I'm fairly lenient on post pacing myself, so although I do see the delay, I'm not as bothered by it.

All that said, this is more of an issue for Lein to address, as he's the one deciding whether the pace and content are up to his standard.

Je'Grik's post pacing is less on an issue for me than his post size. I know I'm gone for multiple days on end sometimes, often from several of my campaigns at once, so I can't really criticize people on being gone for a few days.

Okay. So this is it. This is the moment where I can throw a wrench. Kardswann is negative, he's down and he's so very vulnerable... Apollo and Brek have both openly stated that they want me to hold my hand and not outright kill him, and Angmar has agreed, but Dmitri just Won't.

If I don't cou de gra him here, I'll do it later, without question, and Dmitri really wants to do it here, to prove a point.

There are so many things going on right now that are tripping evil flags as well as law ones. I made a deal with Undrella, and so I have to kill this guy, right here, right now. We know enough from what he just said to send us asking questions, which the main lady who's name escapes me probably has the answers to.

So unless someone has anything to stop Dmitri from killing Kardswann right this instant, speak now. Keep in mind that he still probably won't listen.

Undrella currently has the highest charisma of the present company... so... she kind of wins on the "I order you to-" list.

Dmitri is going to kill this guy rather soon, and I'd like to discuss the potential repercussions amongst you before he does it, before a gameplay post stopping him happens...

So quite the haul of loot!

I'd take the following:
Kardaswan's Axe
Kardaswan's Breastplate
Ring of Protection +2
Amulet of Natural Armor +1

If Angmar gets the axe his +1 Mace becomes available.

I'd say the following should go:
Ring of Protection +2 --> This is prolly are most contested item as everyone gets into melee and ths wants AC. My gut feeling tells me Apollo should take it as currently he's rather fluffy.
Amulet of Natural Armor +1 --->Again everyone will want it.
Cloak of Resistance +1 ---Anyone really. Angmar needs it least as his saves kick ass.
+ 2 Charisma--> Brek, Kori, Jegrik? all partial casters so not sure how much they care about their spell save DCs.
Slippers of Spider Climbing -->Brek
+1 Dagger -->Kori? She's looking into TWF right? Otherwise sell it as it's worth 1000GP.
+1 Banded Mail --> Sell as no one wants heavy armor in the group.

So IC Angmar would be pretty stoked about the Battle Axe seeing it's Angradd's favored weapon and all. I'm assuming Apollo is interested in the axe as well however, or is he planning to go Thunder and Fang?

Also we might want to consider diviing up loot (i.e. gold) dependent on what treasures people get.

Slippers and the +2 charisma would be nice though if someone else wants it I'm fine.


The +2 Charisma I'm not too worried abound, though it would increase the number of times I can channel positive energy by one.

Kori doesn't want the dagger (her two-weapon fighting is for her unarmed strike).

She doesn't need Charisma, as all her spells will be focused on heals and self-buffs, and with what she has already she can cast up to 4th level spells.

What she DOES want is the +1 spiked breastplate. Since she is a grappler and will actually USE spiked armor, like the armor she wears and the armor of her patron, it would be the one thing of all of this stuff she would actually want.

She may NEED the protective stuff (cloak, ring, or amulet) but wouldn't really want it until someone tells her she needs it.

I agree that Angmar should get the greataxe (as it his deity's favored weapon, and he is most likely to use it always as his primary weapon)

For defensive items, I still go by the raise up the lowers first style.

AC's:
Angmar - 20
Apollo - 19
Kori, Dmitri, and Je'Grik - 17
Brek - 13

I think the Ring of Prot and Chr +2 should go to Brek
The Amulet of Natural to Je'Grik (as I plan on the spiked armor, and Dmitri has buttload of HP)
Maybe cloak of resist to Apollo as his saves are fairly low, and I have my SR (as well as raised saves while raging)

Lastly, Kori may want the potion of Magic Fang, so she can use it on her off-hand.. hand

Brek, you need to understand one thing about Dmitri. He cares little to nothing about the opinions of men.

No matter how good they look.

Undrella has the highest charisma out of the current women, and we can't exactly wait on someone else to come out of the blue.

Also, not to be prude, but I wouldn't mind taking something out of this combat... Though I can easily understand why Dmitri wouldn't be considered for loot. Frankly, out of all of the things I've gotten, it's just the +1 scythe and the Ring of jumping, which I honestly just don't need.

Speaking of which, who wants that? Because I have no use for it.

