Hmmm. There's a lot of issues here. First, the duration is only 2/level, so 16 hours. In all likelihood, that's not a problem because if we're in here longer than 16 hours, we're probably all dead. Second, it doesn't stop people from entering the circle, so there's a real possibility that he could be moved. There's also a lot of questions regarding souls and bodies. Has Graxer's soul left his body, and is it on the way to its place at Gorum's side? If not, can we get it moving faster? I mean, I've got some pull with Pharasma, and I'm sure you've got quite a bit (you do have a Nosoi, after all). Could we talk to her and get her to shorten Graxer's Path?
I'll hold off on Consecrate for now.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Hey Megan I just noticed you never answered if there was any magic on the Fungal Skeletons?
Astrid Bronzebottom |
I just posted this in my other game. I didn't want to leave you nice folks hanging. But basically to quote what I said in my own game, what's been going on:
Yeah this has been a pretty rough few weeks, I was ill for longer than expected and still kind of am, but more over my father had a minor heart attack Saturday. So there's been dealing with that and the holidays at work. No plans to stop the game now. I just wanted to let everyone know what was happening.
I'm sorry if you've moved on already or if I slowed anything down.

Its all good Astrid... just post when you can...and I hope you start feeling better! :)

Spell resistance doesn't work on Snowball
Really? Sweet! Good man! Didn't realize that!
Oh.. and there was no animated statue..as in a spell. It was a magic item I neglected to put on the loot list. A Special Figurine of Wondrous Power - Marble Elephant. When Ashe killed the driver Rakshasa the figurine stopped receiving orders and stopped attacking. Ashe then figured out how to deactivate the figurine and reduce it to its dormant statuette state. He's currently carrying it in his Handy Haversack.
Thanks for reminding me of it though!
Ebon Wings |
True: I should have statuette. Mechanically I know Figurines have nothing to do with Craft: Construct, but they are thematically similar.
I thought about putting more damage into the Rakshasha, but at this point we've got a Paladin Smiting and an Inquisitor Baneing... I'd rather be looking around for the other shoe to drop than using limited spells to take down what are probably dead foes anyway.
Perhaps there's nothing about those statues, but statues, coffins, still lakes and corpses trigger my "Looks like a trap" reflex :)
I really do need to get more Pearls or a bow for EW, don't I.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Well a bow or an appropriate weapon.. maybe a sythe with the guided weapon enhancement.
BUT..That particular weapon enhancement is in the next module of this adventure path AP 10# - A History of Ashes. So maybe a little patience is in order as we will likely run across such a weapon?
I'll admit I ran across this... Celestial Full Plate and this would be Awesome armor for Asherick. BUT that armor appears in the module AFTER the next module in this Adventure Path. AP 11# - Skeletons of Scarwall.
I'd love to have that ...but at our super-slow pace... I don't think we'll ever get to the end of this Adventure Path... so I play just to get to play Asherick, and try to convince one of my friends here in Indianapolis to run the full Curse of the Crimson Throne for a actual play through. No luck just yet.
Ebon Wings |
Don't know how effective it is going to be, just so that there's less "don't want to use spells so will do nothing".
Maybe we will get to the end. One thing getting older hs shown me is that big games can still happen, they just happen slowly. A friend of mine recently wrapped up a game that happened fortnightly for eight years.
Lucia Selito |
If you'd like, I could loan you my repeating crossbow. You're definitely not proficient, but at least it'd be something to do. besides, these ACs so far seem pretty hit-table.
If we get to the end, that's great. If not, that's also fine. I remember being in a campaign with a couple good friends that lasted all through high school, meeting multiple times a week. We were level 11 at the end. I'm patient, and I have other games going to keep me occupied.
Asherick Whiteplume |
You know... Ashe's bow - "TITAN" is a +1 Adaptive Composite Shortbow is carried in his Efficient Quiver at his back... when he's not using it... it IS available and easily gotten to.
Shortbow is a martial weapon, automatically adjusts to the strength of the shooter and is +1 to hit and damage.
Whereas... all repeating crossbows are exotic weapons.
Lucia Selito |
So, do we need to rest here? I don't know what EW has left, but if Ashe has used most of his smites for the day, not to mention his channel count is low, we either need to hole up somewhere or find the wizard who's theoretically still waiting for us in here.
To be honest, Lucia's frustration wasn't entirely triggered by Ashe's actions. You play the character how you need to. It was, however, triggered by one small part of your post.
{and not lost on Lucia handsome
That part of the post bothers me a little bit because, while you're free to play your character however you'd like, it's very bold to assume that Lucia finds Ashe attractive.
I don't want to create a massive stir about this, it just bothered me for some reason. I do apologize if my post seemed aggressive or inflammatory for some reason. I'm fine with having a little bit of in-party conflict, especially during a tense situation like this dungeon, but I don't want it to spill over. If you need me to lay off a little, just say the word.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Ashe may need a rest to recover his divine abilities.. but they are not critical.. he has many resources left and even if ALL his divine abilities were expended for the day... he is still a very capable fighter and would still vote to push on until Vencarlo and Kalipopolous were found and secured; not to mention our remaining player character who is being very patient. It would be acceptible player-wise to rest once we have at least found our last player character.
Really? Sorry you misunderstood my post.. it was purely meant in a descriptive sense, not to imply any attraction whatsoever! Ashe has a charisma of 18 which indicates to me calling him handsome is not a misrepresentation of his physical appearance.
Your post was not inflamatory or aggressive... perhaps a little short-sighted for she has been following the trail of bodies left by the Justicar's all day. Clearly they have been busy in battle after many encounters. But perhaps it has just not occurred to her that Ashe has been expending uses of his abilities all day... battling Red Mantis Assassins, multiple Rakshasas, street thugs, the Emperor of Korvosa and his minions, even a nest of cloakers...
Your playing your character PERFECTLY fine.. in fact YOU cannot play her wrong... cause it's YOUR character! By default any way you choose to play her is correct cause YOU define her personality, her strengths, weaknesses and personality flaws or traits & quirks! You can't play her "wrong". :)
Ebon Wings |
EW's got about one big combat left in him, a ton of utility spells and hide campsight.
I'm fine with pressing on: I used a lot of his abilities early on to decent effect.
I do think we need to find our remaining new player!
As for the rest of it, I agree that (barring magic/powers of course - and that's another difficult discussion) the inside of character's heads belongs solely to their players.
I'm not saying Ashe was trying to do that - I had assumed he was trying for genre emulation - but we all need to be careful whenever we get near that line. This isn't the first time someone has raised the issue around me. I'm glad you raised the issue if you were uncomfortable Lucia - it can be difficult to do.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Heh, working on it Edmund!
Megan you still there?
Asherick Whiteplume |
Waiting on a post from you megan...
Asherick Whiteplume |
Waiting on a post Megan...
Asherick Whiteplume |
I'm really trying to move things along so we can get our other player in. Have we heard anything from Astrid Bronzebottom? Or did she just drop out without saying so?
Asherick Whiteplume |
Still waiting on a post Megan...
Asherick Whiteplume |
Waiting on a post from you megan.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Waiting on a reply from you Megan.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Hey Megan Edmund has been real patient... is there ANY way we can get him involved?
Also... we have had a cavalcade of character that have joined and left the party...each time that has happened.. we the loyal players have lost items they have take with them when they suddenly just stopped playing. Can we with your permission reclaim all those lost magic items? I can save the list so should they return we can easily redistribute the items but its really annoying to loose items that we the players may need in the future.
Astrid Bronzebottom, I can't remember if she posted she was dropping but she has not posted anything in a long time... do we need to replace her? The AP is technically designed for 4 players.. we do have Edmund... sort of, and I kind of understand we are at a VERY inopportune moment to add a new player. But we really could use another player...

