The threat to Varisia, in the form of an army of giants led by a stone giant wizard named Mokmurian, is over. Our heroes slew the evil giant in his lair in the fortress of Jorgenfist. But a greater threat now looms...

Wow. Looking at your quote of my ooc for Praxim, it sounds really snitty! That was definitely not intentional. Please nobody read it that way.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

No! No no no not at all. I always go in taking a quote in the lightest view(Well, unless it's a blatantly obvious of course). Mainly because of how truly difficult it is to express "tone" in written word. I gotta read and reread what I write to make sure it doesn't sound offensive in any form or fashion when I'm obviously trying not to be. And I still seem to find a way to mess it up. :P

It's tough, dude. It's tough.

Grand Lodge

Yeah. No offense taken- and none intended, by the way. Just Praxim's personality shining through.

Gang, my last post for a bit will be tomorrow, as I will be headed to Origins in Columbus OH for the rest of the week. Please post up your initial actions upon entering the room and I'll get going as soon as I get back!

Javell/Thordak check your PM.

Prep time first. Didn't find time over the weekend...

Protection from all five energies on me, obviously.
Resistance against all energies for any two people who want it.
I'm thinking Wall-spells.
Shall I cast Planar binding / Greater planar binding and get us some contractors?

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Heroes feast: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

@Tomaru: Are those spells the ones you have cast upon us? Or are you going to cast them?

I ask because Lym is talking about Resistance spells as well so I figure we better get it straightened out beforehand.

Planar binding? If you think we might need it then sure. Don't forget we also got Archie and Veronica. ;)

Cool. Have fun, bud!

And got it. :)

Heroe's Feast is cast every morning. The other spells are cast before going into the wrath section.

To keep it all in one place, here's the spells that he casts.
Heroe's Feast: everyone gets d8+7 hit points 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Resist Energy, Communal V Fire (30 pts for 50 minutes)

Protection from Energy, Communal V Cold (120 pts for 50 minutes)
Protection from Energy, Communal V Acid (120 pts for 50 minutes)
Resist Energy V Sonic (30 pts for 150 minutes)

If Lym will cover herself and Thordak, Tomaru will cast protections for himself, Praxim, and Rexil.

Planar binding? If you think we might need it then sure. Don't forget we also got Archie and Veronica. ;)

Yeah, but I was thinking of rustling up some strong defenders for this job - like shield archons.

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

Okay! Prepared spells:

8 - Greater planar binding, Telekinetic sphere*
7 - Forcecage*, Reverse gravity, Summon monster VII
6 - Globe of invulnerability, Greater dispel magic, Planar binding, Summon monster VI
5 - Break enchantment, Cone of cold*, Interposing hand*, Overland flight, Summon monster V, Wall of force*
4 - Black tentacles, Dimension door, Dimensional anchor, Shout*, Summon monster IV, Wall of ice*
3 - Fireball*, Protection from energy x 5
2 - Knock, Resist energy x 10, Scorching ray*
1 - Detect secret doors, Feather fall, Magic missile* x 4, Shield
0 - Dancing lights, Detect magic, Mage hand, Ray of frost

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

Before we go in, Lym will cast the five Protections and Overland flight on herself, and five Resistances on Thordak -- keeping five Resistances in reserve in case we end up needing it.

This means:

Thordak has resistance 10 against all elements for the next 140 minutes.

Lym can fly for the coming 14 hours, and can tank 120 points of all types of energy damage for the coming 140 minutes.

And now, it is time... to call in some extraplanar support!

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

They finally made it to the Tower... but now what?

Just back to work, give me today to get caught up, and will be back in it.

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

Welcome back. ^_^

Really sorry gang. The 'let me catch up' has turned into the 'week from hell'.

Trying to get it under control.

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

Take the time you need, okay? ^_^

I'm a bit torn here on how much to play out the binding of these creatures. For one thing, you are supposed to convince each creature individually to help you. I'm not going to go that route.

The second piece is that these are essentially potential allies - how would they feel about being bound to serve as opposed to a Summon Planar Ally - which seems to be a 'friendlier' spell if you know what I mean.

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

This is exactly why I always, always open with the equivalent of "you are not a prisoner here, and if you don't like the deal on the table, you can just go home, no harm no foul".
I'm not a Cleric or an Oracle, I use the tools given to me, but I don't have to be a jerk about it.

Truth, and you guys do a great job selling it that way. I'm trying to balance the encounters so it doesn't feel like you just summon these powerful beings and they automatically just say 'Ok'.

But I don't want to drag it out if doesn't add anything to the game. Again, trying to balance.

