“Nightmares hey?” Altha sounded thoughtful then blinked as Agia seemed to phase through the crystal and then, one by one, the others followed. Intrigued, the Nano pushed through the crystal once more, the sensation prickling across her senses.

When she fully passed through the wall and took in the interior, she laughed happily, “Oh would you look at this! Just as promised!” She rolled up her sleeves and flexed her fingers, obviously intending to tinker and figure out the workings of the place – what was it for? How was it related to the nightmares? And, peripherally, she registered Dreithik's comment about the Priests but she wasn't really here for the Priests... more for the technology.

As murmurs of rest were passed between the others, Altha nodded her agreement. “Nothing's jumped out at us yet and I'd like to have a talk with this set up, see what's up if I can. Anyone else good with Numenera? I could use your opinions if you're up for it.” She had somehow come alive in the cool interior, shifting between the various turbines and tubes.

For evidence of the Priests.

I think they should rest in the dome if it seems not dangerous. Altha could use a good rest to recover her pools. She could also tinker until she fell asleep as well - this is sort of her element.

Agia swallowed hard as Altha described the function of the dome, even if she did so as if this holy place was some mere machine. Agia's people also looked to the sky for guidance, and the idea that the group may have been desecrating sacred ground filled her with dread.

In her mind she went through twelve different chants of supplication that might be used to sooth the offended sky god, but then stopped short. "I've come a long way from my home to a land that has never known snow in living memory. This land is likely be ruled a different god entirely. A god of desert heat, gazing down upon its lands with a baleful, blazing eye. A vengeful god, clearly, not so different from the lord of snow and tempests that guides me, but if it is a jealous god I must be doubly careful not to offend it with offerings meant for another. The safest path is to follow the ways of this temple."

In the face of divine wrath, the aeon priests seemed a minor problem. Agia performed a soft chant of spiritual protection and then examined the burnt out cylinder once more to determine if a replacement could be fashioned by the people of redstone.

Trained numenera knowledge roll to see what it would take to manufacture a replacement, looking mostly at what materials it's made of without knowledge of what configuration they might need to be in. I expect it to be impossible, but it doesn't hurt to check.

Intellect: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

...

Turning to face the others, Agia spoke with an awed quaver in her voice, "This place has brought us shelter when we needed it sorely, but we should not linger. The gods of this land are unfamiliar to me but they are clearly both powerful and angry. I hate to travel in the heat but we must retrieve the priests and if they offer no solution we will need to leave this place."

She shifted uncomfortably, and prepared to head west.

Agia is very superstitious and won't dare touch offerings left for a sky god or further disturb the temple, but as she believes that this is not a temple to her own god she won't stop others from doing so. She will, however, attribute everything bad that happens to any descraters in the future to divine retribution.

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

Altha's attention drifted away from the group and seemed to narrow down to the panels and interfaces, tapping, shifting wires, muttering to herself as she went. She eventually drifted off to sleep only to be woken again, the shuddering dreams leaving her fighting her fight or flight response and seeking refuge in returning to her work. It was comforting, letting her mind play across the electronic pathways as the picture came together in her mind.

When she noticed the rest were still awake, apparently suffering the same trouble sleeping as her, she wandered back to the group and grinned, “I figured out where we are... this here's a temple, a relay of sorts to talk to a god. Well, more like receive the word of the god and less to deliver one's own messages.” She pointed at the burned out tube and frowned, “The god's rather upset it's not getting it's allotment of praise so nobody gets to sleep until it gets its ego inflated with more praise.” She rubbed her face tiredly.

“The Priests were definitely here,” she gestured around them, “I found traces of their presence while I've been working. I wonder if they're the ones who fried the tube-thingy, or if they're trying to replace it?” Altha glanced to Kellog, “Would they have any reason to tinker with this stuff? Any grudges? Do you even worship a god of some sort?”

She crossed her arms, thinking. If she were honest, she didn't really care too much about the nightmares... cruel and unusual things happened all the time out here. The machine, though.... she was curious about the god and the kind of 'praise' it desired. Were the Priests trying to help or hinder?

