The nimble wayang slings the shortbow across his shoulders prefore producing a fancy little rapier.

He assumes a femcing position and moves in closer to get a better view.

Perception: 120 + 6 = 126

Baru flicks his wrist holding the wand.

"Incertus, Pulcher, Imperio"

sparks and flames that resemble the head of a dragon shoot from the end of the wand. The dragon head passes by Taliesen, zig zags toward Kerastes, at the last moment makes one last zig past his side, then zag in front of him till it arrives and impacts on the last dog.

reflex save = dc 11 for 1/2 damage, no daze

damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 fire damage

Baru presents a smirk and finishes the dazzling display saying, "I love the smell of burnt dog hair in the morning."

Kalari will cover Baru with his shiny new rapier. "We get all of them?" he says panting.

I'll go ahead and post my final move before I head out tonight. Moving to flank with the total defense cleric and feeding the business eno of my small rapier to the mongrel we're flanking.

Hit and Damage for my next attack in the order. If my target is dead I assess any injuries and look around the rubble a bit more now that we are up in it haha. here goes.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Kerastes wipes the head of his spear against the fur of the dead dogs to clean it.

"Such is life, one should not go against one who is stronger than you are. Abadar made us all to take our own place and we should not presume to be more than we are."

He then moves to Engleaktig "What were you saying about tracks, I was distracted by those dogs so did not catch everything you said."

"Very wise words my friend. You are incredibly graceful for your stature." the lithe dark creature looks at Kerastes with an almost clinical eye .

"How magnificent..." the wayang says almost breathlessly. "Would you mind if I touch you my big friend?" he says, slowly extending an open hand towards one of your larger stone plates...

The cleric points out the clawed footprints to Kerastes. "Here, my friend. You can see, we are not alone."

The cleric picks up a pebble, casts light on it, and tosses it to the west. Then he moves a bit past the rubble and searches the area further:

Ha, I do not think anyone called me graceful before!" Kerastes laughs. He then shrugs Go ahead and touch me on my arm, its just flesh. Although it seems as if my skin is crystalline I am not actually an elemental or something like that. Now that we are on the subject, what kind of creature are you and where are you from?

Kalari, Kerastes is not stony, but more like he is build up of several blueish crystals.

"Thanks Engleaktig, I missed those. Lets explore!"

"The crystaline skin is unlike anything I've ever seen, and I've read quite a few books on species - mostly because, as you say, I am quite different myself. Legend states that my people are but swatches of shadow pulled from an entire plane made of shadow-stuff, and one day we Wayang will be reuinted in darkness. The whole process is referred to as 'The Dissolution'."

The small gaunt creature pulls back his sleeve, revealing a complex series of tiny raised dots of pale white flesh on otherwise shadowy black skin. The dots form triangles which interlock and overlap one another and upon close inspection they appear to have been bleached on through ritual scarification of sorts.

"My people bear The Sacred Geometry on our skin. A practice that helps to align our souls with our home plane. These symbols allow me to assume a form closer to my native one for a few minutes a day should the need arise." the small creature concludes, pulling his sleeve back down.

Kalari follows Kerastes and Engleaktig to see what's been discovered.

The others move toward the tower, but Taliesin stands looking back at the dogs.

"Do we need to bury them or anything?" she asks. "They were just hungry, and it seems really sad just to leave them out here."

She can't help but regain some measure of her cheer. "You all did such a great job back there!"

"Perhaps on our way out we can burn or bury their remains properly. You are correct Taliesin, they were just crazed with hunger. No one took pleasure in that I assure you." Kalari says in an even, analytical tone.

"Okay," she says, joining the others.

They just remind me of my dog back home!

Rhu and Kalari both let lose arrows, but are unable to land a hit on their target due to it's close proximity to Kerastes.

Rhu, you missed due to the -4 from target in melee

Rhu has the Precise Shot feat, and takes no penalty for firing into melee. He moved so he wouldn't take a cover penalty.

Sorry Rhu, I looked through your feats and for some reason my eyes skipped right over that one. So you would have hit and killed it, my apologies.

With that in mind, Baru please take back the last charge on your wand since the dog would have been dead due to Rhu's arrow.

The final dog falls to the ground, an arrow delicately placed into it's heart. Taking a few moments to look and listen, you do not hear any other movement.

