as she turns to leave as well.
Numalar turns to Celyne. "I don't mean to distress you or bring disharmony to our group. But surely you cannot expect me to simply abide her insults, do you? There is only so much disrespect I can take. Most of my life I have been bullied by big people like her."
Numalar turns back and points to the alcove where the Thing was hiding.
"But before we go, perhaps you would have a look at old bony's hiding spot, will you? There might be a secret compartment or something. If the Thing was indeed guarding something, it might be in here."

When she realizes Scarlet and Zokon are following, she stops and turns once out of earshot:"I appreciate the gesture, but I need some time to think. I'll be save. I just can't stand him right now. Not like this. You think he killed him on purpose so he couldn't tell us more? That thing may have acted like a jokster, but that magic connection with the mirror, that was not by chance. And I doubt he called the lady to spy on those ragamuffins - not in a 2-way connection. And was he here when this place got built, or was he placed here later? Does this place have something to do with that monster bear we killed outside? Why did Ed and Tamris mean to leave it alone? There's so many pieces of the puzzle missing, and the one piece that could have provided insight, gone." Alia sighs. "Numalar died. You saw it. What if it was not some fairy queen that sent him back out of goodwill? How often did you hear about a dead person coming back to the living, no strings attached and no price paid? What if he bargained for his soul with darker powers? He may cover something up, here, in someones name."
Just for the record, I re-read the previous part and Alia will also be irritated regarding the part "who appointed you to speak for all of us, or offer mercy on our behalf", when clearly, Numalar did act for all of us not caring about a differing opinion, and decided to use lethal force against an enemy at our mercy, without inmediate need to do so- as in, hypocrisy. I know that answer is triggered by the pride-drawback, but it still seems weird to call her out on that when Numalar "decided to not speak any more, for all of us, and denied mercy on our behalf" :) - I am aware that was the ultimate plan, but we were not in a hurry, and we knew the guy was stuck here. Eccentric yes, but I don't think Posh is too blood thirsty. If anything, he was one of those on Alia's side in regards to the bandits. Also as Posh is near Celeyne, Posh probably didn't hear this convo which is a shame, he is also suspicious of Numalar.

Gnomes can have the same concerns and motivations as members of other races, but just as often they are driven by passions and desires that non-gnomes see as eccentric at best, and nonsensical at worst. A gnome may risk his life to taste the food at a giant's table, to reach the bottom of a pit just because it would be the lowest place he's ever been, or to tell jokes to a dragon—and to the gnome those goals are as worthy as researching a new spell, gaining vast wealth, or putting down a powerful evil force. While such apparently fickle and impulsive acts are not universal among gnomes, they are common enough for the race as a whole to have earned a reputation for being impetuous and at least a little mad.

Posh is honestly a bit stunned by what Numalar stated and decides to pursue this conversation out of interest now instead of investigation as his line about light and darkness hit home.
"I've not heard of Mongrel men, but it sounds like they live in a the kind of society most people on the surface dream of." he pauses for a moment, not seeming to pick up anything on Mongrelmen in the back of his mind "That being said, I agree with what you mean about this world. Because you live on the surface, that doesn't make you good as we've seen with the bandits on the surface, but do you believe someone who has caused much harm and bloodied their own hands many times can turn that around or are they cursed to stay as they are?"

Well, Posh asked! :)
There's not a lot about the Darklands in Paizo material outside the Inner Sea World Guide and the Second Darkness AP. Though the articles on races from the darklands are also useful. I made up Ohrza-Kushain for Numalar's background, though. I originally envisioned Numalar as a kobold, though mechanically there was no way to make it viable.

"Oh, I wouldn't envy the mongrelmen. They are treated poorly by almost everyone in the darklands. Yet somehow, they do not turn to evil as a way to get by. As a group anyhow; there are evil mongrelmen just as there are evil humans. But perhaps the suffering they receive at the hands of others makes them understand the value of kindness."
"do you believe someone who has caused much harm and bloodied their own hands many times can turn that around?"
"Does the hanging of the bandits still trouble you? I suspect that is what is on your mind."
"The question is, how can you tell if such a change is genuine? If a criminal has been caught, and thinks that proclaiming his desire to change will earn him freedom, would he not claim such a desire even if he had none? Some are sorry for the evil they have done, but others are merely sorry that they were caught. And it is not always easy to tell one from the other."
"Then let us say that you believe such a criminal and set him free, but it turns out that his repentance was a lie, and he returns to the evil that you caught him in in the first place. Are you not responsible, at least in part, for the new evils that he has done, since you could have prevented it?"
"It is a dilemma, and I understand your feelings."
"Had they simply pilfered a few chickens or written something rude about Svetlana on Oleg's wall, I would have voted to let them go with a warning. But lives were at stake. Had we let them go there was a real risk that they would kill again - perhaps even taking retribution against Oleg and Svetlana for reporting them."
"What could we do? There are no prisons here to turn them over to, and Brevoy does not incarcerate bandits. Sir Kesten has his hands full with those two... give him another four and there's a real risk that the prisoners could overpower the guards. I couldn't see any other way to keep people safe from those men. Us included."
"In a perfect world there would be a place that would secure such men and allow them to repay their debts and learn to live with others in peace. But there's nothing like that here."
"Listen to me ramble on. I have said all this before. I was asking you about Pitax! Do they handle such things any differently there?"

Heading back to "exploration mode" in about 15 hours.
I'll use the newly-minted purple path...
May I propose the Orange Path? it is the same length as the purple path but covers more hexes. It also leaves the more southern hexes for later, which I'd prefer. The little northern bump at the beginning is optional.
There is also the possible Red Detour if we want to head to Oleg's to resupply, and either get crafting materials or order them.

One potential problem with Red is the lack of a known ford to cross at along the Thorn River that far north.
Feel free to discuss the path you'd like to take. For now I will assume that the party wishes to explore the area around the stone 'Temple of the Elk'.

The next day the party begins its survey of the local area. It's a nice clear day High 55 F, low 45 F with an almost negligible breeze. The forest is full-bloom though land here would be tough going without horses. Rough stone hills, and a number of streams mark the land beneath the trees and creating innumerable steep vales. As a whole the land seems to rise higher the further north you go.
The area is filled with typical temperate forest fauna, including: song birds, deer, and small ground mammals.

Alia enjoys the short respite given to them. The woods seemed peaceful, and the air was so much better than in the dusty catacombs below the temple.
For a moment, she wondered if the Fey still observed them, but then decided not to think of the evil little critters now. They survived, for another day, and if fate saw fit to let them wander through such a beautiful landscape on a wonderful day, then she did not intend to insult the gods by not fully cherishing the gift.
Sitting in the saddle, trusting her horse to move along with the others, she closes her eyes, letting the sun shine into her face where it breaks through the foliage, simple listening to the sounds around and enjoying the smells of the forest.

Alia's keen sight however notes something about one of the thickets just past midday.

knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Celyne recognizes it as an assassin vine!
This particular variety is called Briar Noose, a semi-mobile plant that collects its own grisly fertilizer.
It possess plant traits.
Though unable to move at any great speed, these plants have a large reach and are dangerous enemies. As well as being capable of dealing nasty blows with the trunk of their vine, the construction of these vines allow them to grab and strangle their victims with ease.
Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of the assassin vine is its ability to animate all nearby plants. These plants entangle and trap victims within their range, allowing the assassin vine the luxury of finishing off one foe before having to deal with others. These creatures are also very resilient to extremes of temperature.