“Either way, there's enough stuff here I'm sure we could find a few useful things...” Altha made a gesture mimicking a scale, “However, since it is a temple, it'd technically be raiding a holy place and I don't know how the god will feel about that. Might be best to be careful... If it can induce nightmares, I'm not in a particular hurry to know what else it can induce. It's probably best to go after those Priests.”

Altha is neutral towards some scavenging but would not agree with a full-on raid, especially if it meant further damaging the temple and it's mechanical function.

Can Altha provide an assist to Agia's investigation?

OOC discussion:

So what do you guys think? Is this what a typical ninth-worldler think about stuff like orbiting satellites and data relays?

Are there people out there that know better?

The world is made so advanced that some things may not be comprehensible for 21st century humans. So it's kind of hard to portray that. :)

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

I think it depends on the person and the region they come from. I got the sense that the prevailing thought was not religiously based but it varies from town to town because of the incomprehensible nature of some things.

A satellite could very well seem godlike to people unfamiliar with the tech. In Altha's case, the term god is refering to an unknown device that reacts to a transfer interruption and damaging the relay further could further increase the trouble being cause by the interruption. If that didn't come across, my apologies.

A Honorable Glaive who Defends the Weak

Based on prior encounters with townsfolk I'm going to assume that with the exception of priests and possibly nobles the general populace of Redstone is unaware of any relay or god if that's fair to say

Kellog sat with his back against the cool tile doing as he has done for the past two weeks catching what little glimpse of sleep and watching over his newfound friends struggles with consciousness.

"More gods of the ancients, my family has generally let the priests handle things regarding the strange numenera left by the worlds before us."

Kellog looks about at the offerings, "My sister gave me a fairly destructive crystal before I set out, the sad part is from what I understand is the blast is further than the distance I can throw it. So to me it's little use."

A look at Agia, "Do you believe whatever gods were interested in this would be offended at an exchange. Although, like I said I'm not adept at understanding these things. Perhaps something simple."

OOC conversation:

I think most ninth worlders wouldn't care much about semantics, as long as they got a sense of how to deal with a situation. The order of truth probably likes to dress things up with technobabble to pretend that they understand more than they actually do, describing the dome instead as a "Concentrator Well feeding an unidentified intelligence suspended in the ether which is now imprinting a neurodisruptive waveform on the region", but most people probably favour whatever word is brief and roughly descriptive.

One group of people might call a radiation hazard a place haunted by bad spirits, and another might call it a place contaminated by a killing, invisible light, but what to call it would be less important to both groups than how to safely cross it.

kellogg wrote:

Agia grew pensive. "The gods of your land are unfamiliar to me, but a crystal of such destructive power seems like a very fitting offering for a patron of desert heat and glassy sand, and it is clearly a relic too powerful for us mortals. Exchanging it for an offering that is less pleasing to the presence here would likely be welcomed."

She cringed at the thought of the invisible wrath pouring down on them as long as the machine was broken. "At least, I doubt it will make it more angry than it already is."

male

Here are some answers:

@Agia: she believes that the burn-out cylinder would not be easy (if feasible at all) to be fashioned by the people of Redstone.

@Kellog: the priests kept to themselves so they would not have divulged the existence of the Dome/relay (if they knew about it). No one else in town knew for certain about the dome but there were rumors (which is what got Altha here).

Well, I'm letting this turn run for one more day.

I need two basic questions roleplayed/answered:

a) will you take/exchange any cyphers here? and
b) will you go after the priests and their supposed abductors?

Or you can always do something else but you have to tell me. :)

Kellog looks sets the crystal down among the offerings and picks up something possibly more suitable.

Intellect check to identify anything that may be useful: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (9) - 3 = 6

possibly like the bracelet or a vial though I have no idea what I'm looking at

"If the priests were here and moved on, perhaps they knew of something to fix this temple, you all seem to be able to get as much rest as anyone else these days. Lets follow before dangers fall on them or you become as exhausted as I."

Kellog wrote:
"Lets follow before dangers fall on them or you become as exhausted as I."

Dreithik looked at him, still clutching his wounds."We're here for the priests, so we should follow them. Staying here is going get us nothing but more tired and exhausted. Although I do think we should wait until dusk" He glanced over to Agia.

A whole town going through this for days, weeks. No gods I've ever heard of have plagued an entire town because something else wasn't working.. Odd way of asking for help."So, if we are going to be here a while yet, we could try and find out exactly how this god likes to be praised."