Asherick Whiteplume |
Have at it.. none of it Ashe needs.
Lucia Selito |
Sorry for my lack of posting. I've had a hard time with Lucia's voice as well. I wanted her to be a bit belligerent and resentful of Ashe, while simultaneously admiring him, but it hasn't worked out at all.
To be honest, though, I've been dealing with other issues as well. I've been job searching with little luck, and over the last month, my grandfather has started dealing with terminal cancer, so some things have been sacrificed. Unfortunately, this game has kind of been one of them.
I've been monitoring the thread, but between not having Lucia's voice and my current issues, it's been a low priority to respond unless I'm needed. If you'll still have me, I'll work on that and would like to stay around. If not, I understand.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Have no fear.. life pulls at us all with its trials and tribulations as well. As far as I'm concerned.. you're welcome to play as long as you desire ..contribute as much as you can.. we'll ALL understand! :)
Not sure where Lucia's belligerence to Ashe is coming from {smile}.. but she would not be the first to take issue with the paladin! Though I'm trying to play him as the perfect gentleman.. it seems to grate people. :)
Lucia Selito |
Actually, when I designed her, I took the liberty of reading the entirety of the discussion thread, and I noticed that. I decided I wanted to play a strong, independent woman who don't need no man, but at the moment, that's not an option because we're so far down on characters that taking risks makes no sense. Once we're up to four, it should get easier, maybe.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Ah.. I see! :)
Ashe IS sometimes overly protective of women-folk... that chivalrous streak in him is hard for him to rein in sometimes.
Ashe has a personal vow to avoid killing women whenever possible.. so facing the Grey Maidens in combat was ... something of an issue when he kept only swinging to subdue them taking that {-4} to hit.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Well the Discussion thread and the Gameplay threads are in the public domain.. so feel free to read any and all of it that you want!
LOL! I just hope I~ 'the player' am not judged too harshly on the previous arguments, story plot antics, and personality conflicts that have arisen due to MY fault. In the court of public opinion.. tone, intent and written word can be misconstrued despite how clear and fair one THINKS they might be trying to act~ right or wrong. Clearly others have disagreed with me on several occasions. I'm only trying to play a paladin as would seem forthright and fair as possible to me.
{Chuckle}.. not an easy task even in a sit-down, face to face game!
Edmund Gwenn |
Just waiting to hear whether Edmund has been a prisoner and escaped, or if he just snuck into this area somehow looking for his son. I don't know how hard it would have been for him to get this far alone and undetected, given the difficulties all you folks seem to have had. Escaped prisoner is probably more reasonable. A guard could have gotten careless.
Asherick Whiteplume |
Hey Megan you gonna asnwer Edmund? He's got questions.
Its been a couple weeks.. I think, Megan... we're waiting on a post...?
