Elektra Stardancer |

Felicitas does. Starting a summoning spell she summons some flying help. Using a summon Monster III to get: 1d3 ⇒ 3 Small Air elementals to attack the enemys indicated by her familiar

Brandark Plainswalker |

Brandark pauses for Elektra to cast, then continues to carefully move up the stairs

GM Mazra |

Surprise Round
Elektra summons and commands three Air Elementals that quickly fly up to the belfry to engage three particularly ugly humanoids.
Round One
Garrath's Initiative: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Elektra's Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Flynn's Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Stone's Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Brandark's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Devora's Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Ugly Humanoid's Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
The ugly humanoids are quick to respond to the small Air Elementals. They draw longswords and attack the threat.
Ugly Humanoid 1 Longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 161d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Ugly Humanoid 2 Longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 101d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Ugly Humanoid 3 Longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 151d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
But none of the ugly humanoids were able to damage the small whirling columns of air.

Devora Heidmarch |

Knowledge (Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Not having a clue about these creatures, Devora Heidmarch knocks an arrow to her shortbow, then follows the party up the tower waiting to get close enough to effectively target one the uglies.
Everybody is up for Round One. Belfry added to map.

Garrath Tricks the Giants |

Garrath follows Brandark up, careful to not be so close as to put extra weight on the stairs.

Flynn Elric |

Rise and repeat for myself until i get and enemy in my sight anyway

Brandark Plainswalker |

Brandark will double move until we get them in sight

GM Mazra |

I will go ahead and take over for Elektra's Small Air Elementals in Round One.
The first small Air Elemental turns into a Whirlwind. It tries to slams into the ugly humanoid.
Ugly Human 1 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
The Ugly Human dodges the column of air.
The second small Air Elemental follows the pattern of the first.
Ugly Human 2 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
The second Ugly Human was even more effective at dodging the small column of air.
The third small Air Elemental follows suit.
Ugly Human 3 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
And just like the previous two Ugly Humanoids, this one avoids the whirlwind.
Round Two
Ugly Humanoid 1 Longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 111d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Ugly Humanoid 2 Longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 161d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Ugly Humanoid 3 Longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 151d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
And just as before, the three humanoids attack their respective Air Elementals and miss.
@Elektra - Do you want to take over for your Air Elementals in Round Two?
Does everyone else continue to climb the tower's wobbly stairs?

Garrath Tricks the Giants |

Already stated that Garrath is following Brandark at a safe distance for the weight limits of the stairs.

GM Mazra |

As the party continues their climb up the treacherous stairs, Elektra's Small Air Elementals work to keep the three ugly humanoids busy.
They each stay in whirlwind form and try to slam into the ugly humanoids.
Ugly Humanoid 1 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Ugly Humanoid 2 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Ugly Humanoid 3 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The first and third Ugly Humanoids were unable to avoid the whirlwind slam attack. The second Ugly Humanoid barely dodged the attack.
Air Elemental 1 Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 211d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Air Elemental 3 Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The first and third Air Elementals attempt to lift the Ugly Humanoids.
Ugly Humanoid 1 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Ugly Humanoid 3 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
The first Ugly Humanoid fails to resist the Air Elemental lifting it off the stairs. The second one escaped the attempt. The first Air Elemental carries this first Ugly Humanoid toward the center of the vast hollow tower. The Air Elemental comes out of whirlwind form. The Ugly Humanoid falls. As the creature rapidly passes by the stair climbing party, you recognize the creature as a Faceless Stalker, the same type of creature that were imposters at Foxglove Townhouse. As the Faceless Stalker nearly reaches terminal velocity it hits the ground floor close to the wagon.
Falling Damage Faceless Stalker 1: 12d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 2, 3, 4, 3, 6, 4, 3, 1, 3) = 42
The first Faceless Stalker lies motionless on the ground floor.
Now in a near panic the remaining two Faceless Stalkers attack the small Air Elementals with their longswords.
Faceless Stalker 2 longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 181d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Faceless Stalker 3 longsword - Whirlwind effect: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 2 = 191d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Both remaining Faceless Stalkers do damage to the second and third small Air Elementals.
AE1 13/13, AE2 7/13, AE3 1/13
Do you keep climbing?

