I'll add in my stuff for Status / Hero Points later, since it's not super important yet.

Hey James will you be giving feedback before selections / how long will recruitment be open for?

Gold!! 5d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 3, 6) = 18 x10= 180gp

I will give feedback where requested/ask pertinent questions. I'm going to leave recruitment open until Friday this week, then announce my selections on Saturday or Sunday once I've had a good look over everyone's submissions.

I'll be looking to fill slots in the party makeup-
1 martial character
1 skill character
1 divine character
1 arcane character
1 or 2 of my choice or to round out the party.

I would certainly like feedback. :)

Sorry for the bombardment of questions. Are Aasimar also a possibility?

The bombardment continues. :-P

The trait

Wrath of Mavros (Seat of Mavros):

You were born in the Seat of Mavros and have been trained
for battle all your life.
Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus to melee damage with all spears
and axes.

Do you think that they intended that to be spears and long swords? The text refers to Mavros favoring spears and longswords all of the time, but I can't find anything about axes.

Also, regarding the Aasimar race question; I initially chose tiefling because I wanted a demonic look, but it turns out Aasimar in Midgard commonly have horns and red iris' as well.

Open till Friday, excellent!

I'll have something up in a couple of days :)

Sorry to keep asking questions, but I have two more.

1) Even though I have submitted my character do you mind if I change deities? (I am thinking of either going with no deity or The Goat of the Woods)

2)Are we using the languages of Midgard or Golgarion?

I'll certainly accept feedback

James, since Gunslingers will probably be a bit difficult to keep stocked up on ammo and such, what are your feelings about a Darakhul Oracle (Dark Tapestry Mystery/Haunted Curse) who is obsessed with the Cthonic Titans?

Background:

Vinter remembered his parents. From his mother he got his height. She was a Northlander, and a fine herbalist. Though she took some time to learn the herbs, and plants of the Wastes she was a quick learner, and spread her poultices and potions to help all the neighbors.

His father was a Nurian spice merchant who had traveled to the North to bargain with the people, trading southern spices, for northern mosses. He was severely mauled by a Rogue Polar bear, and nursed back to life by his Mother. They fell in love during this period, but realized that they would never fit in, in either culture, so they packed up there things, and little Vinter and headed for the Western Wastes to make their home. They built a small farm with hardy goats, chickens, and a large herb and spice garden. It was not a bad life. While living there Vinter had 4 siblings born. Two girls, and twin infant boys.

Vinter's mother learned much of her lore of herbs and plants of the area from an old man who lived in the hills above the farm. Vinter loved the old man's visits, and began to tag along with him for short day trips when he was only 7. As he grew older, he began to spend longer trips with the man. At first his father approved, but as Vinter grew older he began to expect him to help on the farm more. This caused conflict between him and his father, but as the siblings grew up and were able to help out more around the farm, Vinter was able to spend more time learning about the Wastes from the man. It didn't hurt that the things he learned, particularly about weather, and natural hazzards actually helped around the farm as well.

Finally the old man mentioned that he was taking a long trek to see some "Old Ones" in their eternal battle. This was a week trip there and back, and Vinter begged his father to let him go. He finally relented as a "name day" present to his son, and Vinter traveled with the old man. It was the most glorious time of his life, and he learned much of the land and it's people. The time to return home came to soon.

As the two travellers got about a day from home the old man begin to show nervousness. He became much edgier, and told Vinter to keep a sharp eye out, as something was not right. The animals that gave him their information, were not acting as normal. About noon that day they were ambushed by a band of Dust Goblins. With the Bow work of the old, man, and some handy help from his yellow dog, the bandits were finally ran off, but not before Vinter took an arrow in his arm. They doubled the effort to get home, and travelled deep into the night before stopping. The next morning a few hours before sunrise they crested the last hill before home. Vinter was being very brave about his wound, and though it was painful he couldn't wait to show his family what he had been through. Unfotrunately he would never get the chance.

They crested the hill, and terror filled Vinters Heart. Before him was the blackened, and still smoking ruins of the Farm. The house and all the outbuildings had been burnt to the ground, the fields trambled, and even bloated livestock lay where it had fallen. Running down the hill Vinter was devastaded to find the bodies of his parents, and his two oldest sisters among the dead. Hacked, and stabbed by the familiar Dust Goblin weapons. Vinter buried his parents, and poked through the remains looking for small reminders to remember them by. The next day he informed the old man that he was going for revenge against the tribe. The old man called him foolish, and refused to accompany him. He called the old man a coward, and told him that he was going to save the twins, and take revenge for his families murder.

Tracking the maurauding tribe was no problem, and at dawn the next day he charged into the camp, screaming in rage. Though he took many down, he was finally brought down by their overwhealming numbers. Since they still had a few goats to eat, they tied him up, and caged him, saving him to eat another day. Beaten and injured he waited for his death. Once he saw his twin brothers being led around shackled, and cried out to them, but they seemed not to notice them. That night as he lay in a fitful slumber, he felt a cold nose against his cheek. It was the old man's yellow dog. Tied around his neck was a familiar flint dagger belonging to the old man. As Vinter used it to free himself, chaos broke out in the camp. Fire arrows rained down on their shelters, and the old man ran charging into the clearing hacking left and right at the confused goblins. He caught Vinters eyes, and yelled at him "Run you fool". Vinter in a panic took off into the darkness. He fell into a ravine, and was knocked uncouncious. Feeling his cowardice he backtracked to the campsite to see the site deserted. Of the old man, or his brothers there was no sign.

