Volunteers are needed to escort the body of a deceased venture-captain across the parched Qadiran desert to Katheer. The Silken Caravan offers passage, hauling exotic treasures across the perilous sea of sands. You'll brave bandits, spies, and unwelcome mourners hell-bent on paying respects to your dead companion. Worse still, the caravan's mistress, a satin-swathed Qadiran princess, has designs of her own on you and your cargo.
no, nico's probably right and ashia thinks that (but remember she doesn't actually care what the guy does with the body as long as it's still there to take to its destination). but none of the evidence so far actually supports that position if you start neutral. the evidence so far only supports that people expect evil and conniving from worshippers of lamashtu. that's not unreasonable thing to expect, but the expectation also doesn't prove itself true. if you're in a ghetto it's reasonable to assume some of the people around you are armed and/or dangerous. that doesn't prove that they all are so just because one of them reaches behind him or into his coat in a manner that seems suspicious to you, it doesn't mean he is about to pull a gun. this is a very similar situation. yes, it's likely that this priest is up to no good (almost certain from a player's perspective), but from out characters' perspectives with the rolls we got, the only things that can motivate us to return to the house are prejudice and metagaming. i assume we're not metagaming so it must be the character's prejudice.
There some elements in a fantasy setting that do not have a direct co-relation to the real world. In RL if you go to a guetto you will probably find people with guns. Some of those people may not care if another human being dies as a result of their actions. Some of them may even feel pleasure in the suffering of another human being. But none of them will ever have as the first item on their agendas the destruction of civilization and the end of human kind. That stuff only happens in fantasy novels, comic books, rpgs and movies.
the level of destruction anticipated does absolutely nothing to change the prejudice required to make the kind of assumptions nicolae is making. i'm not saying that it's not okay for nicolae to be prejudiced against lamashtu's followers. i'm only saying that his reaction can only be motivated by prejudice or metagaming considering what we actually know.
edit: i'm at work and will post in character a bit later.
...i'm only saying that his reaction can only be motivated by prejudice or metagaming considering what we actually know.
But thats the thing, that may apply to your character, not to Nicolae. He does have prior experiences with the cult of the demon lords and that is not metagaming. I wont play the character like someone just erase his memories from past adventures. His strong opinions, right or wrong, came from said previous experiences.
yes, but his experience is irrelevant. his experience doesn't prove that a follower of lamashtu is incapable of telling the truth, or being friends with a venture-captain, or of honestly wanting to prepare a body for transit.
the experience we have had with the priest in question does not justify any of nicolae's suspicions. thus, any suspicion he feels is due to the priest being associated with lamashtu. that means it is prejudice.
again, i'm not saying nicolae isn't free to have his prejudices... only that he is, in fact, being prejudiced.
if you see a gang member in a convenience store and automatically assume he's going to rob it because he's a gang member, you are being prejudiced. real life gang member occasionally go into convenience stores and buy things. that doesn't mean you're not safer expecting danger than not... only that your expectation of danger is based on prejudice rather than what's actually happening.
i just realized that imma need some information from you for when i hand out your chronicle sheets. so if you would be so kind as to post your day job check and your XP advancement (im assuming all of you are on standard)

DM after Nico's Coup de Grace is the cleric fully dead? Pizzmic would like to intervene if possible binding the cleric and stabilizing him with a couple hits from a cure light wand rather than murdering a guy in a foreign town.

Maybe its a local term I don't know but cuatroespada is pretty close with its meaning. Pizzmic will talk a lot that's where he is most comfortable so if given an audience he will aim to please. That kind of distractions can make for long sessions in pbp so if we aren't moving fast enough due to pizmmic holding the game up please tell me if its annoying and ill back down from posting so much.