I re-read the Gameplay and edited my post. I rolled a 4 on a perception check that I still intended to roll, but accidentally deleted. so,

Perception: 1d20 = 4

As for the everyday ninthworlder talk, everything has pretty much been said. Anyone can believe anything if it gets them through the day.

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

Altha nodded thoughtfully as Kellog spoke of his village's beliefs, or the lack thereof. If this was a temple for the god of secretive Priests... it still didn't shed light on the Priests' intent. If anything, the Nano's experiences had taught her that where there's doubt, it's best to plan for the worst case scenario.

Kellog wrote:
Kellog looks about at the offerings, "My sister gave me a fairly destructive crystal before I set out, the sad part is from what I understand is the blast is further than the distance I can throw it. So to me it's little use."

“A crystal?” Altha perked up at the mention of the device and fished out her own necklace to display the light blue crystal, “I've got one that does something interesting too! I keep meaning to tinker with it more but it's not that easy to decipher. Do you know where you got yours?” If she could possibly find a source, she mind surmise a function...

She followed Kellog into the interior and began scrounging as well. Trying to avoid the more important-looking facets of the machine, she poked about for anything curious or unusual. Maybe the Priests left some Numenera behind?

Dreithik wrote:

We can make pretty good time with my Aneen if we see to his wounds – should be able to get three people on him, possibly four.” She looked up from her puttering, “That's a good idea, you know much about machines?”

She shifted her attention to fiddling with the machines again, trying to figure out the answer to the question Dreithik posed.

NUMENERA TRADING

The following is available:

• A level 7 cypher that looks like a pair of metal goggles (it needs a new strap). The wearer learns the level of whatever she looks at once they are activated. Activation lasts 1 hour.
• A level 6 cypher that looks a little like a glass wand with a copper tip. When activated, any one metal object level 6 or lower touched by the copper tip instantly disintegrates. The object can be up to the size of a human, but if it is larger, it does not work.
• A level 2 cypher that sprays out a thick viscous liquid. Within the liquid are incredibly fast-acting microscopic repair units that mend a break or tear in an object (or fuse two disparate objects held together).
• An oddity that resembles a toy doll made of synth, but the doll is of a creature that looks like nothing anyone’s seen before, with a large number of asymmetrical limbs, all different sizes, a long neck, and a four-eyed head.

I would love to hear your PCs take as to what these things are and why they are in the 'temple'...

MOVING AHEAD
The consensus seems to be to follow the trail of the priest. There still is no clear decision as to when (now or at night time). Unless I hear otherwise, I will just 'roll for it'.

I intend to move this along later today.

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

Before they left, Altha wandered back towards the group with a spherical container that sported a nozzle on end and a trigger on the other, a lump of fused synth, and a strange multi-limbed doll that looked more otherworldly than anything she'd encountered.

"I've found a few things," she began, holding up the sphere, "This thing looks like it could be useful... or at least sell well. It sticks things together from what I could see, or fixes them." The Nano held up the two lumps that she'd found near the sphere as demonstration. She knew better than to try an unknown Numenera inside, "We can test it outside once we leave. Maybe somebody was trying to fix this place?"

Then she held up the doll, if it could be called that, "And this. Pretty good condition and bizarre. I don't want it, but you know anybody else who might be interested in weird figures? Could possibly even melt it down... feels like synth." What one would do with so many limbs, she had no idea. Was it a mutant? A victim of a disease or disaster? If so, why would you commemorate it with a doll? She set it down beside a potted plant near the entrance.

"Anybody find anything else?"

How do we divide up loot? I kind of like the goggles or the spray for Altha. :3

In a big 'ol 'free-for-all'! :)

Anything is fine by me.

In my other games, things go usually to those who could make best use of them.

There's not a lot of permanent loot in these Numenera games as compared to other games (Pathfinder) so I don't think loot disparity will be an issue but I'll fix that if at any time you guys think differently.

Kellog returns the goggles to the shrine taking the wand I can see a number of uses for this

Kellog walks aside the aneen, slightly more accustomed to the heat than most and far more than Agia. The sun warmth giving still something that he turns toward.

