I will, and suggest everyone does the same, reply via PM. Sometimes recruits will follow the discussion as well.
I'm doing some research and will PM you shortly.

Apollo Randasian |

That's nice of you Angmar. I haven't actually quit, so don't know why you'd even think I had....
No matter how much I might dislike someone, I'd never single them out or ostracise them. Though, you're not me.
Don't let me stop you from returning. I know the situation between us and can't help the attitude of others.
Anyway - Lein, I wasn't familiar with the rules on Breath weapons to that degree either. Had to check it out but I'm always on the PRD so just wanted to query it really. No problem. :)

Apollo Randasian |

Who's excited for the new folk to join?
I've PM'd Lein and have already seen two really good roleplaying opportunities. Lein has my pick, so I'm looking forward to hearing more. :)

Mahorfeus |

Thanks for letting me into the group, everyone!
I'll have Mordin's alias finished up soon. Definitely in time for his debut, whenever that might be.
Just to note, I went ahead and added a set of masterwork thieves' tools to his inventory. It had not occurred to me that Disable Device takes a penalty if you don't have tools. That would have been kind of awkward.

Dmitri Mavis |

Sonja, you'll probably have read up on it by now, but Dmitri actually turned a important Sarenrean woman named Lyssandra (A sorcerer that followed the faith closely within Kelmerane) into a worshiper of Lilith. He doesn't dislike any religions, really, but he dislikes people that get in the way of his habits and tastes.
That said, she too, was an Aasimar, so expect to have that lovely little bit of faith tested. Though honestly he'll likely do what he can to follow your whims and treat you like gold.

Oh, I know. In fact, I'm counting on that. I think Dmitri will find a very different character in Sonja than what he's accustomed to...

Dmitri Mavis |

Brutal, unforgiving, stern, stubborn, painful, dark-skinned, angry, ex-slave elves are apparently quite common.
The only 2 women, save for his godmothers, that Dmitri works with consistently are Kori and Lyssandra, and in exact opposite ways.
Still I definitely agree. I'm curious as to what would have happened had the loopy which we originally started with had stayed.

Mahorfeus |

Oh, something else that I probably should have asked about earlier.
The vivisectionist gets deathwatch as a formula for free, but I noticed that enemy hit points are open knowledge in this game. It makes the extract a little redundant. (Not that it is particularly useful anyway.) Should I just leave it as is?

leinathan |

Honestly, I just use keeping the hit points out there so that I don't have to keep separate notes. I may prune this from my gameplay style at some point, but for now, that's my policy.
That said, deathwatch will have out-of-combat opportunities, but if it makes you feel better to have a different extract as a bonus, you can have that.

Dmitri Mavis |

The benefit of finding a space to rest is that we could potentially run into the new players as well. So not only will we have time, but also the numbers. It'd also give me plenty of time to scold Apollo. Lets' see what he wants. He's waited this long to usurp power? What's another day.
Also I think that's like my second Nat 20 ever.

Apollo Randasian |

New post from me tonight. Maybe more if people are up for a few more bits of roleplaying. Shame I couldn't have finished Andronakraks but Apollo wasn't bothered about killing either!
Scolding from Dmitri though. He's more concerned about finding some decent arrows and scouting for a better way into this place than anything else. The scolding will be present regardless. ;)
Glad to see you guys on board though!
Shame Thurrios couldn't have joined but we need a constant challenge, not an army haha!
Bit worried about Nom, mind.

Koritylija |

Delayed welcome to the newcomers. I hope Kori is not disappointed by your contributions in combat ;) A good first impression goes a long way with her.
Dmitri, you know you didn't REALLY turn a Sarenrae priestess per se. You wrote a backstory for a cohort that involves her turning. You could have just as well wrote that you pulled her out of the stars in the sky and molded her with sand.
Had you done so actually through gameplay it might be a different story.
This is why I tend to try and avoid a backstory that accomplishes things outside the realm of what my PC's could actually do in game, especially when starting at level 1. That's not to say that your story does, considering you do have a ridiculous Diplomacy. It just sets up too much opportunity to lay claim to having done soemthing you didn't actually do. It's really mainly just a personal pet peeve of mine.
Not only did the ship he piloted have a minimum crew of like 20, the collision damage (even at the bare minimum) would have killed up to a 4th or 5th level character.
He proceeded, throughtout the game, to try and use these as rank to tell other PC's what to do. Sadly, one of the other (new) players listened to him (because it was in his backstory and the GM allowed it with an "I don't think it will be a problem" when we warned him it would happen). So when he tried to murder someone, and we stopped him, he commanded the other player to help him. In the end, he was kicked from the group (this wasn't the first time he caused a rift at the table) and sadly his wife (a good player) left with him.
Granted, he was a trouble player on multiple occasions, but it's just one of the things he would do every time, and it stood out as part of the personality type.
HERE, is a thread I started about players like him, and my experiences with him.

leinathan |

I don't think the problem there, in your example, was the backstory that he wrote. Although I generally try to limit a backstory to the capabilities of my character, the problem there seems just to have been a very self-centered person.
While I think it's important to have characters on the same level, I think it's possible to make something fun out of many situations that others would call problems.

