Closing the door on the moving mass of bats, the group can hear their wings beating on the door for a few moments before the sound dies down.
Returning to the stairs, the group can move up to the next floor, slowing when the door comes into view. Kalri Perception: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 = 21 Kalri slides up to the door and listens to the door and can hear the strange voice of what sounds to be more troglodytes, at least 2 of them.
The stairs do continue up, from what you remember from the outside the next floor should be the last floor.

![]() |

"Let's not leave these behind us," Taliesin implores. "Everyone get ready!"
The bard seems extremely relieved not to be fighting the bats.
"Oh, but these stink so bad!" she says.

![]() |

Silently as he can, Kalari relays to the others what he's heard, stepping aside to take his place in line.

![]() |

"Everyone ready? not really waiting for a reply Kerastes casts guidance and opens the door. He has his longspear in hand.

![]() |

Kalari grips his rapier tightly, following on the heels of his resilient crystalline companion. "I am with you, Kerastes."

![]() |

Engleaktig casts Guidance on Taliesin before Kerastes opens the door. (I guess the cleric would cast it when Kerastes casts his own.) While Kerastes opens the door, the aasimar readies an action to channel, if needed.

![]() |

"I've noticed we seem to spend a lot of time waiting to open doors," Taliesin whispers loudly. "I'm kind of new to this, so this may be a dumb question...but is there a reason we don't just go in?" she asks.

![]() |

Kerastes quickly shuts the door again and turns to the bard
"We were just entering this room! Shall we evaluate our actions later? Not while we are in the midst of them?"
he turns back and reopens the door.

![]() |

I just could not waste this opportunity (and it fits the thoughtful manner that I envision for Kerastes)

GM Tobi |

lol
Throwing open the door, you are immediately assaulted by the overpowering stench that is becoming all too familiar, troglodytes.
Taliesin: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 + 1 = 12

Rhu: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Taliesin, Kalri, and Kerastes all begin to hack and retch at the smell while the others seem to manage.
Within the room, crude bunks take up most of the floor space in this room. A pair of bunks are occupied by troglodytes that seem to be playing a strange dice game, while another lounges against the southern wall.

Baru seizes the advantage and runs inside, ahead of the group. He stops when he knows he has the distance to affect 2 of the 3 trogs. He waves his hands and blurts out an incantation...

Since the trogs are flat-footed, Engleaktig double moves to set up the flank on the trog with the blue outline towards the bottom of the room. Am presuming that Baru color sprays the other two since he cannot get all three given their positions on the map.

"Kerastes, clear the lane."
If Kerastes moves out of the way, Rhu will take a 5' step forward and shoot at the green trog. If not, he'll take -4 on his shots due to cover.

Taliesin dry heaves at the door, loathe to enter the room.
But her banner somehow inspires the heroes to fight on.
Don't forget +1/+1 attack/dmg.
Somehow she manages to cast a cantrip at one of the troglodytes. unwitting ally at green trog, DC 15 will save

Green - Color Spray: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6

Baru surprisingly rushes into the room, calling out words of power as he stops before the two trogs, their dice game interupted. Baru's hands fly forward and a blinding mash of colors stream from his fingers, and when the colors die away, the trogs crumble to the ground, unmoving but breathing.
Taliesin, since your original target is down, I switched it to the remaining one.
Kerastes moves out of the way just enough for Rhu to fire off a pair of arrow. The first flies way wide, clattering against the stone wall, while the other skips along the trog's scales, leaving a fine line but no blood.
Kalri darts into the room, surrounding a remaining active trog as the creature seems to blink slightly as some effect passes over him. Kalri's rapier cuts a fine line in the creature's side.

GM Tobi |

Kerastes's spear stabs by the troglodyte missing it's target.
The trogs move before Kalri, Engleaktig and Rhu posts, so I'll keep those actions and rolls or you can redo them once the trog's turn is over.
The troglodyte looks over at the unconsious forms of his companions before turning to the door he was by and flinging it open and trying to run through drawing an attack from Engleaktig.
You hear him calling into the next room as he runs.
Tulok, Tulok! Homans come into tower, others are dead. Come kill humans!
Glancing into the next room you can see a brazier of glowing coals sitting in the center of the room. The acrid smoke mixes with the ever-present troglodyte stench. Knives, pokers, and other metal implements lie atop a rusty iron box nearby.
At the sound of the troglodyte's calls, a hulking, brutish figure rises from near the fire. The creature is much larger than the other trogs, possibly bigger than most adults.
Tulok init: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11

Seeing the last conscious troglodyte run for reinforcements, Taliesin takes one large breath, runs to the doorway, and looks at the large troglodyte.
"Sorry, we're busy right now! If you'll take a seat, we'll be with you shortly!" she says. With a gesture and a beautiful note, grease forms beneath their feet.
DC 16 Reflex save. Targeting the two trogs and the two squares to their west.

![]() |

Baru tries to stifle his chuckle and grin after hearing Taliesin's sarcasm. He then translates the Draconic yells of the troglodyte to Tulok, for the party.
"It would appear stinky there is interested in getting his big brother, Tulok, involved in our affairs. He clearly conveyed his intend to see us freed from our mortal chains... sorry, i'll try to avoid big words for any celestial types." Peering smartly back at Engleaktig. "He plans on killing us!"

![]() |

If the one that moved away from Eng provoked, did it provoke from me as well? We were flanking it together. If so use my roll up there. :)

Kalari moves straight toward the pair of beasts bothering the archer and sorcerer. As he approaches he rolls acrobatically to avoid provoking one of the beast's wrath in order to gain a flanking position.

GM Tobi |

Yes sorry, Red and Green trogs are both unconscious due to color spray, so if you'd like to change actions that fine. And Kalri, I didn't take an AoO from you due to you had to move up to the into flank, and the trog had his turn before you, but kerastes still had yet to act.

Kalri, watches teh unconsious trogs waiting to finish them off, while Kerastes moves up waiting for Tulok to make a move. As the two face off, Rhu slips into the room and releases an arrow that pierces the trog's scales, bringing out a cry as the creature attempts to move toward Rhu.
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
Managing to move carefully, Tulok can't defend himself against the powerful thrust of Kerastes's spear as it pierces through the creature's chest. "You are all so great at what you do! What better companions could anyone wish for!" the bard adds.
"Let's try the last two doors on this level, then go upstairs. We must be reaching the top soon!"

GM Tobi |

Searching through the first room the one with the bunks nothing of interest can be found, but searching Tulok's room you find that the trog has a key tied to his breaches.
Checking out the iron box, you find equipment for a medium creature; Masterwork studded leather armor, masterwork buckler, masterwork rapier, shortbow with 15 arrows, 2 scrolls, a strange looking compass, and a climber's kit.
Checking out the door in the eastern wall, you don't see anything that would point to a trap, so carefully you open it. Inside is a small room, that looks to have been used as a sort of cell, you see a hunched figure that flinches at the door opening.
Just get it over with, bea....
The man's voice trails off as he finally turns, his eyes blinking at the light. Finally realization hits and you can see a sudden surge of joy pass over the man.
Please, please you have to help me. I'm Balenar, a Pathfinder from Absalom. Please if you have the key free me, just let me out of this place.
As he talks, he thrusts his hands toward you, a rusty set of manacle locks them together. You can see that Belenar is covered in bruises and cuts, dried blood covering his body.