---

Seeing the campsite and the guards Kellog becomes relieved. Ahh more fellow travelers, Perhaps they have seen the priests or know something of the nightmares

Unless someone stops him

The beam of Kellog's teeth appear as he hails the campers.

"Greetings fellow travelers in these desperate wastes. I am Kellog of Redstone and these are my recent companions. We have been traveling the wastes seeking our town's Aeon priests and wonder if you may have crossed their path"

Pleasant social interactions: 1d20 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 - 3 = 2

Rats, can't seem to get a good roll in this forumy thing

Realizing he may have moved too quickly, or said something stupid, Kellog stands his ground before the group.

An Resilient Nano who Wears a Sheen of Ice.

Action 1

Agia examined the doll that Altha had found. A strange offering indeed. Perhaps it was an effigy of the god that ruled this land? Certainly it's gaze seemed nefarious enough, given the extra eyes, and the strange and mismatched limbs reminded her of the snaking dunes. She shuddered at Altha's suggestion to melt it down.

Agia didn't want to take anything, but it was plain she was the only one who cared enough to give this effigy the protection it deserved. She snatched the doll. "I'll take this icon. It... um... appeals to me".

Carefully placing it in her satchel, she felt the power of all four of the eyes on her, both from the effigy and from the sky above. "You may be vengeful and evil, but I promise to protect your holy object while we cross your lands. Grant us protection on our quest, great and cruel watcher".

...

Agia suffered terribly during the trip, near delirious from the heat and in constant pain from the venomous wound she had received. Several times she fainted, only to be wrenched back to consciousness by the alien nightmares that were always lurking just out of sight. "By wind and sky, why did I ever leave sight of the Wall? Why didn't I head north to the mountains? Dodging mutie kissers and steadfast slavers would have been better than this forsaken place."

Occasionally she would sit bolt upright in the saddle, shouting out the name "Maltam!", before relaxing back into a stupor on the very edge of sleep, where she hallucinated about terrifying visages and multitudes of limbs sprawling across the desert to sweep up the party and trap them forever beneath the gaze of the sun. Finally, as the temperature began dropping and her venom induced fever broke, these outbursts subsided and she spent more time upright in the saddle.

Action 2

As Kelogg forged forward Agia attempted to call out a warning that the locals might not be friendly, but couldn't make her parched throat produce a sound. Dropping from the Aneen she took a few unstable steps, hissing in pain at the pins and needles in her legs from the long ride. After a swig of water her head was clearer, though it seemed like it would be a still be while before she could use her bitten arm.

Concerned for the big oaf's safety, she staggered up next to Kellog and prepared to back him up if the humanoids were as unfriendly as their tracks left by the scuffle near the dome implied. She didn't give much consideration to how scary she might look with her bulging, swollen sarm, bloodshot eyes and bloodstained cloak.

Agia performs a somewhat accidental intimidation action to back up Kellog. Even if the humanoids fail to respect Kellog's stumbling attempt at diplomacy, the unstable looking girl-thing might give them pause. Meant to be a complementary action with Kellog, since we both are trying to get them talking instead of provoking them to violence, but as Agia is not trained in intimidation I'm not sure that actually provides a bonus.

Intellect: 1d20 ⇒ 11

I don't think I know enough about this group to even speculate about possible results.

If it does come to fighting, could I change it so that the 'connection' I received from taking my focus means that I can extend my Ice armour to Kellog if I activate it within an immediate distance of him? Previously I was connected with Antar, but we never had a chance to actually activate or explore the ability.

The goggles had intrigued Altha in the same way her hat had initially attracted her attention and she hurried over to collect them from where Kellog had replaced them, shoving both the spray and the goggles into her bag with the intent to hand the spray off if someone else wanted it. Agia had taken that bizarre doll oddly enough and Altha couldn't quite figure out why, though she suspected it might be from the superstition she'd demonstrated earlier.

--

Altha had walked to the rear of the group, furthest away from Agia. They'd connected briefly before leaving and every once in a while, the woman's emotions would filter through the Nano's personal mental walls and it had given her a headache until she'd found some space.