... Also I do want heavy armor, so I wouldn't mind taking that Banded mail. I wouldn't take any of the rings, but I'd still have a 21 AC, and as the most "Hurt me, love me, pay attention to me" guy in the group, he could use the extra AC.

As for the +2 charisma, as much as I'd love to have that, I still think our main charisma guy should have it, and that's Brek.

+1 dagger can get sold. The rest is up in the air. My saves are kickass as well. Especially my fortitude As for the random things, I believe I'll also take the Bulls Strength Wand, as I gain the use of that spell on my next level, if I'm not mistaken, and therefore wouldn't have to make a use magic device check for it.

For wands, as I understand the rules, you only need it on your spell list. You don't need to have spells yet, or have the spell. Just have it on your list of class spells.

That said, it would actually be better off in the hands of someone with less hands required. Merely for action economy. Say, Brek, for example, could Bull's Strength anyone that needed it easier than Dmitri using it on himself. First because Dmitri would have to unhand one hand of the scythe (therefore not be useable for AoO's), then draw the wand (move action), then use the wand (standard). Then need to stow the wand (move action unless he drops it), and regain his grip.

Whereas, if Brek or another less handed person has it, they can either have it out, or not have to put it away, without it affecting their combat ability. Also, they are better able to move from combatant to combatant to buff without likely having to disengage.

I actually really wanted the +1 Spiked Breastplate over anything else, but am in two minds about it because:

1. Kori grappling would make better use of the Spikes, where as I want it for the +1 protection. Maybe we could roll off?

2. I don't imagine Apollo ever wearing a cape, so the cape is essentially useless to me.

3. Apart from a ring of featherfall (courtesy of Mokknokk), I didn't get any loot from previous encounters whatsoever, so apart from a ring of featherfall I have no magical items.

I was toying with becoming a weapon collector and did want Kardswann's but firstly Angmar called it outright, and secondly, I only wished to have the armour from this encounter as I have absolutely no magical equipment whatsoever, and I mentioned about taking items just to sell so I could save up to buy something decent, but you guys expressed disinterest against that, stating that all loot should be shared, but then having not gained any loot previously, I see that as the fairest way to do things, because otherwise the whole party will have loads of goods and poor Apollo will just remain an easy, magicless target.

The one thing I want to do above all else is make his hammer magical.

If none of that's an option, I guess I'll get the scraps again and just take the Masterwork Breastplate and +2 ring....not that Apollo would care much for a ring unless it looked particularly good (he wouldn't know if it had magical properties) and the flindbar for personal reasons (I'm not going to use it ever...).

I'll be able to roleplay once things are agreed, as my actions wait on such things.

Just for the record, the ring is the second-most valuable item in the hoard and would give you a higher net AC bonus than than magical armor. I'm going to assume that the knowledge of what all of the items are is shared over the course of the looting and distributing, so it's not like Apollo would be unaware of what the items do.

And the cloak is less of a cape and more of a coat, just without sleeves. It's meant to hang in front of your shoulders, not behind them.

Yea, my concern isn't about worth though. I actually really loved the look of the Armour and Hammer so was hoping to get one of those as I feel now things have been said in character of what people are having (I was away from the boards when that was decided), I have no grounds to stand on and no choice but to accept the scraps again.

Apollo wouldn't be that petty. If someone else takes it, it's not worth arguing over in his head. It's just something he'd have liked.

But nah, it's fine. I'll just have to accept that as I can't be bothered to worry about it either. I just would have liked things to have been a little fairer is all because part of the fun is the loot...which I've not had much of sadly. I had to borrow Dmitri's scythe to get past damage reduction as it was magic. Shame there's not a shop nearby or enough cash for me to upgrade something but we're in the middle of nowhere pretty much, so trade's not going to be present.


If Angmar gets the Axe, then you could use the +1 Heavy Mace he won't be needing anymore though, right?

I don't think we've gotten much up until now anyways.

Kori has a +1 Long sword, although she carries the +1 Scimitar, she has been trying to give it away ever since she got the longsword.

Dmitri has Tempest, but I think it more chose him or some such. Oh, and the ring of jumping, but again no one has expressed any interest in it

Angmar has the +1 mace

You have the ring of Feather Falling, though I think mostly just carrying, as again no one really wanted it.

But off the top of my head, I can't think of anything else we've gotten.

That said, I do think the two new guys came in with more of their WBL, so they may be low on the priority list, and we don't know them so we are less likely to just hand them stuff.

