Action 1

"Maybe they didn't leave per-say, maybe they were taken... Those Nobles from the Inn (tavern?) seemed pretty pleased with all this going on, not concerned at all. If they found out that the Priests found a way to stop what ever is happening here, they might have done something about it.. but that doesn't answer the question how.. that Journal must have an answer or two.."

Driven by his need for knowledge, he passed all the trinkets and headed straight for the top level.

Action 2

"So they left in the dead of night for some dome? Well considering how long it has been since that last entry, I'd say that the problem must have indeed been there." he looked around, the weight of all that has happened coming down on him all once. "I agree with Agia, we need to show the guard the Journal, and tell her to keep it underwraps until we return with the Priests, or what is left of them."

He took a deep breath. "I think we should leave tonight. The sooner we sort this out, the sooner we can get out of this place. Even if the Priests are dead, we will find out what happened.." It's been so long since I've spoken to one of the Ranks...

If time would allow it, I think we should rest and recover some of our pools. If we can't, just keep on trucking.

Past my bedtime here; I'll move this along tomorrow.

"At least they didn't go rogue." Jetto idly lifted the canned veggies and rolled them between his hands. Setting one down in the light as he received the powder Agia handed him.

"Yea, lets secure a guide or at least a look at a map then head out this evening. After a respite" His eyes fell onto the guard. "When will she wake up Dreithik, she will wake up won't she? Does she ever get what you took back?"

Whats the status of the guard.... I mean she got a spear pretty hard?

male

The guard is awake, bound, gagged, and being watched by Antar.

You can take time to recover before heading out. Just let me know who wants to make recovery rolls and how many.

What about Deymish? Will you let him know what you going to do?

So, I'll assume you will head out this night then?

This would mean that I take the Disease Resistance injector and the sleep liquid and give Jetto the speed powder. Anyone can object to my distribution, but I think Jetto and me are the only ones with extra cypher space right now and nothing seems so class-centric that one of us has a greater need than the others. If we need these things we'll end up using them on whoever needs it most anyways.

This is something I wanted to point out. The game really encourages the use of cyphers so don't be stingy. :)

Will you be looting the control panel?

Action 1

If it's not too late, I think we wanted to try and use the book to actually get the guardswoman on our side. However, if needed her guarded is just an excuse to have Antar take a passive role, don't worry about it.

She rudely shoved the final entry of the journal into the bound woman's face. "Read it, and know that we were justified. Your precious priests have wandered off and likely gotten themselves in a heap of trouble, and all your fussing just delayed their rescue. We're going after them, but the people here need to think the priests are still at it. Can you play along for at least a day?"

Persuasion roll, using journal page as asset and applying effort. Total intellect cost is 2, after Edge.

Success:
Hanatiah was distraught, but her initial reaction was positive enough that the group felt comfortable untying her. Antar stayed to keep her under a watchful eye, but the party was confident that they had another ally helping to keep the peace while they were gone.

Failure:
Hanatiah only struggled further in impotent rage. Disgusted, Agia spat on the ground and stalked away, unable to look at the uncooperative wretch any longer.

...
Agreed that we need a rest. We'll do at least ten minutes to make sure Jetto can recover. I'll see how well I do on my one round recovery and see if I need my second one too.

It wouldn't do to make a long journey with a untreated wound. After finding a private space Agia peeled back the bloodsoaked part of her clothing and checked the cut.

1 round Recovery: 1d6 ⇒ 2
2 points restored to might, total 9/11

Thankfully it wasn't deep, and the guardswoman kept a clean weapon. It should be cleaned before they carried onwards, however. Agia winced as she rinsed the injury with salt water to ward off infection, then applied a fresh piece of cloth to keep further dirt from getting in.

Ten minute Recovery: 1d6 ⇒ 2
2 points restored to might, total 11/11

Feeling refreshed, Agia set off to rejoin the others.

I'm fine leaving the panel how it is for now and seeing if we can use up some of the cyphers we have. I'll get to action 2 tomorrow morning.

Where exactly are we making these final preperations?

Wherever you want. In town somewhere, in the tower, other? Just set up a scene or just let me know about it.

We can go back and deal with the guard as Agia stated.

Remember that I make some assumptions for the sake of moving things along if I don't clear instructions from you guys but we can always 'fix things', especially if I leave a break in the narrative with an 'Actions?'.

