Round Seven recap
The Flood Troll dodges Ulfgard's strike.
But falls into Kaos' Big Swing, Big Axe. Fear returns to its face.
Anga hits the beast once more with a Force Missile, but this time with feelings.
The Flood Troll drops dead.
Flood Troll defeated.
The Young Man looks up in terror at the party, his manacles locked and chained to the furnace.
DC 20 Disabled Devise is needed to pick the lock.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15Add 2 if odd stonework
Well, I am glad that thing is done, Ulfgard, come over here so I don't accidentally wake that thing up. As for you laddie, we will be with ya in a second.
When Ulfgard comes over away from the troll.
Torag don't joke with us, give us your help
channel: 1d6 ⇒ 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
channel: 1d6 ⇒ 1
1 channel remaining, burning Shield of faith for CLW. Of course the dice are after us through my low rolls. :(

Ragnir Brightaxe |

Ragnir spits, "Blasted Troll, rot where you lie." He then looks over at the scared spitless youth, and shakes his head "Quit yer gawpin' lad, we're not for hurtin' ya." He then looks about the room.
Can we take 10 or 20 on perception now that the troll is dead?
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 Ha! Not necessary :D

Ragnir Brightaxe |

"Bah, bloody shoddy work if they're lookin' ta keep this door hidden" Ragnir points out the secret door, and then looks back "Anyone able ta be checkin' for traps?

Anga Runedaughter |

should we burn the troll? Ah remember they have a bad habit of healing quick.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

I see that am busy having an argument with the dice gods, so I cannot help with the burning. :)
Edit, I was tired when I posted the healing. The CLW should have 1 more on it, for a total of 8.

Let's search it first then put it in the furnace. perception check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
He will then look at the boy in the corner. What are you doing down here?diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Othdan |

In addition to the secret door, the party will find a sack containing 55 platinum pieces buried under a pile of coal.
Before placing the body of the Flood Troll in the furnace, you find a small pouch hidden within the folds of the tattered foul smelling garment of this hideous female creature.
The party will find 10 Beryls (50gp each) and an Aquamarine (250gp).
The boy will look at Kaos, then look down at the manacles, "Can you help me with these? He will then sigh, "I have been sneaking down to the Plague House for a few weeks looking for lost coin." He stares at the sack of platinum and sighs again, "I missed that." He sighs yet again, " That Half-Orc found me and knocked me out. I woke up chained to this furnace."

Othdan |

"Do you mind," the youth looks down at the manacles. "I don't know that Half-Orc. I have seen him around town before. I saw that Troll once before here in the Plague House." He looks over at the creature on the floor. He hesitates when he notice the body twitching in a puddle. "I don't think that thing is dead," he says with more than a hint of trepidation.

Ragnir Brightaxe |

Having searched the furnace and found the hidden bag of coin, Ragnir takes the back end of his axe and slams the spiked end through the trolls head to stop it from moving, and then stuffs it in the furnace.
"Don't ken that anythin'll move much more if you stick it in there" Ragnir then lights the furnace, or stokes the fire.

Othdan |

As Ragnir puts the spike end of his axe into the Flood Troll's head; the brittle iron of the manacles splinters away from Kaos' and Ulfgard's masterkeys. The boy or young human is free.
Ragnir throws the Flood Troll into the furnace with some coal and lights up the contraption.
The boy continues his response to Kaos' questions, "I saw that town's guardsmen with that red headed Half-Orc. I can't believe he would kill himself over a Half-Orc. And then there was that blonde haired Half-Orc that scrawled something on the wall upstairs. I don't know what it says." Kaos senses that the boy is honest, even brutally so.
The smell of burning Troll is not a pleasant aroma.
Where do you go?

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Haskyll quickly bags the coins and gems. I will sort this for you all when we return to town.
As he roughly checks the human kid over for injuries.
heal: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Lad, can you show us where the blond orc wrote on the wall, after we have finished checking this place out.
I think I got the treasure page sorted out with what we have found.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Haskyll fishes out a trail ration and passes it to Othdan.
Stay in the middle of the group and you will be fine, but we got to move now, how about that way.
Haskyll points to the door to the east

Anga Runedaughter |

ha we seen whut was written upstairs? If not, let's have a wee look.