Dreithik wrote:

When they'd stumbled across the new campers, and Kellog introduced himself only to have Agia fumble forward too, Altha groaned to herself and murmured to Dreithik to stay back, out of sight. Stepping up to the front of her companions as she let her empathic abilities wash over the assembled group, attempting to assess them and greet them in the tone appropriate to their moods.

“Evening friends. We mean no harm and please forgive my comrades' stumbling about – it's been a long day in the desert.” Altha smiled warmly, her mannerism and poise that of one used to dealing with strangers.

Only just got home, sorry! I've had a pretty busy agenda these last 2 days but everything should be back to normal now.

Action 1

Heeding Altha's advice, Dreithik hung a bit behind the more sturdy of the group, not fully healed from the last encounter. "Just what we needed, an army of abhumans on us after a sun scorched walk".

Seeing that Agia was on the verge of passing out from heat and exhaustion, he positioned himself behind her so that he may be able to back her up if things get (more) out of hand. I may not be much help this time, but I won't let her join the Ranks today!

I guess I just sort of bolster my defenses in case some overzealous goatman hurdles the line, or we get completely surrounded...

An Resilient Nano who Wears a Sheen of Ice.

Agia blinked in recognition at the familiar kind of goat-men that had long plagued her tribe on the plains of Matheunis. "Stone and bone! Is there nowhere on this earth safe from those savages? And the others were practically ready to greet them. Figures we'd get addled after travelling into the sun with no sleep all day."

"Only one thing to do". Once again, Agia reached down into her inner well of power. She had been tapping into it so much lately that she worried it might have run dry, especially with all the heat. Instead she felt the power flow forth more powerful than ever. So much so that between the recent fever and the ongoing sleep deprivation she found herself unable to even contain it, and the frost burst forth in a torrent. Almost instantly her protective layer was created, stealing water from her own tissues instead of the environment. She cried out in pain as the sudden change in osmotic pressure caused widespread cell death throughout her body.

But it was the weak, warmth craving parts of her that died. When she emerged from the trance, she found herself relatively unharmed and more in tune with her powers that ever. She realized she was now on her knees in a circle of frosted sand five feet wide. Remembering Kellog, she frantically glanced to her side and found him seemingly crystallized. She groaned softly,"No no no NO! I've gone and slagged the poor bastard! I didn't mean to, I swear it!"

Then Kellogg moved, obviously alive, and Agia's panic quickly turned to confusion.

Activating Ice Armour and Resonance Field, providing +1 armour and causing damage on high defense rolls. Cost is 2 intellect points, reduced to zero by intellect edge of 2 (Since the edge is new, I roleplayed an intensification of Agia's powers).

By being next to Agia when she activated her ice armour Kellog has also received ice armour which provides +1 Armour. Why Kellog is able to borrow her power this way is a complete mystery to Agia, as this kind of thing has never happened before (or at least, it never happened to anyone who survived).

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

How could she have missed the smell of rancid, rotting meat? The stench clogged her nostrils as the goatmen advanced, her silver tongue lost on the savages and she chided herself to being so oblivious – perhaps it was the walk in the sun and the lack of sleep the past few days. She'd had a near constant headache for the past few hours and the adrenaline rush as she reached for her powers did not help the tension ache any. The emotional backlash also weighed down her normally sharp mind, slowing her reaction time somewhat.

Behind her, something cold blasted out and she half turned on instinct, wondering what had happened only to find Agia had frosted herself and the newcomer. That really is a neat trick, she thought to herself.

Wearily, the Nano summoned her shields and smiled as they glittered to life around her, like a slick of oil on water. She thought she might use the spray but then decided, with the number of abhumans around, she decided flight might be the better choice for the fight. No sense in being surrounded and she could use her abilities from the air.

She reached up and tapped the rim of her hat. There was a low whine as the technology within activated and a pair of handles unfolded as the sound of a propeller wound up. Grasping the handles, she jumped to gain some height and let the hat carry her aloft, “I'll provide air support!” She wasn't much of a hand-to-hand fighter and she was still injured from earlier, bruised and dehydrated to boot.

The abhumans are a long distance away so you won't be able to attack this round.

Combat is done round by round so when you are a long distance away, melee just is not possible.

The doubt clogged her mind as she hovered above, wrestling with the desire to simply leave... she wasn't sure how much time she had with her hat before it burned out and she didn't want to get stranded.