Like Lein said, though, the ring of Prot +2 is kind of a big deal considering it's an 8,000 gp item, and gives deflection.

I know, I just felt the armour would suit the Gnoll hater and would just kind of like to have something I want for a change. I think I read somewhere that all magic armour in game magically shapes to its wearer, but I just saw Kard's armour as something ultra manly, befitting of the man and silly looking on a woman or small character (kind of the issue with the chest shape and size of the protective armour. I'm guessing it'd be uncomfortable).

In regards to Kori, I don't see a problem as far as aesthetics are concerned, if we're worried about someone not being "Manly" enough for that armor.

I mean, the idea of boob spaces in armor is kind of silly and impractical, so it's not like realistic woman armor has a different chestpiece anyway.

For the record, you only really have one opponent in Chapter One before things in this area change significantly. There will be opportunity for trade soon, so retaining items for selling is a practical idea.

Seems like most of you have had your opinion of what they want - if you haven't, voice it now. I do have a question, though.

How do we want to actually decide who gets what? I mean, there are some things that not everybody wants, but it seems that the ring, Kardswann's armor and Whirlwind are getting some attention.

I mean, do you want me to decide on the final loot distribution? I hadn't thought of it before but it seems like the only one who gets anger in that situation is me, potentially...

Alright, well hopefully some cooler looking armour will turn up later then. Pretty bummed, but if we're not rolling off I have nothing else to say really. There's not a good picture of Ugruk's armour either and I'm not entirely sure he'd wear a stray pups breastplate. the breastplate I have for Apollo in my head that he's wearing already is a lot cooler, but maybe he can use the money from that armour to make his current armour better.

Guess we'll see. Hopefully you can understand why I feel a bit left out though. Everything I've expressed interest in has gone elsewhere where as other characters have had what they wanted really, so I just kind of feel like I'm being told what I can and can't have, s opposed to having any choice in the matter like the others.

That one opponent, I'm assuming, is Xulthos, so hooray for that... I should probably roll a Knowledge: Planes for that, but I can't really pick a demon out based on its name without rolling like a 40. Maybe Knowledge: History would work, but that's just as high a roll that none of us specialize in.

I'd also like to point out that at least one of us needs to sum up our entire treasure trove in one of our character descriptions, along with how much each item is worth, because if we don't, it'll come back to bite us and slow us down when we least want it to, and that'll likely be during the downtime after this is all said and over.

I frankly want to run this entire AP, because f~*!, guys, we've almost beaten an entire chapter in a PbP in less than a year, which is just downright amazing in my book. Holy hell. And as an evil character no less!

One thing I've enjoyed about Dmitri is that some of his actions, in a twisted way, could be considered good, but his thought processes behind them are just twisted in a way that they aren't. Kardswann being killed could have been an act of mercy and atonement, but he did it just because of a promise he made to undrella, while knowing full well he'd been dominated and wasn't in touch with his own actions.

I've enjoyed this first chapter a ton, but Dmitri is going to have to get a bit more evil in his actions as the game progresses.

As far as issues are concerned, however, I have only 1 problem with Dmitri, and that's his rather low to-hit. When he's smiting good, he's average, with a +9 to hit, at best. Even then he's got a +5 to the damage. But then there's the problem, he's got to smite the good, and I doubt we're going to get many more loopholes like Kardswann.

I'd frankly be just fine with Lein deciding who gets what, actually. But I definitely want that +1 Banded mail, because I'm on the road to full plate as we speak. Honestly if we're lucky, I'd like to BUY a +1 Full plate over the time skip! That'd be sweet.

Yea, I'm the opposite to you really D.

My HP sucks for an up front fighter, but my to hit is pretty good (against gnoll's).

On the item front, there's only one weapon I'd class as a must on the horizon for Apollo, and that follows on from his backstory, though I'm sure you know what I mean Lein.

Weapons with alignments though (new greataxe has one) are probably going to kick us in the teeth sooner or later though.

Apollo you are totally exaggerating here. We all have next to no magical gear.You have on multiple occasions been offered magical weapons which you didn't want.
I also strongly disagree with Brek getting the Ring. For one I assume Brek and Jegrik were created with WBL, second IC there is no reason for us to give them things the core group that is loot starved would want to share with them after freeing them and third his AC of 13 is likely 17 due to Mage Armor and only people who engage in melee need high AC.

Also the last thing I'd want is for loot to be distributed based on Lein's judgement as we should be able to figure this out.

