About Lucia SelitoBackstory:
1. Born to a Varisian mother and an elven man she never met in Old Korvosa 2. Mother died while she was still young 3. Rather than dying on the streets or becoming one of Lamms Lambs, was adopted into the Church of Pharasma 4. Initially, trained as a cleric, but her aggressive, belligerent attitude made that a bad fit 5. Began training as an Inquisitor in the tradition of Osiron’s Voices of the Spire 6. Initially, worked with a few other inquisitors hunting undead and minor necromancers in the Gray district 7. After a few years, she moved on to bigger quarry; namely, the necromancer Ryloth 8. Just as she was closing in on him, he was captured and publicly executed for his involvement in the Blood Veil conspiracy 9. That leaves us at something close to the present day “…and so, we come to the crux of the matter," Bishop d’Bear said. “The false accusation of Trinia was one thing, but all evidence suggests that the deaths of thousands to Blood Veil were part of a deliberate plot. Those deaths were not meant to happen. We have no choice but to get involved. And yet, to publicly align ourselves at this moment would bring chaos to the streets of Korvosa, and result in more unnecessary death.” Lucia nodded. She’d been aware of the debate that had taken place in the Church’s hierarchy over this. It had been raging for weeks, with d’Bear’s side gradually gaining traction. “We’ve selected you as our representative in this issue. I believe your work hunting Ryloth would have borne fruit if he hadn’t been caught and executed before you got there.“ Ah yes, Ryloth. Lucia had been hunting him for nearly a year. She’d found several of his labs across the city, but just when she was getting close, Pharasma had received him early at the hands of the executioner. That was the only failure that still bothered her. “We’re sending you to meet up with the Paladin Asherick Whiteplume and his group. The Justicars, I believe they call themselves. We believe they headed into Old Korvosa, but we don’t know what purpose they went there for. Still, they should be easier to find than Ryloth was.” “It will be done. I will find them, and I will give them the support of the Church. Will I have any other resources from you?” Bishop d’Bear paused, and a look of concern flickered across her face. “We cannot commit anything else for fear of disorder. If the Church were found to be involved, it would be a disaster for all of Korvosa.” As Lucia strapped on her armor and pulled on her hat, grabbed her sword and crossbow, and stepped out of the Church into the Gray district, she thought about the times she’d seen Asherick. First, with that girl, Trinia. He proved the queen was wrong and the girl was innocent. His group was the driving force that bared the Blood Veil conspiracy too. She’d first seen Asherick after prayers when he’d brought Trinia to the Church. He’d been close to the young bard, while Lucia had been behind one of the pillars holding the Church’s roof aloft. Lucia had heard much that had passed between the two. All that aside, the Justicars could be a fun group to work with for a while. She made her way through Korvosa’s streets, purposefully striding towards the last standing bridge. Invisible, it was no problem to cross right beneath the watchful eyes of the Grey Maiden legionnaires enforcing the quarantine. As she became visible again in an alleyway, she heard several singsong voices coming her way. "Heartless, heartless, that's what he became, the Emp'rer sits on his throne all the same! Choppy, choppy, chop, it calls no more, the tall knife falls into the city’s lore!" She stepped out from the alley to see a swarm of street urchins dancing and hopping down the road. “Children, you say the emperor is dead. Tell me everything you know at once.” There was no room for argument in her voice, and the tallest boy stepped forward. “I been to see it. He’s dead and the tall knife’s broken for’ver.” At once the other children began heckling and yelling at him. “You aint! Liar!” Gradually, Lucia got the story from the children. Asherick and the Justicars had been through here. As she entered the Emperor’s palace, she saw all the proof she needed. Within the old temple to Arodan, Pilts Swastel, sat on his throne, and as the urchins had said, his chest had been run through. She stepped out of the temple and began wandering the streets, looking for sign of the Justicars. Instead, she found an elf, dark-haired and wearing a form-fitting bodysuit of chains and hooks. With her was a scared, dirty man, but he didn’t seem frightened of the elven woman. His looks of panic were behind him, toward Pilts’s palace. “Can I help you?” The elf asked. A cold smile flashed across her face. While slightly put-off, Lucia had seen worse outfits in her time as a servant of Pharasma. “Why, as a matter of fact, you can. Your…associate here seems nervous about something behind him. That wouldn’t be Swastel’s dead empire, would it? I’m looking for the people who ended his life. I want to work with them. You know anything?” After conversing with the odd pair for several minutes, Lucia was off to the Arkona’s palace. She wasn’t sure what she’d find there, but it was the best lead she had. Appearance:
Lucia is a relatively stocky, muscular half-elf. She wears her dark brown hair shoulder-length and loose, in a simple cut and with a plain tricorn hat over it (which she thinks covers her half-pointed ears but doesn't), and has brown eyes. A plain grey cloak descends from her shoulders, and a well-crafted steel breastplate covers her torso. Assorted pieces of leather armor protect her arms and legs, and linen clothing peeks out from the gaps in the armor. Lucia Selito
