Edit: Though it might result in Mr. Blinky and Mr. Winky (which is what I'm thinking of naming her eidolons) chewing through the mean old man's cane.
They'd have to get to it first... Investigator is a Dex based class, and I'm fairly certain I'm going to take Improved Initiative... and probably reactionary, a la Yoda: old man on a cane that can kick-arse at the drop of a hat. OH MAN!! What if I took gnome as the race?! Get some innate magic and blazing white hair.

That's what sleep is for :)
The rest of it: awesome.

![]() |

Dolok, you might want to get that (closed) recruitment thread up so that we can work on stuff for your campaign there, rather than taking up this thread. Looking forward to the character creation info so we can start building.

Dolok Pickering |

Finally finished reading the module! (Kept falling asleep!) Well I'm gone the rest of this evening to my tabletop Pathfinder game.

Goruck of the Stone |

Ugh, you beat me to the punch Illiam! I've been wanting to use broodmaster for a character with a scaled up shoulder angel and devil! :p
Hmm, now I need to think of equally awesome characters to match you two.

Chillel |

Blinky, Winky & Inky?
You can add a skill/ intelligent based eidolon- Mr Thinky.
And one with an alcohol problem- Mr Drinky.
And the untrustworthy Mr Finky.
The incarcerated- Mr Clinky.
The serpentine- Mr Slinky.
The reptilian- Mr Skinky.

Chillel |

What about we play a themed campaign, where we all play characters that are either mentally ill or therapists trying to treat them.
I have in mind a paranoid schizophrenic who believes that the world is full of monsters and malignant individuals trying to kill him. Also, he believes he does not have free will, rather his actions are controlled by a number of godlike beings who use dice to determine what he does and how successful he is.

![]() |

I thought of about half of those names. Reading over the broodmaster rules though, they'll get pretty squishy if I try to make too many.

Goruck of the Stone |

The flirty one-Mr. Winky
The delicious one-Mr. Twinky
The baby of the group-Mr. Binky
The meddling kid-Mr. Jinky
Well, I call dibs on the orderly!

Chillel |

I believe that if you are going to play an orderly you will have to be of a lawful alignment.

Which is to say, I'm planning to keep it to 2 or maybe 3 Eidolons (one of which won't be spec'd as a front-liner) to keep them from getting too squishy, but I can also name my summoned creatures. I might end up wishing I had just kept it to 1, but it will be a learning experience, and by my reading, I'll still have the option of reducing it to a "brood" of one later on if having multiple eidolons turns out to suck.

Dolok Pickering |

Ok, you all are already making me get sick & tired of the "inky's"!!! I may just have to prohibit them!

If you post a recruitment thread with character creation rules, people can start building their own characters and stop worrying so much about mine ;) :P

All too easy. Lawful neutral Shadow Assassin. Years of working in the asylum's have taught her how to wait out psychotic breaks, along with always having a method to deal with a wild patient.
Wise words oft come from the mouth of babes.

Given your diminishing enthusiasm for them we may have to name you Mr Sinky.
And if you create a character creation thread, it would be logical to post a link, wouldn't it Mr Linky?

Dolok Pickering |

Okay! New Campaign thread started! With Character creation rules!
Here's the link: (I hope all this is working right!)
By the way? How can I get links at the top of the page like Mended has to post links to maps & such - & then how do I add a link to my avatar, like he has for the battle grid?

![]() |

& then how do I add a link to my avatar, like he has for the battle grid?
I think he did it the same way we put character sheet links in ours.

![]() |

I think I won at rolling stats.

Goruck of the Stone |

Goruck says hi ;)

Dolok Pickering |

WOW!!!!! I'm doing LOTS of learning! Gettin that goal accomplished! (yes, I'm intentionally 'speaking' redneck style here!) :P

MendedWall12 |

Just wanted to comment on Lunarinus' plan here. It's not bad. I mean as far as tactics go, it's really good, actually. He's right, that if you are funneling things through that hallway right into a waiting Goruck with a tower shield, that essentially ends the hallway right by the big open double doors and the entryway, you've got yourself what the tacticians call a "kill zone." My only worry about it, if it were me as a player, would be what if they come down the hallway, see the choke point, and then double back and come at you from the yard, or the library via the gaping hole in the wall. I think those things could be addressed by other tactical minds in game though. As per his request, I won't actually "activate" the bashing of the door until/unless everyone agrees and gets themselves into the position they think best. Meaning I'll be waiting for everyone else to post their agreement/disagreement and move their token where they want it to be before any door bashing actually occurs. Looks like Dolok agrees with the plan...

Goruck of the Stone |

I'm afraid I'm going to be unable to post until roughly 5 tonight.

Dolok Pickering |

Mended, just sharing an idea in case you want to use it. In my other PBP, the DM has a Google Doc where he has many of the dice roll stats listed so that he can just copy and use instead of re-typing every time. He also has it set where we can update our numbers when we level up. I certainly plan to do it in my campaign. Here's a link in case you want to see what I'm talking about (And copy it).

