Overnight watches. 1st: Kaos and Leira 2nd: Ulfgard and Droja 3rd: Anga and Haskyll.
The party makes camp and sets watches. The night goes by quietly.
Day Ninety-Eight
It is still dark on this western side of the ridge when the party breaks camp.
What does the party do next?
Haskyll Stonereaver
The night before, Haskyll burns the last of his spells to ensure that everyone was hale and hearty.
In the morning.
I be thinking that we not rush into things. They have been sitting this long, a few more days, will not hurt.
Leira
Leira prepares some stale bread with water as a breakfast "I think Kaos idea has some value. We can walk to the southern location. Once finished we can teleport to some known place before heading east to the last location"
While the others make preparations, Leira studies her spells for the day and asks Anga for help to learn the tongues spell.

Seeing Leira making bread with water, Haskyll offers her one of his rations.
I can make more if we need it, Lass.
He ponders over her point.
Agreed, but thinking that we use this point as a reference to walk from.

The party breaks camp and heads down the valley to the west.
Mile after mile the party trods at a Dwarf's pace down the steep rocky slope of this side of the great ice-capped Minderhal range. Though the party scares off a lizard or two, maybe a deer along the forested edges, there were no hostile encounters throughout the day.
By evening as the sun sets over the range of mountains to the west, the party reaches a wide valley with a swift running river coursing through its heart. Tall grasses and shrubs cling to the river's edges. This larger valley aligns northwest to southeast.
Anga's Mage Armor, and Droja's False Life spells wear off.
What does the party do? Minderhal Map updated. The Hammer Agrimmosh symbol is the current location of the party.
Kaos Axe Hands
|
I'm guessing Kaos's Mage Armor would have stop as well.
Kaos will recast Mage Armor.
Do we camp here or press on?
Haskyll Stonereaver
I be thinking that we set up camp, and carry on in the morning.
Haskyll prepares and then casts create food and water for the party for a wholesome meal for the night.

on waking, Anga memorises her spells and helps Leira with her spell.
Remember that the correct word completes tha spell. Say "linguae", and make sure the pronunciation is clear ye ken.
Leira
"Oh thanks!" Leira takes good note of Anga's teachings once more.
---------------------------
Leira agrees with Haskyll and profits to test her recently learnt spell. The girl uses her arcanist pool to prepare and cast secure shelter for the night.
A sturdy cottage of stone materializes in front of the group's eyes. The floor is level, clean, and dry. The lodging has a sturdy door, two shuttered windows, and it is equipped with a small fireplace "Ah! This is much more comfortable than our rope trick previous lodging, isn't it?"
Leira helps to set Haskyll's created food and water with dishes and glasses "While we are far away from home this helps a lot to feel home. You are family now..."
GM Mazra
Overnight watches. 1st: Kaos and Leira 2nd: Ulfgard and Droja 3rd: Anga and Haskyll.
The party has a pleasant nights rest without encounter and thanks to Leira, greater comfort that what has been typical.
Day Ninety-Nine
No luftballoons!
Again the party breaks camp before the sun's light shines into the valley. The fast running river's water is fresh and pure. The party heads southeast following a trail that is wide enough to be considered a road. About mid-morning the party comes across several mountain streams that converge where a side canyon intersects with the main valley. Widely spaced structures built from thick coils of clay and stone stand upon a black-soiled floodplain here. What few buildings remain standing resemble tremendous beehives, but the great majority lie in heaped piles of rubble.
Leira and Ulfgard notice Hill Giants ahead. They appear to be searching the bee-hive like structures. They do not notice the party.
What does the party do?
I have a new map up called Rocky Trail. The rock on the map represent the beehive like structures and their ruins. The river is just off the map to the south. Each square is ten feet across, about three meters.
Kaos Axe Hands

Kaos puts up a shield and shifts into his dragonoid shape. Then tries to move stealthfuly forward.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Stealth=1 rank,3 in class,2 Dex,2 trait bonus
25AC=10+ 4 MA,2 dex,1 dodge,4 natural,4 shield spell
13 Touch 22 FF
I know this is a silly question but has everybody raised there character to 10th level?
Leira
On the morning Leira will prepare the same spells as the day before.
As the group spots the giants she proposes "Or... we could try just to avoid them!"
But knowing this will end into a fight, she does cast enlarge person on Ulfgard before she sneaks into a sniper position at the southern bushes where she might be able to surprise the giants.
Stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
Anga Runedaughter
Start of day, Anga casts Mage armour
Nay, tha' world is better with fewer giants. Old Dwarven truism.
She pulls out a scroll and casts shield