GM Mazra |

Here is the previous post about the writings.
As Ulfgard looks further down the twenty-foot wide area, he sees a great hall. The support walls and pillars that once connected the Plague House to the huge boulder behind it have burnt and crumbled in this ruined chamber, revealing nearly the entire face of the monolithic stone as well as much of the sky above. Jagged red runes have been painted onto the rock in long, broad strokes that reach from top to bottom. A cabinet on the southeast wall and a tall bookcase against the northeastern wall are all that remain of the room’s furnishings.
** spoiler omitted **
** spoiler omitted **
Everyone that enters the hall roll the Perception check below. You can't "take 20".
** spoiler omitted **
The jagged red runes spelled out "Skreed."

GM Mazra |

The stack to the furnace appears detached. Knowledge (Engineering) DC15 to know how to repair.
Ulfgard's Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Ulfgard sees nothing unusual about the East door. When he opens it, he sees that this once-grand flagstone hall is filled with statues of different celestial creatures in every corner. An old fire pit in the center of the room is bordered on all sides by moth-eaten bedrolls while shovels, picks, and other digging equipment lie strewn about a shallow tunnel bored into the northeastern wall. The ceiling above the tunnel has collapsed, leaving a hole open to the sky above a pile of burnt rubble.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

And yet, why would they leave good gear here.
Haskyll walks over to the firepit and then looks around.
percept: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7add 2 for stonework
sigh and my lonely fight against the dreaded die roller continues.

GM Mazra |

As you move into the room the stench of death becomes greater. Haskyll sees the mostly covered body of a Half-Orc in the shallow tunnel. But then from amongst the rubble and abandoned gear you stumbles on some rats, hideous rats unlike any you have ever seen. They strike!
I have Haskyll and Ulfgard up front on the map. Rats are small, so you may need to zoom in a couple of times to see them.
Surprise Round
Two of three rats bite at, but only at Haskyll and Ulfgard.
Rat 1 Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 71d3 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
Rat 2 Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d3 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Round One
Kaos Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Anga Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Ulfgard Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Haskyll Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
Ragnir Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Rat’s Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Kaos goes first, then Haskyll, Rats (Dex), Anga, Ulfgard finally Ragnir.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Round 1
Haskyll drops his spear, and draws his warhammer to squish a rat.
rat thumping: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Anga Runedaughter |

Ooh, tricky. But ah have the answer to that.
force missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
force missiles act like magic missiles, affecting incorporeal targets fully
The bolt only strikes a glancing blow.

GM Mazra |

Round One recap
Kaos will step up and not squish a rat.
Hasyll, however, squished a rat.
The rat on Ulfgard once again fails to bite through his boot.
A third rat strangely turns incorporeal.
Seeing the one rat become ghostly, the Dwarf Wizard had an answer for that, and sends a Force Missile at the undead rat. It lets out an eery squeal.
Ulfgard more than tries to hit the rat, he too squishes one.
Ragnir was unable to move into the fray.
Round Two

Darn rat stay still
rat dance: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
I'm telling myself that this is a good thing. Maybe if I can get all the bad rolls out now....(Don't burst my bubble)

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Seeing the ghostly rat, Haskyll steps back and claps Ulfgard on the shoulder.
Torag says your up
5' adjust away from the rat, standard cast magic weapon on ulfgards weapon. Now down to just domain spell. :(

Anga Runedaughter |

Last missile
Anga looses another bolt at the ghostly rat
force missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

GM Mazra |

That will do it.
The body of this Half-Orc has been both eaten and is rotting away. Its condition is a gruesome sight.
On the body you will find a Wand, a fine silver dagger, six polished pieces of black onyx (25gp each), and a yellow and red gold trinket in the shape of a double-axe. The red gold portions look like blood.
Where do you go next?

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Taking 10 on religion for 17
After holding down his bile, Haskyll looks at the others.
I wonder what was a follower of Nulgreth doing here.
He then gathers up the equipment and gems, I guess we will look these over back at the ramblehouse.
After gathering everything, Haskyll then takes a moment to cast detect magic.
I am guessing south. :)
