"None of us did, don't beat yourself up over it." says the wayang. Suppressing a shudder, the gaunt little man adds quietly, "Spiders....unnerve me."

You see the keen-eyed investigator take a few steps checking into the dark corners of the room. He avoids strands of web whenever possible.

Taliesin shudders as the spider dies.

"It looked at me!" Taliesin says. "I could just die!"

She looks into the tower. "I am glad all of you are with me...I could never do this alone. Should we keep going?" she asks apprehensively.

Assuming that: 1) we can take our time, 2) we can clear enough of the webbing to get through, and 3) we are not attacked again while in this room...

Engleaktig casts another light spell on a pebble and tosses it towards the entrance of the next room.

Marked on map.

MotFF Table 1 | MotFF Table 2 | Goblins

Engleaktig, the webbing is thick but it doesn't impede your movement into the the other room.

Kalri and Rhu begin to scan the dark corners of the room, looking for signs of any other spiders. There doesn't appear to be, but they do find a small cocoon hanging in the webs.

If you open it:
Inside you find the remains of an unfortunate dog that fell into the spider's clutches. It's desicatted carcass is still wearing its leather collar, which is studded with lapis lazuli stones and has a silver tag reading "Kita".

Looking through the archway into the adjoining room, you see that most of the room is choked with rubble, leaving most of the room impassible. A door on the eastern wall is accessible. GM roll: 1d100 ⇒ 36

The door opens freely and within the small room is a small stone staircase that looks to run through the center of the tower. Unfortunately, the staircase is blocked with fallen rubble. It looks like the staircase could continue down but that way is also fully blocked by rubble.

Working together, Rhu scales the tower's crumbled exterior expertly and secures a safe place for the rope, allowing the other to make their way up.

Once up to the second floor, you find yourselves in the crumbling remains of a room that now serves as an open landing. To the northwest and southwest there are stout looking wooden doors.

Checking out both door, you don't find anything out of the ordinary.

Opening the northwest door, you see a room lined with shelves. This room might once have been a storeroom, though its contents have long since succumbed to the passage of time. You can see a crack in the northern wall that has apparently let in some rainwater which has collected in a large puddle on the floor.

From near one of the shelves, a dog-sized lizard makes it way out. a horn protrudes from each side of it's head and it's green scales crackle with electricity.

With one thought the Wayang's corporeal form dissolves!

Where Kalari stood just moments ago a small puff of black, formless shadow-stuff now swirls through the air. The shadow-stuff melts into the existing shadows cast by the crumbling tower and you lose sight of the wayang completely.

Seconds later, from behind the lizard, the shadow-stuff takes shape.

Growing out of the shadow of the reptilian beast and returning to his corporeal form, Kalari attempts to skewer the beast with his thin metallic blade, his gaunt face set in a premature grimace expecting a shock should his strike land.

A strange smell, like boiling ink, fills the air in the room.