Kaos' Iniative:: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Droja's Iniative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (9) + 0 = 9
Hill Giant's Initiative: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Droja starts her day by adding a bit of additional life force:
Droja's False Life: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Surprise Rounds
Anga pulls out a scroll and puts up a Shield.
Kaos put up a Shield and tries to move stealthily forward. The first Hill Giant was too distracted to notice Kaos' movement. Blacky and Hill Giant 3 are too far away and also distracted. However, Hill Giant two hears Kaos' approach.
Hill Giant 1 Distracted Perception: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 4 = 11
Hill Giant 2 Distracted Perception: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 6 - 4 = 17
Ulfgard agrees it is time to take action.
Leira cast an Enlarge spell on Ulfgard and then seeks a sniper position in the bushes. She is more successful in her ability to sneak than Kaos.
When the party comes across Hill Giants Droja whispers out in her Orcish dialect, "Nasty creatures, Hill Giants." She begins to summon in some help.
Haskyll is heroic.

Round One
Ta Ta! Moving On.
Anga sends a Fireball out to the nearest Hill Giant. It erupts. The Hill Giant tries to duck under the flames, but is swept up by the Fireball's full force.
Hill Giant 2 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
The Dragon Disciple takes flight. The second Hill Giant believes it is being attacked by a Dragon.
Ulfgard advances toward the first Hill Giant. The Dwarf Ranger becomes Enlarged by the end of his run.
Leira casts an illusion. She creates what amounts to the earth splitting up, a volcano arising spewing forth its hot magma.
Seeing Leira's illusion, Droja shifts slightly the location of where she brings in an Elemental. This time the Elemental is larger than she has ever summoned before. It appears atop a beehive-like ruin in front of the Half-Orc Oracle.
Droja calls out in the Ignan language to attack. The Large Fire Elemental briefly looks at Droja, nods in the affirmative, and moves across the thick brush toward the second Hill Giant. Fires begin to form in the brush as the Large Fire Elemental passes.
The stronger Haskyll blesses the party.
The second Hill Giant has seen and felt enough. It withdraws from the scene, exit stage left.
Seeing the second one run, the first one decides that may be a good idea in light of what it has seen.
The third agrees.
Blackie is a bit more brave, but seeing the other three flee, it decides to join them.
All the Hill Giants run away. One and Blackie would make it off the map. Two and Three would be still on the map.

Round Two
The Hill Giants are running away.
What does the party do?.
BTW-There is a revised token for Kaos on the board.
Leira
Leira double moves through the bushes to see how the giants run "And do not return or Hell itself will open up again to eat you!"
The girl will not do much more as long as the giants do not turn to look at the fire elementals running after them.
Haskyll Stonereaver
Seeing them run, Haskyll walks sedately over to their camp to start looking things over.
I wonder if this was temporary, or if they are off to give someone a notice that we are on route.