BTW, the recovery rolls are 1d6+tier.

Perception roll, -1 difficulty level due to training in noncombat visual tasks.
Intellect: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

As they approached the dome, Agia flung out her hands to stop her companions. She surveyed the area with the eyes of an expert tracker, circling around to avoid disturbing the trail. She picked up a shredded piece of fabric and sniffed it, detecting the faint odours of chemicals and numenera reminiscent of the lab.

"This is from the priests, alright. They walked the same trail as we did, but when they got here they got into trouble. A large group came from the east, possibly with a herd? Scratch that, it was mounts, the formation is too clean for a herd. They left westward. It seems likely that they took the priests with them.

Stopping short near a section of the churned drit, Agia paused.

"Now this is a bit weird. Somebody etched some symbols all around this area. Do ya figure the priests were trying to leave a message, maybe? Or it could be the other group, warding off evil or thanking their gods. Why don't you guys have a look at this?"

"We should probably give the dome a solid once over while we're here, but after that we should follow these tracks. Those people will either have the priests or know where we can find them."

Not able to hold it back any longer, she yawned widely. "This day just keeps getting longer."

The only thing I'm not sure about is rolling - I've poked around at the Discussion area where the play's taking place but I don't see any actual rolls, just recording of results. I'm assuming that's what the dice tag looks like in use, am I correct?

And I'm really glad it's more about the story. The few other table top RPGs I've encountered have been sullied by GMs that like killing PCs. =3

Feel free to take a look and give feedback if necessary!

Ok, I see no red flags from a quick look at your PC sheet; I'll take a closer look tonight and let you know if I find anything.

The only thing I would consider is the 'erase memories' esotery since we already have a nano (Dreithik) with that particular esotery. It's up to you of course but I think it would be redundant and not used that often so I would select another one.

I'll also roll for your cyphers/oddities later as well.

The dice is rolled by the 'script' that is shown when you click 'how to format your text'. If you know the difficulty that you have to beat and you are NOT sing effort on your roll, you may roll the dice, preview the results and post accordingly. If not, then tell me what to roll, provide a 'success' and 'failure' post and I'll roll for you and describe the results in the turn recap.

If you are ready to start playing, I have an idea to introduce you in the very next turn.

Welcome aboard! (other children, be nice) :)

Do you feel like writing your own intro scene? This could anywhere from a couple of paragraphs to however long you want to write. We don't limit people's creativity here. :)

If so, I can give you some guidelines and let you write it. You then send it to me via PM, and I'll insert it in tomorrow's turn recap.

But sometimes it's good to jump into the deep end of the pool. :)

Action 1

Attempting to tred lightly on the subject seemingly useless, Dreithik answered Jetto's concern. "Can somebody get something back if they never know they lost it? What I took from her is forever etched into my mind, she will wake up as if from a dream of darkness. Only seeing the light now that it's finished... It also didn't help that Agia knocked her out cold after the fact, but nothing we can do about that now. There shouldn't be any lasting side effects, it was only 5 minutes."

He brushed his hood back and rubbed his eyes. "We should head out before we think of something better to do than charge into the fray head first.."

I think Altha should hop on at Action 2, like meet us at the dome or something? I'll wait for a response before continuing.

success:
Jetto returned to the group lugging a new back pack full of water and and hefting a new layer of chainmail.

failure:
frustrated Jetto tries again offering his anchor stone up with the armor as well.

Getting back to the tavern Jetto hangs his equipment on a chair next to himself and gets a meal.
Taking a rest he contemplates the situation up to now, Jetto feels slightly better physically, but more worried the more he thought about it.
recovery: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
He shakes off the stiffness returning the speed to his limbs.

Looking up he sees the others clearly they were ready too. Hefting the pack he got ready to go. As we leave Jetto turns to Agia, "did you ever take apart that panel? I mean we are pursuing and probably rescuing them, it seems appropriate we should collect an advance, doesn't it?"

Action Two:

leaning down Jetto inspected the mounts tracks looking to identify the creature Tracking: 1d20 ⇒ 13 trained
Jetto, recognizing the tracks, It told him a great deal about the raiders, Asses Danger: 1d20 ⇒ 5 trained but he kept this quite unsure of its accuracy. were these raiders and the meeting was chance? Why did the priests come to this space?
He asked the rest of the group to stand back and away and looked over the zone of struggle he could see if the priests were taken alive. He pointed out the runic markings around the perimeter and asked the others if they recognized the runes.

