Honestly, Alexandra's line there is a reference to mistake I made often in childhood. I had only ever heard a cover of Chelsea hotel no. 2, by a woman. so to me, that line seemed very complimentary, until i found out it was originally a song by Leonard Cohen.

I'll take Songs That I Don't Know But Kaoru Might for 200 Alex(andra). Without this comment, probably would have gone with Kaoru trying to figure out if Alexandra was saying she wasn't handsome (a confusing statement given lack of mocking tone) or wasn't a man (a terrifying statement given that Kaoru's pretty sure she has everyone fooled).

Oh yeah, I totally got that. Kaoru would have been too busy worrying/possibly slightly freaking out/definitely too oblivious to have gotten it though.

If you want drama, César could easily be in his home office. You'd have to make a heck of a thump for him to go snoop around Bronwyn's room though.

if so, do we want to go with Drama (they have extensive files, with plans to deal with us if they need to. of they have secrets we've been keeping in them) or humour (they are hilariously inaccurate, and reveal a certain level of incompetence) or... yeah.

Also, I am greatly entertained by Alexis asking everyone for dating advice. Though I'm now realizing that the SCA break in and drama are going to affect the hangout much more than I was expected (mostly was just trying to figure out if Kaoru was going to be severely depressed by her incompetence the entire time. But now I guess she has other things to think about).

I also love Shaun's lack of information. I think things are not going to go well for Kaoru once he figures out Kaoru = "try-hard". Also love that now Shayera, Bran, and Bronwyn are in some kind of a threesome.

O-ya betcha. Already plotting that reaction. And in my defense, in his mind there's no way Bran and Bronwyn are the same person, and he's managed to convince himself Wingblade and Bran are a thing, so what conclusion would you draw?

And it's a perfectly valid conclusion. Makes total sense. Just like clearly the only way to get Bran to transform back into Bronwyn is by kissing him. Obvs. ;-)

Haha, that's what I get for splicing together posts. Bronwyn was meant to be connected to Alexis asking her out. Not so much the "other things". :-P

But I think Bronwyn is still grounded. D-: Unless she finds a way to sneak out to make the cluster of drama that is going to be the not-date even more dramaful. It's such a wonderful web of complicated relationships! :-D

So Bronwyn's grounded, but she's 'gonna be home alone anyways' grounded. Plus I think the movie would be a good idea to really solidify the Team as a team, so I'm just gonna make it happen :-p

Oh, also, forgot to reintroduce Ronnie, but her name's actually short for Veronica, just for the next time she shows up in the background of the scene.

Yes, Kaoru is generally around school. Open to interactions, just didn't want to slow things down if people wanted to get straight to the not-date. And now actually going to D&D game

I am going to want to track Shaun down before the end of the day, (and like touch base on the after-school movie) but don't have time to put up a real post for a few hours.

Interesting how Shaun went from thinking Silver Shadow was a guy (though I suppose the past 2 were) to calling Alexandra Silver Shadow. FWIW, I'm of the opinion that Shaun's "deduction" makes no sense and is just pure luck that it's true. Especially since Apex seemed to think the Silver Shadows are the only "baselines" really worth mentioning, making Kaoru's comparison perfectly reasonable. Just saying because I felt like I needed to defend Kaoru. Even if she does seem to keep insisting on making me feel guilty for inflicting drama/angst on others. :/

Yes, he is making some leaps in logic, but in his current state he’s really trying to get something on Alexandra to get her to shut up, so he’s willing to give this a shot. In case it hasn’t been clear on how I’ve been playing him (and if it really hasn’t then I apologize for that), Shaun’s got some impulse control issues; he’s unfocused and brash, but he’s not stupid. (Something that would be come very apparent if a certain metallic heroine checked out his background...*hint hint wink wink*)

That was a mistake on behalf of the player. I was tired. Assume Wingblade said "him." Though I expect that when they interact, her heightened senses will detect what she almost figured out when she was analyzing the newcomers.

Edit: also, re: Shaun's deduction, remember that they did fight bone dinosaurs at the museum together, so he would have at least known the current Silver Shadow is a girl and likely a student at Halcyon High.

See, that's the part I don't know how he "concluded". He wasn't there for the Kanga Ronnie scene or when SS saved her from the guard in the museum, which was the only time they actually interacted that scene. I got the impression he concluded it from that post when Kaoru b*tched him out and ran away, but I don't think that conclusion makes any sense since it seemed to come from the fact that Kaoru was comparing him to SS. But SS is clearly the most well known "baseline" hero, and therefore the obvious comparison.

Part of me says, 'hells yes!' (even though knowing Kaoru's luck, she'd get Shaun out of that). But...I don't know how anybody would ever actually convince Kaoru to do that. Maybe if I got her drunk....

Also going to give Alexis time to respond before Kaoru either goes deer-in-headlights or starts fleeing. If the latter, debating if I want her to fall out of the tree in the process.

I understand waiting to see how Alexis reacts, but I'm a little mystified by Kaoru's reaction. Does she have some sort of predator sense? How's she picking up the "danger" vibes so strong?

Kaoru has a pretty keen ear (and is also actually a synesthete 'cause I thought that'd be cool), and the closest interaction she and Wingblade have had was in the museum where she was trying to get Shaun and Cassie to flee and, like, practically right next to them Bran and Wingblade were semi-fighting. So she probably would have heard

When she finally reaches Bran, her face is ashen from the pain, but set in a fierce, blazing glare. "Lose something?" she hisses. Her glower becomes more deadly as she rasps, "Get this thing out of me, then don't try to stop me."

Which I'm guessing was said in a very dangerous tone of voice + a deadly look in her eyes. Plus she missed the whole mind-control thing, so she really had no idea what was going on there and who was one whose side. So I thought it'd be interesting if I had her associate Shayera's voice with danger. It seemed like while you changed your appearance, you weren't really doing anything to mask your voice. Though since your fashion friends couldn't recognize you, I decided she wouldn't know what the connection was. Just that she should run. Hopefully that's ok; I just thought it'd be interesting to try to hit a variety of feelings towards her teammates, and "fear" hadn't been used yet.

Okay, I figured you'd have some sort of reason, I the player just wasn't seeing it.

Whether Bronwyn has mentioned to Shayera that she's hijacking movie night into a team meeting is.... Fuzzy at best lol.

But if she's ditching practice and skipping her grounding, she's making it a twofer. Then maybe pie.

If it's not specific to our current time & location, we could keep the current scene heading towards pirates and such (with Wingblade slightly backgrounded until she's more available)

Let's definitely not careen into the next big thing yet though!

So what pirate movie are we watching? Caribbean Pirates (Jinx of the White Diamond? Only the Living Tell Tales?)? Island of Treasure? Or perhaps...Pirates of Penzance? 0:-)

I figured something in the Caribbean Pirates series, plenty to mine there for people looking to enjoy or criticize or enjoy criticizing ;-)

The film is 'Ninja Ghost Pirates From Mars, Episode Four: Attack of the Jellyfish'.

It's most rave review says, 'Please stop going to see these movies ironically, you're only encouraging them to make more'.

And this scene could occur before or after the film, so we can truck along for a bit if we want to get in more character interactions.

...though now I know what to call 'Issue One' of this season of the campaign:

Puts on True Believer voice: "At last, we can tell you the title to our tale, though it's one title we'd hoped we'd never see, we call it-- The Night Alexis was Forbidden from Picking the Movie Ever Again --And you can be sure the story doesn't end here!"

I was thinking we could watch a film version of Skull and Shackles.
