Right, so...what's the plan if we run into that pit fiend down there? Run I hope?

He asked casually, keeping his eyes peeled for anyone who might stumble upon them.

M Halfling

Run extremely fast, or hopefully Audi can jack his jaw well enough to keep us un-eaten.

The heroes find the doors to be unlocked and untapped and in they go, the world seems to fold and shift and turn and they find themselves in

A long corridor extends from a pair of dull metal doors. The walls,
floor, and ceiling of this hall are paneled in gray wood, including
several empty alcoves along each wall. No source for the dim
illumination is apparent. Shadows seem to dance at the corner of
the eye in the alcoves, and a soft, barely audible whispering floats
in the air of this strange place. What appears to be a slumpedover
corpse dressed in tattered robes lies heaped on the floor
between the closest alcoves.

"Pretty sure I run faster than Miro. Yeah, if we see a pit fiend, we run. I'll be jacking my jaw loudly while we do!"

When the corpse does not move, Audi suggested "I can have a look at it and see if its dead."

Definitely a human caster, definitely dead by being stabbed in the chest. It would appear that some of the scrolls around him had been cast recently before death.

M Human Adept 1/Expert 4 Init +1, Per +10 HP 27/27, AC 15/11/15, Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +9

"Well, that sure ups the ante if we're found in here. I wonder who he was." Audi helps to search the body for any items or identification.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

M Halfling

So this place is or was occupied considering his killer might still be around. Miro loads his crossbow.

M Human Adept 1/Expert 4 Init +1, Per +10 HP 27/27, AC 15/11/15, Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +9

"Maybe. Also might have been another of our fellow party guests. Maybe someone snatched him, dragged him in here and murdered him. They might have even been hoping to frame us. Would make a helluva opera don't you think." Nonetheless, Audi heeds Miro's caution and pulls out the faithful chair leg that he uses as a club.

M Halfling

Miro looks around nervously, it was so quiet and weird. They better find the thing and get out as soon as they could. He checks the body with Audi to help speed things along.

Common in a shaky script is the following—“Possible
Passwords: Venderbaxis; Vlenderaxits; Vlenkervandis;
Vledervaddus… hope one of them works to open the

M Halfling

Unless one of us knows magic these scrolls are just good for selling. This guy might have been a thief trying to get what we are after.

Unnamed

So who is carrying them?

M Halfling

Why our big strong half-orc of course!

M Human Adept 1/Expert 4 Init +1, Per +10 HP 27/27, AC 15/11/15, Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +9

Ok with me. I can't cast any of them either. None are on the adept list and I don't have UMD.

Glad to have you back, good thing you werent about for the party, or you too would have been drawn into a duel, goodness knows I was gonna sell you up to the noble ladies *eyebrow waggle* Lawls

I wish Hippa were here, Im sure she could figure those scrolls out, You think she is getting the grounds set for our little bar set up?

The tall noble wondered still trying to keep his eyes peeled. Whatever had killed the scroll carrying fellow might still be about after all.

Hippa had to wander off somewhere right? I mean I would totally trust her to get the business up and running ... i think.

M Human Adept 1/Expert 4 Init +1, Per +10 HP 27/27, AC 15/11/15, Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +9

I think she's in long-term recovery from her injuries. Btw, she would have had to UMD them too. None of those spells are on the Adept list. This sort of thing is where the NPC classes start to limit us (but we're not far from class levels!)

M Halfling

Bars are difficult to keep going at least half shut down within two years. Miro hags about, waiting for the bigguns to take the lead.

Our heroes make their way into the next area

This wood-paneled hall rises to a height of twenty feet above,
and a single fifteen-foot-high shelf filled sparsely with books
runs along the wall. Eerie wisps of shadowy fog coil and
writhe on the floor, which unlike the walls seems to be made
of polished black stone.

Promptly they hear a growling and infront of the heroes is a demonic looking dog, that is 8 feet long, then a second moves out from the other side of the room