Action 1: Round 1

Pulling his eyes away from the dome, Dreithik looked to the direction of the calls. "Was wondering how long it would take, it's been hours since there was someone trying to kill us." His eyes narrowed and he pulled up his mask."And there's survivors leading it them to us" Is it even worth it still to hide from the living?.. best not to chance it, only my blade sees action..

Round 2

Dreithik looked at the woman and her wounded mount. "I certainly hope you fight better than you run, Girl." His forearm blade at the ready, he waited for the bloodshed to initiate.

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

Action 1 – 200ft away
Altha's mount stumbled to a stop, hip-checking the tower as it groaned and huffed, head lolling in fear as she slid off the mount. The aneen turned, it's back against the wall and its attention focused on the approach of the predators. Spittle clung to its jaw as it panted, tiny arms flailing uselessly as it shifted from foot to foot, tail lashing. It wasn't much of a combatant but it also wasn't going to die without a fight.

“Hope you guys like bug-lizards!” She called, her expression apologetic as she pulled her whip out, “These things move weirdly, like they read your minds. Buggered the aneen.” Introductions would come later... for now, she just wanted to make sure they didn't get caught unawares. She grasped the crystal at her throat, activating the strange device. Couldn't hurt to make sure they stayed tangible could it?

The crystal seemed to come alive in her hand, a bright light growing from within to peak with a flash that arced out and dissipated quickly, as if a perimeter were being defined. There was no visible shield but it left Altha's skin tingling as it something was keeping her centered on the ground. It was an odd sensation but not terribly unpleasant. She only hoped the crystal wouldn't break – it would make a good bartering chip. I really hope this helps more than it hurts... she thought, I need to remember to tinker with this more...
Activate Teleport Seal (Level 5)

Action 2 – 100ft away
After the crystal's glow faded, Altha drew her whip and snapped it in a great arc. The weapon didn't look particularly deadly but the narrow tip slashed neatly through the air, biting into a rock and cracking it. “I'd rather they not take down my aneen, he was expensive and he's actually quite good natured.” She smiled at the fearful mount, but didn't promise it anything. She'd rather save it, if truth be told, but she had no reason to believe the folks she'd stumbled into would do anything other than save their own skin (and in the process, make it easier to survive this dance).

Whip in one hand, she stepped before the aneen and glanced at the others, “There's at least two of them. Nasty buggers. Sorry!” She shrugged her shoulders, her expression earnestly apologetic. She frowned at the man who addressed her, “I can certainly fight better than I run. It's not my fault the aneen's slow! And don't call me girl. I'm no child.” She waggled her whip at the man.

Drew Whip and readied weapon.

Round 1

Straining her eyes in the dim morning light, Agia tried to make out the details of the jumping shapes kicking up the cloud of dust across the plain.

Nature knowledge roll to determine facts about enemies
Intellect: 1d20 ⇒ 9

"Weird buggers, that's for sure. Smart enough to work together by the looks of it, so I guess we'd better do the same."

Round 2

The desert air was almost entirely lacking in moisture of any kind, but Agia had anticipated this. Discarding her heavy cloak, she pulled out an extra canteen she had brought for this explicit purpose and upended it upon herself. The water struck her skin and froze instantly as she channeled her inner frost, with the excess liquid flowing until it formed a unified sheen. Reaching ever deeper into her inner well of power, Agia grew the rough edges of her armour out into a series of sharp crystals.

Drawing her rough-hewn stronglass knife, she stepped up beside the newcomer and waited for the creatures to close the distance.

Activated Ice Armour (no action) and Resonance Field (action). Total cost is 1 intellect after Edge. Armour increases to 1, minor and major effects cause damage on defense.

I had previously discussed replacing Onslaught with Resonance Field as better fitting my character. I've decided to do so for sure. Resonance Field means that I can make defense rolls with intellect (large irrelevant at this stage unless I'm using effort) and rolling a 19 on defense causes 1 damage to the attack and a 20 causes 4 damage. Thematically, I'd like to consider Resonance Field as being an empowered, spikier version of her ice armour rather than the 'glowing lines' laid out in the ability's description.

Not a problem with the change of powers and I like the description.