The arrows arched through the air and she watched as one buried itself in Agia's thigh, the pain evident on the woman's face. That was enough to break her out of her weary indecision as she swallowed and shouted, “Maybe we should focus on the leader? Clear the path and kill the leader!” Would the group disperse without the head of the group?

Without waiting for a response, she cut into the mind of the nearest savage to her, locking eyes with the goatman. A thin beam of light seemed to shimmer in the air between them as energy visibly manifested to scorch the Goatman.

Attack Goatman at V47 with Physical Onslaught, 1 Int cost. 1 Level of Effort applied for extra damage, costing 1 Int. 2 Int total, 7 Damage if it hits.

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

Forgot to add the Success/Fail portion to my previous post

Success:
She felt the heat sear across the goatman, the slight changes in her gaze directing the beam and was surprised. Her powers hadn't manifested quite so visibly before... had something changed in the recent past? If it had, it provided one more alternative with which to handle these creatures!

Failure:
The light was intense but fizzled out almost immediately, doing nothing causing the goatman to blink and dismiss the solid light that had danced across his vision.

The pain from Agia's leg injury was intense, but the surrounding ice quickly numbed it. "That's what I get for standing still in a fight. Kellog seems fine, so we'll worry about what happened later"

Agia was more than a little weirded out by the woman somehow flying through the air like a drakka, but she couldn't deny that her plan had wisdom. "Smart! Margr are cowards underneath all that stink. Let's show their boss what we're made of!"

Instinctively reaching for her knife, Agia winced as pain shot through her swollen arm. "I won't be shanking anyone in this condition, but we can't afford to fight with anything less than our all. Onwards, for better or worse."

Screaming wildly, she ran at the approaching wave of goat-men, pouring her mental energy into strengthening her protective sheen.

I move a short distance towards the approaching Margr, relying on heh fact that targets doing nothing but move are 1 step more difficult to hit. I'd also like to begin using effort on defense rolls. With an intellect edge of 2, each use will take 1 Intellect point. So If I've remembered everything, each time I'm attacked this round I'll lose one step from exhaustion, gain one for mobility and another for effort, for a total of 1 step in my favour but an automatic loss of 1 intellect per defense.

Dreithik? Kellog?

I'd like to recap tomorrow morning...

Action 1

Dreithik fired off a decaying Onslaught at a Goatman to the left U-40, But continued to stayed behind the more capable, knowing that his time would likely come if he went forward.Almost get killed by a bug, just to die to a pack of Abgoat-humans. What a tale you're leaving behind!
4 physical damage on hit
Onslaught: 1d20 ⇒ 4

regardless of outcome: He then yelled to the front line "I think we're going to need a better plan to charge in to challenge the large specimen, They can surround us any moment!

Turn 035 is up.

Read the OOC.

Questions, comments, and/or suggestions?

Game on!

rolls:

Altha onslaught, exhausted, effort for damage, D 3 (9): 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 2, fail
Kellog crossbow at leader, exhausted D 5 (15): 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 2, fail

Agia speed defense, tired, effort, D 3 (9): 1d20 - 3 + 3 ⇒ (3) - 3 + 3 = 3, fail
Altha speed defense, tired, D 3 (9): 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (17) - 3 = 14, pass
Dreithik speed defense, tired, D 3 (9): 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (16) - 3 = 13, pass
Kellog speed defense, tired, trained, D 3 (9): 1d20 - 3 + 3 ⇒ (17) - 3 + 3 = 17, pass

Agia's charge was slowed by the second blow. Glancing around, she found herself separated from her allies. While she was confident in her ability to assist in the assault on the chief she was in no shape to go rushing in on her own.

Still, this wasn't the time to retreat. Margrs chase even better than they fight, and Agia wasn't about to give them the satisfaction of hunting her down like a wounded umlan. Instead, she focused on dodging the blows of the closest assailants. "Maybe if I can hold out long enough the big guy will come to me. They do love the smell of blood, and I'm leakin' plenty, haha. Ow...".

Focusing on defense as an action and using intellect effort on defense. With exhaustion, this means all defense rolls are one step in my favour, but each defense costs 1 intellect point.

Good luck fighting those nasty abhumans! I've been enjoying reading along, hope that our paths cross soon in the ninth world.