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

You're doing a great job at that, too, OGGM. No fear. ^_^

Grand Lodge

Not that I mean her any disrespect, but what are we doing with Aurora's magic items?

lesser cold elemental metamagic rod
lesser selective metamagic rod
scroll of plane shift
+1 domineering spiked gauntlet
eyes of the eagle
handy haversack
headband of alluring charisma +6
ring of resistance +3
robe of arcane heritage
nevelatu's ashes
spell component pouch
tattooing tools
59,964 gp

I was thinking that some items, like the robe of arcane heritage and eyes of the eagle would have personal value to her and should be buried with her, while the metamagic rods were adventuring tools that we could put to use.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

@Dax: Yeah that makes sense.

And will get something up tomorrow night. I had something but then for some dumb reason I clicked on alias or something and completely forgot that was my gameplay tab. Ugh! Probably has something to do with me barely being able to stay awake.

Apologies for the delay. I did move Thordak though on the map. He's got 20' reach from being in titanic rage so that's why he's a couple squares away.

Definitely get to it tomorrow night after work.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Sorry, Lym. Thordak typically rolls with acid on his elemental rage but I just copied and pasted from the previous Thordak and completely bombed on that one. My bad.

Ah well, look at it this way, it'll just make it that much more of a challenge. :P

I'm still here guys - the 4th holiday here had me away from any sort of electronic device!

Will kill you all in my next post. Will get something up today! Note: the hours will be off as I'm working midnights this week.

Lol! Never actually played the game itself but I know it from Lego Dimensions(Hey, Lego games are pretty fun/funny let me tell you). You get to play the mute girl. Can't remember her name. Pretty funny though that Glados.

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

Does anyone know the mute girl's name?
At the end of Portal 2, Glados just calls her "you dangerous, mute lunatic".

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Lol! Glados is so dang funny.

Chell! Had to ask my kiddos and my son remembered. :)

This combat is going to be a little chaotic because of the two locations. However I will try to control it on a round-by-round basis, so watch for that and be aware of where your character is located. The limitations of the circles will make it harder to get everyone together quicker.

Still here. Work again. It figures we are THIS close to finishing this book and I can't get any time to get to it.

Have patience with me, please.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

It's all good, OG! We'll be ready to roll whenever you are, no worries at all, bud.

Seconded. Take the time you need!

Still here. Should be off of 12-hour shifts tomorrow until Friday. Will try to get something posted tomorrow.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Just fyi, in my last post I meant to include you as well in the spoiler heading, Tomaru. Totally wasn't even thinking. :P

I think that spate of horrible dice just saved Tomaru's life. Desna's light truly shines down on our cleric...

Grand Lodge

Did you really have them attack Tomaru when he was unconscious and dying?! You're a terrible GM. I'm going to complain to the GM Authority. By all the gods in all the heavens I swear that you're not going to get away with this.

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

Good thing we have a backup healer...!
It's mean how I couldn't send the archons through, too. :(

I'm sorry? I put in the part about 'venting sinful wrath' for a reason.

Lym Blackhand wrote:

It's almost like they've had several millenia to practice bottling up the teleporters when there's an attack on the Halls of Wrath...

You may or may not have considered your next dilemma already: Rexil, the archons, and the arbiters are on the 'other side', as it were. Everyone charged straight through into the circle, and then Lym's last command was 'step aside'. They have no way of knowing what is going on in this room, or whether you will be back.

Thoughts?

I have my ideas, but I'd to hear what you think.

Otherwise I'm going to have another report filed with the GM Authority. It's ok, I have my own wing in that library.

EDIT: not sure you noticed on the map, but there is a blue circle in the room with the red one you are standing on. I'm saving the room description until you can see the whole thing.

Grand Lodge

I figure blue sends you back to the blue circle from where we left.

Tomaru can get back. Probably.

Now it’s the matchup we’ve all been waiting for: a battle of wits and logic between archons of order, and Rexil, the teenage stone giant.

Of all the places I thought this campaign might go, and all the places it's been, I did not expect this. It shall be my greatest challenge. ;)

Sorry again, guys. Slipped a disc, spent a week in bed hopped on Vicodin just trying to sleep. Back now (pun intended).

It's better. Getting older ain't for sissies. It's really an intermittent thing - maybe gets me once a year.

Lol! Man o man you ain't kiddin'. :P

Glad to hear it's getting better though. The back is a tricky thing for sure. A supervisor of mine - way back in the day - bent over to pick up a pen and threw out his back.

A fellow co-worker of mine missed 2 years after having to have surgery on his back. Can't remember why exactly though. Amazingly enough, that was about 10 or so years ago and he's had no issues since.