Remember that one of the strengths of this system is the 'reskinning' of 'everything'. While other systems allow it, this one encourages this so an onslaught from one nano looks nothing like an onslaught from another nano.

Action 1
Altha nodded to her peers as they stepped up. One, a woman, seemed to be covered in ice. Before her eyes the sheen thickened into spikes. She blinked and leaned over to peer at the woman curiously, “That's neat! You'll have to show me what you use to do that. Must be useful in the heat!” The defensive implications reminded her that she should probably prepare as well and grinned as she turned back to the incoming creatures.

Drawing on her inner well of power, she manifested her own defenses. There was a shimmering in the air, like oil on water, that spread down her body to surround her in a multicoloured shimmer only half visible in the light. If anyone stepped close to her, they would feel an emotional weight settle on them, a wall of unfeeling that, if pushed against would push back mentally, emphasizing doubts and fears, curling in the dark corners of their mind, distracting and sometimes even inflicting wounds to those with nefarious intent.

Cast Resonance Field ; 1 – Edge = 0 Int points

An Resilient Nano who Wears a Sheen of Ice.

Striding sideways while never taking her eyes off the predators, Agia put herself between the incoming pack and the wounded aneen. "No free meals tonight, buzzers! I'm gonna make you earn it!"

Her fingers twitched and her eyes danced from target to target. Her knife wouldn't do much to those hides, but all she had to do was drive them off. "No hope of them leaving if they get their teeth into that aneen... she reflected, "keeping 'em back is priority one"

Agia stands guard, giving her a 1 level bonus on any defense rolls and allowing her to make a speed roll with a 1 level bonus to block any of the creatures who tries to get past her to the aneen (corebook page 103).

Agia sat dumbfounded for a moment. The tachyron she blocked had anticipated her, bunching itself up so that it could easily spring free soon after she grabbed it. "Did that crackin' bug just let me grab it? Why? Did it... know it wasn't going to get past?" she reflected, "Something's off. Tumblin' and rumblin' alone ain't gonna beat these buzzers. We need to slow 'em down."

Reaching into her pouch, she dug out a piece of dried meat and stuck it in her mouth to begin softening it up. As she chewed, she felt around for the sleeping serum she had picked up back at the lab and popped the stopper. Spitting the meat into her chilling palms, she poured the dark liquid onto the meat. There wasn't time to let the liquid seep in, so she leaned forward and gently blew frosty breath on the whole mess.

Use of Hedge Magic to "Prepare Food" laced with sleeping serum with the intention of tricking one of the Tachyrons into eating it next round (as a separate action). Cost is 0 Intellect after Edge.

Intellect: 1d20 ⇒ 1

If the crafting action of "freezing medicine onto meat" is a difficulty 0 task, perfect. If it's difficulty 1 and you're feeling extremely generous, you could consider my training in non-combat tasks involving snow and ice to also extend to making meatsicles. In any case, a possible intrusion for rolling the 1 would be for the tasty meat treat to freeze to Agia's hand so that she needs to either deactivate her defensive esoteries or offer her hand along with it.

Success:
The liquid instantly cooled into a thick frozen topping. "I guess dinner's on me after all!"

Gary, flying high to stay away from the battle but always interested in any mention of dinner, flew down to investigate. Agia waved the drakka off, "Not you, bug-butt!".

Failure:
However, she dipped too far into her power and the laced meat was quickly reduced to a freezer burnt, nigh-inedible mess.

I'm also not sure if we had to explicitly state that we were bringing supplies like travel food when going on a days long trek into the desert. I guess that could have fallen under "other" preparations" back in town, though it seems like a foolish thing to forget. If the action is invalid, we can just have Agia try to tackle one of the beasts and fail hilariously with an identical roll.

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

Action
Altha grunted as the Tachryons hit them. One sliced through her, close enough she could poke it in the eye... which, given the depth the wound it just inflicted, she figured wouldn't be terribly useful. "Damned bugger!" She instinctively reached out to pierce the mind of the creature, disorient it, scramble its senses.
Attack is Mindslice with a level of effort applied. 1 Int point - 1 Edge = 0 + (3 effort - 1 edge) = 2 Int points spent. I'm hoping Altha's Empathy and prior experience escaping the Tachyrons are assets. 2 Damage if it hits.

