Nightflier's Midnight Game Thread

Game Master nightflier

Set in the grim world of Aryth, Nightflier's Midnight is a game that speaks of almost futile hope that shines against the darkness.

Solvistania murmers to Chops, "We need to hurry then, the demon must have summoned them.". She casts 2 Cure Minor wounds on herself, to bring her back to full HP.

"Hey Muni, or um spirits, can you guys pick him up and carry him along? If not I can get him but it might slow our pace slightly." He then kneels next to Ragnar. As for you big guy, try to relax while you can.

He looks to Anang and the rest. Solvi speaks true, if we don't want to fight the demon and those guys we must make haste. He waits for atleast one other to confirm.

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

Ilona strides across the battlefield a vision of elegant fury. With a single flick of her wrist, black blood flies off the ebony blade, sliver fang glistening in the dying light.

Her eyes are focused upon Ragnar, appraising, seeking any sign of injury. Relief flickers across her face for a moment and turns to focus.

As she comes to stand near her beta wolf she nods to Kiron, an acknowledgement and a thank you.

"That was a weak attempt to get us to back off. That bastard is terrified. He can smell death coming and for what may be the first time ever, it knows that its going to lose."

She lets her gaze take in every memeber of her pack,"Let's not dissappoint it."

Felina scmapers down from her perch ,and scurries next to Solvistania,

Ilona

Spoiler:
Purrr...yes...that is the hunter I felt earlier, time to hunt it now...purrr.

Chops lays a hand on her shoulder, a look of concern in his bestial features. You okay. Then she casts her spell and he shrugs his shoulders. "Hmm. Still not used to magic. That's cool....Yeah, we need to get moving, but what about the big guy here?" He says as he casts a thumb in the Dorn's direction.

Solvistania hurries over to Ragnar's prone form, and quickly looks him over, Heal check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22. She turns to Kiron, saying "I believe he will be OK, but we cannot wait here for him to recover, can you carry him, Kiron?"

Male Orc, Tribe Moon mother, convert: White Mother Sect 3/wildlander

Kiron Grins sheepishly. I was trying to get his spirit friends to do the lifting but yeah, doesn't seem to be doing the trick.Ifd you are sure its ok to move him then yeah. Kiron lifts the heavy dorn as if he is no more than a child and places him over one shoulder like a bag of grain. he glances once more to ensure that all of his belongings are in place and nods. Lets move then. Kiron takes off into the wood following Muni as they go.

male Dorn Barbarian 2, Spiritual Channeler 2

As Kiron begins to lift him, Ragnar seems to snap out of his trance. For a moment he tenses and seems ready to explode into violence, then relaxes and seems to listent to someting for a moment.

"I...I am alright. Thank you." He blinks and shakes his head. "I am not sure what happened. My spell somehow connected my life-force with it's for a moment, I think. It was...unpleasant."

He rights himself and looks around at everyone, taking in thier wounds and thier labored breathing. "It has been a very long time since I was the one in need of watching over. I have scyld to you all"

For those who speak Norther

Spoiler:
Scyld is a kind of karmic debt. Comrades in arms who save each others lives never incur such things, but watching over the helpless indebts the helpless to their protector. (this is just one example of a very broad and important concept in Dornish culture.)

After the terrible fight and arduous track you arrive at the cave entrance that Muni described. The earth in front of it is churned and the treas are broken and upturned. There is a trail of black slime leading into the cave. Night is falling. True dark is minutes away and you are weary from your track. Fort save DC 15 or Fatigued.

Forgot to mention that Sorok, Ragnar and Pebble do not have to roll.

Fort save1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Had to happen eventually, and makes sense really

Fort 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

"Whew! Boy am I tired."

Female Erenlander Spiritual Chaneller 5

Fort save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Having run almost all the way to keep up with her long-legged companions, Gilian slowly catches her breath."I'm so tired I could sleep all night. But we need to get to that demon. If someone needs it, I can fortify him before going in. But only one of you."

In game terms, Gilian can cast one lesser restoration to remove someone's fatigue.

Male Black Blood Dwarf Fighter 5

"We'll get that demon before the night is out. Though I'll say Chops seems like he could use your restoration most. He seems to move quicker than the rest of us."

What experience track are we on by the way?

Solvistania stumbles along on the path, Chops helping her along, her breath coming in heaving gasps, and is thankful for a rest, before the coming battle.

"Yes, we need Chops rested, and at his best before we tackle it."

Like the new avatar?

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

"Agreed. Chops gets it."