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

The battle was moving quickly and the creatures were fanning out to surround them, something Dreithik called out his concern for as Agia took another arrow. This was not looking good!

"Put your backs together and fight through, I'll cover you from the air. If you can push some together, I can try the spray I found!" She shouted at the others, concentrating as she focused light into another physical blast at the Margr in front of her.

"What are these things? They're more gross than the bugs!" She complained, the stench rising to engulf her despite the down wash of air from her hat. They were so morbid!

Attack Margr at X45, Physical Onslaught, 1 Level (+3 Damage), 7 Damage if it hits. 2 Int Points.

Success:
Again a physical beam of light swept across her target, this time searing the flesh like a laser, leaving smoking, sizzling flesh behind. "Do these things cannibalize? If we injure one, will they fall upon it?" The heads and things hanging from the crude clothing implied they ate anything... did that include their fellow?

Failure:
She was being as effective as shining a flashlight in someone's eye - irritating but not damaging - and she knew it. Her frustration was beginning to peak as she hovered above the enemies, trying to figure out a way to maneouver the leader into a position they could take him down in.

I'll get you in the game when this combat is over.

Yet another desert walker strains even my 'very relaxed' sense of immersion for this game.

Feel free to post about anything and everything. There were even some OOC questions about the setting and/or rules I've posted throughout the thread that you could answer if you feel like it. We don't censor here. :)

@ATXRedBeard: Welcome! Good to see the player ranks filling back up again.

@Fabian: After suffering for hours from debilitating poison and having Agia rush into a battle despite being essentially unable to use her arm I have finally clued into the fact that one of the cyphers I took from the lab is actually a potion of resist poison. Can I use it to suppress the symptoms for the fight (possibly through another might roll), or would I have needed to take it back when I first got poisoned, if not sooner? If it would be effective, I'd rather have Agia inject herself with it for her action instead of defending.

Seeing a Margr on either side, Dreithik tried to focus one of them down. He shot another onslaught, of the mind this time, to the Margr on the left Column AA.

2 Mental damage on hit.
Onslaught: 1d20 ⇒ 5

After firing the shot, he fought his way over until he was side-by-side with Kellog, and called to him."They may have strength in numbers, but if we stick together we may yet have an advantage". He then gave distressing look over in Agia's direction where she is currently fighting 3 of them plus the Chief fairly soon."We should make our way over to Agia before the Chief cuts us off!"

Glad to be at full group capacity again!

Yes, you can use your action for this turn to inject yourself. It will erase any poison damage.

@everyone: look to see how you use your cyphers if at all possible. This could turn real ugly ...

A Honorable Glaive who Defends the Weak

Sorry for the delay life issues.

Yes my armor is 4 because of warding shield from Defends the Weak Character Options 56 (as long as I have a shield up)
Now that the bad guys are close and personal Kellog throws back his crossbow and draws his sword.

He steps before Agia and swings when the Margr closes trying to pull it's attention exclusively on him.

I attack the first that gets close to Agia.

Spending 1 might to goad if he hits

broad sword attack fatigued: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (7) - 3 = 4

The shadows of his nightmares emerge against him all he sees is many upon him, His swings are just not landing.

You are correct. Thanks for clearing that up.

sorry! new to the format, thanks for letting me know how to participate before introducing my character. I have been posting with this alias rather than my character alias so that you can let me know when/how to introduce my actual character. I have been reading through the posts & recap - also looking for general PBP etiquette, let me know if you have any links for the latter that you would recommend. I'll keep reading through the log.

NEW PC INTRODUCTION

I have a few ideas about that but they all have to wait until this fight is over.

I'll also seek input from current players as to how they want to approach the next part of the campaign and that will influence how you will join.

POSTING
There are a couple of guides in the Online Campaigns General Discussion area of this site that are helpful.

However, since I recap posts in my games, some of those things become irrelevant.

I think the most important advice is to make sure your intent is clear when you post. Ask questions when you are not sure. I need to be able to tell the difference between in character and out of character posts.

Other than that, just have fun. Be proactive, don't wait until the last minute to post, let me know when you'll be out, and involve others (PCs and NPCs) in your posts.

Just some common sense stuff.