Intellect (Mindslice): 1d20 ⇒ 2

Success:
Her awareness lanced through its mindscape, disrupting its mental processing for a brief moment, causing it to stumble. Terrible fear permeated its senses, spreading like a shadow to chill down its spine before dissipating.

Failure:
Her mind bounced off the primal nature of the beast, unable to find a hold as yet, leaving her frustrated as she felt along the surface of its awareness, looking for any weakness as she spun away, hopefully out of claws' reach.

Behind her, the aneen bucked and keened, terrified.
Also thinking the Aneen could attack too. Any cornered, stressed out animal will lash out. Could be helpful?

Fabian, I don't know if this factored into the defense prior, but Resonance Field means Altha can use Int for defense rolls. Hopefully I didn't misunderstand the ability.

@Agia:
I assume normal stuff like bringing food for a trip would be done by experienced adventures such as yourselves so no worries there.

Regarding your roll, I think it still counts as 'intrusion material'. If you would have said, it's an automatic success action and not rolled then that would have been OK but since you rolled...

Let me think on that '1' you rolled and see what I do there.

Don't worry because I'm feeling guilty because I think the lizard-bugs I chose for this encounter may be too hard for this group so I won't be too mean. :)

Uhm, did Agia lean too far forward and accidentally sampled the serum...

@Altha:
I think you subtract edge only one time per roll so it would still cost 3 points if you use effort with the mindslice. Also, I will do the rolling in any roll in which you use effort so your '2' doesn't count, which is good for you. :)

We'll have the aneen cower for now.

Also using int defense rolls vs using speed defense rolls is the same thing UNLESS you are using effort on those rolls (your effort could be offset by edge and goes to a different pool). But let me remind you that I actually roll your defense rolls when I do the turn recap so if you want me to use effort, you have to tell me. Default is that I do not use effort on defense rolls unless the negative result will take you down the damage track.

Questions?

Oh! My bad! Although, it's probably for the best haha!

On page 20/21 in the Edge section of the corebook, it says "When something requires you to spend points from a stat Pool, your Edge for that stat reduces the cost. It also reduces the cost applying Effort to a roll." I read that as applying to both. =3

And I'll keep that in mind for the future RE: Defense.

Clever Jack that Hunts with Great Skill

The Tachyron launched itself past Jetto its whip like tail lashed out and caught him across the his thigh. Devils

Jetto, using his shield, body checked the next incoming tachyron attempting to throw it to the ground, he really threw his shoulder behind the blow thinking about the rest of the pack moving past him.

use another effort im not sure might or speed??

So what exactly are you trying to do here? Throw it off balance so it will lose its attack? other?

Turn 025 is up.

Read the OOC.

Questions, comments, and/or suggestions?

Game on!

rolls:

Jetto knock it off balance, trained, effort, D 6 (18): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14, fail
Altha mindslice, effort D 4 (12): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16, pass
keep fighting if <50: 1d100 ⇒ 89, runs away
Agia speed defense Tachyron 1, D 6 (18): 1d20 ⇒ 4, fail
Dreithik speed defense Tachyron 3, D 6 (18): 1d20 ⇒ 17, fail
Jetto speed defense Tachyron 4, trained, D 6 (18): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12, fail

Been pretty busy, cracking down my turn right now.

Round 5

Snapping out of his daze as the teeth sunk into his side, Dreithik let out a cry and coughed up some blood. "Damnit! Gods Damned bugs!"

He grabs his Matter Converter pill and attempts to shove it down the bugs throat and it is latched to his side.

I do not know what the roll would be, but I would like to use effort for it.

Success:

The pill is swallowed and almost immediately, the bug is converted from carapace into solid synth, leaving it too rigid to move.

Not typing a failure because failure is not an option, haha.

An Resilient Nano who Wears a Sheen of Ice.

Agia ruefully stuck the disgusting meatsicle in her bag. "No animal is going to be tempted by that, but maybe one of us can choke it down later if we need to", she thought.

Turning back to her aggressor, she snarled back at it and dove, arms spread wide.

Trying to grab hold of the Tachyron and restrict its movement, making it easier for others to hit. Using effort.

Success:
The creature almost made it out of the way, but Agia managed to grab a hold of it's tail and her fingers caught in a crevice of the Chitin. "Ha! Got you now!" she bellowed. She quickly realized, however, that she was stuck with the Tachyron as much as it was stuck with her.