Ilona breathes a bit more heavily, a trickle of sweat running down her neck. The obvious tiredness paradoxically making her seem tougher, as if nothing would stop her.

"We take this thing now, carefully, watch each other's backs and be prepared for anything. It's desparate. The time for anything other than full assault's over."

Love it

Remember that most of you are fatigued. Check the Core Rules for the description of that condition. I have described the entrance to the cave. I'm gonna need your actions now.

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

Can't run, can't charge, -2 Str and Dex until 8 hrs sleep.

Earth Elemental Familiar 5

At the site of the earth so despicably ravaged by the worms, Pebble stands tall, ready to fight the despoilers.

"I'm telling you Grandfather will not be happy at all. We must stop that."

He then plants his feet firmly into the ground and sends his senses toward the cave.

Perception check with tremorsense and darkvision 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

"That's right. Time to end it."

In the fading light Requiem responds to her will, the soulgift bathing the party in its amethyst light as they stand before the looming maw ready to act.

Have to go to court later so may not post until evening. If it starts before then, well you know Ilona, in the thick of it coordinating the attack, no penatlies in combat thanks to Weapon bond.

Yes, that's it, in short.

Solvistania stays near the back of the group, allowing Chop and Felina to flank her, and scans the cave entrance for any tell tale signs of ambush Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 with darkvision.

Felina moves next to her mistress and also scans the entrance with her telepathy Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 Scent and Lowlight Vision, telepathy within 60'

Male Danisil - Evil Subtype Wildlander/1 Rogue/2

Used to travelling long distances on little restu, Anang still feels fine after the two battles and the rush to the cave. He stays near the front of the group, staring intently into the cave, both large ears cocked forward to catch any sign at all of movement.
"The longer we wait the darker it gets and the more advantage the demon has over us. I say Gilian fixes up chops and we destroy the demon now; before it can do any more damage."

Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

Female Erenlander Spiritual Chaneller 5

Casts lesser restoration on Chops which removes the fatigued condition

"Uh, thanks Gillian. It feels dishonorable to take the spell when you ladies need it as badly as I do. I suppose I most need to have my strength up in this coming fight. I won't let it be a waste.

Guys, had a lot to do today. Bunch of meetings and stuff like that, so I'm dead tired. You can expect new post in 12 hours or so...

Pebble:
The cave entrance is pretty narrow. You will be able to push through, of course, and your person as well. But the larger members of the party will probably have some problems. Those black worm things that you smashed earlier today passed through the entrance. You can sense their slimy trail.

Kiron's wolfish tendcies have him breathing a bit heavily but not much worse for ware.

" I am still thirsty for the fight as well.

"Then let's do this. They have a choke point in the entranceway. I want darkvisioned hard hitters in front, others follow, casters to the back."

Kiron looks at the oppening and sighs, "If I get stuck and you all can't push me forward, I will shape shift and move forward, I will do my best to secure the rest of the group's entrace." Kiron squeezes himself into a s small aform as he can and procedes to attempt to enter the cave. if the others can't push him threw he will in deed shape shift and move forward.

Earth Elemental Familiar 5

"Wait, the entrance is too small for big people. Only me and Mistress Gilian can go through easily. I will go in the front with you."

Pebble sinks in the ground and keeps pace with Kiron as he progresses through the entrance, feeling forward for the worms.

Male Orc, Tribe Moon mother, convert: White Mother Sect 3/wildlander

Oh, geez, I am usually really good about not meta gaming sorry about that.

Chops turns to the little rock guy. "Pebble. You are an earth creature, right? Are you able to mold the earth or anything, make that hole bigger."

"I'll follow after your pet rock. He can feel them worms moving in the stone, but I'm bettin that with the gifts of the Mother I can see further than him. Sides I'm smaller than most of ye."

Male Danisil - Evil Subtype Wildlander/1 Rogue/2

"I'll enter after Sorok, as the demon seems to be able to sense me I might be able to distract it and give you larger folk a chance to get inside before it gets all crazy."

Ragnar nods and takes up his customary position as rear guard, spirit-torches illuminating the way for the group.

Your Con score is 20. You are probably wider in the shoulders than Ragnar. :) But you are a dwarf.

Guys, I am sorry for this prolonged not-posting. Real life has intruded once again. I think that I'll be able to move the game forward some time tomorrow.

Male Orc, Tribe Moon mother, convert: White Mother Sect 3/wildlander

No worries, life happens.

Chops nudges the big Dorn in the shoulder with his forearm then takes position on the other side of the entrance, both urutuks up and at the ready.
