With a turn of the key and a click, the manacles fall off of Balenar's wrists. he gingerly rubs them as he stands and stretches a bit, noticing Rhu's Wayfinder.
Ah, a fellow Pathfinder, well met. He smiles widely at Baru's comment as he eagerly takes the offered food and continues after he wolfs down a few bites. You are all quiet correct. I came here after hearing rumors that this tower had been opened up, hoping to explore it a bit and report back to my lodge. Unfortunately, I wasn't the first one here. As I was exploring, those filthy beasts captured me and have been keeping me here for a few days now... it's hard to tell how long. There's no light here, so I can't tell when it's daylight or not.
So what are you all doing here, you can't be here just to rescue me.
Engleaktig, your look him over tending to his wounds and find he has suffered some damage, but it isn't severe. He's at about half of max hp

"Same as you really. Exploring for the sake of it. I am glad we found you before these dastardy reptiles hurt you more than they did. We...took care of them." Kalari says without elaboration.

GM Tobi |

Good to hear, good to hear. I see you took care of Tulok there, you must have also dealt with Tasskar then too?
After receiving the healing, Balenar give Engleaktig a bow. Thank you much good sir. Now, i don't mean to be rude, but did you happen to find some equipment? I do feel a bit naked at the moment. He makes a small gesture to his bare chest and torn breeches.

![]() |

"You ARE a bit naked. I do believe we chanced upon a chest with some items that may be just your size. You seem to have picked up the name of big smelly back there, I'm not sure about this Tasskar though. Who is he, and were you able to gather any other useful info about this place?"

GM Tobi |

Smiling brightly at Taliesin before saying a quick rhyme, Taliesin recognizes the chant as the bardic version of prestidigitation, and you see the dirt and grime wash away from his body. He does it once more for upon his equipment before putting it on.
Ah yes, this feels much better. Ah yes, Tulok there was pretty much the muscle of the group from what I gathered. Most of the rest seem to be younger troglodytes. As for Tasskar, he is their leader, I can't tell you too much since I've been in here most of my time, but I do know that he has a rather vicious looking crocodile that follows him around.
Balenar pauses for a moment, seeming to think more. I'm sorry but that really is all that I know.

![]() |

"I don't believe we've run into this... Tasskar. Perhaps our montley crew should look for this individual. If you're up to it, would you like to aid us in his demise? I'm sure you will be much more assistance than these.... do gooders." Baru glares and nods at the aasimar.

"Pathfinders, before we deal with Tasskar, I believe there's another room down here that we have yet to explore."

GM Tobi |

Very well, my new friends. I can accompany you.
Balenar says with a smile as he falls in line with the rest of the group as you head to the other room on the floor.
Stopping and checking the door, neither Kalari nor Engleaktig see anything out of the ordinary., but what you do hear is the faint sound of ... a frog croaking?

![]() |

Kalari explains the noises to the others.
"Shall I enter first or would you prefer to keep the lead, my friend?" the small wayang says, looking up towards Kerestes.

His dark eyes scan the room for danger.

har!

GM Tobi |

Reaching over and pushing open the door, you can see a room riddled with cracks in the walls and ceiling. Those cracks have allowed rainwater to collect here, flooding the room and giving rise to a profusion of mold and fungus along the walls and ceiling.
The water itself is only about ankle deep, and sitting in one of the larger puddles a large frog, about the size of a dog, sits and croaks. It turns toward the opening door and lets out a loud croak.
The fungus and mold lining the walls and ceilings is a harmless species.
Not sure how this room managed to fill to ankle deep water. I didn't know the doors sealed that well, especially after earthquakes knock down parts of the tower.

Baru's eyes widen as he catches a glimpse of the size of the frog. Luckily his red skin camoflauges his embarrassment in swallowing his previous words, "Well, I must admit, that is slightly larger than I was expecting. On a brighter note, I trust everyone has a taste for barbecue frog legs!"
Baru's tail produces his well used wand of snapdragon fireworks, shakes it a few times, speaks a few words, and a familiar set of sparks streak in a zig zag pattern to the frog.

GM Tobi |

Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
The firework slams explodes in front of the frog and you can hear a pained croak come from the beast.
Scanning the room, Engleaktig doesn't see much that sticks out, but something small under a broken table catches his eye. From this distance he can't make it out but something is there.
Balenar laughs as he glances around. Ah this reminds me of some of my adventures, kicking open door and finding all manners of creatures waiting behind them. But as you say, this one is but an animal so we can leave it or kill it depending on it's mood.
Taliesin you're up.

"Those were some really fantastic shots, Rhu," Taliesin says to the tiefling. "Your marksmanship is incredible," she adds as she also searches around the room.
"Shoot...I didn't want to get my feet wet. On the bright side, I guess I can do some shoe shopping when we get back!"

As the frog falls over, the group begins to peer around the room. Engleaktig peers closer at the glint that caught his eye. Under a broken table, he unearths a small jade statue carved into the likeness of an angelic being.
Other than the small figurine, nothing else in the room appears to be of any use to you.

"Explore, Report, Cooperate. This seems like something to report."
"Shall we gird ourselves to meet this Tasskar?"
Marching order? Also, as we go up the stairs, I'll cast Bless on the party. +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.

![]() |

"An excellent idea." Kalari agrees, taking his spot near the front.

GM Tobi |

Sorry there is one more door out of the frog room, but nothing in there.
Checking the door leading out of the frog room, you find another partially destroyed room open to the outside. Though the wall is destroyed, the ceiling remains. Looking up, it seems it would be possible but difficult to climb the outside of the building to reach the top floor.
As you head up the stairs, you notice that there is no door and the stairs will just let out onto the next floor.
Yes, I'd like a marching order and an idea of how you go up. I'll post a map once you reach the top.

![]() |

I think that makes Kerastes and Kalari the front rank; followed by Balenar, Engleaktig, and Baru, with Taliesin and Rhu in the back. If/When things get close, Rhu and Baru can trade places; Rhu's AC is pretty good.
