"Sorry, no," Starflit reports. "Next time the Black Butterfly grants me more power, I'll definitely consider picking it up." Looking a bit sheepish, the inquisitor adds, "Plus, I can't afford the diamond component at this time. I'm not sure if the party funds could cover one...."

In an unrelated matter, Starflit's been eyeballing the weird coppery mantle that allows one to grow wings and fly. It's mostly a Black Butterfly/Goth Moth thing, though copper wings aren't exactly fits for those looks...plus, she'd have to replace her cloak of resistance to use it.

Yay! Post 8000!

Sounds like we should loot this area, then go rest?

Tristain casts Detect Magic and scans the area of magic and things of interest.

”If Kyffin can confirm he can get you back, we’ll kill you in the morning, Kaklatath,” Tris offers a very normal sentence to say.

The ghouls have a few treasures, including an ampoule of false blood (aberration), a scroll of analyze dweomer, a scroll of banishment, and a scroll of eyebite. In addition, Kaklatath’s body bears an organic torc wrapped around its central head stalk, obscured by the feathery fungus that sprouts from its body. Kaklatath explains it's a yithian thought ring, a simple magic item that allows a yithian to extend the range of its telepathy by several orders of magnitude and swap minds with distant targets. This is what allowed Kaklatath to reach out to you from such a distance.

Your rest is undisturbed, though you know your time is running through the hourglass before you need to realign the stellae you've already done though you have several more days. In the morning, when you're ready, you can kill Kaklatath's old human body and restore it back to its original form. Then it's willing to take you back past the guardians at the gate you discovered yesterday.

Kyffin gives Kaklatah the yithian thought ring, and also the metal alloy accordion (yithian lightning gun) with four shots remaining.

Refreshed, he brings out the diamond the next day, and restores life where before there was none. None!

The grin doesn't leave Kyffins face all morning.

Then he follows the yithian past the guardians at the gate from yesterday.

Of course he always casts Magic Vestment after breakfast on his buckler (14h).

He holds off on the air walk and other spells for now.

Tristain follows along to a safe spot to rest, wondering who and how is going to kill and then restore Kak. Seeing Kyffin hand her the gun, his eyes widen.

"Wait, what? You're not going to do it?" Tristain looks at Kyffin. "I thought you were going to do it. What if she misses? What if she can't?" He looks over at the sane Starflit for help here. If there is no sanity there, he looks over at Al, his last option. HIS LAST OPTION.

"Um...well...er...." Starflit plainly squirms under Tristain's gaze. "Uh...there don't seem to be any good options here. Kaklatath--can you take your own life and trust that Kyffin will bring you back in your own body? That would be the easiest way.... Al--would you lose your paladin powers for killing her under these circumstances? Um...maybe Kyffin could use his loud, anti-aberration blade and we could blame IT for the deed?"

Wow--those are some arguments I never thought I'd hear coming out of Starflit's mouth!

After much debate -- put to a merciful end (almost as merciful as the end promised to Kaklatah itself) by Lothan's willingness to sacrifice for the better of the group -- you manage to slay Kaklatath's human body and restore it to their yithian form, much to its gratitude. Once the group is ready, it leads you past the guardians, through the doors.

Delicate, arching stone bridges and struts stretch between a network of large columns, creating a petrified web of nonsensical design. Even the layout of this area is vertiginous, unsettling those who look too far down the 150-foot-deep chasm bridged by these stone spans. Combat map is updated.

Starflit finds it very disconcerting that Tristain suddenly seems to be the voice of reason. She lets out a sign of resignation before telling the others that she'll try another ears of the city spell to try to learn what she can about the remaining polyps in the city.

Here are the questions I came up with: 1) How many flying polyps remain in the city? 2. How many are nearby/Will we likely be fighting more than one at a time? 3. Did the polyps build or engineer this horrid city?

If anyone else can think of a good question, let me know.

At the start of every new day, Tris will make sure that he has all his usual magics up.

Knowing that he’s likely to be at the back, and away from Starflit’s protective magics, he will cast Freedom of Movement on himself. Anyone else need a FoM? With Starflit’s skills, not sure it’s necessary, but Tris may not be close enough all the time and probably won’t be priority for her if something happens.

He shakes his head at Lothan’s clumsy approach, noting that it is far better to not be seen as an ass than to yell it aloud.

He appreciates that the electrical weapon of Kaklatath might be useful in the upcoming fights. ”Yeah, good thinking, Al? Any more bright ideas?”

If nothing else, he plans to stay about 20’ behind the lead victim explorer in this maze of tunnels.

Starflit gets the following answer:

"Yes, they are the architects of Neruzavin and, if not stopped for a second time, Golarion's doom!"

The bad news is they have a number of other pretty awful abilities to make up for that. "Ooowwww!" His teeth chatter as the electricity shatters his muscles.

Kyffin summons a battle companion, praying quickly for a Lilend Azata, before moving up (move to NW of Tristain’s current position on the map so as to provide cover). He summons the Azata in flank with his current position. It begins to inspire courage (+2 morale bonus to attacks, damage, fear, charm, move action) before drawing a sword.

Starflit twirls and takes as much cover beneath her cloak as possible when the electric bolt dances toward her. She doesn't take full damage from the blast, but the platinum-blonde hair of her half-mask looks a bit frazzled.

I'll post Starflit's actions a bit later today. I'm also assuming she's wearing her cloak of resistance still, since she doesn't need the copper wings to fly currently.