Yikes! That's serious. Thanks for sharing. I have a similar document, though it's only got initiative and perception in it right now. I can, sort of, see a use for some of the others, but, the way I GM, more often than not the players will be making those rolls, not me. Still valuable resource when you need it. I'll be thinking about updating mine in the near future anyway, since you guys are all, hopefully, be leveling up here in the near future.

Speaking of docs, we could use one for our languages, too. Or just a doc for general setting notes, that we could all contribute to and find in the links at the top.

Dolok Pickering |

Mended, I have a new respect for you and I promise I will pay more attention to the pictures of the monsters you put on the battle-grid.
I have been working on first, verifying that the monster info is available on-line, and while I'm at it, choosing a picture I can use on the battle-grid. I've done 31 (so far) today (Just completed level 7 of the 16 and that is only for beasts I'm having to look up! There are almost as many whose stats are in the book & I still need to get a picture for them!), and it has made me realize how much work you are putting into this! THANK-YOU!!!

![]() |

You can also just do an image search for the name of the monster to find pictures you can use for it. That's what I do for the game I run on Roll20.

That is what I'm doing. But some unique ones I'll have to copy and modify off of the PDF for the module.

I've had that same idea for a while and just never gotten around to it. I'll try and get that put together today. I'll have to scour back through and see all the languages we've used in game and their earthly equivalents. Shouldn't take too long. I'll post the link as soon as I get that done, and make sure it is set to everyone with the link can edit.
@Dolok, yeah, GMing requires a lot more work than being a player, but it is all fun for me, and all worth it in the end, when great stories get told, like the one we're telling here. The narrative this group is telling has so much potential. Oh man!!! Just wait till you all get back into town... fireworks, I'm guessing, to say the least. Kairon's head might explode.

Sounds great to me!!!
If it helps I use Lithuanian to represent Ignan.

Baradim |

I know we have been using Latvian for Orc. I cannot remember the others sadly.
So did Baradim see anything down the hallway when he peeked his head around? I don't think he'll be able to really assist fighting against a kobold with how tight the quarters are and would rather keep an eye out for danger.

Stormstrider |

Syrus Terrigan |

@Stormstrider --
I am interested, but I truly don't know if I will have the time to invest in it properly. There have been a couple of developments in my little world that may constrain my time more than would be conducive to participating in an additional PbP. Mended has already noticed how much more quiet I have been the past many days, and while that's about to return to normal, I may just have too much going on to #DoItRight.
It's probably better for me to bow out now than leave y'all hanging. That way you don't have to MurderDeathKill one of my characters unnecessarily.
skulks in a dim corner with a massive paper-filled folder
Myyyy . . . preciousessss!!

MendedWall12 |

Baradim, I missed that you peeked around the corner! I'll get something up addressing that as soon as I can, but I've got work I've got to finish before going to lunch. On my agenda for this afternoon, in order of importance: [list]
That should pretty much fill up the bulk of my afternoon. :)
@Syrus, I'll be surprised if there aren't, at the very least, some strongly worded letters of censure... :P

Baradim |

@Stormstrider - At first, I was going to say no and pass but sure, why the hell not. I'll figure out something to play and squeeze into the group.

Chillel |

I just left some questions for you Stormstrider on your thread about acceptable character ideas.
But I won't be posting anything tonight, its near my bed time.

Scottish Gaelic for Gnome, Irish for Sylvan, Welch for Draconic. We've also used elven (at least one word of it), but I don't think we picked a real-world language to represent it.

MendedWall12 |

Thanks for that list Illiam. The one Elvish word I used, I actually cobbled together from roots I got over at the online elvish dictionary, but using that to translate Elvish in the future would be a horrible nightmare, so I guess we'll all have to decide on which real world language we want to use for Elven whenever the need arises. I've got the link to what I'm calling the Community Knowledge Reference Document, and I'll be putting the link up top shortly. Please add whatever you feel is helpful. :)

Trying to figure out the best way to get into position when my turn comes, and I want to know if you'll allow something: If Illiam, from the square he's in now, to the side of the door, leans to one side so that he can see through the door, could he shift to the square just to the right of him? It's only one square away, but getting there with a normal move would take 2 or 3 squares of movement, and I'm thinking the shift would let him do it in 1. Trying to figure out how to eke out as much movement as possible so that I can get into position to help. I'm already thinking that I won't be able to use Color Spray without hitting half of my own team in the process, due to close quarters.

Dolok Pickering |

Illiam, just to point out, it looks like there's a hostile coming in from the western side!

![]() |

Yeah, I see that now. Still, my character's abilities are more focussed on taking monsters out of the fight, so I want to try to find a way to get to the main baddy and/or multiple baddies in close proximity. That means ignoring the lone wolf for now.

I have no problem with that. I see exactly what you mean, lean over, shift, boom you're on the other side of the wall. Totally legit. Go for it!

Cool. Not sure I'll actually do it now, since Lunarinus is standing in the square I was thinking about trying to get to, but good to know that it's an allowable maneuver. The square just to his left might work, too.