Failure:
Once again, the creature seemed to anticipate her move and was well out of the way, leaving Agia to eat a faceful of drit. Sputtering, she roared "Now I'm getting angry!"

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

She grinned as the Tachryon turned tail and ran, though the grin eased as the emotional feedback hit her and an echo of its fear reminded her of her sensitivities. “Please, don't come back,” she murmured turning as the frozen figure beside her cried out and tried to jump on the beast. She'll just get eaten that way, she thought as she shouted loud enough to, hopefully, be heard “Attack their minds, not just their bodies if you can!” She was too far to help the cloaked person right now... Maybe if she could

Freed from her attacker, permanently she hoped, Altha flung a hand out as if throwing something, this time reaching for the mind of the Tachyron Agia was trying to subdue. There was more force in it this time, a surge of confidence she still rode from rebuffing the other Tachryon.

Success:
Again, her empathic intuition lead her to echo the fears of the Tachyron, and again her Mindslice turned them upon the beast. She was cold and calculating in her disruption, merciless as her awareness crackled along its brain, short-circuiting and damaging whatever she could.

Failure:
The confidence lead to sloppy effort and she miscalculated the impact. Fear shot through the creature but it was more akin to that of an adrenaline junkie's high than the debilitating terror she'd intended.

Attack with Mindslice again, with effort. 2 Int total spent (or 3? not sure on the resolution regarding Edge effects). Empathy and prior experience remain assets. Maybe Agia's restriction as an additional asset too? 2 Damage if hits.

Edge is only used per roll so using onslaught (1 INT) with effort (3 points) with EDGE =1 costs a total of 3 points.

Why/how are you considering that empathy and prior experience is an asset?

And I'm not asking just to be an ass, I'm trying to learn here. :)

On that note, we all seem to want to do 'cool stuff' (grab a tachyron by the tail, shove a pill down its throat, etc.) and I think the creativity is great, part of the benefits for this game. All I'm using so far is the creature's difficulty rating to figure out a number to beat. So in this instance, the tachyrons attack/defend physical stuff as level 6 so target number of 18.

Am I doing this right? I thought I read somewhere that to do certain things, you trade damage for it. For example to knock back or knock prone, you would have to do damage and 'trade' that damage for the effect.

Do any of you remember any of this?

I obviously need to go back and read some things. :)

Ok, read some of that and it needs changing.

You basically trade damage for effects by adding the level of the creature to the table below:

Damage Reduction Effect
1 Hinder/Distract
2 Specific body part
3 Knock back
3 Move past
3 Strike held object
4 Knock down
7 Disarm
7 Impair
8 Stun

So to disarm a level 5 creature, you would need to trade 12 (5+7) points of damage when the creature may only have 15 health to begin with. Not that easy to score 12 points of damage unless you're a glaive attacking with a heavy weapon...

How about you take negative assets (or assets to the defender) to do stuff like:

Assett Effect
1 Hinder/Distract, or Specific body part or Knock back or Move past
2 Strike held object or Knock down or Disarm
3 Impair or Stun

So now to disarm a level 5 creature you would need to hit it as if it were a level 7 (5+2) creature?

I guess the table of effects and how much they cost is debatable but tat least this gives a jack attacking with a rapier a chance to disarm someone.

Thoughts?

I only considered them assets because you didn't say they wouldn't be, actually. Again, apologies. Feel free to ignore things like that if they don't apply (but I'd like to know if they don't). =3 It's me trying to think of things that would be advantageous for the combat and might apply as assets that reduce the difficulty.

The prior experience I considered an asset since there's 4 of them and she didn't die in the immediate combat where it was 1 vs 4. So perhaps, due to the briefness of the contact, it's not enough exposure to be considered an asset - that's your call. =3

The empathy would be an asset in that she knows the general 'type' of mind attack for them. Again, she's still only Tier 1 so it might not be an asset until later. Unless I roll a skill check to establish the empathic sensitivity? Whatever works!

And, provided the tail gets grabbed, I thought the distraction would be advantageous to Altha given the stated reason for the grab is to slow it down for other attacks.

As for trading effort for effects... I remember reading that you can trade a level of effort for 3 pts damage per lvl of effort. The bit about trading damage rings a bell but I couldn't find it in the corebook. I didn't reread everything though.

Edit: That affects table works for me. :3