So from the big items I guess the following has been agreed on:

Brek gets the slippers and the CHA item as no one else really wants em. However selleing the slippers might also be an option.

Kori gets the armor.

Dmitri gets the banded mail.

Angmar the Axe. He will also take the MW Breastplate as no one wants it.

Apollo imo should get the ring. It's the best item of the bunch and he needs extra AC most of the frontliners.

This leaves the cloak and the amulet of natural armor. I'd be keen on the latter as my AC will drop down to 18 sans shield however having received the most valuable item (the axe, even though it's likely not much better than a +1 axe due to the lack of lawful outsiders in PF) I'm not in a position to make demands. Jegrik might also want eithe rof these as he hasn't gotten anything decent.

Also we are gonna have a fairly nice amount of cash. Imo this should be split up to ensure that everyone has a good weapon and a good armor from here on out. Also a wand of CLWs seems in order. So some of the cash would definitely go into a +1 Earthbreaker for Apollo. Also upgrading some armor to +1 would a good return on our money for those without magic armor.

Thoughts?

Also Jegrik and Brek can have their pick of +1 dagger +1 Longsword or +1 mace before we sell those.

The axe is evil outsider bane though. Much better, don't you think?

I wouldn't mind the long sword or the mace, personally.

Oh I would absolutely love the Charisma headband! No question, as I'm a Antipaladin, and the bonus to various abilities and my soon-to-be saves would be coming out. A little more Diplomacy wouldn't hurt either... hehe.

I mean it can still be switched out at any point, couldn't it? I would honestly love the 18 charisma, and if we're going to argue about who wants more saves, then I'll jsut take the cloak as well.

My main things that I want is a +1 Full plate, and a Scythe with Keen... After that, I'll just pick out what other things I can. I guess a shield and a Sickle wouldn't hurt either, just in case I needed more armor for an event in the future.

Besides, the fiend around the corner probably has some stupid high-save or suck spell that's gonna rock someone's world, so having more will saves wouldn't hurt. I'm working a +7 right now, so I should be safe, but should be is risky, lol.

I just wanted Brek to have the Charisma headband because I didn't really take into consideration the WBL having already been done for them, though, so I guess me taking it actually would be fair...

But that's up to you guys.


What? Half-Elf Writer 1 / Dancer 1 / Chemist 1

Hey, I start these with the intention of running the entire AP, and at the eleventh monthaversary (which is today, by the way, guys. Happy eleven months) I'm excited for the future :D This is my second-oldest PbP and the other one is about as far, having just begun the second chapter of Curse of the Crimson Throne.

I'll make a nice and easy post, fairly soon, that just moves us forward about a day and sums everything up.

If you care about my loot thoughts::
As for loot, my thoughts are the following:

Dmitri:

amulet of natural armor +1 (2,000gp)
+1 banded mail (1,400gp)
potion of spider climb (300gp)
potion of cure light wounds (50gp)
potion of cure moderate wounds (300gp)
2 applications of silversheen (500gp)

I don't think I've forgotten any items. In addition, there is 5,059gp in monetary wealth. Because Apollo and Angmar are a significant value in items ahead of the other PCs, I don't think they should receive money, exactly.

If Dmitri receives 2,274.5 and Kori receives 2,774.5, this puts their loot shares at about 7,774.5gp each. This nearly levels it with the other original party members.

The newcomers receiving a lesser share of loot is intentional, ubt if you look I didn't leave them completely out of it.

Apologies if my thoughts were unwanted or if my distribution thoughts are completely off. I'm just trying to solve some small bit of strife.

Ahh evil outsider that makes things much better...then again it's kind of not so synergistic with my soon to come bane ability... hmm maybe it would be better placed with Apollo...

Also maybe we should each make a list of what everyone wants for their characters and would be realistic based on WBL (10500 at level 5 which I assume we will reach by the end of the first module).

Then we calculate how much money we will have in the party pool by selling all our excess loot and we can see if we can get all the stuff we want.

Only Item Angmar currently has a major longing for is a +1 Breatplate, which provided he gets the MW one from here would cost 1000 GP.

Dimitri's +1 Full Plate comes at 2000GP.
A keen scythe at 8000 GP will prolly not be doable. also isn't your magic weapon some sort of plot item?

For Apollo I'm assuming a +1 Earthbreaker at 2400. +1 Breatplate upgrade for another 2000.

How about Kori? she has a +1 weapon and magical armor right? She should be good...

Jaegrik has +1 armor and would get a +1 longsword.

What about Brek?