For the next five years he travelled the wastes looking for signs of the band that had turned his life to one of hate and vengence. He put to use the skills that were taught to him by both his family and the old man. Thought he would never give up looking for them, he knew he had to go on with his life. He began to work as a scout leading hunting parties from the cities, or individuals that wished to study the Old Ones. Soon he became known as a reliable and knowledgeable guide, and developed contacts, and friends in all the cities of the Wastes.

His favorite though was Barsella. He bought a small cottage near the docks, and sold his guide services to ships arriving from other lands. He'd been to several Islands beyond the western shore, and knew the wastes as well as any man. Now he was back in town, waiting for his next job. Maybe he'd take that pretty Arabelle the Wainrights daughter to dinner tomorrow night. He still had a bit of coin left, but he knew he must find a new job soon, as his purse was light.

Could someone point me to the Midgard material? Is it an adventure path?

Do you think that they intended that to be spears and long swords? The text refers to Mavros favoring spears and longswords all of the time, but I can't find anything about axes.

Yes, longswords are one of his favored weapons so I assume that we can substitute that for the axe.

Aasimar are allowed.

1. Sure, you don't have to be nailed down yet. Worshipping the Goat of the Woods will mark you as a madman to just about anyone that finds out, though. Thoth-Hermes is a presentable choice, given that he's the patron of Bemmea. Sarastra and Hecate are also more socially accepted.

2. Midgard languages.

I'm kinda hesitant about the Darakhul, mainly for daylight weakness (you'll be at a disadvantage when every other party member is active) and the fact that you're destroyed at 0 hp. And in my experience, negative energy affinity is another disadvantage in most games. That being said, if you're fine dealing with that and you have a cool character in mind, I'll hear you out.

Okay, I think that's all the questions for now. I'll go through characters later and give feedback where requested.

Sorry to keep pestering you with questions but I now have three questions.
1) Do you allow the anti-hero variant?
2)With the enchanting of magic items do you need to expend experience or no?
3) Could I take the additional traits feat and keep one of the traits open until I quality for it? (The trait Master Weapon Smith requires 5 ranks in Craft Weapons so could I take it but not get the benefits until I meet the requirements or could I leave that trait open until I meet the requirements)?

Hmmm... agreed on the Darakhul being a hindrance. I was going to make the character very Mythos inspired, but you are correct in saying that the race could cripple the character, which invalidates the whole concept. I may choose to create an Elf Bard/Shadowdancer with contacts within the Shadow Fey Courts, marking him as an enemy of the Order of the Black Rose.

Ok, I'm going to offer up Ariso Chivala, devotee of Loki. He was made for a Midgard homebrew game set in Salzbach that went south because of the GM's RL issues. Currently converting down a level, and up to 20 pt buy.

Just wondering James, are you planning on running anything from the newly-released Midgard Tales? I ask because I have a copy, but I haven't read it all yet, and I would refrain from reading anything you were intending to run.

Cheers!

I'm planning to use Atop the Warring Blasphemies and possibly the Resurrection of the Steigenadler for this one. Thanks for checking!

1. I don't know what you're referring to. Where do I find this?

2. No, Pathfinder did away with that. It costs gp and time, but that's all you need if you have the feats/requirements down.
3. I can't find the trait you're talking about. I found the master craftsman feat which requires 5 ranks, but that's the closest I've gotten. Where can I find it?

1) anti-hero is a variant rule in the APG for the hero points where you get no hero points or ability to get hero points, but you get a free feat
3) In Midgard Campaign Setting (P.37) top right second column.

(sorry about the late response internet has been down for a bit).

Olivia's stats should be all good. Let me know if there is anything that needs explanation or if you notice any mistakes. Background should come soon.

James Keegan wrote:

Any chance of this still happening? I just want to make sure I have time to make any necessary chances before recruitment actually, you know, closes.

Yes, I will. Sorry for the wait.

Ah, I see.

I prefer you stick with the hero points- I've found that they can be very handy from time to time.

I don't have a problem with you keeping the trait slot open for Master Weapon Smith.

Looks to be correct to me.

okay will stick with the points

I like him! Looks good mechanically and I think misfiring on a 1-2 with the pistol is a good compromise.

I don't have any issues, really. He looks good, mechanically checks out. If I have to nitpick, 'horsechopper' is more of a pathfinder goblin thing and Dust Goblins are a bit less humorous on the whole. But that's if I'm being super picky.

Please ignore Ariso's equipment, I've yet to downgrade from his level 2 incarnation.

And I might have to change to avatar... That fish-eyed Nick Cage stare gets a bit disturbing after a while.

Keep it, who doesn't love to adventure with Nick Cage?

Nit pick away :) Changer horsechopper for Heavy Flail. removed galic text, that was really there to explain his last name

Here we are, Friday. Last day for submissions- midnight tonight (US Eastern) will be the cut-off. If you need time to make changes on a character already posted, just let me know and I'll give you a break but I won't accept new PCs after midnight.

James Keegan wrote:

Awesome, thanks!

Okay, I've thought it through and I've decided to go with six characters for this one:

1. Olivia Forgeborn (Jam412)
2. Ariso Chivala (littlehewy)
3. Asopus Seekerstone (Void Dragon)
4. Echo (YoricksRequiem)
5. Vinter Klodge (scranford)
6. Jabbik Stinkbreath (vallis aka Vishoon)

Thank you to everyone who applied and best of luck in the future- it was a tough call, so I needed a little extra time to think it over. I'll start the OOC thread tonight for any last minute adjustments and have our first post tomorrow evening.

thanks for choosing me

Woohoo! Ariso rides again!

Thanks James. I'll sort his gear out pronto.

Thanks. Looking forward to playing in this setting, and in your game. Should be interesting with my favored enemy goblinoids, and one in the party :-).

I'll get the profile up shortly.

Thank you for picking me.