Round Two...well again mostly
@Anga - We will be moving to a Round Three with the party in pursuit of the Hill Giants. Please post both your Round Two and Three actions. Thanks.
Kaos charges, I mean flies, I mean both at the second Hill Giant. He rains Gorum's Thorn down on the hapless big lug.
Ulfgard chases after the Hill Giants.
Leira moves through the fiery brush as she calls out the the fleeing Giants.
Haskyll move toward the ruins and looks around.
Droja calls out in Ignan, or at least the best she can muster in this strange language the idea to chase the Hill Giants dto own. The large Fire Elemental moves toward the third fleeing Hill Giant. She then moves further down the road.
More out of a sense of fear than bravery, the second Hill Giant turns around and attacks the flying Dragon Disciple. Its first attack glances off Kaos' magical armor. But the second Hill Giant hit Kaos solidly on its back swing. It was more luck than anything else, but it was nearly a critical blow.
Hill Giant 2 Greatclub and PA Attack 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 222d8 + 16 ⇒ (6, 1) + 16 = 23
Hill Giant 2 Greatclub and PA Attack 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 272d8 + 16 ⇒ (3, 3) + 16 = 22
Hill Giant 2 Greatclub and PA Attack 2 Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 102d8 + 16 ⇒ (6, 7) + 16 = 29
Kaos took 22 points of damage. Thanks for posting your adjusted AC.
The third Hill Giant takes the second one's actions as incredible bravery. Little does it know that the second one response was more a reaction like shooing away a stinging wasp. It turns and attacks the approaching Fire Elemental. It displaces the fiery creature's form causing damage to this infernal entity.
Hill Giant 3 Greatclub and PA Attack 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 312d8 + 16 ⇒ (1, 7) + 16 = 24
Hill Giant 3 Greatclub and PA Attack 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 202d8 + 16 ⇒ (7, 7) + 16 = 30
Both attacks hit. The Fire Elemental takes 54 points of damage less 5 points for each blow due to DR.
The first Hill Giant spurned on now by an emboldened Blacky, turns around and moves toward the approaching Large Dwarf oxymoron. It attacks. But even Enlarged Dwarves are trained to dodge Giant attacks. Ulfgard just ducked under the massive club's potential strike.
Hill Giant 1 Greatclub and PA Attack 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 252d8 + 16 ⇒ (7, 4) + 16 = 27
Now Blacky is a bit larger Hill Giant and wields a scythe. He too turns and moves for an attack. But he wants a piece of that little flying dragon. The Hill Giant leader slices into the Dragon Disciple with its massive Scythe. This weapon is large and a fine example of its kind.
Hill Giant Blacky Scythe, PA, Vital Strike Attack 1: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 274d6 + 19 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 4) + 19 = 37
Kaos takes 37 points of damage.
Anga 22 (AC17/MA21/G25/SH29 67/67)
Kaos 17 (AC20/MA21/SH25 53/112)
Ulfgard 13 (AC22/G26 115/115)
Leira 10 (AC19 69/69)
Droja 9 (AC18 67(78)/67(78)FL
Large Fire Elemental (AC19 16/60)
Haskyll 9 (AC21/G25 71/71)
Hill Giants 9 (AC21 85,20,85/85)
Blacky (AC? ?/?)
Round Three
@Anga - I can retcon your actions, but keep in mind that the current location of the Giants on the map is at the end of Round Three. Giants 2 and 3 are at the same location. Blacky and Giant 1 were slightly off map in Rounds 2 and the start of Round 3.
GM Note: The problem with this format is the lack of intercommunication between the players at a table. Half the party pursued the fleeing Giants and half did not. There is a realism to this though, for in real life, different people may react differently to a situation. Kaos and Ulfgard are like, "no you don't" and chases them down. Where Haskyll and Leira were ready to let them flee. I could see a Haskyll for instance roll his eyes and now go after the Giants as well.
Kaos Axe Hands
|
Kaos smiles and spits out some blood.Well I see you have found your backbone. You may regret that.
Kaos flies back five then takes a deep breath and spits again but this time a small red bead that lands behind the giants. Then explodes catching at least the bottom three.
Fireball DC17: 8d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 2, 1, 4, 6, 2) + 8 = 38
I took a little creative license on the descriptor. But it's just a standard Fireball
Leira
The situation has indeed its realism by being less coordinated :D
"Oh well" Leira keeps moving forward and shots her crossbow at black.
Giant bane crossbow+DA+bless: 1d20 + 13 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 13 - 2 + 1 = 27
Piercing/Magical damage+DA+PB+AS+bane: 1d10 + 4 + 4 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 4 + 3 + (4, 4) = 24

Upon further review of the map it appears that I can affect all four of the Giants with that fireball.
GM Mazra
Let's see how many took the full brunt of the Fireball.
Hill Giant 1 Reflex Save needs 17: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Hill Giant 2 Reflex Save needs 17: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Hill Giant 3 Reflex Save needs 17: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Hill Giant Blackie Reflex Save needs 17: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The first Hill Giant dodged it. The second one was nearly killed by it.

Attack: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (11) + 23 = 343d6 + 28 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) + 28 = 40
twice
Attack: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (19) + 23 = 423d6 + 28 ⇒ (6, 6, 3) + 28 = 43
and once more for good measure.
Attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 203d6 + 28 ⇒ (2, 4, 4) + 28 = 38
Confirm: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 396d6 + 54 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 5, 5, 2) + 54 = 73
before removing his hand from the hilt and with a flick swinging his shield back in place.
Seeing that crit, I think the last attack goes into the other giant in Ulfgards reach. I mean if the crit hit he took 116 damage
Anga Runedaughter
ouch! Isn't there a special magical effect if that hammer Crits? I vaguely remember that. Assuming the giant is still standing
Haskyll Stonereaver
There was something with Aggrimosh. You are holding the legendary hammer Agrimmosh, the Hammer of Unmaking. The stone giants of the Mindspin Mountains believe that the giant god Minderhal used his hammer Agrimmosh to forge the first giant. This creation was imperfect, however, so he crafted another and granted it life, creating the first stone giant. Pleased with what he had now wrought, Minderhal pulverized his first creation with a final blow of the Hammer of Unmaking, and its pieces became all of the other races of giants that came to populate the world. Agrimmosh appears to be a simple stone blacksmith’s hammer engraved with Minderhal’s holy symbol. It functions as a +2 impact Warhammer that automatically re-sizes itself to match the size of its wielder. Once per day as a full-round action, the wielder of Agrimmosh can use the hammer to cast heightened enlarge person (Fortitude DC 23 negates). This effect lasts for 20 minutes. Whenever the wielder of Agrimmosh confirms a critical hit against a creature of the humanoid type, the target creature must succeed at a DC 23 Fortitude save or shrink by one size category, as by heightened reduce person. This effect lasts for 20 minutes. Haskyll believes there maybe more, but something has to be done to open up further effects. Haskyll does not know what that something is, yet.
