Leira |

It might not mean any difference, but remember elementals are usually immune to critical hits ;)
Leira blames herself for being so lame to think the aquatic creatures will not see her and cries in pain as she is struck by their claws.
Impulsive as always, the girl creates a magical crack in the space with her free hand and goes through with a dimensional slide appearing just behind the monsters in a flanking position with Kaos. I do believe she is flanking #4 now

Haskyll Stonereaver |

My tablet is not letting me see my character as I wanted to look at the map. It probably moved the maps as well.
Haskell moves up to where he can get both sides in the area.
He then brings forth a prayer for the party.

Something Special |

I moved Haskyll up using a move action. This would catch all party members and all monsters except the Aquatic Humanoid number 2 in the Prayer. As you noted, mobile devices do not work well with Google Drawings. I have had similar issues. However, I noted that the back button does work, so you can use this to reverse any errant moving of the maps. I have done this way too many times myself. Map has been readjusted.
Round Two Complete
Haskyll swims up some and says a Prayer for the party.
The Crustacean-like creature attacks Anga with its pincer-like claws. It barely strikes Anga with its first claw. It missed with its second. However, it has managed to grab Anga into its first claw.

@Leira - Oops. I did forget this. Ironically, I had remembered it earlier. My old age is begin to show. Your Elemental is still on the board with 7 HPs. You can attack with it in Round Three. Thanks for catching that. By the way, it is the second and third ones that are still up. I noted the second one as unconscious. The first and fourth ones are unconscious. You would have Dimensional Slide to one still kicking for your flank.

Droja |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Round Three
Suddenly a massive Dolphin, the largest of its kind, an Orca. Also known as a Killer Whale appears in the massive room. The creature shimmers with all types of colors in a chaotic pattern. It attacks the lobster-like aberration. But misses its bite as it swims near.
Orca bite: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 182d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 4) + 12 = 22
Droja swims a bit closer. She smiles to herself seeing the sudden appearance of such a massive underwater creature, "We might survive this afterall."

Anga Runedaughter |

Erk! Little help!
you know, I was going to cast shield, but didn't. If I had, it would have missed. Sigh

Leira |

I think Leira would sneak attack on #3 but #1 is ok too!

Anga Runedaughter |

I know what you are doing with the damage, ulfgard, but I started when it seemed you did 2211 damage. :D btw, wouldn'tthe shield damage be halved too?

Something Special |

Round Three....well mostly
Leira hesitates while her wounded Water Elemental slams into the second Fresh Water Merrow. Yes, Leira recalls these creatures. She also notice that these Merrows operate with greater precision than what is typical of their kind. Leira believes that they may have combat training of some kind. Leira still does not know the other creature currently grappling with Anga.
BTW-The first Merrow is unconscious.
Kaos swims a stroke and attacks the higher in the water third Fresh Water Merrow. Twice his pick pierces the creature.
Leira then slides through a dimensional space coming up behind the third one. She drives her weapon into the creature. It rolls back unconscious, but still breathing under the water.
Three down, one to go!
A shimmering Killer Whale appears and attacks the lobster-like creature. It simply missed sinking its teeth into the crustacean.
Droja swims closer to the action.
Now fighting for its life, the second Fresh Water Merrow continues to claw into the Water Elemental. It does little harm with right, but strike enough to send the Water Elemental home with its left.

Ulfgard pounds on the crustacean with his hammer, then jabs it with his spiked shield hoping to make it give up its prey, aka Anga.
But the lobster-like creature doesn't do so. Instead it transfers Anga from its claws to strands of tentacles that looks almost like a long beard flowing from the head of this creature, not unlike the party's Dwarven Cleric.
Tentacle Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
In addition to taking 9 more points of damage, Anga must make a DC19 Fort save.
The crustacean then attacks Ulfgard with its free claw, but failed to snatch Ulfgard.

Round 3
Haskyll moves up - 10', and casts spear of purity.
Is it evil??
Round 4
Haskyll moves up some more, and tries to stab the overgrown lobster.
Will do all the rolls, as soon as I have an answer on the evil

Haskyll Stonereaver |

The reason for the ask, is the amount and type of damage done, if evil. Still casting the spell though, that hasn't changed. Please see Spear of Purity, Ultimate Magic, Page 240.

