GM Drachenfels |

Great updates everyone. Let me digest what you've all written and respond accordingly before we throw any more literary grenades at my feet. I love the challenge and definitely think the story is spinning in an interesting (if not dangerous) direction, but in the hopes to maintain some control give me the weekend to establish some order.
Let's try also to keep our NPC's in check. It'll be too easy to have Harlen Vesh burning everyone alive and ending our game prematurely, hence my rather crafty update featuring the Lady Gravin herself pulling the reigns in a bit on the worlds most infamous Witch Hunter.
Still, love what you guys are coming up with. Very fun!

pinvendor |

My original vision was simply to include some NPCs for my little mini-story involving Lutke nd the Champion. It was not my intention to make them recurring characters who influence the story tooooooo much. But if GM Drachenfels decides to go crezy of course, I can't stop him. :P

GM Drachenfels |

I had posted in response:
"Overstepping our authority aren't we, Harlen?" The Lady Gravin responds, lifting a black raven sharp eyebrow. "There will be no sending in of the dogs until I say so. Are we clear?"
Harlen Vesh stood from the table, his eyes embers of fire and hate. He'd strike that damnable woman down now if he could, but the black hearted witch had too much control and influence. Destroying her would also mean the end of Harlen and that's something the Witch Hunter simply could not allow. He'd have to be patient.
"Of course, m'lady. Upon your orders. As always." Harlen chokes on the words, retaking his seat like a large (dangerous) sullen child.
And yet:
As Harlens step from the Countess Whores residence he make a subtle motion to 2 of his more stealthy killers across the street to proceed with prior plans.
I can't properly GM if you guys ignore my updates.

GM Drachenfels |

We need to be VERY careful that we don't all introduce too many elements or the story will spin totally out of control. I don't want this to be the story of Harlen killing Albrecht. This is the story of the Gray Wolves defending Wolfenburg against the forces of Chaos.
However, since Harlen Vesh has TOTALLY ignored the Lady Gravin, I'll adjust to that development.

GM Drachenfels |

HARLEN VESH:
"He has ignored your command to leave the wizard alone. He sent two agents out to track him."
For long moments the Lady Gravin pondered this until at last she spoke, "Very well, Spymaster. I cannot have my subordinates countermanding my every order. I admire initiative, but in the case of Witch Finder Vesh it can be a bit too much. Deal with it."
"As you command, m'lady."
Let's leave the fate of Harlen Vesh as a question mark for now and re-focus on the main player characters.
Very soon we'll be embarking on the next phase of our story which will be destroying the Hellcannon. But first we'll need to see Albrecht's conclusion to his tale and the final part of Pinvendor's descriptions about the Champion.
PINVENDOR: Do you want me to handle that description (the Champion), or do you have that well in hand? Here in the next week I'd like to get the main story back on the rails and get us back into the thick of the action.

LACKEY: Channeling the spirit of the great Vincent Lombaristi, the Tilean Snotball legend? *grin* I'll toss you +10 xp for the idea, though the eyes of Tzeentch saw through your subterfuge! Fun speech nonetheless.
Just gonna go ahead and say Vince Lombardi would be a Njord snotballer coach. GOD BLESS GREEN BAY AND OUR SAVIOR AARON RODGERS

Harlen Phineas Vesh |

Well Harlen didnt effect albrect in any way whatsoever so you are jumping to conclusions lackey and njord just had some fun is all didnt do anything to the story at all chill. I did read your bit whith the countess but harlen is just like that. Very unrelenting I wont add to the story with him just giving outside flavor.

GM Drachenfels |

With the start of a new week coming up, I think I'm going to push us into the next phase of our story. I have some ideas on how to handle the last part of Albrecht's 'Tower Troubles'. And as far as Lutke's dealings with the Champion of Chaos, those we can unveil as a story flashback.

GM Drachenfels |

ALTDORF NEWS FLASH:
I felt inspired and went ahead with my plans to get the story rolling. Post up your updates/roleplay/descriptions.
Special attention is needed by Albrecht to resolve a few pressing issues.
Also, the scene with Lutke and the Champion can be played out as a flashback since I'm now moving the story forward. So try to craft anything that happens there in a way that ties in with current events. We'll play off your story as we go.