Engeaktig moves up and tosses a small glowing pebble near the northern exposed area. The light shines in and allows a slight view inside. This wing of the tower seems to have escaped the worst of the collapse, but rubble still litters the floor and a thick layer of dust can be seen covering everything. Illuminated by the light, thick cobwebs cloak the ceiling and hang down the walls like tapestries.

Looking toward the southern wing of the tower, you can see that it is completely blocked off. The collapse of the tower must have caved in much of the first floor.

No worries; I almost missed it, too, and I was pretty sure he had it.

"Hmm." the wayang muses aloud. "Would you like me to try and sneak a little closer and see what the glowing pebble has revealed?

Engleaktig moves forward. If nothing happens, he picks up the pebble and tosses it further into the Fortress.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Survival: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Moved on map.

Then the cleric will wait for his allies / backup before proceeding further.

Kalari scurries up behind Engleaktig and looks for a shadowy spot to blend in with. "I am with you, do you see anything?

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17

Throwing the pebble into the room you can see it get tangled up in the webbing and is caught, suspended in the air above the ground. Within in the room you don't see anything out of the ordinary, but you also realize you don't see any trace of the footprints within the northern wing of the tower.

"Where there are webs, there is something that spins them." Rhu sets another arrow on the string and peers inside.

Perception check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

"Friends, I don't see the clawed tracks in here. Perhaps we should go the other way?"

"If they didn't go in here, there might be things left inside that haven't been touched yet."

"I will investigate" Looking back Kerastes tells the wayang "We will continue our talk later, I am curious to see what your "native" form is."

He moves forward into the webbed area

"I can't see anything," Taliesin says. "It looks really dark in there...do you think it's safe?

She follows the others in, apprehensive.

Hey guys, please remember to move your tokens. Since it looks like this scenario has some blind corners and all, I'd like to get a visual of where your character is when you make your perception rolls.

GM roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Kerastes moves in through the archway, the webbing continues up to the ceiling, a good 15 feet high, the lighted stone casting wavering shadows all around the room. The western wall has another archway to another part of the tower.

As Kerastes scans the room, from the doorway Rhu shouts a warning of something moving among the shadows just as a large mass of webbing comes hurtling down at Kerastes.

Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

The mass of webbing slams into the inquisitor's body, quickly expanding and wrapping around him, entangling him.

A large mass of shadows, about 10 feet from the ground, moves to reveal a human-sized spider, it's exoskeleton coloration mimicking scales. It's mandibles and fangs twitch as it's multifaceted eyes glare down at the group.

"Oh, I hate spiders! They are so creepy! This one is way too big! Nevertheless, onward, valiant Pathfinders!" Taliesin shouts, her banner still whipping in the wind.

Inspire Courage, everyone should have +2 attack and +2 damage! Don't make me remind you! ;)

Bow in hand, Rhu advances into the room and fires at the spider. His calm expression dissolves in a snarl of rage as the arrow narrowly misses its target.

Arrow to arachnid, incl. PBS, bardic buff, & banner bonus: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 12

"Spiders are just misunderstood. Take our friend here, he's merely acting on instinct. Something has been caught in his web, and just like the dogs, the spider is just hungry. Just trying to survive. Not driven by the pursuit of power, or material things.... ah, well... it's actions against our friend still demands retribution, I guess."

Baru moves to middle of the room, next to the entangled Kerastes. Baru makes some jestures with his hands and wrists, and speaks a few words...

"Incertus, Pulcher, Imperio"

Baru looks at the spider, takes a deep breath, and opens his mouth as if screaming, but no sound can be heard by the party. (Ear-piercing scream)

Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

The spider seems to brace itself against the unheard scream coming from Baru. Then it begins to chitter, it's legs and mandibles all moving angrily.

"Steady there..." Kalari says at an almost-whisper. Taking aim with his shortbow he lets an arrow fly at the arachnid. "I think I see a soft spot."

Using two Inspiration Points to add 1d6 to my attack roll in addition to the bard's inspiration

Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

"Abadar, lend me your strength!

Kerastes tries to break free from the web, but is hampered by the webbing

Strength Check, webbed: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 4 = 8

Engleaktig moves next to Kerastes and pulls at the webbing to help him break free:

Aid Another: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

+2 to your next attempt to break free.

Kalari's arrow sinks into a joint between the spiders carapace, earning him a strange cry from the insect as Kerastes strains against the webbing but is unable to break free.

Chittering, the spider clambers it's way across the webbing, to decend to the floor before moving up to it's webbed victim. It lunges forward, mandibles spread to bite Kerastes.

Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

But the beast was so excited it misses completely, biting some of the webbing.

Okay spider is now on the ground and the party is up. Engleaktig you can take back the aid another since they spider was supposed to go before you or keep that action, whatever you decide.

Thanks! :-) I'll keep the aid another action; I don't want Kerastes to be entangled in front of the enemy.

Kalari shoulders the shortbow and starts to circle around the spider.

Drawing Rapier and Moving, short legs and all that.

Baru steps 5' away, then does a familiar flip of the wrist with his wand in it, and unleashes another set of sparks in the shape of a dragon's head. The pyrotechnic zig zags through the party until detonating in the spider's square. wand of dragonsnap fireworks

damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Kerastes struggles against the web

Strength Check, webbed, aid: 1d20 + 2 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 4 + 2 = 16

The tiefling takes a deep breath as he moves around to get a better shot, visibly trying to control his anger. He draws and looses again, this time with much better results.

Arrow, incl. PBS, inspire courage, banner: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 21
Arrow damage, incl. PBS, inspire courage, banner: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 + 1 = 7

Taliesin advances into the room, concern evident on her face. She moves behind the spider to give the others a better chance to flank.

"Keep it up, everyone!" she shouts.

Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

As Kalari moves around the spider to get into a more advantageous position, Baru's tail deposits his wand into his hand. With a gesture and a few words, the image of a dragon once again zig zags it's way to impact with the spider.

The creature isn't able to mvoe out of the way and is struck by the spell, burning it and causing the spider to seem disoriented. That disorientation aid Rhu in finding a perfect spot to sink an arrow deeply into the creature's carapace. The effect of the two attacks seems to leave the spider injured and unable to do anything.

With a surge of strength and a bit of help, Kerastes breaks free of the webbing as Taliesin continues to cheer the others on.

Just checking: Is Baru using a special version of Snapdragon Fireworks? That spell typically results in the dazzled condition, not the dazed condition.

Wanting to make sure that the spider wastes any attacks of opportunity, Engleaktig casually walks around it and provides the newly freed Kareastes with a flank. Then the aasimar brandishes his scimitar menacingly at the arachnid and speaks.

Woo hoo! Kerastes, you now have an additional +4 to your next attack! :-) And the cleric's AC is up +2 (now it's 18) after having moved into flanking position.

- Free Action: "Though it saddens me to participate in the taking of a life, this vermin threatens us all. Let us be done with this deed and complete our mission post haste!"

@Engleaktig - not a special version, just mixed up dazzled and daze. Probably due to switching from ear-piercing scream to snapdragon fireworks. sorry, not intentional. Usually I post a spoiler with spell description to prevent stuff like that.

Baru brushes some cobwebs off his shoulder, "It pains me to say this, but impressive tactical sense Engleaktig. I hate feeling obligated to compliment not only a mis-led religious fanatic, but also a celestial being." Baru turns to Rhu and says with a slight hint of embarrassment, "யாரிடமும் சொல்ல வேண்டாம் நான் எப்போதும் ... என்று!"

"I may have preferred the spider bite over saying that, but shall we see what other surprises this place holds?"

Baru: Cool. :-) I was kind of hoping for a neat version of Snapdragon Fireworks without dazing metamagic. :-D I bought the Advanced Class Guide, but it hasn't yet arrived. :-(

"Thank you for the compliment, Baru," the cleric responds sincerely--without taking his eyes off of the spider.

Rhu's calm expression is broken only by a slight twitch at one corner of his mouth as he shakes his head minutely. "நான் எதுவும் கேள்வி."

Taliesin cringes as she moves adjacent to the spider, flanking with Kalari. Apparently not feeling too courageous herself, she stops her efforts to inspire courage in the others.

Going to save rounds of bardic performance since it appears almost dead. Also, note that I have the banner in one hand and the shield in the other, which means I won't be doing many attacks since I want everyone else to retain the +1/+1 from the banner.

Kalari stabs at the spider again, this time from a better position.

huh, I missed that about the fireworks too. Oh well accidents happen. It was staggered after the damage anyways.

As Engleaktig moves around the spider, it twitches its mandibles and makes some noises but doesn't attack. The spider slowly turns toward Taliesin as she moves in, it's jaws flaring wide just before Kalari find a space in it's carapace, driving his rapier home.

The creature hisses before falling to the ground, dying.

Kerastes removes the remains of the webbing from his shoulder "Thanks for your assistance there, I did not see the spider until it was too late."