GM Mazra |

Round Three Complete
As Anga becomes paralyzed, Haskyll asks for and receives a spear made of pure good energy. The Dwarf Cleric throws the spears at the lobster-like abomination. The spear touches the creature its seems to reel in pain from the strike.
@Haskyll-The creature is evil, and you guessed correctly that it was not an Outsider. Had the creature been Neutral, the spell would have done no damage. In the future when casting this spell, go ahead and roll both contingencies 5d8 and 10d6 if you are uncertain whether they are evil or an evil Outsider. Then I will apply whichever would be appropriate, or nothing. Now if you already know they are evil or an evil Outsider, then that would be different. The reason I do insist upon this is that there could be an encounter where the creature was actually Neutral, and then the spell would do no damage, or an Outsider and do the 10d6. Without a prior detect spell or another method to know the alignment, Haskyll would not know. The Spear of Purity simply does not give the wielder the additional ability to Detect Evil, or even determine if the creature is an Outsider. Thanks.
Round Four
As Kaos approaches the last Freshwater Merrow, the Merrow claws at the approaching Dragon Disciple.
Merrow 2 AoO Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 281d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Kaos takes ten points of damage while approaching the second Merrow.
This was truly just a flesh wound when compared to the murderous strike that Kaos delivers to the massive Aquatic humanoid. The Dragon Disciples Cold Iron Pick pierces the Merrows throat severing a large jugular vein. The Merrow dies quickly, blood pouring out into the room.
Leira dimensional slides closer to the large Crustacean. She tries to hit the creature with a Scorching Ray, but the waters were too much for the spell to be effective.
Droja's Orca takes a massive bite out of the Crustacean. The lobster-like creature is thinking that it should have stayed in its hiding place.
Ulfgard bashes and bashes again with Agrimmosh, but the attacks with this amazing weapon does nothing to the lobster-like creature. However, the Dwarf Ranger was able to find an opening and drive his shield into the Crustacean's head. The spike from the shield pierces into the creature's brain. It dies quickly.
Anga is freed from the Crustacean's grasp, but the Dwarf Mage just floats in the water without moving.

Yay we win. @GM Kaos actually has 112 hp so he would be down to 102.

She then renews her dancing lights and send them forward to the south eastern area.

@ Mazra, no problem on the multichoice spells. Roll all options, and let you choose the damage as appropriate. :)
Haskyll swims over to Anga, and gives a check, then pauses for a moment.
I can remove this, but I need a bubble of air around my pack so I can pull out a scroll and use it, Can someone help with that.

@GM Kaos actually has 112 hp so he would be down to 102.
This is a good reminder to look at the recap template below. If your characters stats are incorrect, please let me know.

Now that the fight is over Kaos takes time to look in the chamber where the Merrows appeared to be searching for something. The Dragon Disciple see a worn, algae-coated statue of an enormous humanoid figure standing at the back of this chamber. The statue holds a large circular disk and is flanked by a pair of stone menhirs (think Stonehenge).
Kaos will note that two of the Merrows has died, one appears to have stabilized unconscious. In addition, one of the dead merrows had a ring. Another had two chunks of chrysoberyl worth 150 gp each. Kaos will note that the statue's eyes look blank, and that these two chunks of chrysoberyl would fit into the cavities. This Merrow had apparently just pried these gems from the statue. Three of the Merrows had javelins. The other had a trident. The ring, javelins, and trident all radiate magic.
Meanwhile, Anga is searching the next chamber over clockwise from the one Kaos is in. Much of this room has collapsed. Large blocks protrude through the outer walls and several have settled in the middle of the chamber. A giant metal brazier frosted in a green patina stands on its side, wedged in place against the roof.
Haskyll is looking for some assistance to help Anga. Droja comes over to assist the Dwarf Cleric.

Droja |

Droja swims over to assist Haskyll, "I am unable to call forth an Air Bubble as you have done."
While Haskyll and Droja tries to come up with a solution for helping Anga, the Dwarf Mage's paralysis comes to an end.
Anga begins to swim and move as before.
The Paralysis last for six rounds.

GM Mazra |

Let's try this again. It looks like I had copied your earlier stats when setting up this encounter.

Leira 23 (AC19 54/69)
Droja 20 (AC16 67(82)/67(82FL)

Anga 8 (AC17/MA21/G25 46/67)
Haskyll 6 (AC21/G25 72/72)
Now, let me know if the above is correct. And BTW Haskyll, thanks!

GM Mazra |

When Kaos works to remove the algae from the statue, he will note that the large circular disk the statue is holding is not stone, but instead made of mithril. Because of the algae one could not tell it was of another material unless you removed the algae. On the circular mithril disk is writings.
This may not be the place to study magic items for identification, or attempt to decipher the writings on the mithril disk for that matter.

Leira |

Leira helps Kaos pick up the valuable items, the brazier and the mithril disk for later examination.
I will roll once we are out of water

This format scrambles actions particularly out of combat. I will have Haskyll channel energy before Leira searches the Southwest chamber. Also, I had Leira taking 26 points of total damage, 13 from the Merrows and 13 from the ceiling collapse. And it was removing the brazier that caused the ceiling collapse. Again, scrambled actions out of combat and in the PBP format. Everyone was doing different things. Kaos was in one room, Leira another, and the rest was helping Anga.
After a little healing, Leira searches the last room. This was the lobster-like creatures nesting area. Leira will find a number of items scattered about the room. It appears that that creature was an adept hunter. You will find a waterlogged suit of hide armor, a masterwork heavy mace, a belt, a stick that shows no sign of decay, a couple of stoppered flask, a scroll case, three malachites worth 10 gp each, a tourmaline worth 120 gp, and finally scattered about 24 gp, 732 sp, 419 cp.