Flynn Elric |

Flynn keeps climbing...God dang it i starting thinking of the Ghostbusters tune

GM Mazra |

Round Three continued
As the party makes the arduous climb they are slowed by broken and missing stairs.
Now that it is three on two, the Air Elementals continues to keep the Faceless Stalkers busy.
The badly injured third Air Elemental has caught the third Faceless Stalker in its Whirlwind. It tries to lift the Faceless Stalker off the stairs, but the ugly humanoid was barely able to hold on to a piece of broken railing.
Faceless Stalker 3 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Air Elemental 3 slam attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
The second Air Elemental tries again to catch the second Faceless Stalker. But this is a nimble creature and avoids getting caught up in the Whirlwind.
Faceless Stalker 2 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Round Four
The third Faceless Stalker tries to slash again at the Air Elemental engulfing him, but is unable to make an effective attack.
Faceless Stalker 3 longsword less Whirlwind: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 2 = 91d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
The second one notices the party climbing the stairs and tries to cut the ropes holding one of the massive bells. The second Air Elemental tries to stop the Faceless Stalker.
Air Elemental 2 gets an Attack of Opportunity to catch the second Faceless Stalker in its Whirlwind. If the Faceless Stalker fails its Reflex Save, it is caught in the Whirlwind. If it makes its save, it cuts the rope holding the giant bell.
Faceless Stalker 2 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
The second Faceless Stalker is caught in the Whirlwind before it has an opportunity to cut the rope holding the bell.
Flynn in the lead, is about 60 feet below the Faceless Stalkers. Do you take any other actions? At the party's current pace, it will take another four rounds to reach the Faceless Stalkers.

Elektra Stardancer |

Taking out a scroll Elektra casts grease on the weapon of the last one of the faceless stalkers hoping it will prevent a cutting of the rope. Using her ability insightful scroll the DC is now Refl 18

GM Mazra |

There are two Faceless Stalkers remaining. One was caught up in an Air Elemental Whirlwind. The other was not. But now both are caught up in a Whirlwind. They can attack the Air Elementals. They also risk getting lifted off the ground. Which as demonstrated by the first Faceless Stalker is not a good thing.

GM Mazra |

@Elektra - The Grease spell has a 25 feet plus 5 feet for every 2 levels range (40 feet for Elektra). Elektra is about 10 feet below Flynn, or about 70 feet below the Faceless Stalkers. It will be about two more Rounds before Elektra would be close enough to cast the spell. Do you wish to try something else?

Brandark Plainswalker |

Brandark slows down slightly as his scabbards his axe, and draws out a bow almost as long as him, while he continues to move up the stairs.
That will be 2 rounds. 1 round to move and scabbard, and 1 round to move and draw the bow, I will be able to get a shot off, on the 2nd round if I have a line of fire.

GM Mazra |

The second Air Elemental attempts to lift the second Faceless Stalker off the stairs, but the ugly humanoid resisted the attempt.
Faceless Stalker 2 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
The third Air Elemental weakened from its injuries, fails to lift the third Faceless Stalker from off the stairs.
Faceless Stalker 3 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Round Five
Once again the two remaining Faceless Stalkers fail to do any damage to the Air Elementals.
Faceless Stalker 2 longsword less Whirlwind: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 2 = 141d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Faceless Stalker 3 longsword less Whirlwind: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 - 2 = 81d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Flynn reaches to about 45 feet below the Faceless Stalkers. Elektra is about 55 feet and Devora at about 65 feet below the ugly humanoids. Do you do anything different? Devora will move up one more Round, then try to fire her arrows up at the creatures.

Flynn Elric |

Flynns keeps moving, will attack with bow if possible. double move if he can't

Flynn Elric |

Composite longbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 +1 to each for PBS if they are within 30 ft as well

Garrath Tricks the Giants |

Garrath will continue to move up the stairs at full speed 40' ea round until he's in melee range.