GM Drachenfels |

Great update Albrecht! Hope you like my response.
That being said, I wanted to talk about Fortune Points. I think we talked about them earlier but never did anything to add them to our PBP games. That being said here is what I propose:
Like Warhammer 2E you have as many Fortune Points as you have Fate Points. But instead of them regenerating every game session, you earn them in addition to experience as rewards. You'll notice in my latest post I awarded Albrecht +50xp and a Fortune Point.
Once you reach zero fortune points you can no longer use them until you earn more. They do not regenerate, though there may be times in the story where we close a chapter and I may inform the party that all their Fortune Points have been restored. Anyhow...
A Fortune Point can be used to re-roll any one failed roll. A good example of this would be a failed Saving Throw attempt.
Not sure I can see any way we can use them to augment combat spam rolls, though I'm open to suggestions. Let me know what you guys think before I write the rules into the compendium.

GM Drachenfels |

Standard Warhammer rules, you have as many Fortune Points to spend per game as you do Fate Points. So if you have 3 Fate points you have 3 Fortune Points to spend every time you play.
Since we don't really have sessions of play in PBP, I figure once you spend your fortune points they are gone, until the "Chapter" comes to an end or you earn more.

OneDrunkViking |

I know that, all of that I GOT. But you said:
Oh, I was thinking you could earn more than your max since they don't refresh very often. So you can have +1 over your total, that's fine.Even though RIGHT before you said:
Like Warhammer 2E you have as many Fortune Points as you have Fate Points.Which is why I said:
I stay at my max of 2(or whatever it is?) incentive to use em I suppose!
So what's it gonna be? The max is equal to fate point total (which is absolutely fine and easier to deal with.) or different?
OR are you saying we START out at fortune poins EQUALLING our fate points and they can go higher than that so we can horde them since they don't replenish?

Also, check out the name "quoted" in Lucas' memory of his discussion with Nulner!
Drachenfels: Incidentally, while I like the content of your Rekstahl post, you did kind of ninja me...I was actually planning to create a Rekstahl avatar and do my flashback posts from his perspective, lol. I can do it from Lutke's no problem though. Also, I sent you a very lengthy private message here on the forums about Lutke and what I am envisioning for him based on the Rekstahl interaction. First time I have tried to do that, so let me know if you are able to locate and read it.

Lackey Gunterman "Grog" |

English translation of my game post.
1. Together were the esir
all in council,
and the femas
all in conference,
and they consulted,
the mighty gods,
why Balder had
oppressive dreams.
2. Uprose Odin
lord of men
and on Sleipni
he the saddle laid;
rode thence down
to Niflhome.
A dog he met,
from Helhome coming.
3. Bloody he was
on his breast before,
at the father of magic
he howled from afar;
forward rode Odin,
the earth resounded
till the house so high
of Hel he reached.
4. Then Odin rode
to the eastern door,
There, he knew well,
was the wise-woman's grave;
magic he spoke
and mighty charms,
till spell-bound she rose,
and in death she spoke:
5. «What man is this,
to me unknown,
who has for me increased
an irksome course?
I have with snow been decked,
by rain beaten,
and with dew moistened:
long have I been dead.»
6. ODIN:
«Vegtam is my name,
I am Valtam's son.
Tell thou me of Hel:
from, earth I call on thee.
For whom are those benches
strewed o'er with rings,
those costly couches
o'erlaid with gold?»
7. VOLVA:
«Here stands mead,
for Balder brewed,
over the bright potion
a shield is laid;
but the esir's are in despair.
By compulsion
I have spoken.
I will now be silent.»
8. ODIN:
«Be not silent, Volva!
I will question thee,
until I know all.
I will yet know
who will Balder's
slayer be,
and Odin's
son of life bereave.»
9. VOLVA:
«Hód will hither
his glorious brother send,
he of Balder will
the slayer be,
and Odin's son
of life bereave.
By compulsion I have spoken;
I will now be silent.»
10. ODIN:
«Be not silent, Volva!
I will question thee,
until I know all.
I will yet know
who on Hód
vengeance will inflict,
or Balder's slayer
raise on the pile.»
11. VOLVA:
«Rind bears Vala
in the western halls:
he shall slay Odin's son,
when one night old.
He a hand will not wash,
nor his head comb,
ere he to the pile has borne
Balder's adversary.
By compulsion I have spoken;
I will now be silent.»
12. ODIN:
«Be not silent, Volva!
I will question thee,
until I know all.
I will yet know
what maidens are they
who then shall weep,
and toss to heaven
the yards of the sails?»
13. VOLVA:
«Not Vegtam art thou,
as I before believed;
rather art thou Odin,
lord of men!»
ODIN:
«Thou art no Volva,
nor wise woman,
rather art thou the mother
of three rimetroll.»
14. VOLVA:
«Home ride thou, Odin!
And exult.
Thus shall never more
man again visit me,
until Loki free
from his bonds escapes,
and Ragnarok
all-destroying comes.»