Brek of Unknown House |

I am back. Camp took longer than expected and I just reached home.

Dmitri Mavis |

Because I figured we were going to get fully healed after the fight, and just kept a mental check on my health. I kind of forgot what it was at, however... I do apologize. Fortunately we'll be fully healed soon.
That health reading may be accurate however. I took 21 damage, but my health is 53? It should be 50. 2 taps of the infernal wand should patch me up just fine then.
I'll keep it on tabs, but I'd prefer to ooc it per post, if that's alright?

leinathan |

You took 22 damage, but your health being at 49 is contingent on whether you were healed after the fight outside the House's main gate.
See, this is why it's important to keep health current. Try to update it when you see a post detailing your damage taken or health restored, because these things can take (and have taken, so far) weeks.
It's perfectly fine with me to use ooc status tabs instead of updating the profile, of course. It's just important to me for things to be accurate.

Sonja Velfieren |

Also, what's up with y'all? Sonja?
Apologies for the delay, it's been a crazy week and my other campaigns have been somewhat demanding (including one IRL). Now that I've posted in the gameplay thread, however, it'll be much easier to keep up with LoF. In hindsight, I probably should have just dotted the gameplay thread to begin with.

Dmitri Mavis |

Before this conversation gets intense, is there anyone that's in total objection of Dmitri calling Apollo out for leaving us during the salamander fight and charging in recklessly against the gnolls at the front gate?

Brek of Unknown House |

Brek needs to count charges on his wand and will attempt to play mediator in the event things get too heated.

Brek of Unknown House |

Wand charges edited as used on Dmtri.

leinathan |

Kori also needs at least three charges of the wand (16/55). Apollo, I believe, is fine. As is Aeris, but no one cares because he's not here.
Mordin, your time to shine will be soon - they just need to kill Thratkinas first and gain access to the actual House of the Beast before I see fit to let you start posting.

Koritylija |

She's at 23/55, I posted that she used one of her CLW on herself.
Anniversary tonight, so mostly out this weekend.

Mordin Fau |

Mordin, your time to shine will be soon - they just need to kill Thratkinas first and gain access to the actual House of the Beast before I see fit to let you start posting.
Oh, I'm aware. I knew what I was getting myself into when I made this character pitch. Thanks for the heads up though!

Brek of Unknown House |

So who else needs healing? I only accounted for Dmtri.
I'll heal the others as needed.

Dmitri Mavis |

I think at this point Dmitri just hates the Sarenrae faith. Loves the female deity, and loves the women of the religion, as one might, but first his wife, and then the bald guy, and now Sonja's standing over a defeated Je'grik, who is also a member of the faith.
The Dawn Star needs to get her s~%& together.

Apollo Randasian |

Not having much luck, is he?
The party's only going to be more suspicious when Apollo and Dmitri turn up with a new face.

Sonja Velfieren |

Hey guys,
Unfortunately I've come down with an extremely bad case of the stomach flu, so I'll be all but unconscious for the next few days. Just letting you know that my posting rate will be decreasing due to excess vomiting, not due to lack of interest... or choice in the matter.

leinathan |

Hey guys! I started writing a homebrew adventure that I want to test out, and I was wondering if any of you guys are interested?
Anyway, go ahead and check out the recruitment thread I started up, here. So far it's just a few people arguing with me about homebrew changes and character generation preferences. Let me know if you're interested or just post in the thread, I'd love to have any of you.

Apollo Randasian |

We're supposedly going back into the cave. We're all following but Apollo's hanging back to speak with Sonja, still following the rest back towards the cave.
Why is that bothering you? As far as.he's concerned, there may be another way in. That's why he left the cave to begin with.

Brek of Unknown House |

Wriggle Wriggle bump bump

Dmitri Mavis |

Just a thought, but on our next downtime I wouldn't mind figuring out how to get this: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/alternate-classes/antipaladin/archetypes/fi re-mountain-games---antipaladin-archetypes/lord-of-darkness. With my Intimidate sink I'd very well be commanding often. Just a musing though though.
Also I think we lost Apollo.

leinathan |

I don't know if you know this, but that's a third-party thing. I generally blanket-ban those. Aren't you also planning on leaving antipaladin?
He sent me a PM saying he's going through some rough stuff, and he's in one more of my games that he hasn't been starting up with. Anyway, I don't think he quit, just...hasn't been posting.