GM Mazra |

Round Five
Both Faceless Stalkers attack the Air Elementals, but neither is able to make contact with the whirling winds.
Devora continues up the stairs behind Elektra.
Garrath continues up the stairs until Flynn stops to fire up at one of the Faceless Stalkers. Garrath passes Flynn on the stairs. It wobbles for a moment but becomes steady as the big barbarian passes.
Elektra continues up the stairs. Elektra's Air Elementals continue to try and lift the Faceless Stalkers off the stairs. The third Air Elemental succeeds in picking up the ugly humanoid. It moves to the center of the great hollow void of the tower and comes out of Whirlwind form. The third Faceless Stalker sees what's up with the concept of when reaching Terminal Velocity you come in contact with the ground.
Faceless Stalker 2 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Faceless Stalker 3 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Faceless Stalker 3 Damage on Impact: 12d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 6, 1, 4, 2, 4, 6, 3, 2, 5) = 43
The third Faceless Stalker lands next to the first one and is dying.
Flynn stops and takes aim at one of the Faceless things. The arrow sticks into the second Faceless Stalker.
Brandark also moves past Flynn. The wobble did not seem as pronounced as when Garrath passed by.
Stone loads a bolt and fires it up at the Faceless Stalkers. It too manages to hit the second Faceless Stalker. Elektra and Devora pass the Cleric without it causing any problems with the wobbly stairs.
Faceless Stalkers 25 (AC17 U,24,U/42)
Devora 20 (AC17 40/40)
Garrath 18 (AC18 56/77)
Elektra 16 (AC13 39/39)
Flynn 14 (AC19 43/43)
Brandark 9 (AC21 55/55)
Stone 6 (AC22 51/51)
Elektra is now within range of casting her Grease spell.
Round Six
The last remaining Faceless Stalkers tries feverishly to slash at the second Air Elemental. Again, it fails to make contact against the whirling winds of the second Air Elemental.
Faceless Stalker 2 longsword less Whirlwind: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 - 2 = 161d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
All these Faceless Stalkers needed is an uninterrupted Round to cut the rope on one of the giant bells to send it careening down onto the party.

Brandark Plainswalker |

Round 6
Brandark continues to move up, but with a strangely unseen longbow in his hand instead of the traditional crossbow.
If I cannot fire, I will continue to move up. If I can fire, I will take the time to fire a bowshot.

Flynn Elric |

Flynn continues to move up the stairs in an effort to get off them and fires his bow
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Garrath Tricks the Giants |

Garrath moves at a sprint up the stairs to reach the cultists as quickly as he can.

GM Mazra |

Round Six
The last Faceless Stalker fails to do any damage to the second Air Elemental.
Devora misses with a bow shot.
Garrath tries to sprint up the wobbly stairs, but quickly learns that that is not a good idea, as he burst through a rotted stair tread.
Elektra pulls out a scroll and cast Grease on the last Faceless Stalkers longsword. And though grease forms on the longsword, the ugly humanoid was able to maintain its grip on the weapon.
Faceless Stalker 2 Reflex Save - Whirlwind: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 - 2 = 21
Elektra's second Air Elemental tries to lift the last Faceless Stalker off the stairs, but the ugly humanoid resisted the attempt once again.
Faceless Stalker 2 Reflex Save - Whirlwind: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 - 2 = 18

Garrath 18 (AC18 56/77)
Elektra 16 (AC13 39/39)
Flynn 14 (AC19 43/43)
Brandark 9 (AC21 55/55)
Stone 6 (AC22 51/51)
Round Seven
Seeing the party getting closer, the last Faceless Stalker makes a desperate slash at the rope barely holding one of the bells in place. Elektra's Air Elemental tries to stop the ugly humanoid.
Faceless Stalker 2 Reflex Save - Whirlwind: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 2 = 6
But the Air Elemental lifts the third Faceless Stalker off the stairs and away from the one rope holding the bell in place. The Air Elemental comes out of whirlwind form. The Faceless Stalker falls silently for a while, rapidly passing the party, before crashing into the ground floor wagon. The sound of the crash was loud. The last Faceless Stalker is killed in the fall.
Faceless Stalker 2 Falling Damage: 12d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 2, 3, 4, 1, 6, 4, 4, 4, 4) = 45
Good job. It was close, but you prevented the Faceless Stalkers from dropping a bell on the party. That could have hurt.