I did indeed understand the reference to Game Makers. I haven't finished the second book, but I did read the first one. I have it on hold since I have been working on the Warhammer Fantasy fiction series about Sigmar and Nagash. You know, I know Drachenfels is like also an uber magic guy, but as a necromancer, Nagash is wickedly awesome. The mere fact that with his ring, he can command even the vampires is pretty freaking insane.

GM Drachenfels |

I always gravitated to Drachenfels, even though there is much less written about him in the Warhammer universe than Nagash. I never did really use Nagash in any way. I suppose it was just the way things unfolded. Since Drachenfels has ALWAYS been a major antagonist in my games over the thousands of years I've GM'd (ok, hundreds), I always like returning to him as a favorite villain.
But yes, Nagash is an interesting character indeed. And Teclis is also a lot of fun!

Lol, well as much has been written about Nagash, they have never made a module for his fortress at Nagashizzar unlike Drachenfels who his very own write up and was in the Vampire Genevieve novels as antagonist.
I am not knocking Drachenfels. His specialties lie in illusions and manipulations and he's ridiculously powerful and awesome. He definitely deserves to be a main villain and I enjoy the things you have done with him.
Nagash is a lot more direct and focuses on dead and undead magics. But he outclasses EVERYONE in necromancy without a doubt. I just find him pretty fascinating.

Lol, what can I say? I guess Albrecht isn't the only '77' monster. Lucas Biedelmann is a almost as legendary as Albrecht after all. Remember that '01' I rolled on one of the Thousand Thrones main antagonists? :P
But at least you can redact that WP roll you made and have Albrecht do something.

GM Drachenfels |

Indeed, Lucas is a legendary leader and Warhammer seems to remember that. Well played my friend! I updated the main thread with what I think is a very fitting description. Please feel free to add to it in any way you see fit.
And yes, Fear checks are no longer required. I updated the main rules for the Bog Octopus as well as made a note of it in a recent post.
Pinvendor: I thought you'd get a kick out of my hentai reference, haha!

GM Drachenfels |

Added a fun scene with Gretta. I wanted to work her back into the story in some way as I think she's a very interesting NPC. I hope you guys enjoy.
Looking forward to Dagon's updates. I'm anxious to see what Krak and Boom come up with to deal with the squid! And it'll be fun to see what terrors Albrecht and Lackey can unleash.

GM Drachenfels |

Lol, dude. Do you realize you seem to love "avataring" the NPCs I name. You're obsessed, lol. Keep it up, man.
Haha, thanks! I'm not sure what inspired me to create an avatar for Aimes, but I really like him so far. Njord has been playing less of a comic relief role lately, so I'm having Aimes step in to fill the part :)

GM Drachenfels |

So Albrecht brings up a good point. Lets say you lose in a combat after all the spam rolls are said and done, but the enemy beat you ONLY with defense dice. Should it count or be considered a draw?
Personally I tend to agree with Albrecht. However, if even one attack gets through, then you need to use the total number of successes vs your own to determine the minus modifier to a Saving Throw. I don't want to get too complex by saying only attack dice count for anything if that makes sense.
In other news:
I must say I'm really liking this encounter. Everyone's characters have really come together nicely and the adventure is starting to feel like a classic Warhammer game. I think we're finally mastering the PBP system.
Keep up the good work everyone :)

GM Drachenfels |

PINVENDOR: You there, sir? You've been oddly absent. I had figured it was the weekend coupled with valentines day. Was hoping we'd start seeing some updates from you soon.
In other news, I've been having issues with the Paizo site lately. It's not letting me edit posts or characters, and I'm having difficulty with logging in as well. Anyone else experiencing any weird bugs?
