Round Four
Three of the Cave Paintings attack Kaos, Haskyll and Ulfgard. The fourth does not move.
Leira skips an arrow across the floor, it appears to cut into the Cave Painting below Haskyll.
Anga steps back and hits the Cave Painting of the Megaloceros with a Magic Missile. She continues to bleed from her wounds.
Kaos scars the painting with Gorum's Thorn. He will notice that though his attack was fierce, it did not stop the Cave Painting's movement.
Ulfgard continues to bleed.
Desperate to stop the bleeding, Haskyll channels energies to not only stop the bleeding, but also to heal. Unfortunately, the Cave Paintings seem to become healed as well.
Too far away from Haskyll, Droja cast a cure upon herself.

Round Six....well again mostly
The Auroch strikes Kaos. And the Megaloceros strikes Haskyll.
Leira once again skipped a blessed arrow across the floor. It scars the painting.
Anga drinks a potion. Her bleeding stops.
@Anga - I GMPC'd your previous actions. It destroyed the Polar Bear Cave Painting.
Kaos scratches the floor with Gorum's Thorn. The Cave Painting appears to shrivel up. It dies.
The Cave Lion Painting is as nimble in its two dimension as a real Cave Lion is nimble in its three. Ulfgard was unable to land a solid blow against the Cave Painting.
Haskyll is heroic.
Droja brings in a Fire Elemental to dance upon the Cave Lion Painting. The Painting appears to be immune to the Fire Elemental's attack.

Once everyone is gathered outside the room, and clear of the paintings Haskyll brings froth some healing.

GM NOTE: These Cave Painting creatures were given a CR4 in the module. I find that simply wrong. As two dimensional creatures they had a quality similar to incorporeal creatures. Plus they had the ability to summon in shadow versions of the creatures they represented. This was a tougher encounter than many of the Giant encounters that are at a much higher CR. CR is often based on the monster's HD. I know that there is a formula standard that exist to determine CR. But sometimes a CR needs to be further adjusted upward to take into account extraordinary abilities. I am doing so in this instance.

Thank you Haskyll and Droja. I thought graffiti was harmless. So do we have any ideas on what this room was for?

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Haskyll nods a Djora. Well done lass
He ponders for a minute.
Well, I think this room might have been for a graffiti artist to go wild, but it is all done now.
He then spends a few moments recovering the prayer spell using the level 3 pearl of power.
Shall we go back in, and determine the rooms use?

Leira |

"Wow! That was kind of a painterly fight!" Leira amuses herself as the channeled energy rushes through her body.
Leira nods to the dwarves "We first need to orientate ourselves in order to extract information here. I think what Haskyll is proposing is to grab what we found in previous cave as it might serve us as a compass"

Droja |

Droja will look at the four huge pictographic murals depicting enormous stone buildings in a variety of settings, "We have been here. We found this place first. This is where we found the Fire Geodes."
The party will recall Etena discourse, “The second was Aduromi, the Priestess of Crystals, whose veins ran hot with molten metal and who could temper steel to a hardness that would cut diamonds. She brought with her the secrets of the fire geodes, which once ignited would burn for a century."
She will keep looking at the pictographs, "We have already been here as well. There were the bricks of clay at this location. We did not gather them."
Again you will recall Etena's mad story, “The first was Mymrith the Maker, priestess of Fandarra, who prepared fallen warriors for the afterlife by anointing their bodies with sacred clay. She lined the forge with the clay to contain the fire within."
There are lines pointing to each of these locations. There are two locations where lines are pointing to as well that the party has not yet discovered.
There are three holes for the legs of the tripod.
What does the party do?

Leira |

"Let's place the tripod in those holes!" points Leira. She then looks at the other locations remaining "Those must be the other places we have to visit to relight the forge: dragon’s breath to ignite the geodes from the sacred horn Drakesbane guarded by Jogrothir the Hunter, and the Blessing of Rosag the Preserver of the Forge and great priestess of Minderhal"

![]() |

Is there a place to put the Fire Geodes? @GM Didn’t we find some kind of disc or token with the tripod?
Kaos pulls out the hammer we found in the other room and will start looking around the room for a possible use in here.

GM Mazra |

Kaos will find next to the pile of stones in the corner, a Large wooden mallet and a chisel with a wooden handle carved to resemble a cave bear. Also near the stones is a three-legged bronze tripod whose top consists of a bronze ring bisected by a worn bronze rod.
Nothing radiates magic.
This is the post that described the tripod and what was with it.

GM Mazra |

Ulfgard takes the piece of magnetite. The precision drilled hole of the magnetite fits precisely onto the brass rod of the tripod. The piece of stone spins briefly before clearly pointing in a direction.
The Dwarf Ranger will agree that this is likely north. He will also note marks in the lines on the floor. From this he will estimate that the Blessing of Rosag is to the south -southwest about ten miles as the crow flies. Drakesbane is to the east-northeast about twenty miles away.
Note lines on the Minderhal map.
Good job!
Level 10

Leira |

Leira looks impressed as Ulfgard succeeds on navigating the painting "Wow! You are great Ulfgard! Well done!"
Taking notes of where those places are the girl suggests a new destination "We might try to find first this place to the South. It seems we are closer from here"

Droja |

Droja will look at the party, "How about we head back to the west and camp again where we fought the Cave Giants. There should still be some of that stag left for roasting. We can then see if we can find this place to the south at first light."
